Sometimes the best solution for rain clouds, is the sun demanding to be seen.

Jasper
That demanding ray of sunshine had a name. It was Remle Clay. She marched into my life with no preamble and refused to be ignored. No matter how hard I slammed the door, she’d find a window to tap against. The people of Sycamore Mountain gave me a wide berth and I liked it that way. All I wanted was peace and quiet, so how did that curvy red head continue to insinuate herself into my space?

Remle
Jasper Raj. That man was equal parts arrogant and enigmatic. He was a puzzle I couldn’t piece together. My career depended on getting his distillery, Lakshmi Bourbon, to join the National Bourbon Association before our big National Bourbon Day celebration. Yet, I’d knock on his door—he’d slam it in my face. I’d send a cookie basket, and I’d watch him toss it to the birds. There had to be a way to get onto his calendar and in my lineup of clients. The harder he pushed me away, the deeper I dug my heels in. When did our little cat and mouse game become fun?

When traumas are uncovered, and feelings unearthed, will these opposites finally give in to their attraction? Whiskey Business is a curvy heroine, broken hero, grumpy/sunshine instalove. Guaranteed safe with no cheating and no cliffhangers! Why not spend some time in Sycamore Mountain.

Most of these are always written in third person, as if the author isn't the one actually writing them. So, I'm going to be a rule-breaker and write it in first person instead. I'm a native Chicagoan, vegetarian, and lover of big words. I randomly burst out into song, and have been known to carry on entire conversations (with those worthy of the challenge) in song lyrics. The same can also be said for movie quotes. I'm quirky, sarcastic, I've been told at times I can be a bit esoteric, but overall I'd rather be dancing in the rain than waiting for the storm to pass.

And I LOVE connecting with people- so go on, hit the "friend" button. :)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | Whiskey Business by Willow Sanders

This was such a fun, quick read and honestly the perfect one-day escape.

We’re following Remle and Jasper, and these two were just so easy to root for. Remle works in PR for the National Bourbon Association and is determined to get Jasper to sign his distillery on. She’s sunshine in human form sweet, energetic, and incredibly likable. I loved how relatable she felt, and she brought such a lightness to the story.

Jasper, on the other hand, is our classic grumpy, reclusive MMC. He’s been hiding out in a small town for years, carrying a heavy past while building his bourbon business. I really appreciated how well his backstory and emotional arc were handled. Even in a shorter story, his growth felt natural and never rushed which isn’t always easy to pull off.

The romance? So good. It’s not a slow burn these two feel the connection early and actually go for it, which I loved. No unnecessary back-and-forth, no drawn-out miscommunication just two people leaning into what they feel. It was sweet, intentional, and satisfying.

This was a super easy read to get into, flowed really well, and kept me engaged the entire time. If you’re looking for a cozy, small-town romance with a grumpy/sunshine dynamic and a bourbon twist, this one is definitely worth picking up.

I was lucky enough to receive a gifted ALC from High Gravity Productions, and the narration by Savannah Thomas and Vikas Adam was spot on. They truly brought Remle and Jasper to life and added so much depth to the story.

This is book 3 in the Barren Hill series but can be read as a standalone. I have not read the others and did not have any issues with this one. I listened to this one on audio. It is dual narration and I felt like the narrators did a fantastic job portraying both Remle and Jasper! This was a quick and fun listen!

This one definitely has some great grumpy/sunshine vibes with a broody Jasper and optimistic Remle! There was some great banter, some deeper more emotional moments, some spice, and a good mix of inclusion with several of the characters and I loved that addition into the story.

I loved the small-town vibes with the bourbon distillery being the focus for the two characters meeting. Indian hero, curvy heroine, and some sweetness and spice! Even though it was a novella, it did feel a bit deeper than the majority of those go and I liked that. Definitely recommend checking this one out. Huge thank you to High Gravity Productions and the author for the early copy to listen to!

Sipped on Whiskey Business and it went down smooth. 🥃😏 Notes of slow burn, undeniable chemistry, and just the right amount of heat — Jasper and Remle are a blend I didn’t know I needed. Savannah Thomas and Vikas Adam were the perfect pairing for this one.

Whiskey Business by Willow Sanders is another fantastic addition to the Barren Hill series, delivering a sweet, high-heat romance that is nearly impossible to put down. Narrated with deep emotional resonance by Savannah Thomas and Vikas Adam, this grumpy-sunshine novella follows Jasper Raj and Remle Clay. Jasper is a former Chicago ER doctor turned bourbon distiller who moved to North Carolina seeking peace, quiet, and isolation. He is an alpha personified—enigmatic, arrogant, and perfectly content to slam the door on the world until Remle marches into his life like a persistent ray of sunshine.

