Wishful Thinking

Rate this book
Wishes in branches tied with string. Someone's hopes. Another's dreams.

Janie Stallard is carving out a new life for herself as the newest business owner in Linden Falls, overseeing a small shop called Wishful Thinking. In her spare time, she helps her aunt Neva run the Wishing Tree Inn. Things are moving along and as soon as Janie’s divorce is finalized, she will finally be free to fully embrace all the changes. But is that what her heart truly desires?

Coco Baines is a guest in the Wishing Tree Inn and has only one priority for her stay; she plans to be in town (and in the gym) long enough to return to her job looking like the svelte anchorwoman her boss expects her to be, no matter how unfair she believes the outdated stereotype to be. She has to have that promotion!

When a rampant rumor in town becomes truth that a new business owner has bought the land the Wishing tree sits on and plans to take it down, the whole town is in an uproar. Even with Janie and Coco both working hard to divert the crisis, it will take more than a few wishes to save it. A miracle is what they need.

Join Kay Bratt as she brings the latest book in the Wishing Tree series alive, featuring Janie Stallard, the new owner of the Wishful Thinking shop, and Coco Baines, a woman in crisis. You’ll also see many of the characters from other Wishing Tree books make an appearance in this one!

With the theme of self-acceptance and forming relationships that support you, this is a sweet story with a few twists and a lot of heart. Coco Baines is a reporter who has been told that she has to get into better physical shape in order to land the anchor job that she wants, so she goes on the radar to the small town of Linden Falls to reinvent herself. The characters are all so realistic and easy to get to know, especially Coco and Janie. Janie is in the middle of a divorce and is establishing herself in the town as the one to go to when you need an old-fashioned home remedy. Her plan for a no-drama divorce fall by the wayside when Max shows up in town, ostensibly to see their daughters. Filled with wit and common sense, this book was a joy to read. It was also a quick read that I was able to finish in less than two days and it kept me totally engaged in the story of how Coco and Janie would carve out their futures. I loved getting to know the people in the town and although this is the ninth book in the series, it is the first one I have read and I had no problems reading and understanding the plot and getting acquainted with the people in the town. I do plan to read the other books because this was a fantastic intro for me to a charming series.

In the event that you are looking for a heartwarming, uplifting and simply lovely book, I highly recommend Wishful Thinking, by Kay Bratt, the ninth book in the Wishing Tree series. It takes place in the community of Linden Falls, and focuses on a group of the residents' efforts to save a tree that has enriched the town's quality of life, and has been a place where many have hung their very special wishes. The characters, for the most part, are kind and caring people, proud of their town. Of course, like any town there are also a few not so nice residents. The book is a short, fast-paced story that touched my heart, it just might yours too. A FIVE star read.

This is the nineth book in the Wishing Tree series, each one penned by a different author. Each one centred around the town of Linden Falls in the USA, which has at its heart a magical wishing tree.

In this book we again meet the magical Neva, and her niece Janie and her two daughters, but we also meet a  new character Coco Baines a journalist who arrives at Linden Falls to try and lose weight to be the TV Anchor she has always dreamed of becoming.

When a company buys the Inn, and tries to take down the Wishing Tree because it's roots are damaging the Inn, the town comes together to try and stop them.

I really enjoyed the book and revisiting all my 'friends' in the town, however the copy I read had a few errors which need fixing to make it perfect.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first set of The Wishing Tree Books and am thrilled that the second wave of instalments is coming through now!
It was lovely to go back to Linden Falls, visit familiar faces like Neve, follow what happened with her new housemate, Janie and her daughters, and meet newcomer Coco, the News Anchor wannabee.
The Wishing Tree plays a huge part, as always, in this book, as the community fights to save its existence when an outsider buys a property which includes the tree in its land, and they want to tear it down!
Each book centres around one or two specific characters in the area, and in this, we find out how Janie is settling into Linden Falls after separating from her husband, Max. She has set up a new business which she is very proud of, and though it isn't anywhere as lucrative as her previous career, it fills her with passion.
Coco is the newcomer this time. She's moved to Linden Falls for a couple of months to reset herself, and lose weight, to get the job she always wanted, but ends up in the thick of the local Wishing Tree trauma, when she helps the local journalist, who is incapacitated, to raise awareness of the potential loss of a tree which is dear to so many.
We have family ups and downs, slow-burn romance, and cats and dogs. What more could you ask for?
Thanks to Kay Bratt for an ARC.

