The annoying jerk my parents forced me to play with as a kid grew up to be a sexy, grumpy baker who still can’t stand me. Sure, maybe I enjoy our bitter banter, his cocky smirk, his chocolate chip cookies. But there’s a reason I can’t play nice.
You’re wondering why—if I hate the guy so much—did I agree to be his fake date to his cousin’s wedding? Look. Just because I love being a pain in the man’s well-formed butt doesn’t mean I want someone else torturing him. Especially not the ex-fiancée who left him for his best friend.
One night of faking it takes an unexpected turn. Heated glances, lingering touches, that arrogant mouth against mine. One night of getting swept away in an attraction that maybe isn’t so one-sided after all.
Aside from this new, tentative friendship laced with sexual tension, something else has grown out of that night.
And Tyler and I will have to figure it all out…in about nine months.
Author’s note: Just One Favor is an enemies-to-lovers standalone romance with a hot side of longing, sexually-charged banter, a broken hotel bed, and chocolate cream pie.
Stephanie Rose is a badass New Yorker, a wife, a mother, and lover of all things chocolate. Most days you'll find her trying to avoid standing on discarded LEGO or deciding which book to read next. Her debut novel, Always You, released in 2015 and since then she's written several more—some of which will never see completion—and has ideas for hundreds to come.
My heart is 1,000x swooning over Tyler & Olivia! This book was chefs kiss in all the right ways.
•Childhood to adult
•Enemies to Lovers
•Fake relationship that fell off the rails in lust/love fast!
•Toe curling sexiness
•Sexy guy baker & Uber foodie blogger
•All the feels and emotions
I loved that even though they were so called enemies Tyler could not take his eyes off of Olivia when they were teens.
“I did track you. Even when you drove me insane, I could never stop looking at you. That line you keep talking about is thin.” He inched closer, so close his lips brushed mine. “So fu*king thin.”
Tyler was definitely my kind of hero, but Olivia is my girl!! Strong, successful, a real spit fire and no nonsense woman. Hot curvaceous body that she wore with confidence and that drove Tyler BANANAS!! She was my favorite!!
I have so much love for this story, and I can’t wait for everyone to read it!!
“I loved him. I loved him when I thought I hated him. I loved him when he let me be his friend. I loved him because he always had me. There wasn’t a time Tyler Bennett wasn’t the center of my world, it just took me a years long minute to realize why.”
**4.5 Stars** What do you do when you’re to scared to express your feelings to a certain someone ? You lash out or irritate the person until they don’t want to be around you. Olivia was in such predicament for most of her life when it came to Tyler. She wanted his attention but lacked the words.
Olivia and Tyler were so much fun and their chemistry undeniable. It’s easy to see and understand why Tyler had so mixed emotions about Olivia. They go way back and they’ve known each other since they were kids. The grumpy baker was struggling with his own emotions when it came to the amazing Olivia. Irritation and attraction. I enjoyed getting their shared history which only established a deeper connection between the two of them. The fake dating trope was done so well in Just One Favor. Olivia and Tyler doing the best they could to show off and also hiding their mutual attraction. It was a sensual slow dance before they would come to together and explode. Explode they certainly did and it was memorable. Especially for the both of them. A night they’ll never forget.
The side characters were so good. Especially their parents and Olivia’s best friend Morgan. A certain someone from one of Rose’s previous books made an appearance and I cheered. Such a wonderful “Easter Egg”.
As much as Just One Favor was fun and sexy it had a serious side to it also which I really liked. It was well balanced and suited the tone of the story beautifully. Relatable characters with so much heart and personality. A Stephanie Rose specialty.

Did someone say snarky banter? The queen of sarcasm cannot say no to that! BUT WAIT - if you are one who is worried because you aren't the tension loving bookworm I am - I have good news - this is not the enemies to lovers you normally get.
So heroines who are strong-willed, minded, and mouthed - are truly hard to write and please readers. Why? Because secretly we all want to be 'her' but in real life are often leery and don't ever want to be in her crossfire. Stephanie Rose hits this one out of the park with the difficult task of making a relatable, wears her heart on her sleeve covered in brashness heroine. She is a cinnamon roll heroine with a super sweet Cinnabon center covered in hot tamales. That's Olivia.