Remle works for the National Bourbon Association and is determined to get Jasper’s distillery, Lakshmi Bourbon, onto the National Bourbon Trail. Her mission is complicated by a five-year-old slight from her organization, which previously claimed bourbon could only be made in Kentucky. Despite Jasper’s best efforts to ignore her—including tossing her cookie baskets to the birds—Remle is a force of nature who refuses to be deterred. The harder he pushes, the deeper she digs her heels in, sparking a cat-and-mouse game that quickly evolves from professional persistence into undeniable attraction.

The chemistry between them is electric and moves fluidly from frustration to a magnetic pull that neither can ignore. Remle is a curvy, intelligent heroine whose "bothersome" nature is exactly what Jasper needs to break his shell, while Jasper’s grumpy exterior masks a man who is secretly "whipped" by her presence. As their traumas are uncovered and feelings unearthed, the story balances its spicy "instalove" energy with genuine emotional depth.

Adding a delightful layer of humor and tension is the arrival of Jasper’s mother, who shows up with a literal book of prospective brides, forcing the couple to confront what they really mean to one another. Setting the story in the cozy, descriptive atmosphere of Sycamore Mountain makes the romance feel both familiar and fresh. Willow Sanders has crafted a beautiful story of healing and empowerment, proving that even the most stubborn heart can be brought to its knees by the right person. It is a heartfelt, 5-star read that leaves you with a guaranteed HEA and a lingering smile.

This part of the Sycamore Mountain series (A Man of the Month Novella) each book reads as a standalone this place in a small town with a sexy guy and the women who bring them to their knees. Remle is so sweet, but she is a force to acknowledge she is a ray of sunshine to most that cross her path, she tries her best to get along with everyone she meets although some require her to work a little harder and that is just find she will find another way to get your attention or acknowledgement it’s just her personality. Jasper is your sexy as all get out grump, alpha personified, grumpy for no apparent reason although let him tell it he has reason so ignoring people isn’t hard for him in fact he likes it that way and all he wants is his peace and quiet, oh, and to be left alone. The moment the two of the meets there is an attraction however, how hard he tries he can’t ignore the bothersome Ms. Clay now that she has inserted herself in his way or put herself on his path, he can’t stop thinking about her, she makes appearance in his dreams and every minute of every hour seems to be filled with thoughts of Ms. Clay 😊 if truth be told he likes it but he will deny it to the last breath. Remle isn’t fairing any better she thinks of Mr. Raj constantly, he also fills her dreams but getting him to notice well that is going to be a whole lot of fun because pushing his buttons and showing up when he least expect it gives her reason to smile and all his grumpiness fuels her interest with him that keeps her coming back for a smile or a touch or just a word from him. As they play the game their attraction grows and the magnetic pull between them can’t be ignored but is it enough, will he finally give in to the attraction, will she finally understand why he feels the need to be alone, and is there a HEA for the grumpy sexy man and his bothersome girl?.

🥃 Whiskey Business 🥃

Written by @authorwillowsanders
Narrated by @savannahreadsromance & @vikasadam
Produced by @highgravityaudiobooks

⭐ 4.5 Overall
📖 Story: 4 ⭐

🎙 Narration: 5 ⭐ – I was fully obsessed with these two narrators and how they brought this story to life.

This is part of The Barren Hill Series (Book 3).

Jasper Raj left his position as an ER doctor in Chicago to move to Sycamore Mountain, North Carolina to make bourbon… and fully lean into his “leave me alone” era.

Remle is such a standout FMC. She’s sweet but not to be underestimated—a true ray of sunshine who makes it her mission to connect with everyone she meets. Even when someone makes that difficult, she doesn’t back down… she just finds another way in. That persistence? Loved it.

And then there’s Jasper—your classic grumpy, alpha, “don’t talk to me” MMC. He’s broody for his own reasons, thrives in solitude, and genuinely prefers being left alone… which of course makes it even better when Remle walks in and disrupts all of that.

One of my favorite elements was the Desi Indian representation for the MMC. It added such a refreshing layer to the story. As someone who low-key loves watching Indian Matchmaking on Netflix, I really appreciated the glimpse into that dynamic. Even though the matchmaking aspect is a smaller part of the novella, it added meaningful depth to Jasper’s journey and emotional barriers.

