Ok….. I struggled with this story….But, Annette you were Absolutely right….By, completing the story I really got a much better understanding of Siyanna’s behavior…because Lord knows she was really getting on my nerves….But, finishing this story…made it a little better to accept their love….I was also hoping for a love connection between Torrence & Dani ….I also wanted more to happen to Joseph, Natalie & Patrick…..Drue knew exactly what he wanted from the beginning and I really had to respect that…he was steadfast.
Honey, this book took me through it! Conflicted Heart was an exceptional read. The unconventional love story of Siyanna and Drue was beautifully told and their love journey was anything but easy. Given the circumstance of how they got together, some would consider their relationship taboo but, honestly, who else could they have fallen in love with other than each other?!!! I loved how Drue's love for Siyanna was unwavering. Once he finally admitted to himself that he was in love with her, there was no turning back for him. He was ready to move forward with their future but, that damn Siyanna gave him the blues. Lawd, she took my boy Drue through it. Honestly, I did not like Siyanna. She made their situation way more complicated than it had to. The mysterious old lady told her to "Uncomplicate it. It's not that complicated" but, that heffa just wouldn't listen. The games Siyanna played with Ethan and how she kept throwing him in Drue's face really pissed me off. Her codependency on the boy was a step below from being obsessive and when she called herself trying to move out and take them, I was done with Siyanna. While I sympathized with her when all the secret tea was spilled about her and Summer, it still didn't make me like her any less. I didn't necessarily root for them as a couple, I was at least semihappy Drue got his HEA. Conflicted Heart was a beautiful and tragic story of love lost and love found. Be prepared to go through a rollercoaster of emotions but, the journey is so worth it.
Conflicted Heart heartbreakingly beautiful. You could just feel the pain Siyanna and Drue experienced when they lost their sister and brother but, you could also feel the love as well. I absolutely loved how Drue loved Siyanna even when she was acting like an azz. 🥹🥹🥹 Conflicted Heart was a really good book and I highly recommend you asd it to your TBR.
Wow! Ms. Shanee! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Such a heart-gripping, emotional, yet sexy, romantic, and beautiful story. I just can’t get over how the pure electricity that popped off between these two was practically leaping off the pages!🔥🔥
Reading about Siyanna and Drue having to wade through the pain and trauma of losing the two most important people in their lives, while dealing with the overwhelming guilt they felt when they began falling for one another really had my heart going out to them. Can you imagine the best day of your life (beautiful babies) also being the worst day of your life? Whew! Mercy!💔
I love the way Ms. Shanee allowed us to be ALL up in the characters heads. Got to feel a little bit of what they were going through, and I didn’t (not once) feel like it was too much.
In the midst of tremendous and tragic loss, Siyanna and Drue found an amazing and beautiful love. But lawdamercy, did Siyanna try to fight it hard—and was failing miserably! 😂 I get it—Drue was sexy and very intense.🔥🥴 And I definitely understood her reasoning, even sympathizing with her feelings of guilt, but homegirl should have resisted the “D” a little harder--I mean better! 🤭🤣
Ms. Shanee did not miss a step with this story, and I love how she continues to incorporate the need and benefits of therapy in her stories. By the way, I lost my mother in 2009, is there any way I can adopt Ms. Cherie?! A sassy, funny, sweet and very supportive mother/mother-in-law/ grammy. Loved her to pieces! 💖💖
An unconventional relationship between two hurting souls is the basis of another great read from Kay Shanee. I loved the twists and turns of the story; they kept me engrossed in making it to the conclusion. My favorite character: Mama Cherie!!! Hilarious and a great example of a loving mother.
When I read the synopsis of this book I said, "Oh, HELL NO!! I hate these types of books." But I read a few of the reviews and decided to give it a try. I am so very happy that I did. This book was an emotional rollercoaster and a very real look at how a situation like this could come to pass. The supporting characters in this book were awesome. The emotional conflicts experienced by Drue & Si Si were very real and understandable. This book is well worth your time. Well done Kay Shanee. Well done!
