Pretties in Pink

Rate this book
Five years ago, Mila Carmody disappeared from her bed, and that was only the beginning. Now eight-year-old Vonnie Feinstein is missing as well. Two little girls, swallowed by darkness, never to be seen again.

For Micah Ganaway, it might be the end. Arrested for child abduction, he’s already been tried in the court of public opinion and found guilty. The lead detective assures him the trial is just a formality. But private investigator Hallie Chastain isn’t so certain. On paper, Ganaway makes a reasonable suspect, but in person, things don’t quite add up.

Detective Ford Prestia doesn’t share his partner’s convictions either, but he’s the new cop in town. Can’t afford to rock the boat. Then he meets Hallie, and when she rocks not only the boat but his whole world, he finds his career isn’t the only thing in jeopardy…

Elise Noble

Elise Noble is an English rose with a few thorns who loves chocolate, sleep, and well-defined abs. Not hers, unfortunately. She lives near London with a horse who eats all her money and three dogs who eat everything else.

Elise writes real, gutsy heroines and flawed but swoon-worthy heroes in stories that mix mystery and mayhem, humour and happily-ever-afters.

After several great books in other story lines, we are back to the original Blackwood Security story. Many of our favorite characters make an appearance, though the main characters Ford and Hallie are developed for the first time. This book has the familiar Elise Noble flair – interesting “who dunnit” crime solving interwoven with a nice romance. As usual, people get what is coming to them, whether good or bad – one of my favorite parts of Elise’s books. There are some uniquely cute and funny scenes, including a parrot as foul-mouthed as Emmy, and seeing from Ford’s perspective how the Blackwood clan looks to an outsider. As always, Elise has also masterfully introduced new characters we are sure to see again, as well as continued to add spicy little details that keep adding on to what we know about characters from previous books, who may soon have their own stories. Cannot wait!

Elise Noble has surpassed herself if that is possible. Though lots of Blackwood characters from previous books appear, including the heroine, this can be read as a standalone. Fans have waited for Hallie's story for a while, but we couldn't have imagined the horror, intrigue, suspense and romance packed into this. Add a foul-mouthed parrot for plenty of laughs. Brilliant book. Once I finished, I just had to read it again. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.

Love Elise’s latest as usual! The parrot though… can it goes for a vacation with Ana and her family instead? Perhaps it can catch more swear words. LOL.

WOW! Redundant, I know, but there's nothing else.

I cannot believe your incredible brain, Ms. Noble, you completely blew me away with Pretties In Pink!
I began, remembering Hallie and the girls rescues, remembering Dan taking Hallie under her to mentor, and Hallie being good, and looking even better, as she became safer feeling ,as an outstanding investigator.
Hallie's time has come, with some direction, guidence, and some help, Hallie takes off investigating a kidnapping, for the accused.
From there she meets Detective Festia, and the young woman who has been through so much, shows the Detective how strong she really is, and who she really is...
I loved the beginning all the way to the end, but, Ms Noble, you certainly drew me in and then, you blew me away with the storyline. The intensity is typical Blackwood plus, Hallie is investigating something far more than Blackwood has experienced. And this investigation, it's pretty much in their own backyard.
However, while Hallie and Det Festia become closer, the investigation becomes so much more!

Incredibly moving, descriptive beyond belief, heart wrenching, and far more ...
Truly, so much more in this novel then it seems!
One, you do not want to miss! (Frankly, if Emmy and crew are new, back up, catch up, the novels in this series are beyond words!)

Loved, Elise Noble, you outdid yourself!

