Hmmm.... this is hard to rate. I want to like it more since the story is promising. At the end I only can settle with 3 stars.
Like a Boss has potential. Sadly it was not edited very good. So the whole story, the banter, the characters stuck in the story. Bursting to get out but settle with mediocre.
Miss Harper certainly has talent. I am looking forward for her next book, which hopefully will be better.

This was my first book by this author. When I was halfway in, I picked up the other book she has published, and I am reading it next. This story is written in third person from a dual POV.
The author has created a fantastic small-town setting in Arbor Bay, Alabama. The reader gets to experience southern sensibilities with the characters in the town. Nell is a feisty, fiery, youngest sister of a family of five children. At 24, she is confident and determined to succeed. She is unafraid to speak her mind and at times her thoughts are loud. She thinks fast on her feet and is always working her way out of one chaotic mess or another, which leads to many funny situations. I absolutely adored her character!
Quinn (34) is starting over in Arbor Bay as a single dad after his divorce. He is not looking for a relationship and he is not prepared for the force that is Antonella. The have instant attraction and the ability to laugh together. It scares him silly. I loved the way Nell helps him understand his new town. I love the shenanigans they end up in. I love the chemistry between them. And I love that Quinn finally admits that he has fallen hard for the girl who is a force of nature.
Humor, a little spice, and wonderful characters make up a story that is fun with very little angst. I love the plot of a viral video and its impact of the subject. As the author’s second book, I am impressed. I believe this author has the potential to be a favorite of many. I am excited to read more of her work and follow her journey.

This book follows Nell who, on Valentine’s Day, caused a scene in a restaurant on the fact that she didn’t have a date and was miraculously saved by a stranger, Quinn. They share a date and an unexpected kiss and part ways. Only to recognise eachother next day at WORK.
This book was a charming friends to lovers romance with a grumpy hero and a sunshine heroine. It’s also an office romance with Quinn being her boss.
However it wasn’t the book for me :( many moments in this book just seemed too cliche especially the main protagonists. Their personalities didn’t have anything different or special or unique and it just felt like ‘one of the many’ romances.

"We forget all about the person who had to be someone's learning experience."
The book started off well and I liked Nell's frustration in the first chapter when she was spitting facts about love. But all throughout the book, it was a little hard to finish.
I'll start with the things I like:
1. Quinn is very well-written. His thoughts and actions, even his hesitations are clear.
2. Quinn drinking his respect women tea everyday <3
3. Mateo and Nell's adorable relationship.
4. I appreciate the attempt in making the book fun and lively
On the other hand, I feel like Nell's character was a little flat, to be honest. This is a "ball-of-sunshine" female lead and "i-hate-everyone" (sort of) male lead kind of trope. But only Quinn's character is described well-enough, Nell's character is written in a way that she's just TOLD to be fun but I didn't really see or feel it at all. I think Nell's family could have been cut down to a few because they felt almost non-existent (perhaps, I just failed to see their importance other than Nell's relationships) but I know its role in Nell's character so there's that. I didn't connect with the characters at all and found that I simply didn't care that much.
Overall, the story felt a little too corny to me. I wasn't a big fan of the writing. Somehow it seemed like it was more on telling rather than showing in terms of the description that I also found corny. It was just not for me but I can see older audiences enjoying this book.

I loved Anne Harper’s first book (Fake It Till You Make It), so I had high hopes for this one. While I still enjoyed it, it fell a little bit flat for me. This story felt like it tried to do a lot, but it did all of them half way.
Nell has just broken up with her boyfriend and lost her purse. She is filmed by two teenagers in a restaurant yelling at the host. Quinn is also at the restaurant, and invites her to share the Valentine’s day special with her since they are both alone and it is cheaper to order as a couple. At the end of the meal, they take a picture for the wall of couples, share a kiss, and then he leaves without asking for her number or anything. Nell shows up to work on Monday, and he is her new boss.
There are lots of shenanigans throughout this book which were a nice touch. I appreciated the little bit of humor it added to the story. However, this book tried to be about the video of her going viral, a single dad, an age gap, and a workplace romance. Other than the workplace romance, it felt like everything else was just thrown in to be able to say this book has that trope. The age difference is 10 years but is only mentioned twice and is not a big deal to the story. His son is sweet, but we barely hear anything about him until 40% into the book, and then only for a little bit. While I enjoyed these aspects of the story, I wanted more.