Kay Shanee is not right! She put these poor people through it! Siyanna and Drew lose their spouses and their twins on the same day. Additionally, Siyanna goes into premature labor. On the same day!!! They are then tasked with raising infant sons all while grieving their beloved spouses and twin siblings. They chose to parent together since neither is prepared to be a single parent. But imagine raising children with and living with a person that has your deceased spouse’s face. This taboo romance is sweet, frustrating, and dramatic. There were multiple instances where I audibly gasped. But don’t get it twisted, the thing they do most in this book is clap cheeks. The audiobook is a disappointment. Conflicted Hearts has a surprising amount of sex scenes and the narrator does not one of them justice. Kay Shanee wrote the words so it’s surely hot, hot when physically reading.
I have been pushing off reading this book for a couple months. When I originally read the synopsis for this book, I was not quite sure what I was in for. I am so glad I stopped playing around and read this book, because it was amazing! This story definitely lived up to its title “Conflicted Hearts”. This story centers around Drue and Siyanna. Both of them experienced tragic loss and have found solace in eachother . Their relationship in the beginning makes sense. Two people grieving while finding a new normal. As the story goes on, things get very taboo. I was not sure how to feel about the progression of their relationship. It felt wrong, forbidden, but on the other hand love isn’t always a fairytale. Kay Shanee gave us a story showing us that sometimes love is complicated, taboo even. But who are we to judge? This is not a cookie cutter romance. This story shows the not so perfect elements of love. Drue was all in but Siyanna realistically had reservations. I found myself eventually rooting for them! This was such a unique storyline. We get a complete story. No questions left unanswered! I finished this story with a full heart! This story was more than a romance! It was thrilling and scandalous as well! It was definitely hot and steamy too! 🔥🔥I loved everything about this story from the plot to the characters! I could not put this book down! This story was detailed, but faaaarr from boring! This is definitely a must read!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I had to sit with this book for few days before I wrote my review. This book was true to its title—Conflicted Hearts, after suffering tragic losses Drue and Siyanna find a love with each other that feels forbidden. At the beginning, it took some time for me to be okay with them falling in love, but when I thought about it—love can be complicated, the people involved in that love choose to uncomplicate things in order to be together.
Reading this book was like watching something play out that you weren’t supposed to see— it felt like a taboo, exciting secret. what I love the most about this book is that it was not a cookie-cutter romance book, the author was not afraid to capture the imperfect elements that shaped the couple’s relationship. & beyond the romance there was the realistic emotions involved when someone loses a spouse like showing how grief is not a linear process so it can just hit anytime, out of the blue. & The struggle to love again and the guilt associated with loving again and it being your the brother In-Law/sister-in-law.
When reading Romance books, I hate finishing a book & feeling robbed because, where was the relationship?? like okay, y’all have some good sex and went out a couple dates…. What about this person is going to make you want to keep them in your space when you get to the age where people start to annoy you?? THIS BOOK got me out of that slump because Kay Shane’s gave us a FULL love story!! The love between Drue and Siyanna was believable and memorable because the author actually explored the making of the relationship/what the love was built on.
Bottom line, I loved this book because it actually gave a developed romance and it wasn’t afraid to be different. I highly recommend this book. As always, I am patiently waiting for the next Kay Shanee book!