I absolutely loved the narrators. @vikasadam is a new narrator for me and WOW—he did a fantastic job bringing the MMC to life. I’m officially on the hunt for more of his work because his voice was just so swoon-worthy. @savannahreadsromance did an equally amazing job and truly brought the FMC to life. Together, they definitely elevated this story and made the listening experience even more immersive.

✨ Thank you to @highgravityaudiobooks for the ALC. This was exactly what I needed.

Overall, this was a fun, flirty, opposites-attract romance with strong narration that completely elevated the experience.

Whiskey Business legitimately caught me off guard in the best freaking way.

First, for anybody who doesn’t know… bourbon is a literal LIFESTYLE and people take it so so so seriously. The tension between what is bourbon and what isn’t, does NC count vs. only Kentucky, it was a whole vibe. Also, Willow’s mea culpa at the end was so good. Hearing her thought process and where this all came from was so good.

Second… I LOVED Jasper and Remle individually and together. This is a true grumpy sunshine dynamic where the MMC ISN’T cruel, just standoffish, reluctant, jaded, etc. And can we talk about the representation here? A curvy FMC who doesn’t dwell on her size the entire time, who is also friendly, outgoing, kind, and charismatic? YES PLEASE! And a Desi MMC who is this sexy, smooth ex-doctor turned distiller, balancing his more traditional family against his own path? EVEN MORE YES!

The only thing I didn’t love was the conflict. I didn’t understand why Remle got so upset over Jasper’s mom. It didn’t feel that judgy or rude, but maybe I’m just more used to worse from previous experiences in that same area.

I devoured this book as an ALC from High Gravity Productions and, oh my God. Let’s talk about Savannah Thomas first because she has such a wonderful voice, and she really brought her A game with this one-different accents, tones, speaking cadence. Incredible work!

I want to go on record right now saying that I might never recover from Vikas Adam’s performance here. I… I just… phew. “When you go, I go..” will live rent-free in my head forever. This is my first audio with him, and I’m not sure how I’m supposed to go on with life as usual, knowing I’d rather be listening to him read/narrate ANYTHING.

Whiskey Business
Barren Hill Book 3
By Willow Sanders
Narrated by Savannah Thomas, Vikas Adams

There is nothing better than escaping into a small town romance. Remle is in town to try and woo Jasper. Not in the way you are thinking. She works for the National Bourbon Association and Jasper owns a distillery and he isn't not in Kentucky. Traditionally, bourbon can only be made in Kentucky, but he settled in North Carolina after leaving a high pressured ER doctor position. He just wanted the peace and quiet to create his bourbon, so the pushiness of Remle hits him the wrong way from the start. But there is something about her that is under his skin. She doesn't give up, digs her heels into the small town and she is everywhere, and eventually in his bed. But she can't stay there. She is going to have to go back home, and he is going to go back to his quiet life. Or will she? There is so much humor and fun in this one! I was taken from the start as this grumpy sunshine story took off. Loving the small town nosiness and the Jasper's mom looking for a way to get her grandchildren! This is a romantic, spicy, fun listen and should not be missed.

Savannah Thomas is Remle, and I love the way she creates her personality. Very spunky, very stubborn and very passionate, every scene is full of some kind of emotion and it's perfectly performed. Vikas Adams is the best grumpy Jasper! His voice is a tough cookie, does whatever he can to avoid people and slowly melts the walls around him. Together the feelings are real, and they pulled me right into their story. Loved it!

Even though this is the third book in the Man of the Month series, it can easily be enjoyed on its own. As someone who hasn’t read the earlier books, I found it very accessible and never felt confused or like I was missing important backstory.

What really stood out to me was how engaging and entertaining the story was from start to finish. The pacing felt just right, balancing romance, tension, and character development in a way that kept me invested. The chemistry between the main characters was believable and fun to watch unfold, with just enough emotional depth to keep things from feeling too surface-level.

The audiobook narration by Savannah Thomas and Vikas Adam truly elevated the experience. Savannah Thomas brought a warmth and authenticity to the female lead, making her emotions feel genuine and relatable. Vikas Adam added a smooth, charismatic tone to the male perspective that made his chapters especially enjoyable. Together, they created a dynamic listening experience that made the story feel even more immersive.

While I really enjoyed the book, there were a few moments where I wanted just a bit more depth or complexity, particularly in some of the conflicts. That said, it didn’t take away from the overall enjoyment—it was still a fun, satisfying listen.