Oh how nice it was to be able to visit the little town of Linden Falls and many of it’s inhabitants! For that alone I would give this book five stars. There are other reasons that it has earned my top rating. Wishful Thinking by Kay Bratt was a book I’ve been looking forward to for a while. I really missed The Wishing Tree Series.

This book is mainly about Janie Stallard and her new shop Wishful Thinking. In Kay’s last book Wish You Were Here, we learned that Neva is Janie’s Aunt. Janie is going through a divorce and she and her two daughters are helping Neva with the Inn. There is a lot of Wishful Thinking going on in this book. You’ll have to read the book to see if you can identify all of the instances.

We are also introduced to a new character named Coco. She is a news journalist and has worked her way up in the business earning a degree and giving up her social life for her dream job. She is in crisis right now and has come to Linden Falls to get control of her life. You know the the town and the Wishing Tree does work miracles. Do they this time?

Speaking of the Wishing Tree, it is having its own crisis. There are new owners of a building and the property the tree sits on and they plan to take the tree down! How can that happen? The town rallies up support but is having a hard time coming up with the money to save the property and the tree. You’ll want to know how this turns out. Can the series go on without the Wishing Tree?

Janie’s husband comes to town which is a surprise for Janie. He seems to be a real thorn in her side. Their daughters have formed and alliance with him. What kind of troubles is he bringing into her life. Will life be the same for Janie when he gets done with his plan?

I have posed a lot of questions. My whole objective is to revive your interest in the continuation of the wonderful heartfelt series. I love the town and the inhabitants so much and I will be sad when I see the end. There are more to come! Books eight and fourteen are new authors to the series who wanted to be involved. I can’t wait to read their stories!

If you have read any of this series, you just have to continue. If you haven’t read any of it, I encourage you to download the first book for free and then hurry up and get caught up. I love this series and I know you will too. It has all the feels.

Don’t forget to support the authors you read by leaving a review!

Wistful Thinking by Kay Bratt is the ninth book in the Wishing Tree series. In this story, Janie Stallard has a new life as the newest business owner in Linden Falls as she has opened Wishful Thinking shop. She also helps Neva run the Wishing Tree Inn. She’s looking forward to the future as her divorce moves closer to becoming finalized. Coco Baines is a guest at the inn with the goal to become the graceful and fit anchorwoman her boss expects her to be. No matter how unfair she thinks the stereotype is outdated, she has to have that promotion! When a rumor about the Wishing Tree becomes an undeniable truth, the whole town is in an uproar and has banded together to protect their precious tree. Even with Janie and Coco working hard to divert the crisis, it will take more than just wishful thinking to save their tree. It will take a miracle.
Wishful Thinking is a story of self-acceptance and finding your heart’s desires in the most unlikely places. I saw myself in Coco as she was fueled by an image that she thinks she needs to be in order to be the success she wants to be. She doesn’t see that she is beautiful just as she is. It takes a friendship with the local reporter and the story of the Wishing Tree to see that. Janie is a single mother who is trying to move forward until her estranged husband shows up in town. What is his motive? Can she trust him again? Can she trust herself to truly see her heart’s desires? My heart broke at the thought of the beloved Wishing Tree would be no more, even though I knew a solution would be found, I was surprised and enjoyed how the tree was saved. I highly recommend Wishful Thinking as well as the rest of the Wishing Tree series.

Wishful Thinking is available in paperback and eBook.

