When Craig's high school buddy suggests a road trip, Craig knows its a bad idea. Bryan is out for a good time, no matter the cost, and he has his sights set on Craig's dad's van for the journey. As Bryan assembles a group of friends for the van, Craig does his best to predict what could go wrong - a speeding ticket, cigarette smell in the car, running out of snacks, getting into arguments. It all feels such an enormous responsibility to him, and his friends don't seem to share the same outlook he does - except the beautiful Hailey, who joins them on the trip. But Craig cannot anticipate what's about to happen to them all, or indeed the world, as a worldwide emergency changes everything. He will stop at nothing to get home, even when his friends become unpredictable - or become enemies. He also doesn't foresee or understand the biggest responsibility of all - a strange gift he discovers that leaves him questioning his sanity and the course of the future...and the past.

Eerie teenage road trip and no that is not all

I am still shocked after reading the book.

The premise started brilliantly well and kept pulling me in. Seven teenagers in a nine-seater car, with one of the teens - Craig as the storyteller.

Craig lets his friend - the rich Bryan, talk him into using his father's latest van for a visit to a cabin far away.

So when Craig's parents are not in the place, Bryan gets his friends and Craig gets one of his friends - Hailey, and the seven start to the cabin in the van.

The atmosphere in the story is forever eerie, before and during the beginning of the car journey. Steve, a nerd , is the only one among them, who has a license and so he is also elected to come along the trip. It does not help that one of the teenangers has beer and the other has some weed.

Ignoring all the ill omens and the frequent police cars on the road, they drive on, only to see an accident on the highway.

They pass that and which is when the EMP burst occurs in the sky.

Their communication was already faltering and after the EMP burst, their cell phones were rendered useless and that also started Craig's headaches.

Things go from bad to worse and now 'six' teenagers have to get back home, without even reaching the cabin.

Why is all this happening? Was it really the apocalypse? Can they make it back? Should they make it back? What is waiting for them once they get back?

The characters right from Craig the narrator, Hailey, Bryan, Pat, Heather, Jake were brilliantly well written. Chloe comes into the story and disappears too abruptly to make an impact. On the other hand, Cole Jackson comes in just a scene and he makes it obvious that he had survived till then, because he is someone like Craig. The budding romance between Hailey and Craig was sweet and pushed the story on, even at a time like this. Heather proved to be a surprisingly interesting character as her dialogue with Craig reveals more about her and Hailey to the readers. The part where Craig realizes that he really does not know much about any of the people who came along with him to the road trip was a highlight and was very well brought out.

Pat and Jake were awesome written characters. The way they 'changed' was the way the story turned and they pretty much kept the whole story unpredictable.

The sudden appearance of the dead bodies on their way back, added to the horror element in the story.

The story starts about normal teens - teenagers who manipulate each other; drugs, money all come in the story, but the story is not about any of that. They were just a bunch of rebellious teenagers who wanted to have some fun without their parents being aware of it. But the return journey back home turned out to be literally the end of the world and none of the teeangers could have even started to guess the amount of things which could go wrong.

As a reader, the ride was thrilling, because what was going to happen was always unexpected. Just when Blaine brings them to the bunker and things start to look up, the raspy voice comes in, making things perfectly creepy again.

The sketching of the normal people at the end of the world scenario seemed accurate and it was scary. Guns, weapons, 'aliens' and death become 'normal' in the new world, during the return trip. Bits and pieces of information come along at the right times which adds to a bigger puzzle, egging the readers on.

The ending was a little rushed, but I thoroughly enjoyed the creepy and scary journey of the teenagers during the end of the world.

A thrilling ya story

I thoroughly enjoyed this one! The story revolves around Craig and his buddy Bryant as they decide to take the van that Craig's father got off a debtor and take it to a family cabin while his parents are gone. They invite a few other friends to go along for a fun weekend so what could possibly go wrong? An EMP strikes as they're on the road causing a lot of problems. Was it a foreign power, like Russia, that attacked or was it something more sinister? I don't want to reveal too because Craig and the rest of the survivors do experience some strange issues physically in the aftermath that will keep you intrigued and guessing as to what will happen next. I highly recommend this one!

This story has an unusual plot that lovers of this genre will enjoy. The leading character is Craig, and he borrows his dad’s van without permission to take his friends on a road trip through Southern Illinois. There is the usual bickering between teenagers, but then strange incidents begin to happen, and through many twists and turns, the story becomes a fight for survival as the youngsters try to make it home. An enjoyable tale.

