Only rating the Red Hood story not the whole anthology :)

Red Hood & Batman in "Cheer" Part 2 (of 6):

"This is a mistake. But I can't help myself. He gets under my skin. His sanctimony. He acts like he's god. All knowing, all seeing. When really...

...He's just another failed parent.

Oracle in "Ghost In The Machine":
 3/5 stars

It seems like DC wants to have their cake and eat it too; they want Barbara Gordon to be available as Batgirl but also want her to hold the Oracle mantle, and quite frankly one cannot exists at the same time as the other. It comes off as mocking the fans and the character. What makes Oracle so special is not that she's tech-savvy, and what makes Batgirl special is not the fact that she can walk around. I don't know if DC misunderstands completely both roles or they just don't care.

This issue also features Cass and Steph, both in their Batgirl costumes!! There's no reason to have that mantle free for Babs, let others have that role! The constant need to make Barbara Batgirl is very insulting considering Dick Grayson is never brought back to the mantle of Robin (unless it's a flashback).

Ignoring the Babsgirl issues... having an able-bodied Oracle just doesn't seem right. What is DC trying to tell their fans with disabilities??? "you can only be a hero if you have functioning legs"?? fuck off

Bonus: StephBatgirl cameo!!!

I'm still really enjoying this anthology series! I'm happy that for the most part the stories are ongoing and continuing throughout the issues. It is nice to look forward to the next part of the story for each issue while also getting a new standalone story each time, I'm not sure if they will keep this format going forward but I think it is working so far. Although, some of these stories aren't getting the page time they deserve. The Red Hood story felt so short in this one while the Oracle story was quite long (compared to the others).

Red Hood: 4/5
My only complaint is that I really wish this was longer!! I'm really enjoying this story and Jason's characterization in it. I am really interested to see where this story with the little kid will go. I kind of hope it is something that sticks (but I know it won't).

Oracle: 3/5
The art was really nice and the story was decent. I didn't love this but I don't have anything BAD to say about it. I love that Barbara is back to being Oracle and I've loved the exploration of it in these recent batfamily books.

Outsiders: 3.5/5
Still not loving this but not disliking it either. I think this story would really work better if it was given more page time to elaborate on the plot. I also wish we had some back story to how they got into this situation but I really like all these characters so I'm still interested in seeing what will happen next.

Grifter: 4/5
I cannot believe how much I'm loving a Grifter story...if DC can keep putting out good Grifter books like this I might actually have to start saying I'm a Grifter fan. This makes me want to go back and read other books featuring him now. Best moment of this one was the end with Jason waking up to finding the sticky note from Grifter signed off as Superman. I love the humor in this story, I think it works really well and is balanced great with the action and story.

The Red Hood and Grifter have done it again, solid 4.5 stars for Red Hood and 4 stars for Grifter. I found this continuation to The Outsiders much more compelling, bringing it up to 3 stars, and I unfortunately found The Batgirl story a little bit lackluster. Not terrible, but not much of anything either, so 2 stars.

You know what’s tiring to read about in a viral pandemic with more than a year of using masks every single day? Viruses and masks.

Cheer (2 of 6): Amazing art, action, and atmosphere. This is so good that I'm actually mad Urban Legend isn't following the Legends of the Dark Knight formula and covering one story arc at a time. Honestly, this whole book should have just been Cheer.

Ghost in the Machine: Saving the day purely from Oracle's perspective is a great premise, but the execution is so sloppy and lifeless that it's hard to care.

The Caretaker (2 of 3): This should have been Part 1.

The Long Con (2 of 5): A bit too much time in the hospital, but solid otherwise.

---

Cheer is the clear winner here. I'm excited for The Caretaker to be over. I really hope whatever arc replaces it is more interesting and actually uses its time wisely.

Four stars for the Zdarsky Batman & Red Hood story. Three for Oracle, I really liked the art but the plot was meh. No opinion on the Outsiders, I don’t know who these people are, what they’re doing and why I should care. Actively disliked the Grifter story, it felt like a 90s reject. I wish I could just buy the stuff I want and not spend money on the others.

Red Hood: 4.5⭐ - oh no I'm feeling emotions™
Batgirl: 1.5⭐ - Man... really wanted to like this but the villain was generic and the plot unmemorable
Outsiders: 3 ⭐- !! Much better than the previous issue, I'm in
Grifter: 4⭐- Obsessed with the way that Cole is somehow a trash-man-disaster at all times

Jason Todd's torment is really compelling.

The art in the Oracle story is really fun! I'm not enamored with the story, but there's nothing wrong with it and my friend Nightwing showed up!

Outsiders doesn't do anything for me; I feel like I don't know important things I would need to know to care more.

I think I dislike Grifter.

Menudo salvavidas es la historia de Chip con Red Hood para esta antología (y en este nº por partida doble, que aparece en la serie de Grifter).

Still really damn good. Just the fact Jason is battling his own thoughts here, and if he went too far, and also dealing with his own childhood. Love all of that.