Then there is Tyler. He is successfully built up a small business but tortured by both his childhood nemesis and family. He is all the things you want in a true-heart boyfriend. But he is us. He is leery of Olivia because he wants out of her crossfire but secretly wishes to burn in her sphere.
However the secret they both don't know? They have chemistry in spades and just throw up walls to save face. However when the masks come down and the truth comes out - POW! there is just chemistry oozing everywhere.
No secret from me. I loved Safeguard. It quickly became my number 1 Stephanie Rose book. But something about these two - the honest adulting overcoming the stupidity of their youth and giving into the chemistry was spellbinding to read. Now Olivia and Tyler take the shelf.
I recommend you nab this book on release day and be prepared to not come up for air until 'the end'.
At first glance this book is everything I love. Enemies to Lovers, surprise pregnancy. Two tropes that are definitely my faves.
Tyler and Olivia have been enemies since they have been children. When Tyler‘s ex and her new husband, Tyler‘s ex-best friend, are invited to Tyler‘s cousin‘s wedding Olivia offers to be his fake date for the evening. This is when their story get‘s spicy!
I really tried liking this book more then I did. The writing was excwllent and the story was good, but I just didn‘t like Olivia. She was so spoiled and annoying and yeah I just didn‘t like her, even though the author tried to change her to the better as an adult, it just didn‘t come accross like she had changed. At least for me.
It is a good book and I like the cover/ storyline but the main heroine was not it for me.
Adorable one minute and then bed-breaking steamy the next, this was a very solid read. Rose is a new-to-me author, but it didn't take long for me to realize that her writing is right up my alley. The hero was cinnamon roll sweet with alpha vibes in the bedroom, the chemistry was immediate, and the shared history made this a rich, fulfilling read. These two have known each other their whole lives, and they've always had sparks - one way or another. What once felt like bickering now feels a whole lot like banter, and I loved how perfectly they fit into each other's lives. Really the only thing holding me back from a 5-star rating is an awkward lull in the middle. I get why it was necessary - this is an accidental baby romance, after all - but it basically demolished all of the momentum. But I enjoyed this quite a bit overall, and I will definitely be checking out more from the author.
The story follows Olivia and Tyler, two people who have been in each other's lives for as long as they can remember. Most of that time against their will. Their parents are friends, so Olivia and Tyler are connected, despite the fact that they've always clashed. The sparks that fly between them have always felt like hate, but when Olivia agrees to do Tyler a favor (be his date to a wedding he's dreading), the whole dynamic starts to shift. What should've been a one-night truce turns into something else entirely, and neither one is sure what to think. So when Olivia discovers that she's pregnant, it's just one more change to the dynamic.
It's my first time reading something by Rose, so I really didn't know what to expect going in - but I really liked this. Tyler is such a sweet guy, a baker who is loving and loyal. I loved how steady he was, the perfect complement to Olivia's fire. He may not know how to handle her, but he's certainly willing to try. I also liked Olivia, even though it sounds like she's been a bit of a brat to Tyler in the past. It's definitely got a frenemies to lovers vibe at the start, though things are softer and easier later on. The only thing that really bugged me was the lack of communication - these two waste a whole lot of time by not saying what's on their minds, and that drove me a little crazy. I'm still convinced there was a better way to handle the middle of the book, but I loved how low angst the overall story feels. This was a very solid introduction to Rose's work, and I'm eager to read some more.
Just One Favor was an awesome read! I am a huge fan of enemies to lovers so I was excited to read this. I had a great time learning all about Tyler and Olivia and that animosity between them. It was entertaining, sweet, and sexy with a nice bit of angst mixed in. There’s also a mention of 9 months later in the synopsis and I was all in.
Tyler and Olivia were charming characters. I liked learning their history about why they didn’t get along and what was underneath it all. I felt for Olivia and where she was at in life and all that Tyler was trying to accomplish with his business. I loved the favor aspect and how they saw each other in a new light because of it. I loved the push and pull between them and the building sexual tension. I loved their walls coming down and them opening up. There’s also the 9 months later factor that added an extra layer of goodness that I really liked. They have a lot of ups and downs but I loved them together, that chemistry they had, and all the emotional moments.
