The pages of this little book each have a mental health affirmation paired with a cute monster illustration. The pages are grouped together by theme, and whenever I felt anxious, I found myself flipping a corresponding section and reading a couple of pages to steady my mood. This is a very gentle book that is lovely to have on hand if you are going through a stressful time. - Dominique A.
This book is so simple yet so effective and helpful. You can read it as many times as you need. It is especially great that it doesn't require a lot of time which is important these days when we all are in a rush and don't have so much free time. I got it as a birthday gift and it is really helping me with my condition, and I will recommend it to everyone, whether they have mental health problems or not.
Right. Little backstory on how I ended up discovering this book: in recent years I've struggled a lot with reading for pleasure and just sitting down with a book and my own thoughts. In consequence, I haven't completed a book challenge since 2017 and this year, too, I ran behind and I'm only halfway through my set reading challenge. So I set out to find really short books that I could read one/day so I can complete my reading challenge this year :)
This being said, I am very glad I stumbled upon this one on Scribd. It was a gentle reminder that sometimes our best is just doing a little thing in a day, as I am doing with the 'reading marathon' lol. I will surely keep it handy for when things get overwhelming and I do encourage you to give it a try.
I randomly came across this book. I didn’t know what to expect other than it was about anxiety, but it ended up being very helpful as I work on my own mental health journey. I can have pretty severe anxiety and panic, and some of the affirmations are perfect for my husband to use when helping me when I have a panic attack, so thank you! The monster illustrations were so cute, too!
I randomly accessed this book yesterday because it happened to be on Kindle Book Deals. I read it today, in the middle of the work, because I am indeed in a phase of anxiety. It's a light read that I can skim thru since the text is not full on a page, and the major contents are a bunch of reminders along with cute monster illustrations. Some of them are helpful, but almost all of them are just quotes that I have read on the Internet.
Very helpful little book. Cute illustrated affirmations to comfort you, maybe to meditate on, as needed. Created a Goodreads entry just to be able to give it the full five stars and recommend it.
Nothing too surprising. A lot of information overlap between this one and The Coddling of the American Mind. Thankful phones came along after our kids matured.
