This was a Rockstar, second chance, reverse harem novel.
I enjoyed reading the series. Little snippets from our guy's POV was insightful.
Above all, I loved listening to all the songs mentioned herein.

P.S. I love “Bad Liar” by Imagine Dragons! ❤

DNF. couldn’t give a single fuck. literally not even 0.000000000001. how many times have i seen this plot? spoilers ahead that i also give go fucks saying because this book ain’t even worth putting on your TBR. mannnn this plot line is horrible. the flashbacks/time jumps are boring as fuck. and basic. like at least add some flavour to the plot everyone’s seen 1000038347493847 times. hated the heroine, hated all three of the love interests. literally will never pick this back up

this was the most heartbreaking but beautiful second chance romance.
the flashbacks and the memories from Ari, Jesse, Tanner and Jensen made me cry a mixture of sad and happy tears.
it really was an emotional rollercoaster.
the romance and chemistry between Ari and the boys was incredible. i love their friendship and then their relationship. they was all so protective and possessive of one another, they’d do absolutely anything for each other.
their love as a group is everything you could ever want.
through the good times and the bad times they were together, those 5 years apart tore them all to shreds but they found their way back.
what Ari experienced with her husband was soul crushing, all the disgusting and vile things he did broke my heart. he didn’t deserve her or her love. what happened to him is exactly what he deserved.
Ari and the boys were meant to be. their love was written in the stars.
the songs just made this story even better, it was their way of showing how they truly felt.
this story was phenomenal, by far one of my favourite rockstar romances.
the ending was beautiful, made me cry happy tears 🥹

This is a rockstar, second chance reverse harem romance.

This is so underrated. The series flashes back between high school and present day (five years later). She’s the new girl at school and catches the eye of not one, but three guys of the school. When they finally ‘make it’ with their band, she promises to join them when she graduates. A promise she doesn’t keep. Five years later they’re back for a concert. Will things ever be the same?

Ari has had a rough life and the guys see that. Ari has spent her life living for other people - despite her parents, supporting her guys, being a dutiful housewife. She’s lost her self along the way. I love that this was not only a love story, but a finding yourself story.

“And I realize that the broken girl from the trailer park, the one who had no hope, no dreams, no future...she finally found her happily-ever-after, after all.”

I was not expecting the amount of emotions this series brought out. It was heart breaking and beautiful. I absolutely loved it.

“When the sun goes down
And the band won't play
I'll always remember us this way”

The series could stand to be re-edited as there are a few typos and mistakes throughout the series but if you can get past that, it’s amazing!

I’m a whore for a story about a broken abused woman running away looking for second chance in life… make it a Revere harem and I am freaking invested.. so I was really intrigued with the plot of this story. With that being said…. I’ve DNF’d books for less annoying reasons, yet I just binged this series, and there were many annoying things with this series.

This whole series needed to be edited again. With self publishing this problem seems to be a common thing. So I usually just ignore these kinds of things. Not a huge buzz kill, AS LONG as the sentences make sense. If I have to reread a paragraph repeatedly and still don’t understand what’s being said it’s a problem.

The book was written where it is constantly bouncing between past and present. there were a lot of page filler chapters and also a lot of pointless POV’s. I found myself skipping over a lot.

The sex was… vanilla and boring. Not all sex scenes have to be pornhub worthy but it was just… repetitive and uninteresting for a why choose.

The whole plot with the husband started out as interesting twist but by book three it was pointless. After the first major incident it was no longer important. The author never followed up with any more information like why was he so obsessed with her? Why was he blackmailing her with her history? Then he was just thrown back into the story at the very end.

Also… how is it that a poor nearly homeless young woman turned house wife knows how to play multiple instruments and sing perfectly? There was one past mention of her being able to sing and that was it. Yet five years later, she’s back with the men and apparently a master at music production and writes lyrics.. It was odd. She’s never performed for anyone ever and is pressured to sing in front of a huge crowd and apparently knows how to play the guitar. Yet it was never mentioned before.
the author definitely decided to just tossed this in for book three.

Now!!! I did love that their relationships were troubled and unstable the whole time. While it was inatalove and lust, the relationships weren’t easy. There was so much trauma between them all. I enjoyed seeing them struggle to communicate and fighting their way to one another.

While there were many irksome things I did enjoy their love story.