This was a fast-paced read with good details. It gave me just what I needed to keep me hooked and turning the page because I was eager to find out what would happen next. There were fun scenes and sad ones too, a bit of mild drama that was easily resolved, and a nice amount of heat. I did get frustrated with them on occasion because of their lack of communication but they got there in the end and it was worth the wait.
This is one of those stories that has a little bit of everything I like and I felt invested the entire time. I enjoyed the characters and storyline and thought they had a wonderful HEA.

The fine line between hate and love. So thin it can be erased with one touch, one longed-for kiss. Tyler and Olivia have teetered on the edge of this line for so long, neither can remember a time they weren’t at odds with each other. Until one favor is offered. Until one kiss is shared. Then everything changed. A read that takes you through the highs and lows of loving someone. Dealing with loss. Changing your mind. Accepting the truth. Facing a future you never expected. I loved her strength and independence. His pride and tenderness. Their banter. Her support. His need. One line sticks out for me. “Shut up and let me love you. Because I do…” Somehow this just fit for them. Sweet and salty—the perfect blend. And that is what these two are.
i picked just one favor up on a whim a few days ago, not expecting much but a cute read and oh my gosh.. how this book surpassed expectations i didn’t even have!!
tyler and olivia have known each other since they were kids and were always coming for each others necks. olivia never passed a chance to piss tyler off and tyler never passed a chance to argue back with olivia. few years later, olivia is living back at home and tyler and her have decided to make amends and put the childhood enemies to an end.
tyler and olivia are the cutest😭🤍. the way these two had always had a thing for each other took me outtt! the tension between these two and the moments they gave into each other had me swooning! and olivia being tyler’s number 1 hype man when he’s never had that did things to my heart. i absolutely adored these two so much and im so happy i picked this book up.
Enemies to Lovers for THE WIN! Tyler and Olivia are next level childhood nemeses; even at 35 years old they cannot stand to be in the same room. But, as they say, there is a fine line between love and hate.
I really loved the flashbacks to when they were younger and how all their interactions seemed negative, but were really about how they had feelings that they couldn’t identify or trust. Their banter was the stuff of legends, so funny what they called each other.
I really liked how Olivia owned her behavior from when they were younger and really tried to make amends. That they ended up in a bedroom because of it, all the better!
This has a trope in it that I’m not usually a fan of, but it was handled well and as a source of happiness rather than conflict. And the end conflict was nothing too series, low angst with this one.
I really loved how supportive Olivia was for Tyler and his business. I love a man that can bake, and obviously Olivia does too. Tyler didn’t have a lot of people respecting his life choices and I love that Olivia became a huge cheerleader for him.
Olivia struggles a lot with her father’s death, so if you are sensitive to that, know it going in.
(ARC REVIEW): So going into this book, I knew about the pregnancy trope. It's pretty clear from the description, the book makes no moves to hide it. Surprisingly, that was not my main issue with this. I think it was fine. That's all I can really say. It was okay, fine, decent. Decent smut, decent characters, decent plot points.
My main issue is that this book is not what it publicizes itself to be. Enemies to lovers? Sort of? But my issue with that part was that the banter and 'enemy' nature died away too quickly. Grumpy main character? Not really. He actually was a sweetheart.
I think this is just such a solid 3 star read. The pregnancy trope was done surprisingly well, but I just wanted so much more from the build-up of the relationship. It definitely felt a little rushed in my opinion. It had the makings of a charming small-town romance, but it just didn't live up to what I wanted. It wasn't necessarily ~bad~ there are just so many other good enemies to lovers stories out there. If pregnancy trope is your jam then this is definitely a higher rec. But unfortunately, it is not for me.
