地球が正体不明の膜に覆われ、地球内外で時間の進み方が極端に変わる世界。地球での1秒が、膜外では数年になる。異星人の仕業だと思えるが、正体を見せないし、目的を明かす行動もない。地球だけで時間がほぼ進まなくなり、邦題の「時間封鎖」という表現がものすごくしっくりくる。時間の流れの差を利用して、火星をテラフォーミングするプロジェクトが動き、成功したかに思える。だが火星も時間封鎖の目に遭ってしまう。ここまでが上巻の出来事。火星と地球の関係はどうなるのか、時間封鎖は解けるのか、解けた場合に地球に起きることは何か、疑問ばかりが出てくる。これをどうまとめるのか、下巻に期待する。

First half of the novel is boring but in the middle of reading it, then it becomes interesting.