A funny, small town, single/divorced Dad office romance. I really enjoyed the small town charm and the quirky cast of characters. Loved the meet-cute and the slow burn, closed door, dual perspective romance between the MCs. Great on audio and a delightful listen! Highly recommended especially for fans of The suite spot by Trish Doller.

This cover is so cute! I love emojis but I definitely would not want to go viral. It seems like going viral could include people being supportive and kind but it also would bring in the negativity and unsolicited d pics.
Nell's long time boyfriend broke up with her on the most romantic holiday causing her to go ballistic at a restaurant that was having a couples night. A hottie who was also alone invited her to sit with him to share his couples meal. They felt a connection but parted ways at the end of the night.
Someone caught her rant in the restaurant and posted it online and now Nell has gone viral. This is a very small southern town so everyone already knows everyone's business.
And the hottie who shared her meal ends up being a replacement at her work a week later. Let the tension start....
There are some douchy hometown guys trying to get to her now that she's single and expose her on their own social accounts. And her work place is about to be sold.
No one has time for a relationship! Especially since she swore off guys in the viral video. We are allowed to be in pain and say things in the heat of the moment when our heart is broken and we don't think anyone will ever be the one again. We don't owe the world an explanation when we change our minds.
This was a sweet romance. Loved the hometown feel of it and Quinn's (that's the hotties name) single Dad grouch non tech status. I guess there are people that don't want the world to know that they are doing. This was a quick read.

Cute and forgettable, that's what I'd call this. It's a low angst, easy-going, small town romance with a touch of the forbidden, and there were plenty of moments that I enjoyed. I loved the adorable meet cute, and the humor made this a lighthearted, easy read. I also liked the opposites attract vibe, and the combination of these two very different characters had a ton of potential. But, ultimately, it ended up being just that... potential. The romance falls flat after too much push/pull from our hero, and it ended up being pretty unsatisfying. Honestly, there was just something missing from the whole book. I can't pinpoint any one moment that was a major issue for me, but I also can't pinpoint any one moment that was particularly great either.
The story follows Nell and Quinn, two strangers who meet on Valentine's Day. After a disastrous breakup has left Nell alone and brokenhearted on Valentine's Day, Quinn finds himself offering to split an item from the couples menu at the restaurant they're both at - which is completely out of character for him. They spend one fun evening together, chatting over dinner and even sharing a steamy kiss, but Quinn flees at the end of the night. He's a newly single dad who is determined to get his life back together, and that means he needs to focus on his new job. Unfortunately, that new job involves him being Nell's boss, and their kiss isn't easy to forget.
On paper, this sounds like just my kind of romance: it's light, low angst, playful, and the office romance/opposites attract storyline are right up my alley. It's the writing itself that holds this back, which doesn't do the storyline any favors. We needed more from Quinn to make this shine, maybe some enthusiasm about the relationship, and a few less instances of him running scared. The most difficult reviews to write are for books that you know you'll forget in a few days, and that's absolutely where I'm at with this. This book gave me insane Heart of Dixie vibes throughout the entire novel. So, if you’re a fan of southern flare then buckle up because you’ll love this rom com romance.
The premise of this novel was great. Nell, a loud and outgoing girl who is going through a recent break up meets Quinn, a shy guy who is just passing through town. They connect over dinner. It’s happenstance that Quinn ends up being Nell’s new boss. They’re out through some trials and tribulations that force them to work together and we as readers see just “how meant to be” they truly are while they as the characters are unaware until the last possible moment.
It’s a predictable read with cute and funny moments dispersed throughout the novel. This is definitely one of the stereotypical cliched romance reads.
The author tried to bring a twist into the cliche by making the protagonist, Nell, go viral during a diatribe she has about never dating again. This rant happens on Valentine’s Day of all days at a restaurant where lots of people whip out their phone to record the incident. This twist, was a welcome one. The added twists off Keith, a sketchy blog journalist, following around Nell to show “the world” that she isn’t who she says she is and is in fact out about and saying men even though she swore off men felt out of place. I could see if she was promoting her non dating rant to everyone and that was how Nell made her money but Nell ranted right after a breakup. She was hysterical and used that moment to vent and release all the emotions she was feeling about the relationship she was in ending. Having someone hold you to what you said during one of those types of rants doesn’t make sense. It’s like me saying I don’t like not fitting in my skinny jeans and will start a diet in Monday. NO one is going to hold me to it but myself. Keith’s don’t exist so he felt out of place in this novel.
Other than that, this novel was a good and solid read. It flowed well and kept me entertained throughout.