Just One Favor by Stephanie Rose is heartwarming, panty-melting perfection. I love the way Rose developed her main characters, Olivia and Tyler, both as individuals and as a couple. Seeing inside their minds through the first person POV gave a beautifully intimate look into their thoughts and feelings, both about themselves and each other. The character and story development are perfectly paced. And the steam is well, let’s say it’s as spicy and intense as the characters; yeah, it’s got a perfect flashpoint. My Kindle copy is peppered with highlights of witty banter, introspective thoughts by the main characters, and observations and quotes by the minor characters as well. Rose does a truly beautiful job of developing those minor characters as major factors and influences in the character’s lives. The “wisdom of the elders” infused throughout the novel creates interactions that feel like home; they are real, authentic, and comforting for the characters and the reader. Plus, every character in this novel is memorable and delightful, there are no superfluous or unnecessary people in Tyler and Olivia’s story. If you absolutely must have some angst in your romance novel, Rose has some of that for you, too. And you may just want to have some tissues handy for the last 20% of the book. Just One Favor is a standalone novel, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want more of the characters in the story.
Just One Favor gave me all the swoony feels. This enemies to lovers romance was packed with sexual tension that had me buzzing, chemistry that brought the fire, banter that was downright ferocious, and feel good moments that had me smiling so big.
Olivia and Tyler have known each other since they were young and their relationship was not at all sunshine. They grew up hating each other, or did they? Now as adults they’re finally really getting to know each other and their journey as they explore all those feelings that have only multiplied since then. I really enjoyed Olivia and Tyler’s story and I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
*I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book*
A fave of 2022 for sure! This couple takes hate to love to a WHOLE new level. The lines of hate and love are most def toed along. When I tell you that Olivia has tortured the hero his whole life, so much so, that at family/neighborhood gatherings he AVOIDS yet LOOKS for her! Because he is scared yet TURNED ON by her. Olivia is fierce, but has her flaws, her character growth is so real and lovely. I love her mesh of cultures, its not a huge role in the plot but I love how she is mixed with Italian and Puerto Rican. I love how she takes control, yet relinquishes it... I am a big fan girl of Olivia if you can tell. This hate to love, enemies to lovers, rivals to soul mates book is soooooooo good! You need to read this book!
Just One Favor by Stephanie Rose is a contemporary enemies-to-lovers fake-relationship romance told in first person dual POV. It follows the relationship between Tyler Bennett and Olivia Sanchez—enemies since childhood—who agree to attend a wedding together as a pretend couple.
Olivia has been torturing Tyler since childhood, intentionally pushing his buttons for sport. Even now, as 35-year-old adults, Tyler avoids Olivia because she continues to revel in driving him crazy. His favorite cousin is getting married, but when Tyler finds out the bride-to-be is related to his cheating ex-fiancée—who’s now pregnant and married to his former best friend—he’s dreading the wedding.
When Olivia finds out, she offers to go as Tyler’s date to help him save face. She’s not about to let those horrible people mess with him; after all, that’s her job. With an undeniable attraction and explosive chemistry, Olivia and Tyler end up having a good time together—waaay too good—and neither knows how to handle it. Have these feelings always been beneath the surface? Has that been their problem all along? And can they stop bickering long enough to build something lasting? Read the book to find out.
I loooved Olivia and Tyler's story! I was hooked from the start, and read it in one sitting. As characters, they were relatable, well-developed, likable, and realistically flawed. The flashback scenes from their childhood were adorable, and their interactions with each other were so much fun! I loved their witty banter and off-the-charts crackling chemistry. Tyler and Olivia were so sweet together that I was smiling from ear to ear. Their story was cute, funny, romantic, endearing, and sexy.
This was such a cute book!! Tyler and Olivia gave me all the feels in this enemies-to-friends-to-lovers romance and I just had the biggest smile on my face while I was reading. You can feel that thin line between love and hate here so well, and I loved that when these two were at each other's throats, they still.. well wanted to be at each others throats. *winks*
So Olivia and Tyler have known each other their entire lives -- their moms are best friends - bit the two of them have never gotten along. More like Olivia made sure to push poor Tyler's buttons every chance she got to the point where she was referenced as the she devil on numerous occasions, but now that they are in their 30s, Olivia wants to call a truce. She recently just lost her dad, her mom is sick, and she doesn't want to play games anymore. And when she overhears that Tyler will be making the cake for a cousin he actually likes and learns his ex fiance and his ex best friend will both be there, she decides a fake date is the best way to put to bed this ancient rivalry. And oh man, was she right! 😉
These two had such amazing chemistry, and I'm not surprised one bit about the other trope that came to fruition here! I absolutely ADORED that Tyler was a baker and owned his own shop (Love alllll the gender reversals!) and that Liv moonlighted as a food blogger. These two were just made for each other!