Excellent romantic thriller

No plot spoilers
There are a couple of potential triggers relating to kidnap, attempted rape and child sexual abuse.
That potential trigger warning should have been clearly provided in the blurb.
I am getting really annoyed by the sheer volume of authors who don't provide a potential trigger warning before readers purchase their books.
By the time the reader gets to the end of a book it's too late to request a refund, and most people wouldn't make a fuss about it, so in a way readers are being manipulated and that's a pretty low marketing technique.
Anyway, onto the review.
The characterisation is absolutely spot on, I loved Ford, and have wanted Hallie to get her own story since Cora's book.
The plotline is engaging, the usual fast pace and cracking dialogue creating a page turner.
There are a couple of light sex scenes and plenty of swearing (adored the parrot!)
I expect Pinchy's story to unfold at some point!
Can't wait for James' story either.
I have no problem recommending the series but would advise reading from the beginning to obtain the best reading experience and get to know the characters properly.
There is romance, fun, lighthearted teasing as well as care for each other in a series that often plunges into the dark side of humanity.
The Blackwood family ensure successive books are an automatic purchase for me.

Series often become trite after the first few episodes; this is definitely not the case with the Blackwood books. Every book is surprisingly fresh, full of new characters, new ideas, new adventures. The plots are rich, with many side narratives intertwined one with the other; each book is also a true stand-alone novel. Pretties in Pink is no exception. It is a riveting, captivating story celebrating the best of the wit, the skills, and the generosity of the Blackwood team while introducing new intriguing characters with an eye on the grave matter of abuse. Once started, it is very hard not to be captured by this book. The storyline is a rollercoaster of emotions, changing from sympathy to disdain every few pages. The scenes have a fast and steady pace, and the plot is full of twits. I stayed late at night finishing the book because I enjoyed it so much I didn't want it to end.

Elise Noble - Pretties in Pink (Blackwood Security # 15)

As always, it is great to spend some time with the Blackwood Security family. I am a huge fan of Elise Noble's story telling ability and the way the storyline in her books usually have a twist somewhere. This book has the usual cast of characters you expect in the Blackwood Security world and introduces some new characters. It is the story of Hallie and Ford's journey to their Happy Ever After, set against a background of trying to solve a serious crime. As with all of the Blackwood Security books there is a great plot, romance, suspense, action, interesting characters and snarky dialogue. Pretties in Pink is a stand alone book. 5 stars.

If you are new to the series; start with The Black Trilogy (Book 1 to 3 Blackwood Security) and Black 3.1 (the bonus story at the end of book 3) available in a box set.

This is Hallie’s story - we first met her in Quicksilver as one of the girls being held captured by a sex-trafficking ring.

As always, Elise has created a fantastic story with amazing characters. As a reader you feel the up’s and down’s as they happen to the characters and the twists and turns of the story keeps you turning the pages.

I love that we get to know Hallie and her struggles without her character becoming “whiny” - Elise manages that perfect balance of softness and strength that creates a great character.

Loved the story, the characters and the plot twists! A definite recommended read!
It can be read as a stand alone, but If you want the full picture of Hallie and her past, I recommend diving into Quicksilver first.

This is just a tip - I reread Quicksilver Book 11 before the release of this new story and I am glad I did. Most of the characters involved were in the other book. This story was amazing and so close to home for Hallie. Teamed up with local police detective Ford Priesta they begin to slowly solve the puzzle of missing girls and secure the release of a wrongly accused suspect. The story is full of twists and turns to catch the reader out and as well as drawing you right into the story. Now finished I am feeling lost as though I have lost something important. Cannot wait for the next chapter in this series. Once again Elise has excelled herself

Pretties in Pink is the latest Blackwood Security book and it is a very good read. You do not need to read the previous books to enjoy this book but background on recurring characters is useful.

In this book we catch up with Hallie who we really got to know in ‘Quicksilver’. Private detective Hallie teams up with Detective Ford to solve a missing child case. Of course there is help from some of the Blackwood Security regulars.

Once again Elise Noble has delivered an incredible book that I just could not put down. It made me laugh out loud and it made my heart ache. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it. Worth 5* and more.