Like a Boss is a fun and charming rom-com with wonderful characters and a lovely slow-burn romance. Nell is a fantastic protagonist and my favorite character in the book! She has an endearing personality that easily wins people over. Flirty, passionate, and fun, Nell has strong opinions and isn’t afraid to voice them. Her character is dynamic and well-layered, and I like that she reveals her fears and frustrations, as well as her strengths and successes.
When a video of Nell goes viral at the start of the story, her vulnerability is exposed for all the world to see, and I like how she handles the unwanted fame. I also like that this video reveals how strong and independent she is. Nell is a good friend, a hard worker, and she has this effervescent quality that is irresistible, especially to her new boss and potential love interest.
Quinn is new to Arbor Bay, but he fits right in with the locals well, especially Nell’s friends and family. He’s a fabulous leading man, and I love his intellect, kindness, and determination to do right by his son. Quin is starting over and hopes that Arbor Bay is the perfect place for a fresh start.
New to town and trying to find a home for himself and his young son, Quinn isn’t looking for a relationship, but he finds it hard to resist the bubbly and infectious Nell. This pair has amazing chemistry, and they are so drawn to each other. They connect and fit so well together, and it’s fun to follow them as they slowly realize the depth of their feelings.
Nell’s family and her two closest friends are wonderful and another part of the story that I adore. Boisterous and nosy, loyal and funny, Nell’s siblings and parents highlight the unbreakable bonds of family. Nell’s family is super supportive, and they always have her back. I love that Nell has so many people that love and support her, and her strong ties to them and her community say a lot about her priorities.
The small-town of Arbor Bay, where everyone knows everybody else, adds so much charm to the story. It’s also the perfect setting for the slow-burning romance between Nell and Quinn. Nell and Quinn’s story shows how wonderful it is to live somewhere where everyone knows and cares for each other, and it also shows how invasive and annoying it is at times. Like the characters, the town is realistically portrayed and unique!

This was a decent rom-com book. While this is the second book in a series, I did not know that when I started and felt the story worked well as a standalone.
The tone of the book overall is light. I enjoyed the grumpy/ sunshine trope that Quinn and Nell had throughout the book, and there is also a bit of a forced proximity trope due to the small town setting and the fact that Quinn and Nell unexpectedly become boss and employee.
I thought the opening of the book was very funny! I loved Nell ranting in a restaurant on Valentine's Day about being dumped and how that evolved in to a meet-cute with Quinn. Overall, I liked both of the main characters. They both had good development throughout the story and were enjoyable to read. There were some great scenes that lead to an almost slapstick feel of the story.
That being said, I did not rate this book higher because I felt like the pace was really off. There were certain things that were brought up , like how important Nell felt her first meeting to Owen was, that were then completely glossed over. There were also some parts that felt really drawn out, while the ending seemed completely rushed to me. I wanted to hear more about Nell and Quinn once he was finally settled and they were really together! I did not get much of a taste of their HEA, and found that disappointing. Also, the fact that the one truly steamy scene was basically cut off right at the (for lack of a better word) climax, and then never picked up again? Disappointing.

