When Jim and Laura Pepperman find a musty German Olympic jacket
and an old journal in their attic, they stumble onto a gripping

Pro-Germany but anti-Nazi, he reluctantly agrees to help flush out the spy leaking secret information on the BF109 engine to foreign agencies . . . and finds himself a suspect of espionage and murder. Unsure who to trust, he must unravel the tangle of lies he’s caught in before he falls prey to the Nazi agenda slowly and stealthily taking over the country he loves.

Germany just before the Second World War
WOW - Jim and his wife discover a trunk in the attic. And a diary. And what a story is in the diary. His second cousin wrote it and he learnt a LOT about his family. Totally an amazing story. Could not put the book down!!! I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All thoughts and comments are my own.

I never usually judge a book by it's cover but with this one I just knew it was going to be a cracker.
With the setting being 1930s Germany this novel was always going to be one I would love.
It did not disappoint either. A page turner from the very start and was completed in a couple of sittings.

Hans Pepperman is your average Joe who is suddenly thrust into the middle of a Nazi spy ring on the eve of the Second World War. Interesting characters that will keep you guessing until the very end, this book is full of twists and turns and one man's struggle to do what he believes is best for his country. This book will leave you wanting more Pepperman.

I really enjoyed the story Bill Briscoe crafted bringing in WWII history in a creative and suspenseful way. Very uniquely told with a crafted detail and character development that had me reading/listening to this in nearly in one sitting.

I loved the way the modern characters carried the story forward bringing full circle the surprising items found in their attic through to the unexpected twist at the end. I did not see that surprise coming!

Clever, smart, and it left me thinking about it weeks later, which is hard to do. I’ve already read two books since and I’m still absorbed in the world Bill created in Perfect Payback. Well done!

I never had a high regard for the Nazi's. I have that at least in common with Hans Pepperman, which just about is the only thing I have in common with him.
Now, When his nephew, Jim (and Laura) discovered his diary in the attic of their house, their eyes were opened to a world Hans experienced and got treated to in real life in Nazi Germany.
And what a fascinating world that turned out to be what with so much revolving around espionage. And Hans right in the middle of everything.
It certainly made for excellent reading, ensuring I got to finish reading Perfect Payback in one sitting.
Enjoy.

This is my favorite style of book and it blew me away! The story is so well researched and references various real life events from 1930’s Germany. This story takes you through twists and turns and is action packed but also has moments of comic relief. I would highly recommend!

This is quite a departure from the other books in this series. I really enjoyed each one but this book I couldn’t put down. When I was forced to, being a responsible adult, I was thinking about it and waiting to pick it up again.

Great plotline that follows a WWII journal. What would we find if we delved deeply into our family history?