The flashbacks between these two had me laughing so hard, and present day had me swooning! I really enjoyed that Tyler wasn't really an alpha man, rather he was so emotional himself and just knew what Liv needed when she needed it. Their transition between enemies to a soul defying love was so effortless, and that just takes so much skill. I can't wait for more from this author!
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!!**
I was generously given an ARC in exchange for an honest review! f: Olivia m: Tyler (Dual POVs)
These two have been enemies their whole lives but underneath it all, they’ve both mutually pined for one another for just as long. The book quickly gets into Olivia offering a truce to try to end the 30-year long feud between them so there isn’t as much hostility between them present day, but we do get to see a few glimpses of the antagonistic relationship they had growing up. Olivia always seemed to be the instigator when they were younger so it was fitting that she was the one to extend the olive branch first. I was relieved that Olivia took responsibility for all of the tension and negative feelings between her and Tyler, because it was mostly due to things that she did or said when they were growing up.
I could relate to Olivia, on a deep level and I felt sympathy for her and the guilt she held onto for things that were out of her control. If I’m being honest, I kind of thought she seemed a bit self-centered at times with the way she was always so desperate for Tyler’s attention, but it didn’t make me dislike her character. It really warmed my heart to see Olivia go from being an enemy, to being Tyler’s biggest supporter and aly. I admired Tyler’s passion for the bakery, despite people not always being supportive about him starting and owning his own business.
Overall, I really liked this book and enjoyed the emotions it evoked in me. This was my first book by this author but with the depth of feelings it gave me and the ease of being able to connect with the characters, I’m definitely looking forward to reading more from her. Especially if more of her heroes are dirty talkers like Tyler!
Favorite Quotes: “Your memory is fuzzy. It was a long time ago.” “When it comes to you, I remember it all. Trust me.”
“I said ride, Olivia,” -Tyler
as far as I was concerned, I was more than spoken for– I was owned. -Tyler
Tyler and Olivia have known each other forever. Their moms are best friends. And they’ve hated each other forever too. But maybe something else is under the surface. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to everyone.
This is my first story by this author. Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite tropes. A fake relationship, crazy families, close proximity and surprise pregnancy make this jam packed with all ingredients for a yummy recipe. The resulting entree is divine and the dessert delicious.
Tyler is a baker, he’s self employed and owns his bakery. He thinks his family doesn’t fully support his dream. Olivia is a marketing whiz, secret food blogger who misses her dad terribly and worries non-stop about her mom. She’s bold, brazen and has made Tyler’s life a living hell from the time they were toddlers. Their mothers are best friends and the families are frequently together.
Olivia wants to put the past behind them and be friends. Tyler is hesitant, yet agrees and accepts her offer to help him, to be his fake girlfriend for his cousin’s wedding. The saying goes, “there is a thin line between love and hate”. For Tyler and Olivia that line is razor thin and wicked steamy.
I enjoyed this story very much. Discovering in the author’s notes it was born as a TMAS idea from Lucy Score’s reader group just made it that much better. Plus it has the cutest name for a bakery ever.
Just One Favor is an enemies-to-friends-to lovers with wonderful characters that will keep you entertained the entire time. Tyler Bennett and Olivia Sanchez (she’s half Italian and half Puerto Rican) grew up together in the same small town, and readers will be treated to flashbacks of their distain for one another early on. But there is a fine line between love and hate and as the story develops, you’ll come to learn that perhaps they were too young and immature at the time to process their feelings.
Now as grown-ups, they still cross paths and Tyler is torn between wanting to ravish her or wanting to run far, far, away. She is a spitfire and has such an effect on Tyler. She makes his head spin and it had me laughing on many pages. They have two meddling moms, and he has siblings and co-workers who aren’t shy about sharing their two cents.