Like a Boss is the second book in Anne Harper’s Accidentally Viral series, but it works perfectly fine as a standalone novel. I have not read the prior book and I had no trouble connecting with this one.
Like a Boss was a story that easily grabbed me, ensuring I was happy to devour the story in no time. It was sweet and entertaining, although I would not go so far as to say it’s a book that I’ll ever consider a favourite. It is one of those books that is perfect for easy reading, for something light that will leave you smiling. There is some drama, but nothing is ever overly intense. In some ways, I feel it’s because the book tried to do a lot and never quite took things as far as they could have been taken. Despite this, it was entertaining enough to leave me curious about the first book in the series.
All in all, Like a Boss is perfect for light reading.

First of all, I would like to say thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me an ARC in exchange for an honest review!
I honestly loved this book so much! It made me smile and laugh, it made me want to scream at the characters but it also had me on the verge of tears.
At first, I thought that the beginning was a bit predictable and from that time I thought that I wasn’t going to like the rest of the book, but I was definitely wrong! Every passing page just made it better and better and I didn’t want to stop reading!
I definitely think this book is worth the time and read, it made me smile so much and I just loved the way this book was written and how it ended.

[I received a digital arc for an honest review]
Like a Boss is a new romance by author Anne Harper. I adored her debut novel Fake It Till You Make It, so I was excited for this one. Also, her cover game is on point 😍This one is an office romance featuring a divorced dad and his spunky employee who is the center of town gossip.
Sadly, I didn't love this as much as the first. It was good, and I thought the leading female Nell was fantastic. She was such a huge personality I was always looking forward to what situation she would find herself in next. I also loved her family , oh my gosh they were wonderful and solid. However, our leading male Quinn, was disappointing. HE goes hot and cold so often it was completely frustrating. I was excited at first to learn he was a divorced soon to be single parent. Whenever he would talk about his son or talk to him on the phone he was so loving and warm but his son is barely in the book at all. The romance between was very angsty will little pay off because of its low steam. The angst but lack of steam made the story drag at times and I found myself bored. The ending was a little anticlimactic even if __ proclamation of love was sweet , at the end I was just left feeling underwhelmed.
Even though Like A Boss didn't work for me, I still really enjoy Anne Sharpers writing overall and I'll be keeping an eye out for more of her books.

In Like a Boss we meet Nell after a recent breakup. She has a meet cute with Quinn and it seems like the sparks are flying on both sides. Unfortunately, that's where the magic ended for me.
Like a Boss was full of tropes, a new one starting practically every other page for the first 20% of the book. We get the meet cute after a breakup, the viral video starring the lead lady (let me come back to that one...), a single Dad technophobe, with a small town, workplace, age-gap romance... I'm tired already just talking about it.
Had any one, possibly even two, of these tropes been present, I could have pushed through and maybe would have even enjoyed the story. But it was a mish-mash of just about every romance trope I've ever read and as a result just felt like it was trying way too hard. I had to reread pages to see if they actually made sense, and I was having a hard time suspending belief enough to actually go with the fact that it seemed this book had it ALL (and not in a positive way).
I've hidden this next paragraph on the viral video because if you're very sensitive to spoilers you may be upset if you read it, but I wouldn't personally classify anything as a spoiler. 🤷🏻♀️
...I just decided enough was enough (or way too much) and had to throw in the towel.
On a positive note, if none of this bothers you, you'll probably enjoy the book. There's nothing functionally wrong with it, the writing does not have major issues, such as grammatical or spelling, and it does seem easy enough to read if you can get past the things I mentioned. So I'm very sure there is an audience for this book, I'm just equally sure it's not me.