An interesting story about a group of young teens who are on their way to a party at a family members log cabin. Basically, some booze, some drugs, and some sex.
However, on the way, they crash the van they are in and things go downhill from there as they slowly discover the reason satellites and planes are falling out of the sky. From then on, it becomes a struggle for survival.
What lets the book down is the long, drawn-out beginning where Craig and Bryan are deciding who they will take on the trip. This could have been covered in a few paragraphs to allow the action to kick in more quickly, and I feel the reader would be more engaged with the story and the characters.
The dialogue is also an issue. It is forced, formal and so unnatural. Fifteen year-olds do not speak this way. Most adults don't either.
I think with a careful edit, this could be a really good book and that's why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 3.

Fast-paced adventure page-turner

I was captivated by this adventure story once Craig and the other adolescents hit the road in his dad’s van. The fast-paced plot provides insight into the dark side of human nature. How well does Craig know his best friend, Bryan who organized the teens going to his family’s cabin?

An electromagnetic pulse (EMP) knocks out the van’s GPS, radio, cell phones, and all communication. The group doesn’t make it to the cabin. Craig persists in getting everyone back home safely despite resistance, overly aggressive confrontations, and a constantly changing world as he knows it.

Craig faces an alien global apocalypse and must find a way out. While working on that, he falls in love. I thoroughly enjoyed the author’s twisty turns, including the plot twist at the end. Highly recommend.

Well written and Intersting

This a great book. The story is nice and keeps you hooked. I was on a very busy schedule yet has the urge to read at least a few pages everyday...haha
For an indie author, the formatting is great and easy to read.

This Young Adult dystopian story features seven teenagers crammed into a nine-seater car, with Craig as the main protagonist. Bryan, who came from a wealthy family, convinced Craig to use his father's van for a road trip to a remote cabin. With Craig's parents out of town, Bryan gathers their friends, and Craig invites his friend Hailey. They set out in the van, and the atmosphere is eerie.
Steve, the only one among them with a driver's license, comes on the trip, but things get complicated with beer and weed. Despite encountering several police cars along the way, they persist until they encounter an accident on the highway. As they pass the scene, an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) in the sky knocks out their communication devices and causes Craig headaches.
How much does he know about the people he had brought on the road trip?
The situation worsens, and the teenagers try to get back home without ever reaching the cabin. Why is this happening? Is the world ending? Should they even try to make it back? What awaits them once they return?
Craig, Hailey, Bryan, Pat, Heather, and Jake are all well-rounded, relatable characters keeping the story unpredictable. The budding romance between Hailey and Craig added sweetness and kept the plot moving forward. Heather is also an unexpectedly fascinating character, as her dialogue with Craig reveals more about her and Hailey.
The sudden appearance of dead bodies on their return journey adds to the horror that none could have predicted they would face.
The end-of-the-world scenario felt accurate and terrifying. Guns, weapons, aliens, death, and the gradual reveal of information kept me turning pages to the creepy ending.

The tension builds right from the start

The story starts of with two high schoolers, Craig and Bryan planning a road trip with some friends and taking Craig’s dad’s old camper for a joyride. As the road trip approaches there are a a couple of random news alerts of a couple of satellites falling to Earth but nobody thinks of anything of it. Then as the road trip commenced weird things begin to happen and then after a road accident it all goes down hill from there for the high school kids. A suspected EMP pulse means they can’t use their mobile phones and radios are useless so they can’t contact anyone. Slowly the friends die off or go crazy and Craig has to find a way home. But when he starts hearing voices and there are reports that the falling satellites are a prelude to an alien attack it might not be that simple. The tension builds right from the start and does not let up. You can feel the fear and paranoia that the characters feel. It felt like this was a love letter to all the other alien invasion movies that slowly build to a climax like Signs and any old 70s movies that was more about atmosphere than shock value. This was a great book I thoroughly enjoyed it.

A group of teenagers embark on a road trip through Southern Illinois during the Summer vacation. Craig is the leading character and they borrow his Dad's van without asking while his parents are away. Steven is a nerd who has often been the victim of bullying from Pat and Jake and also Bryan, who pressured Craig into taking the van and whose parents own the cabin they're visiting for a night of partying. The rest of the passengers are girls from their school, Chloe, Heather and Hailey, the last one being Craig's crush.

On the journey, bizarre incidents begin to happen. It all starts with the usual bickering between teenagers but then the group notice more road accidents and then satellites falling from the sky until a catastrophe of apocalyptic proportions begins to unfold. Then the story becomes a fight for survival as the group try to make it home.

There are many surprises and exciting twists in this tale and Biga shows his imaginative side with the story and scene descriptions. Some of the scenes are very traumatic and Biga illustrates this well. I was a little irritated by a few too many grammar errors but I enjoyed this book all the same and would recommend it.

Fate's Collisions by RW Biga was full of twist and turns that kept you coming back for more.