Tyler followed his dream of becoming a chef and owns a local bakery. Olivia is a social media marketing manager by day and an undercover food blogger by night. They are in their 30’s now and still banter like the best of them, and you can feel the sexual tension on every page! What I love most about Just One Favor is the character growth of both our hero and heroine. They aren’t children anymore and their relationship takes a major turn when she suggests he could take her as his “fake” date to his cousin’s wedding where his ex will be. It’s painful for him as she left him for his best friend, and he begrudgingly accepts the hot little temptress' offer, and there is no turning back.
I loved Olivia’s sass, how she cared for her mom and misses her dad who recently passed, and how she was an independent business professional. I am in marketing as well and always like when it is included in a storyline. Olivia uses her talents to help Tyler’s business, expecting nothing in return. Even though he is guarded and a bit grumpy at times, he is shocked to learn just how much he enjoys being with Olivia, and how her warm upbeat energy makes his soul come alive. She shows through all of her actions just what a kind, thoughtful, and selfless person she is. Every page gets better and better.
I loved their deep connection, their family values, and their journey after their first night of super steamy sexy times resulted in a pregnancy. They made each other better versions of themselves, and it really was beautiful to see how they supported and encouraged one another, and accepted each other unconditionally, flaws and all.
She didn’t resent him for his long hours and he was so sweet during her entire pregnancy showing her over and over that she was the only woman for him. He may not have always had the right words and stumbled a bit, but he came through like a champ in the end. I can honestly say I routed for them the entire time, and love how it ended. I especially enjoyed the bonus epilogue six years into the future!
You know what Stephanie Rose is really amazing at, setting a kissing scene. I swear I could feel Tyler’s grip in my hair. The mood from the start I felt in my heart. From heartache, longing, happiness, lust, and love. Every. Single. Time. It was as delicious as Tyler’s cookies. 🤤
It’s so well written. Tyler and Olivia at one time were friends, it doesn’t last long. LOL From craving Tyler’s attention and knocking easy bake oven cake batter out of his young hands, Olivia didn’t know what to do with all of her overwhelming emotions.
Another amazing aspect to this story was that it was a lot on Olivia. The female main character, had to evolve, had to put it out there, in ways she was the meaner one. She may have grabbed everyone’s attention, but at the end of her days she only wanted Tyler’s. I related to her. She felt like she was always a lot. A lot of hair, a lot of sway in her hips, and personality, but she owned it so well. She wore her heart on her sleeve.
She attended all his baseball games, and little did she know how much he watched her, I loved how he describes her beauty as unfair. WHEW! Got me every time.
Fast forward and Olivia is in digital advertising, and Tyler is a sexy, thirst trap, grumpy baker! Their moms are best friends, their paths cross, and he is in need of a date. One night leads to so much more.
“That line you keep talking about is thin.” “So fucking thin.”
“Take off the mask, Olivia. You may find it easier to breathe.”
“Feels like you’re torturing the both of us, right? How long have you been this wet for me?” “Always.”
I felt like they found their person in one another. Tyler smiled more and he was damn good to her, her “a lot” was everything to him. Olivia was able to be her most vulnerable self with him.
What a sexy, cute, romantic book! And I sure did love that Easter egg in this book.
𝐋𝐞𝐭'𝐬 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤. 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐅𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐮𝐫 is a contemporary Fake-Relationship/ Enemies-To-Lovers Romance. It follows Tyler and Olivia who have been enemies and rivals since childhood. The story takes on the role of a fake relationship when Tyler is due to attend his cousins wedding but soon finds out his cheating ex-fiancée and his ex-best friend will be attending which promts Olivia to offer her services as "𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘦" for the event. After all, if someone is going to mess with Tyler it's going to be 𝐡𝐞𝐫. Combustible chemistry and undeniable heat have these two finding that maybe they misjudged the fine line between love and hate.