TW: Cheating, Abuse
Spoilers ahead!!!!
Book one 4 stars
Book two dnf

I didn’t realize the series was going to be RH based on the TikTok’s I saw of it. So I feel misled on that part but I did enjoy for the most part the first book. i did dnf the second book because I didn’t want to spend more time trying to finish the series.
The first book wasn’t bad. There is cheating from both the main lady and her abusive husband. Him through out their marriage and her once she meets her men again. She sleeps with one in the first book and the the others in the second book. I’m not fond of cheating but in this case it didn’t bother me.
Ok not to critique but like towards the end of the first book she is in a physical fight with her husband and later has sex. Like I get that she was probably running on adrenaline but for her man not to notice either. Just didn’t make sense to me. Also i don’t know remember why she didn’t tell anyone that she was going back to the house. It just bugs me that she knows how her husband is and is willing to put herself at risk.🙄 it just irritates me when characters do that.
Also, in the first book it goes back and forth from past to present and it just felt like it dragged because I wasn’t invested in their past. I think it would have been better if it took place in the present with some of their past here and there.
Can’t say much about the second book since I don’t remember much.

I like this book. It was agony sometimes to read this and so sad! I got so frustrated about some of the leads sometimes but it still was a good book😤🥰

I didn’t like the flashbacks though. I would have liked it better without them and just have a story about the present time.

I binged this book in less than a day. This isn't a book that I would normally gravitate to I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I would. definitely check your trigger warnings when it comes to this book. There is a mention of rape, drugs, and domestic violence. Nothing extremely graphic but it is there if you are opposed to reading that. While it does touch on these issues I wouldn't necessarily call this a dark book,

We are mostly shown how the main characters deal with the drama in their lives. We mainly follow Ariana as she deals with both past and present trauma and her trying to find a life for herself outside of being in love with our three men characters, Tanner, Jesse, and Jensen. The book does occasionally switch POV so that we can see their views on key parts of the story.

What I liked about the book is while it is slightly spicy it didn't take away from the plot of the story and we get to see how each character develops and changes as the book unfolds.

This is a sweet story that is pleasant to read but suffers from needing some editing.

What I did like, and what kept me reading, was that the author gave each of the RH unique demons and growth, and they allow themselves to be vulnerable to each other. There is no macho posturing, they are just there for each other trying to help each other be okay. That is a major component of the story for each of them: dealing with their inner troubles and becoming healthy and strong. They were never mean to each other, there was no childish drama or cheating. Their devotion to each other had tender moments, playful role-play fun, hard truths, and good spice. Honestly that made the trilogy worth reading and I was never tempted to not finish.

Secondly, I really liked that Ariana intentionally works on her own independence and gives thought to what she wants out of life and for herself, so that she doesn't go through adulthood with an identity dependent upon the guys. I don't often see that intentional self-work in characters.

While this is a sweet story with likable characters, it needed editing. Almost everything was told rather than shown, with long narratives that could have been rewritten to teach us through a dialogue or action. The tense changed multiple times in a paragraph from past to present and back each sentence, and there are sex scenes in which he removes her underwear a couple of times :).

I don't know if the repeated "then" and "now" worked as well as if the trilogy had been a duet with a "then" first book and "now" second book. As it is created, we get through the entire first book without really learning why any of them are interested in each other beyond looks. From the first time the guys meet Ariana, they are telling her she just doesn't see how special she is - but they literally don't know her beyond having seen her across a campfire and in class. They have never had discussions with her. Literally on day two of knowing her, and not having even had a single discussion with her, Jensen tells her
I would love to tell you more about everything special about you...
How does he know what is special about her? All he's done so far is take off his shirt in front of her (he comes up after jogging) and sit next to her at the lunch table, during which time she is staying quiet eating while they talk. WHY do they love her? It isn't until most of the way through the "then" segments that it is believable, that they have an emotional connection that is legitimate. But the way the book is laid out we don't get that until at least most of the way through book 2.

It's really not until halfway through book three that we really finish learning who they all are and what their demons are, and I think the book would have been better had we learned all of those "thens" first and then let us deal with the current progression.

There were a few places that didn't feel believable - like she verges into stupid heroine mode a couple of times. She has a stalker and a full security detail, but when she gets bored in her hotel suite she decides to go for a run in Central Park - a city she is not familiar with and this despite her security detail mysteriously not being at her door like they are supposed to be. Hmm. Maybe in real life we would see that and think "eh I'm going to find out why they disappeared rather than go for a run WITHOUT TELLING ANY OF MY MEN and without my phone charged."

Also, Not Cool that she has unprotected sex with two of her three guys immediately upon reuniting with them and when they admit that the wild sexcapade stories about them had not been exaggerated. Where's the condom? One of them had been celibate the past eight months but the other had a regular frequent fling that clearly ended The Day Ariana came back into their lives. Only the third used a condom.