The author takes us on a journey of eight teens (15-16 years old). Its summer and Bryan has convinced his friend Craig to sneak out his father's van and take a day trip up to a cabin with a few other kids to party. Craig's parents will be out of town so the idea seems good and he would also be able to hang around a girl from school that he liked.

Days leading up to the trip reports of satellites falling from the sky were being reported all over, but the teens weren't going to let that ruin their fun. The day of the trip, bad attitudes, the lack of cars and people on the road, plus other omens gave Craig and a few of the other teens a bad feeling, but against their better judgment they continued on with their plans.

From there the author takes us through 24-hours of scary and unfortunate events that no one seem coming.

Plenty of Twists

Super mixed feelings about this book. It takes a very long time to get rolling, so it's hard to get hooked at first. But give it a chance. For the first part of the book the MC spends most of his time texting his crush, which is an interesting way to get inside your character's heads but it can get a bit redundant. Once the action starts, you never know what's going to happen to the plethora of characters you seem to keep bumping into and loosing track of. I was excited to read through the middle right to the end and then I was a bit disappointed by the resolution. It's a bit played out and unoriginal, which dampens the rest of the incredibly unique book. I'd definitely still recommend. The editing is well done and it definitely throws you through some loops.

Hmmmm....strange book. I would assume that it was intended to be a tween (young adult might be pushing it) book except for the foul language that didn't really add much to the story. Overall the writing was too stiff and formal. The writing did not reflect the language of typical 15yr olds and there was very little descriptive language being used to help the reader feel connected.
I read the E-book version and the editing was terrible, might just be due to the format.
At any rate, the overall idea of the book is great. I did want to keep reading so that I could find out what was causing all of the issues and I finally found out.... 90% of the way thru.
I can appreciate the idea of the story and think the author will probably refine his/her skills the next time around.

This did take me some time to read but it was so worth it, and I loved this book! The cover Craig was such an interesting character that it kept me interesting from the beginning until the end. A sci-fi-like road trip, and many events happening along the way! Teenagers go through so much through the book from the beginning until the end! The writing was well done, and it was easy to follow from the beginning until the end of the book. Bryan is also a good character who along with Craig did not know what was going to happen. All wanted was to take a trip with some friends. All the twists and turns happening along the way. Readers wanting a book that keeps you on the edge of your seat this is a book I recommend!

Well done!

This story was unique and different than so much that is out on the market. The unique story line was a breath of fresh air. It was easy to read and not weighed down by a bunch of descriptive paragraphs. The front part had a lot of mundane material that I think was ultimately unnecessary and didn't really add much value. I think the first several chapters could be cut and it would not affect the story line. In fact, it may actually help the story move along faster because the good stuff really comes once the kids are on their trip. There were a quite a few typos and the dialog didn't always feel natural, which unfortunately took a little away from being in the moment. But overall the story was a good concept and it was an enjoyable read!

A well-written YA novel of a dystopian future, about a road trip from hell. The story starts off slow as you are introduced to each of the characters and led along the start of the trip. Slowly the tensions ramp up, and various clues, seeded at the start, become apparent. I found it a gripping read, as the MC struggles for survival and the people he meets along the way. I was disappointed only with the ending, I wasn’t sure how it would end, and how it does is a surprise that may or may not please everyone. What did please me was being able to place myself into the novel and ask how would I deal with such and such a situation. I would definitely recommend this as a read.

Another "What would you do" apocalyptic novel from RW Biga. In Fate's Collision, Craig's dad gets a passenger van, and his frenemy Bryan decides he should invite their friends for a road trip. Without asking permission, and though neither boy has a license, they make it happen, and off they go. What could possibly go wrong?

This is a fun ride, filled with unexpected twists and turns. The teens start fighting, then an auto accident on the road causes all their electronics to break, then Craig starts getting headaches... Is this the end of the world?

I knocked a star because it needs a good edit, but I liked the tension in the story and the impending feeling of doom.

Slow Burn, Good Read, Big Twist

I didn’t read the blurb for this book and just jumped right in not knowing anything. At first, I got resident evil vibes I felt like they were walking into raccoon city, and then I got war of the world vibes. The author does a good job of painting the nature of humanity in a situation where everything we know collapses. I kept wondering what’s gonna happen what’s this all about as the book progressed, then it all came together in a major twist. I hope the Author is making listen to a series because the way the book ends leaves many questions needing answers. And the only way to answer these questions is the write another one. Great book!

Collision? More of a wreck in my opinion. A group of loosely associated teens take a van on an unauthorized little getaway. Only one is licensed to drive and he’s the nerd of the group. We have several jocks, a jerk, some cute girls and our average guy. Things start the journey to the worst sneaky trip they could imagine, by running the van into a tree avoiding some guy jumping in front of them. We move on to satellites falling to the earth , an EMP , alien attacks, hardly any people around and a really blasé attitude to people dying rather abruptly.
The dialogue is sadly lacking and ending is even more preposterous than you can imagine.