Just Brilliant

This is such an amazing series. I have read many series’s of books. NEVER this many and yet each book has a journey. No shortcuts no running out of steam and a buried end. Never did I think I would get hooked on a 16 book series. I can honestly say the writer is an absolute genius and I’m gutted that I only have one book left. The knowledge and thought that has gone into each book is truly remarkable and I have not regretted buying any of books.
Warning once you start you wont be able to stop and it’s a journey worth going on. I hope Netflix picks it up. Superior to anything on the tv

What a ride

I have totally fallen in love with this series. Emmy and her crazy collaboration of misfits that just fit.
Not a series you can jump into from the middle, gotta start at the beginning, or be lost.

Love to see how Hallie has progressed into a strong woman after all she's been through. Ford is her perfect fit. Love to see this story move forward into something bigger.

What a ride!

This book caught me off guard a few times with the twists it took. This has all the intensity that I have grown to look forward to in the Blackwood series and most of Elise's other books. The romance was wonderfully done. Hallie and Ford had an instant connection. He was perfectly patient as she fought to overcome her past. All around I highly recommend this book.

I’m in love with the whole Blackwood team!

Another great book, I love learning more about each of the characters and getting to know the whole Blackwood family. The twists and turns of Pretties in Pink were enjoyable and came to a (mostly) happy conclusion. There are still some endings left to read about, and I can’t wait until they’re available for consumption!!

Gripping

Another great novel by my favourite author Elise Noble - she always has me guessing who the bad guy is. Plus the usual shenanigans from Emmy and the gang - including Bradley!

Elsie Noble never disappoints. A thrilling ride to the very end. You will laugh, cry and never guess the WHO Dunnit or what the situation actually is. My only complaint is that Noble can’t write fast enough.

Thank you

I read this book in record time and gave it 5 stars then went to sleep in the early hours of the morning as I simply had to finish reading the book, as I couldn't put it down.

At around 4am, I had the full intention of writing this review later that day (3 March 22) after I had some sleep!

Big oops..... I forgot to write the review - my humble apologies to Elise Noble the fabulous author.

As with all Ms Noble's books, this was almost impossible to put down until I'd finished reading it. She has a unique writing Style that has you completely immersed in the books so that you feel as though you know the characters personally. The characters come to life on the page.

There is always a mixture of elements including drama, mystery, action, thrills, romance, humour and sheer craziness that blend together so well.

I won't give a synopsis of the story or give anything away - that's what the book blurb is for. What I can say is that it is highly recommended reading as are all the books by this author.

Thank you so much to Elise Noble for the opportunity to review.

I received an advanced review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. The opinions are my own.

Just when you think Elise Nobles books can't get any better them she release this book!
We're back in the Blackwood security world and like previous books this has excitement, humor, romance, and a sprinkle of spiciness. The difference is the main character's (hallie) backstory.
You can't help but love all the characters in this story but the standout winner for me was definitely pinchy. He loves snacks and cursing everyone out. Oh and he's a bird. Lol
I read this whole book in less than 24 hours. Or because a quick read, but because, in true Elise Noble form, I couldn't put it down.
The story relates back to quicksilver. So it might be helpful to read that one 1st. However, I didn't and I still completely understood the story. So definitely not required.
I highly recommend this book. 6/5!
Enjoy!

*I was given an ARC, from the author, for my HONEST opinion on the book. These are completely my views.*

Pretties in Pink exceeds all expectations! Elise Noble has once again proven her ability to take the reader on an adventurous and exciting journey that will leave a lasting impression. Using her special brand of humor, intrigue and romance, the story unfolds.

Blackwood Security is a unique employment opportunity. Employees have
not only found employment but also they have found a family, a home, a haven, and direction which is how Hallie Chastain has come to work there.

Blackwood Securities is asked to prove that the man arrested for a kidnapping is innocent. PI Hallie Chastain is seeking to find proof of his innocence but finds she is also working through her painful past. Hallie and Detective Ford Prestia, a new detective on the force, team up in their search for the the abducted little girl.
