Nova Nelson grew up on a steady diet of Agatha Christie novels. She loves the mind candy of cozy mysteries and has been weaving paranormal tales since she first learned handwriting. Those two loves meet in her Eastwind Witches series, and it's about time, if she does say so herself.
When she's not busy writing, she enjoys long walks with her strong-willed dogs and eating breakfast for dinner.

A spin-off from the Eastwind Witches series with Nora
1 This book takes places in the same world as the Eastwind Witches series where Nora is the main character, but we go back 30 years or so. Ruby True and Sheriff Bloom are the two main characters: dual POV. Ruby is 46! If you’re already familiar with Eastwind, then you already know some of the characters, like Ruby and her familiar hellhound Clifford, Sheriff Bloom, Ezra, Ted, Kayleigh. But if you’re new to Eastwind: don’t worry, everything is explained well and this is a good starting point.
I was so excited about getting to know Ruby and Clifford and Sheriff Bloom a bit better! Unlike Nora, Ruby is a skilled witch. That made for a nice change! And Sheriff Bloom is a force to be reckoned with. Although she’s also really kind to those who deserve it. I really like her. It was nice to see things from her perspective. And when the two team up: criminals beware!
When a werebear is reported missing, True & Bloom start investigating. A bit half-heartedly at first, but when things become more dangerous, the need to find the truth becomes more urgent. But what they’ve got to go on, is vague at best!
I loved the ending! It was a well-written book, with a mystery-with-a-twist.
2 Outstanding!
Book 2 in the new spin-off series from the Eastwind Witches: True & Bloom.
It’s got a humorous tone, with light-hearted banter between Ruby and Bloom. Dual POV, which I loved. While I was reading, I had that excited feeling you get when you’re reading a really good book. Full of humor. It was a real page-turner! So well-written, so more-ish! Ah-ma-zing! And we get to meet Stu as a boy! Cool. When I was at the end of the book, I caught myself smiling.
Favorite quote, about Ruby: “She nodded as pleasantly as she could muster within the bounds of her mood.”
3 What a great book!
What makes this book stand out is the humor. The snarky kind. Ruby and Bloom together are such a dynamic duo, and I love them! And the vampire: I always thought Count Malavic was an interesting character, and it’s nice to get to know more about him. Such a wonderful book, if you’ve not started this series yet, you’re seriously missing out!
I enjoyed the three books that I have of the series. Not really sure poor Ruby has made every decision carefully or looking forward to later years. I do hope she can learn to be a bit less ridged, and more forgiving of the mortals in her world. Nobody is perfectly correct all the time.
Gabby and Ruby make a terrific team as detectives. The characters in this series are fun and have more substance than the typical cozy mystery. But the books desperately need to be edited fr typos and grammatical errors. They detract from the story.
Creative and Unique. Really enjoyable. Seems like there is a discernible uptick in poor proofreading. I've noticed in several ebooks I've gotten lately . Annoying. A spell checker would solve most of these problems.
Witches and an Angel and a Vampire combine to Solve Mysteries
I enjoyed the various characters in these books. Ruby True is a real character, a witch and a sleuth. The Sheriff is an angel who is a good friend to Ruby. All these books are fun to read.
Read thee first three books and enjoyed them very much. Read the series of Eastwind witches and learn about this set called Ruby True Mysteries. Definitely recommend both series to everyone.
Very well written and although I guessed the 1st stories ending early on the other 2 kept me guessing longer to the point I couldn't put the book down.