I really wanted to love this book, the plot was original but there were so many issues that let it down. I believe it was written with the intention of a YA audience, but the dialogue didn’t feel very ‘teen’ and the mention of them using drugs, alcohol and carrying guns made it feel aimed at an older audience. There were a lot of editing issues and strange use of words, notably ‘would’ve’ rather than ‘would have’ that completely took me out of the narrative. Far more could have been done with the ending to make it more satisfying. The main characters were relatable and overall the story was interesting.

A Compelling Story

I enjoyed reading this novel, centering on complex teens, leading to a web of deceit, secrets and lies, twists and turns, infatuation, illegal activities, and betrayal. Bryan Kane, who I disliked, is the ringleader when he uses unscrupulous tactics to influence a susceptible Craig Weathers into using his father’s new van to take a group of teens on a joyride. As the narrative progresses, it leads to a cat-and-mouse diversion, where eerie happenings, puppy love, benevolence, loyalty, and friendship will be tested, building up to an ending that you will never see forthcoming.

An adventure takes a dark turn!

RW Biga has written an awesome dark adventure. The main character, Craig, started out as an average teen boy. He just wanted to sneak off with the family van for a day of fun with his friends and get to know the pretty Hailey he's been crushing on.
Then satellites start falling out of the sky! Meteors hit the ground, and cell phones go wonky. What's going on? Chaos erupts for Craig's small band of friends. The twists and turns don't stop. Why is all of this happening? Will they make it back home from their joy ride? I can't tell you. You must buy this amazing book and go on the adventure for yourself! I highly recommend.

Little voice

Looking for an interesting coming-of-age Dystopian, you should definitely check out Fate’s Collision. As Craig and Brian plan a trip to a cabin with several of their friends, neither one could know of events that would transpire during this little road or did one of them. As the story progresses, the author provides you with tense moments as well as sweet ones. These young characters’ journey blends together to offer an exciting tale with one heck of a twist at the end.

An Entertaining read.

Decent coming of age mixed with a global disaster story. I enjoyed the twists and turns of this tale that covers a roadtrip during which the protagonists experience extraordinary circumstances, resulting in a battle to get somewhere safe.  Some good, descriptive prose in this, and whilst it starts slow, it picks up momentum and has a very clever twist at the end. Fans of survival horror (although this is not really horror) will enjoy this book.  Good job, the author!

Nice read

Craig and Bryan go on a road trip with friends but it becomes more than they expected. There is so much suspense. The EMP reminds me of the current day situation. This book is like a foreshadow of what can happen in real life. The way the characters deal with the situation makes one think how we would handle similarly if the world is experiencing attacks or catastrophies. It also is like the movies where the unexpected happens and there are many dangers. Only one part of the population survive through it.

Wanted to Know What Happened Next

Once I got into this book, I couldn't wait to find out what happened next. There does need to be a little proof reading on this work, but it wasn't bad enough to get me to stop reading. I really liked the main character and hoped everything would turn out for him. Unfortunately, he was around some nasty people, which added some good tension to the story. It had a satisfying ending. I recommend that people who are fascinated with what might happen in the near future.

Although parts of the story felt a little repetitive, and I had some trouble getting into it at first, the overall story was action-packed and kept me interested in reading more after I got past the first few chapters. The interaction between the teenagers was incredibly convincing, and the author did a great job capturing the personalities of the various characters. It's a terrific story with lots of action and vivid descriptions, but I would have liked it more if the story was more showing than telling. It's one of those stories, in my opinion, that will stick with you for a very long time.

A good read.

I love YA books. They are usually clean and full of fun. This book is no exception.

A group of teenagers embarks on a road trip, setting the stage for potential mischief. However, it quickly becomes apparent that their journey is more than just typical teenage antics... Well, I shouldn’t spoil the pleasure of the suspense for other readers.

Just a small observation: Maybe other readers don’t mind, but it’ll be an even better read for me if the author could reduce the usage of the word "but" and dialogue tags (e.g., “said).

All in all, it’s a good read.

A griping pre-apocalyptic YA novel.

Fate’s Collision is a gripping pre-apocalyptic YA novel that plunges readers into a world on the brink of collapse. Centering on a group of teenagers navigating the chaos, the story blends emotional depth with high-stakes action. While the book would benefit from a strong round of editing, its complexity and momentum keep the pages turning. Despite its rough edges, I wholeheartedly recommend it for fans of intense, character-driven dystopian fiction.