Wishful Thinking is book 9 in the Wishing Tree series. It's my favorite book in the series, written by one of my most read authors. This book shows the life struggles of family, spouses, body image, self confidence, and new friends who become trusted in a person's inner circle. Not only do we see the struggles, we also see the steps towards resolution and the joy of allowing oneself to walk out of fear and into hope. This beautifully written story is filled with promise and was a delight to read. I recommend this book and this entire series. I have no idea how these individual authors, in different parts of the country and in different countries, are able to write with such cohesion about this very special little town of Linden Falls, Vermont and its incredible Wishing Tree, but they are doing this brilliantly! Each book introduces new stories and characters, yet keeps some core characters within the new book. Highly recommend this series, Wishful Thinking and anything written by Kay Bratt!

This is book 9 of this wonderful series. Each book is just as wonderful as the previous, each one written by a different author. It amazes me how all the authors can make each book blend so well with the previous one! I am loving this series, and feel like I know the town and the people of Linden Falls personally. In this book, we get to meet Coco Baines who is trying to make herself look better physically to make her boss happy. Janie tries to assure her that she already looks beautiful. Janie is preparing to finalize the divorce from her husband Max when, to her surprise, he comes into "her" town of Linden Falls and starts trying to help out wherever he can, including trying to find a way to save the famous Wishing Tree. Janie is trying to find out what he has up his sleeve. He loves the big, corporate fast paced life, so what brought him to Linden Falls out of the blue?
This is a must read that you won't want to put down!

Wishing tree peril

As the Wishing Tree story continues we are introduced to new characters and learn more about some older ones. Courtney (Coco) comes to town to better herself so she can land an anchor position at her current workplace. Janie is back minding her new shop as well as her life with Neva and her kids at the Inn. By a chance happening Janie’s soon to be ex husband Max is involved in a car accident with Calvin, the local news reporter.
Coco comes to the rescue to help Calvin with his injury as well as save the wishing tree from developers, but maybe Calvin is actually helping her!
Is Max here to see his girls, or to get Janie to rethink the divorce? Can the town save the tree or will life in Linden Falls change because a tree is unimportant to money making development? Fun story, ready for the next.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, all opinions in this review are my own.

This is the ninth book in the Wishing Tree series by multiple authors. This one was written by Kay Bratt. This time it is a story about Janie Stallard and her pending divorce. It’s also about visitor Coco Baines and her quest to lose weight and get her promotion to anchorwoman. Is it what either of them want? In the midst of it all, the owner of a newly purchased business is threatening to cut down the Wishing Tree because the roots have damaged the pipes. The town is in an uproar because it looks like there is no way to save it. This is a wonderful and heartwarming story you’ll have to read to see what happens with Janie, Coco and the tree. These stories are all about a charming town full of concerned citizens that help each other out. I’m really looking forward to reading the rest of the series. The stories are so relatable.

The Wishing Tree Series is such an enjoyable collection of stories by a talented group of authors and Book #9 by Kay Bratt continues in that same tradition.
We see many familiar characters in this book, including Janie Stallard, Neva’s niece and proprietor of a new store called Wishful Thinking. There’s also a new arrival in town, Coco Baines, a broadcaster who is taking some time off to transform herself. Both women are pursuing the paths they believe will lead to fulfillment and happiness. Their stories intertwine as things are complicated by a surprise visitor, an unexpected accident, and finally, a threat to the future of the Wishing Tree itself.
An enjoyable, easy read with plenty of surprises, hope, humor and romance.

New Beginnings come to Linden Falls!

Wishful Thinking ( book9) in the Wishing Tree Series By Kay Bratt is about teamwork . Especially for newcomer Coco Baines who is here to try and transform herself at the gym in order to please her boss at a tv station for a on screen position .
Janey , Neva’s niece is getting her new earthy store up and running while
her daughters work at the Inn . A development surrounding the famous Wishing Tree itself ! Put into the mix an injured reporter , an estranged husband a few pets , waiting for a miracle to save that Wishing Tree will take teamwork plus !!! This book had me glued to my seat while I read each new development . Kay Bratt did a great job intertwining all the details !

Janie Stallard has moved to Linden Falls to be closer to her found family and build a new life for herself and her daughters after she left her husband and filed for divorce. She’s finally found herself, is following her dreams, and has no plans to return to her former life.

Coco Baines is in town for a brief stay hoping she can lose the weight her boss wants her to lose if she ever hopes to get the big promotion she’s been dreaming of and working toward.