This is a fun book that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. It opens with Nell melting down about breaking up with her boyfriend on Valentine's Day. Sadly, it is far too realistic that almost everyone chose to watch or record the show she put on rather than offer a moment of kindness. Before she knows it, Nell has gone viral and become an internet sensation. Her mortification is complete when she enters her office a week later to see that the one man who offered her kindness is her new boss (Quinn) - and pretending he's never seen her before.
If you enjoy the genre, you'll want to put this one at the top of your TBR list. The characters were fun and engaging. Nell is a hoot and someone I'd want to know IRL. Quinn is sexy, but very rigid - so he doesn't know what to do with Nell, who is constant motion, antics, and humor. Add in the rest of the kooky characters, lots of crazy situations, and this book is a winner.
I love how the author has taken the "going viral" concept and turned it into an entertaining series. She is on my must read authors' list.

This was a good read. Not great, but good. The plot was fun and entertaining and I really enjoyed the first 1/2. The second 1/2 was problematic though. I really liked Nell’s quirky, optimistic & bold personality. She was a fun, loveable character.

Like a Boss was my first book by Anne Harper and I was quite charmed by the small town of Arbor Bay and it's quirky characters. We start out the book by Nell being dumped on Valentine's Day (of all days) and she is giving up on men. But what happens when she causes a scene in a restaurant and the quiet man in the corner offers up a seat for her? That quiet, more subdued man is Quinn and Quinn is new in town. And unbeknownst to them both, he is Nell's future boss.
That meet cute really set up the book for what was to come with the characters. I was excited to see where it was going to go. Especially if we were going to get an office romance, which happens to be one of my favorite tropes! Once Quinn walks into Hand in Heart and notices all the employees, he is surprised by the loud and outrageous Nell that also happens to work there. And if you know Quinn, he is NOT going to pursue anything more with Nell than what they had for a few hours at dinner. They are now co-workers. What follows is quite a few outlandish things that happen in small towns. From everyone up in your business, to wrangling a cute little pig, to keeping the town grump company during the college football games. But these thing are all done with Quinn and Nell together. They are co-workers, friends and maybe more??
When I read an office romance, I like to combine that with some tension, some enemies to lovers and maybe some healthy competition. This was not that. This was a small town, office romance that was friends to lovers. Nothing wrong with that, but it was just missing that pull, that tension I desire in couples when reading about an office romance. If that's your thing you will enjoy Nell and Quinn's story. I felt the friendship and I felt them debating taking that friendship further, but I don't know. There was just something missing. The story flowed well and from beginning to end, it worked, but it just wasn't 100% for me. I enjoyed the opposites attract and the way Nell was comfortable in her own skin, but a little hate love would've kicked it up a notch and had me going more gaga over it. Overall, it was sweet and fun and filled with some good and laugh out loud moments. Just was hoping for a bit more.

Suddenly everyone in her small town is either talking about her or trying to date her. After her speech, she shares dinner with Quinn, a stranger she meets in the restaurant. They also share a kiss. Normally this would be the start of an easy open and shut HEA. Only problem is Quinn is her new boss.
All of this is the perfect set up for a cute and cozy workplace romance. Only problem is I could not to save my life get into this story! I tried. I put it down awhile and tried again. Maybe its me, I'm not sure. I hate leaving anything but good reviews but in this instance I just couldn't get into it. The drama that unfolds is so over the top sometimes that I just couldn't understand why it was happening. Family members of Nell seemed very one dimensional and also acted in ways that most normal people just wouldn't. I almost got the feeling that the author was trying so hard to make this a romantic comedy of sorts and the scenes were created with humor in mind. However, they are so over the top it falls flat. Again, please understand this could just be a one off for me. I'm a devoted women's fiction and romance reader so this is normally right up my alley. I just couldn't connect with this one.

