A Queer Prequel to A Christmas Carol is for all those who have ever wondered just how it is that Ebenezer Scrooge went from the carefree young man seen at Fezziwig's party to the cold-hearted miser we see haunted by spirits. Marley wants only to keep his head down and be left alone during the Fezziwig's Christmas party, and to ignore the attraction he feels towards his fellow apprentice, young Ebenezer Scrooge. Following such thoughts had already led to him being turned out by his own father; he knows better than to act on them again. Yet he cannot deny that Ebenezer brings to him a warmth he hasn't felt in years.
Soon it is clear that the feelings are not one-sided, and Marley and Ebenezer must figure out how to navigate their love together in a world that would sooner see them hanged than walking hand-in-hand.
I love A Christmas Carol and I adored how this fit in with the original story. I do wish it were a little longer and had more detail, but it’s definitely something I’m going to pick up the next time I read the original.
A bittersweet tale of Scrooge and Marley being more than business partners. (No smut though.) I wish it were longer but this novella is a great quick read for fans of A Christmas Carol!