When the beloved Wishing tree is in danger of being cut down, Janie, Coco, and most of the other town residents band together to do whatever it takes to prevent that from happening. They get help along the way by an unlikely visitor to the town, but will it be enough to save the tree?

A heartwarming, quick, fun read!

Several things are happening in this book. Janie’s estranged husband shows up and she questions his motives. Coco comes to Linden Falls to try to slim down and get her coveted anchor-woman job. Calvin, the local reporter, has an accident and solicits Coco’s help. The Wishing Tree is in danger of being cut down by the new owners of the property. How do all these happenings tie together? Read this great addition to the series and find out. I do recommend reading the series in order because the characters reappear and develop throughout the series.

I am loving this series very much! Kay Bratt’s newest addition to the series takes us back to Linden Falls, it’s Wishing Tree and it’s townspeople. We get a chance to catch up on the lives of some we already know and get to meet someone new - just visiting - or will she stay? Sadly, we find the town dealing with a serious crisis - one that could forever change it and the hearts of people who love living here. Never underestimate what people will do to save something dear to them!
A big thank you to the author for giving me a chance to be an early reader!!

I was lucky enough to get an Advanced Readers Copy in return for my honest opinion.
I loved this book in The Wishing Tree series, all the books center around The Wishing Tree located in the town square of Linden Falls, a quaint little New England town.
The tree and the town itself are lovable characters as much as the primary characters. For this story I was glad to see Janie, a secondary character from an earlier book, get to be the lead, and thoroughly enjoyed her story!

I am loving this series and this latest book by Kay Bratt. We meet Coco Baines who is staying at the Wishing Tree Inn but soon becomes engaged in the community. When the rumor hits about the Wishing Tree needing to be taken down the community comes out in full force. This is a definite must read!
I received an advance copy of this book from the author, however I voluntarily wrote an honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.

Fabulous Addition to the Series

This was another fabulous addition to the series. I love to see the stories of the characters evolve from book to book. It amazes me how all these different authors carry continuity of characters and Linden Falls from book to book. This one rings in new characters while also elaborating on old ones. It also has a very different story line from the rest that you didn’t see coming. Good, quick read. Great addition to the series.

Another good entry in the life of the Wishing Tree

In this episode we are given more details of some previous characters' lives and loves. I like when that happens in this series. I'm still fascinated with this type of episodic writing, so I hope there will be more forthcoming. Some may call this type of writing "fluff stuff," but I sometimes need this sort of reading because it keeps my mind free from the worries of Real Life.

Linden Falls is a small town with big stories! This book is part of a series. You can read it by itself, but reading the series brings you closer to the residents of Linden Falls! This book focuses on Janie and a newcomer, Coco. I loved reading more about Janie and the decisions she faced, and Coco turned into such a delight! I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

The Wishing Tree Series Book 9

If you haven't started reading this series, start at the beginning. Book one gives you a synopsis of what is to come and a brief note about each of the authors. You can skip that one but by all means, start with two and continue on, you won't be disappointed.

Kat Bratt took me back to my 20’s with this book. My 20’s were the 60’s and spent in a activist town of Austin. Protests, especially over trees, were big and this book takes me right back to those times. How can someone think to cut down a healthy old tree, especially one that is the heart of the town. I really enjoyed this book.

Wonderful

This read was inspirational, the Wishing tree truly brings people together, this time the tree itself needs help. We have new and old characters who come into Linden Falls to change themselves, while finding that they are part of something bigger, part of the town itself. This is a wonderful series .

Heartwarming and full of wishes, the Wishing Tree series is back with all new stories from some of your favorite authors. In this book by Kay Bratt, someone has bought the land that the Wishing Tree sits on and the tree will be cut down!
There is a lot of thinking, hoping and wishing as to how the tree can be saved, but will it? A must read!

Another trip back to Wishing Tree. When Max appears, I wanted him to leave. Courtney Baines came to hide, but when she helps Calvin with his reporting she is out in view.
Janey wants MAx to leave. The girls want him to stay.
Will Neva help?
Can the Wishing Tree be saved?
Read to find out.