They share a date and an unexpected kiss afterwards. Still sad about parting ways, they cross paths again the next day only for Nell to find out that her new boss is none other than Quinn.
The romance in this book was super cute! I loved the friends to lovers, opposites attract, office romance between them! Given that Nell is a loud, ball of sunshine heroine and Quinn is a grumpy, serious hero who takes his work ethics very seriously. Though I was surprised to see that he was a single dad since I was an absolute sucker for those! The build up was angsty and investing but did little pay off with the minimal steam (they got interrupted once and never went back to finish the job later on 🥲). Towards the end, the conflict felt flat and the grand gesture scene was underwhelming.
I flew through this mostly because the writing was easy to get into but also not as captivating. There wasn’t anything super special about the story for me but I still quite enjoyed it! The characters were fun at a certain extent but it did feel dragging at times.
I also really love how the “going viral” concept was used in this book and series because it added that uniqueness anf fun to it!
Overall, this was a fun, swoony and entertaining! And I recommend if you’re just looking for a quick read!

Like a Boss was very entertaining at times and not as much at others. Harper never won me over completely with what had the potential to be a humorous and touching love story.
The meet-cute is very fun. Nell's rant at the restaurant owner and meeting of Quinn was a great start to the book. When Nell finds out later that the man she met at one of her worst hours is her new boss the story again has great potential. Through in a cast of eccentric small town Southerners and the story is sure to be funny.
I really can't even put my hands on why the story didn't live up to it's potential. The sexy scenes weren't quite sweet enough the funny scenes were a little flat. Like the sex toy retrieval. It should have been hilarious but came off as only slightly amusing.
All that said, there were times I really enjoyed the story and I found Nell and Quinn likeable.

I didn't read book 1 in the series and it didn't affect the reading of this one.
The story centers around Nell, who goes viral when someone records her ranting on Valentine's Day at her restaurant and posts it online. On that day, in the restaurant, she meets Quinn and they share a kiss, but they don't even exchange information.
A couple of weeks later, they find out Quinn is Nell's new boss. Although they fight their attraction, the more time they spend together, the closer they get.
I liked how Quinn is such a good father.
Small town life and nosy neighbors interfere at every point, as do Quinn and Nell's past, professional lives, and family situation, but, in the end, they find a way to be together.

Just Like A Boss by Anne Harper is one of those reads where you instantly feel sorry for the heroine, for Antonella has found herself in a bit of a situation, and of all the days, it had to be Valentine’s Day!
So what better way to let off some of that angry energy but to storm into a local diner, play hell and meet a patient and handsome hero. But as Antonella knows, nothing in life is simple, and she passes off the encounter as a brief fleeting moment which she remembers fondly, and kicks herself for not getting his number. But little does Antonella know, her stranger feels exactly the same, and somehow won’t remain a stranger much longer!
I loved the premise of this book, it was funny, down-to-Earth and had a real human touch to it. I did however find half way through the plot starting to change alongside my interest. This book is a really good read for those who love office style romances, and those who love lighthearted comedy, and ‘what happens next?’ Reads.

I loved this book. It was such a quick, easy, laugh out loud read that I couldn't (and didn't want to) put down.
Nell has sworn off men, after her boyfriend Greg dumps her. When Quinn saves her by inviting her to sit with him on valentines day, Nell couldn't deny their chemistry. They immediately hit it off, however, when he doesn't ask for her phone number and basically walks out of her life, Nell thinks she'll never see him again. Well hello universe, it looks like you had other plans, became bam. Quinn is now her new boss. Oops.
This book is hilarious. Nell is funny, bubbly and has a massive family. Quinn is the complete opposite, he is recently divorced with a son and wants to be alone. These two shouldn't work but they do. Their adventures were hilarious and I loved the small-town feel of this book.
The only reason this book didn't get 5 stars was that there are a lot of characters. Some relevant and some not so much. Everything else was perfect, the pace is good, there is enough drama to keep anyone entertained, the characters were lovable and funny. I loved it.
