took me like 2 months which is mortally embarrassing...

love that this is like 1/3 eng biographies abt him! it was very concise and stuff but i wish he stayed away from the psychoanalysis sometimes... included a lot of good sources. (idk french so someone will have to tell me if the translations are bad.)

got jump scared when he switched to first person at the end.

It was full of joy of reading it. I believe that Curtis LOVE Saint-Just. He gave many details of his life and career. You can really feel that Saint-Just was a vivid person in this biography, instead of a cold name in the general history books. The only drawback is that some French-English translation is not 100% accurate. it’s like, the meanings are usually correct, but the emotions behind the words are sometimes subtly shifted (well, I know I’m too picky). Anyway, it didn’t prevent this book from getting a 5-star. If you only know English, and if you are interested in Saint-Just, and if I can only recommend one biography of him, I would definitely recommend this one.