This was an entertaining, well-narrated romance that’s perfect when you’re looking for something engaging but not overly heavy.

Jasper Raj left his position as an ER doctor in Chicago to move to Sycamore Mountain in North Carolina to make bourbon. And it is excellent bourbon, and a very expensive bourbon. Remle works for the National Bourbon Association in Kentucky and they have sent her to get Jasper to join their National Bourbon Trail. Trouble starts when Remle is told that her company sent Jasper a letter 5 years ago stating that he does not make bourbon as bourbon is only made in Kentucky and he cannot be in the National Bourbon Association or on their bourbon trail. This starts Remle on her quest to show Jasper that he can be on their bourbon trail and it would be a great boost to the economy of Sycamore Mountain. This is an excellent love story. Remle and Jasper are made for each other and slowly realize it as she gets to know him and he gets to know her. Trouble comes when Jasper's mother shows up like a good Indian mother with a book of women who would make good wife's for Jasper if he would just pick one. I just loved this book, Remle and Jasper have their ups and downs but mostly ups and I loved the chemistry between these two. It was an excellent read and once started I couldn't put it down.

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. Remle really enjoys her job working for the NBA. She is also excellent at it. It was run with strict rules, made by good old boys who weren't interested in bringing the Bourbon Association into current times. Things are changing now though. She gets the chance to extend an invitation to an amazing distiller that never met the criteria before. The thing is that she's thrown into the deep end without all the information. Jasper has been left with a bad taste in his mouth when it comes to the NBA. He just wants to find peace and a new direction for his life to go in. Remle can see a much bigger picture for Jasper and his community. They begin on opposite sides and discover there is so much more to each other. This story had me laughing throughout but it also has some serious and sad parts. Overall it was a fun and unique love story that I really enjoyed. I liked the storyline and all of the characters. There were many to like. This is one of my favorites in the Sycamore Mountain series.

Dr. Jasper Raj escaped to Sycamore Mountain to heal and found a new calling in distilling and bottling bourbon. Although according to the old guard of the National Bourbon Association (NBA) he cannot call it bourbon because it is not made in Kentucky.
Remle works for the new guard of the NBA and as part of the public relations team, she is tasked with meeting and recruiting Jasper into becoming a member of the NBA and putting his distillery on the Bourbon Trail. She has her work cut out for her.
This book had a lot of references to different bourbons and flavor profiles that kind of lost me since I do not drink, but otherwise it is a cute romantic read.

Grumpy x Sunshine
Small-town romance
Instalove
A hero who really needs healing
Dual POV - 1st person

Dual narration - Savannah Thomas & Vikas Adams
I always enjoy these two as narrators they both did a wonderful job.

Grumpy x sunshine is one of my favorite tropes. We love a grumpy man who only softens for his lady.
This one did not disapoint me, Remle is in the small town where Jasper makes his fabulous bourbon. She is on a mission to convince him to join the National Bourbon Association, for which he is very reluctant about and grumpy.

This series is so fun to read with great characters and story lines. The books are sweet and full of heart felt themes/moments. Short and easy to follow. Overall, a good book. Would recommend to a friend.

Jasper was a reclusive ex ER doctor who distilled bourbon in Sycamore mountain. He just wanted to be left alone after a traumatic event years earlier that made him leave medicine. Remle was a hot, sassy PR guru who was sent to get him to join the National Bourbon Association. He was resistant but she wasn’t giving up! Their feelings for each other grew the more they got to know each other. Their chemistry was absolutely amazing! This was a wonderfully written story with depth and laughter. It captured my attention from beginning to end. The HEA was lovely.

Whiskey Business takes you on an emotional struggle of dealing with the past, what family wants, new ideas and finding love.

Jasper was a doctor, but when his world crashed around him, he found the solace of the mountain and a new opportunity to heal his soul. Reml grew up in area where bourdon is bourdon and anything else is whiskey. When ideas changed, Reml's boss task her with the job of getting Jasper to join the NBA, more is at stakes than she realizes.

This is a great story as the tension between Jasper and Reml creates amazing push and pull that grabs you with each turn of the page.

A lovely addition to the series

We finally read about the elusive Lakshmi bourbon that has been mentioned in previous stories. Jasper Raj is the reclusive owner of Lakshmi. When Renle Clay arrives to convince him to become a member of the National Bourbon Association, neither expects to fall for the other.