𝐌𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬. I thougherly enjoyed this book. Already a fan of enemies to lovers and fake relationship tropes but combining the two was sheer magic from the author. Tyler and Olivia were beautiful characters and I couldn't get enough of their chemistry, banter and yes bickering. The flashing back to their childhood added another layer of of sweetness to this already adorable love story and I devoured it in one sitting. The storyline itself was well developed and flowed beautifully. It was sexy, sweet, funny and perfect for lovers of romance.
𝐖𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐈 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤?. Absolutely yes. Whether you are already a fan of the author or trying her for the first time I highly recommend you pick up this book.
* I was given a copy of the Arc in exchange for my honest review *
Tyler Bennett and Olivia Sanchez grew up as childhood enemies. They were forced together as their mothers were best friends, and at every turn Olivia was pushing buttons.
Now in their thirties the dynamic is still the same. Tyler is the owner of a successful bakery and Olivia works in marketing and has a side gig as a foodie. Olivia calls for a cease fire and offers to be Tyler's date to a wedding and fake a relationship. Only faking it got real. And the line between hate and love dissapeared.
They have scorching chemistry and neither knows how to deal with it. Life has a way of bringing them back together and they have to face their feelings.
I always love SR's writing, her style really connects for me and this book is no different. I devoured it, the banter and spice were amazing! I can't recommend this title enough! I liked the flashback scenes woven throughout. And it was refreshing to see the heroine cast as the bully who had difficulty expressing herself. As far as tropes it captures some of my favorites: enemies to lovers, fake dating, forced proximity...and more!
Tyler and Olivia are childhood rivals, they were at each other's throat at every change they got. Now that they are in their thirties it's time to reconsider their relationship.
Olivia has moved back in town and she wants to make ammends for her past behavior, so she offers a truce that could make living in the same town less stressful for both.
When a change to help Tyler out presents itself Olivia offers to be his fake date for his cousin wedding, since his ex will be also be attending.
What starts as a fake date quickly becomes real and neither can say that they are pretending anymore. There was years of hidden pining and it was incredibly to see how it was translated in chemistry, which resulted in some very steamy scenes.
I like how the childhood rivals was used and how the heroine was the one who had to make ammends for the past. You can see how much Olivia regretted her past behavior and how she has grown. I liked how Tyler didn't held the past over her head but he gave her a chance.
* I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion.
Olivia Sanchez and Tyler Bennett never got along as kids but they are all grown up now. When Tyler needs a date to a family wedding, where his ex will also be, he figures taking Olivia won’t be an issue. Neither like each other so it’s more like a business transaction…right? Well, they may have more in common then they think once they stop “hating” each-other. This is a sweet and fun enemies to lovers romance. I really enjoyed these characters and their interactions. Who doesn’t love a handsome baker with a grumpy side? Told in dual POV
Just One Favor was an easy read full of all of the good stuff. Enemies to lovers turned fake relationship with a surprise baby on top = a story I'm glad I read!
Tyler and Olivia have been thrust together since they were little since their parents were friends. Although they never got along there was always a longing there. It was a very thin line between love and hate for these two. Tyler makes an amazing swoony baker with such a sweet side its a perfect fit. Olivia has many sides and when she opens up it makes her character all the better. Great story!
Another sunshine-grump, enemies to lovers romance but I liked that the heroine was the confident one who kept tugging on the hero’s pigtails, so to speak. The fact that she’s half Latinx was decently done, and overall I thought they were cute together.
The thing that pulled me back from loving and rating a bit higher was the tendency towards repeating in their internal monologue their central conflict. Over and over, hearing their insecurities without breaking it up more with dialogue made the middle lag for me. But it was cute and I’d check out more from this author.
2022 has not been my year when it comes to reading these days. So when I find THAT book it makes it even more special because I’ve struggled so much. Olivia and Tyler are so dang swoon worthy!! I couldn’t put this down and needed to know what happened next! Ms. Rose has done it again. And pulled me out of an epic book slump while she was at it!
Oh, I loved this enemies-to-lovers romance! The banter between Olivia and Tyler was just so GOOD! Tyler and Olivia have known each other forever. There has always been chemistry between them even though they didn't realize it until much later. And when they finally acted on it, it was explosive! I also loved the side characters! Can't recommend this book highly enough.