Ma'am when I say you did the damn thang, you did that! Bronze that pen, frame it, dip it in gold or something, cause this is right here is it!! My tear ducts are empty, my eyes are burning, nose is running from crying and I'm exhausted! This read just really dragged me all the way through it! My heart broke for both Siyanna and Drue, with all that they had to endure with their losses! 💔 As they tried to piece their lives back together, and kept hitting roadblocks; I literally felt my heart squeezing as I wanted to take some of their pain away! Drue, although he sat on his feelings for a minute, he knew life was too precious to let not follow his heart. Forget them damn people, and what they think or say! Miss Siyanna was a different animal! She felt an immense sense of betrayal with her feelings for Drue. Her heart knew what was up, but she did not know how to justify them with her mind! I understood her hesitation, but also knew there had to be something else going to with her. Finding out her and Summer's story, was beyond horrific! I mean what in the entire hell is the matter with people?? 🤬🤯 I know this topic is controversial, but what I saw here was love! That is all! The love that blossomed from grief and loss, was something to be celebrated! How these two were able to pull themselves out of that black hole of pain and despair, to raise those babies is epitome of God's grace! Loved this read! (You have not taken me there since Landon and Lexi)! 😂 Great job! 👍👍👍
4 Stars! Each book I read by Kay Shanee the more I see the growth. This book was beautiful and HEAVY on the emotional side. Losing your spouse and sibling in one evening is beyond traumatizing and picking up the pieces afterward is a process. A lot of loops and turns but I’m glad we got to the bottom of Siyanna’s hesitancy with everything. It was more than just being with Drue. When we finally got to that point everything clicked. Also the sex scenes were hot! I feel like they couldn’t keep their hands off each other at a certain point!🔥 overall this book was a good read and I would definitely recommend! Please read trigger warnings at the beginning of the book!
Well ladies and gentlemen, I present to some and introduce to others Mrs. Kay Shanee. Mrs. Shanee may not give us 🔥 every month, but when she delivers, it's right on time. She is taking the year (2021) out with a bang. I do not know where to start, a bunch transpired within the pages of this novel.
I will start here, I have to admit, when I first read the synopsis I wasn't feeling the whole switching partners scenario. The reality is that you really can't help who you fall in love with. Once the feelings started to develop Drue was all in, it took Siyanna awhile to get on board. She had a right to feel like she did because it was her twin sister's ex. Drue and Siyanna were practically thrown the same tragic simultaneously. The truth is, it was kind of hard for them to not fall for each other. They became parents of two newborns instantly. Siyanna stepped up for her nephew, she made sure he was breastfed like Dash. She was the mother of both of the boys. She took the role of being a mother seriously, she was super attached. Drue became the provider, protector and father of the boys. He stepped into his role like a proud father would.
This book took so many curbs and sharp turns along the way. It was well written, the fact it was more than one villain was straight genius. I thought it was ironic that everyone had their own opinion about Drue and Siyanna relationship, but wanted one or the other for themselves. The jealousy and envy reared its head a few times. It goes to show you just how much trust you can put into certain people.
This is a soul stirring, heart wrenching read. You will thoroughly enjoy it, hold on to your edges because they may be snatched back. A lot occurs in this book, but it's well worth every word written. Mrs. Shanee did her thing as usual, she executed the plot, character development, and climax quite well. It is a part or two that will cause a few tears to just fall, but it doesn't take away from the story it helps you connect the dots. I had a gut feeling that Siyanna's life in foster care wasn't a walk in the park. I knew it was going to tear at my heart strings. I most certainly recommend this book. Download, purchase a copy, relax your mind and just indulge.
Whew! This storyline engaged the readers from the onset. Who would have thought tragedy would come in pairs with devastating results. Yet Siyanna and Drur had to step into the role of unusual coparenting immediately after losing their spouses/siblings. This was a very unique storyline and if it wasn't for traveling I would have already finished the book. It is one of those books that will make you sit until you go from cover to cover. Then when you thought all systems were go, the author suckered punch us with more emotions which made the ending so welcoming and appreciated. I don't want to give out any spoilers but I will say that the title of the book is perfect and the author delivered. The pen game is fierce and relentless. Looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.
This book was so good. I fell in love with Drue from the very beginning. Si-Si had a lot going on and I felt sorry for her. I understood her hesitancy by placing myself in her shoes. The patience Drue has with her was amazing. All the betrayal that unfolds had me shaking my head. You definitely have to be careful with who you allow into your space. I cried, felt sad, chuckled a couple of times, and was truly happy with the ending. Amazing read!
This couple definitely had Conflicting Hearts. This book was entitled perfectly. Idk what I would have done being in this situation. The odds of so much pain happening at one time is very difficult to deal with. Then your heart falling for someone that you feel it shouldnt creates even more pressure and heart ache. This was written well.