I LOVED that we got an Indian male lead. (I totally imagined Rahul Kohli as I read Jasper 😉).
A much longer novella, this occasionally loses its way a little. There is quite a lot of dialogue that feels like the character is just talking at people, with zero reaction from the other. That aside, I really loved Jasper's story, and the ending was *chefs kiss*

I was thrilled to get this audio book. The author absolutely nailed it with this story. And the narrators that were chosen were utterly perfect for this. Savannah Thomas and Vikas Adam delivered a stellar performance. I loved listening to these two narrators. They each hit the mark on bringing out the personalities of the characters. I liked Jasper's grumpy growly personality and Remle's vibrant outgoing kind of personality. I loved it. I also liked the small town vibes, the banter, the spice, and the romance. I cannot not recommend this audio more than enough. Thanks so much to High Gravity Productions and the author for a copy of this audio. All opinions are my own and freely expressed.

A Whole New World
This story just would not let me go… I just could not stop reading it… well there were a few scenes that were just a little too private for my eyes so I skimmed past them. Oh, at the end, be sure to read the Mea Culpa chat from the author for little extra insight. Sometimes we need someone special to help us recover from a trauma. Happy Reading ! !

This was an amazing story. It started out kinda slow but had a great buildup. I had to finish the story to find out what was going to happen between Jasper and Remle. Remle was never false with her praise and admiration of the bourbon that he created. Jasper was of Indian heritage and it was interesting addition to the story. I love the ending of the book and how two people that had tremendous chemistry found their way back to each other. Enjoyed this story and highly recommend.

Willow Sanders' contribution to the multi-author Sycamore Mountain (Man of the Month Club) series with Whiskey Business. National Bourban Association employee Remle and reclusive distiller Jasper are as different as night and day - but the opposites, nay adversaries, have palpable chemistry from their first meeting. From the first page to the last, this wonderfully written novel pulls you in, curvy heroine Remle a ray of sunshine to Jasper's swoon-y grumpiness. An entertaining, engaging and steamy read.

A battle of the wills with a Bourbon chaser

Whiskey Business by Willow Sanders is part of the multi-author Sycamore Mountain series. This book is a nice addition to the series as it is an engaging story about a battle of the wills that takes on some interesting proportions. Both Remle Clay and Jasper Raj have Bourbon running through their veins and wills that just don't bend. But Jasper has met his match in Remle as she is determined with a capital "D", to get what she wants. It is not Jasper but in a way it still is, which makes this story that much more pleasurable.

An enjoyable quick read. This is Jasper an ex doctor turn bourbon maker and Remle a PR consultant for the NBA. Remle is sent to get Jasper to join the NBA but at first finds it difficult to get a meeting with the grumpy recluse. Then a little road trip turn things around. This was an excellent quick read, some characters from previous books makes an appearance in here too that I liked because I knew some of them already and got a little glimpse into what they have been up to.

Jasper owns a bourbon company and Remle works for the National Bourbon Association which is about to have its National Bourbon Day Celebration. She keeps hounding him until he finally listens and then she helps him improve his process and more. Loved the characters, their backstories and determination. Plenty of drama, misconceptions, revelations, steam, twists, and much more. Totally enjoyed the story and plan on reading more of this series shortly.

Whiskey Business is a delightful grumpy/sunshine romance that takes place on Sycamore Mountain. Remle and Jasper meet when she arrives to try and convince him to join the Bourbon Association. Jasper proves to be illusive and not interested in their offer. Remle? Now that’s a different story.
The dual narration by Savannah Thomas and Vikas Adam was spectacular. Savannah Thomas was brilliant as sweet, kind, loving, strong, determined Remle. Vikas Adam was divine as grumpy, growly Jasper. They brought this story to life beautifully. I highly recommend listening to this audiobook.

Remle has to work to gain his attention but does. Their attraction soon becomes more but a misunderstanding separates them. This time the roles are reversed and I like how Jasper does it. I admire Remle for taking the chance for something she loves doing and being near Jasper is only a very nice bonus that she enjoys more.

The author has given us a wonderful story that pulls us into the liver of Remle and Jasper and does not let go. He has been hiding behind his bourbon distillery for years when Remle arrives and tries to get him to join the Bourbon Association she is working for. Will she be able to break through his walls and help him and his community?

This was an amazing small town romance. It was probably my favorite book by this author, it just had such warmth and heart to it. I loved Remle, she was just such a wonderful character and I felt like I really got to know her. Jasper was a bit harder to get to know but once Remle got under his skin, he really opened up. Such a great story.