I don't even know where to begin. It was a lot to unpack but it all was necessary. I loved Drue and Siyanna together. Their chemistry was hot and no matter how hard they tried to fight it, they just couldn't. It was a taboo subject but it was so well written that it made it understandable and acceptable. In MY opinion. Soo, Torrence and Dani? 😏
3.5 stars I like the setup for this story and overall liked it in the end. However, I did struggle with the 3rd person POV, and it dragged on a little long imo. I’ll def read more from this author.
I loved loved this story! The passion and the pain and the love and the sorrow. It was just a beautiful story Drue was a protector and he loved and handled his business. When jealous hearted people came in and Si made me want to punch her a little lol but she got it together! This book was so sexy.
This storyline was everything but felt so realistic. This author took you down through there and boy I was very well pleased! The flow was great and I’m so glad they got their happy ending
I had a difficult time with this storyline. I knew in the back of my mind this relationship between in laws would be the conflict. I pushed through this one, but it was not easy. The overall story was well written.
This book took you through every emotion you could think of. Sadness, love, horny, hurt, angry, and so much more. I couldn’t imagine going through any of that. However, love always wins
Twins Siyanna and Summer did everything together including falling in love with twin brothers Drae and Drue. Siyanna and Summer were even having their first child a month apart from each other, but tragedy struck when Siyanna’s sister and husband both die leaving Siyanna and Drue to not only mourn the loss of their sibling and spouse but also having to raise newborn boys Dash and Dylan. Siyanna and Drue focus is on raising Dash and Dylan together so they never imagined they would develop feelings for each other let alone act on those feelings.
When I read the synopsis of this book I was intrigued and wanted to see how Kay Shanee would execute this forbidden love story, and I must say she was very successful at delivering a truly complicated love story that I would have most likely been against but instead I was in support of their transition from in laws to lovers. I loved how you could feel their inner struggle with their feels from the pages while also being able to feel the love they have for one another. Drue was able to face his conflicted heart a lot faster than Siyanna was. Siyanna struggled with her conflicted heart throughout the entire book and I honestly understood her struggle she didn't want to betray her sister or her husband even though they were gone and I truly appreciated that about Si-Si. Siyanna’s struggles with her past were heartbreaking I was not at all expected the little suspense Kay Shanee snuck in toward the end. I was glad Siyanna finally got help and closure for her trauma.
This was a really good read and I appreciate Kay Shanee for taking her time with this love story and allowing time for Siyanna and Drae to love each other through their conflicted hearts.
Siyanna and Summer, twin sisters married Drae and Drue, twin brothers. Summer pass away after giving birth to her son. The shock of the death of her sister sends Siyanna into early labor and she’s delivers her son the same day. At the same time Drae is out of town and is shot and killed.
Siyanna and Drue are left to grieve the lost of their spouse and sibling while raising their first born.
Whew! So I knew where this was going out the gate and I was eagerly rooting for them! But at the same time…sometimes throughout I had the thoughts of like “this is a little messed up!” But who am I to judge?!
When Drue allowed himself to accept his feelings for his sister in law…baby he was ALL in! Siyanna on the other hand needed more time due to the guilt she felt.
All in all I enjoyed their journey and the reality of Siyanna’s feelings.
No matter what you’re doing in life, someone will always find the negative in it. Do what makes you happy! Period 💁🏾♀️
The book was interesting but I found it quite long. Siyanna was hard to digest because of the repetitive in and out back and forth. It made the book drag and her not really likable. The fact that she would act clueless about why Drue was upset when she was really playing two sides of the fence just annoyed me. Entertaining other men while giving off that she wanted him, and then ‘befriending’ the same man that liked her inviting him to Drue’s home?? Just no. I found her to be stubborn and unwilling to let a good man lead until she needed something. Overall it was an okay read.
Honestly, I was not interested in reading this book because of the subject matter. However, I love Kay Shane’s books so I gave it a try. I must say that I was very pleased with my decision. I was wondering why the book was so long but it definitely was interesting enough and well paced. Kudos to Ms. Shanee for being able to pull off a book on this topic. Ultimately I love Drue, I can take or leave Siyanna though but those love scenes were fire fire 🔥 🔥🔥.