The main thing that troubled me is how the boys treated their high school girls as soon as they saw/met Ariana.

That's really crappy.

Ultimately, I really like the men, and Ariana, but I like them more after we get past the flaws of the "then" beginning and once we have a reason to know and like them. I am a bit sad the author didn't have better editors and beta readers, because it is a sweet story with endearing and loving characters, and could have been a really sharp story.

This is a second chance, rockstar romance that is full of angst, anger, gritty hard hitting truths, and a female character who discovers who she is with the support of her 3 rockstars. Please note this book deals with substance abuse, SA, spousal abuse, and child abuse, so be aware of these potential triggers before reading. I didn’t realize I had actually read book 1 of the series when it originally came out and then had forgotten to go check to see if the others were out yet, so I'm glad I rediscovered this series and was able to get their completed story.

I love why choose romance where each guy has a very different connection/relationship with the girl and I also don't mind if they have more of an individual relationship with her vs. more of a group that always shares during the spicy scenes. It would definitely be a great place to dip your toes into this genre to see if you can enjoy books where she has multiple boyfriends.

I did struggle a bit with Tanner's character as I never felt we really got to see his character grow due to his alcohol/drug issues and it was more of a sudden insta change vs. a gradual progression, but I'm glad he decided she was worth putting in the actual effort to make the changes in his own life so that he could be a better partner for her.

I typically am not a huge fan of the jump back and forth between past and present and this is one instance where it was definitely harder to follow along because the past chapters didn't always seem to be in chronological order. My brain just processes things in a very linear way so it is always harder for me to have past/present jumps throughout a book, but even harder when the timeline isn't clear as far as being linear for the past chapter order. The third book is the one where it was harder to really determine where in the timeline the past events occurred and that made it seem like the pacing was a lot slower compared to the first 2 books because my brain just struggled to process things because it wasn't always clear at what point in the timeline it was taking place. I didn’t remove stars for this as it is honestly a personal preference thing, but wanted to point it out in case there are others who struggle when reading a non-linear storyline.

🥁🖤 I love her. I love her with every ounce of my soul [...] I'll die before anything happens to her (Jensen)

🎶❤ "Oh, Tanner, you could never be ugly to me. No matter how long it takes, I'll prove that to you." -Ariana

🎤🖤“And now I’m starting to doubt that I’m really that worthless, Princess. Because good things like you wouldn’t happen to someone worthless. You’re my good thing, Princess. As long as I have you, that can’t possibly be true.” -Tanner

🎸🖤 “It’s okay, pretty girl. I’ve got you. I will always have you.” -Jesse

🎤🖤 In Ariana, I found more than love, more than hope and peace. I found my home. (Tanner)

🎤🖤“I will love you through this life and into the next. Let me show you” -Tanner

🎶❤ And I realize that the broken girl from the trailer park, the one who had no hope, no dreams, no future...she finally found her happily-ever-after, after all. (Ariana)

🎶❤ I thought I loved them when we met, I thought that I loved them when I found them once again, but this right here..I never comprehended I would love them like this, or that they would love me like this in return...I’ll always remember us this way. (Ariana)

*(I have too many highlights)*

What can I honestly say about The Sounds of Us series by C.R. Jane except for holy sh!t it was freaking amazing!!! I'm usually not of fan of the back & forth between past & present (because I have undiagnosed adhd 😂 & can't keep up! 😂) But I freaking loved this series so much that I finished it late last night/early this morning! Eventually I'll crash but it was so worth it! Ariana, Jesse, Jensen & Tanner are all "broken" in their own right but together the 4 of them are whole! Their road to happily ever after is def not without bumps & twists/turns! From the moment they their eyes meet in the woods they have a connection that only grows into the deepest of bonds that four people can hold! Jesse is her rock, Jensen is her protector & Tanner just wants to love her with all that he has!! This series is def is filled of triggers but if you can get past all that it's an amazing story of 4 broken souls mended together as one in this beautifully heartbreaking yet healing love story!

So much to say about these books. After reading all 3 books in 1, I can honestly say I love all of them. My god these characters have been through it and we got to watch them grow.

First and foremost, this book has MASSIVE TRIGGER WARNINGS: Domestic Violence/Physical Abuse, Sexual Assault, Alcohol/Drug Abuse, Addiction, Family Trauma/Abuse, etc.

Okay, now let us begin. I have a love/hate relationship with these books/this collection. The 1st book was probably a 1-2 star rating at best if I’m being honest. It felt like the DV stuff dragged on and was unnecessary at certain point. It felt almost like that was the plot of the book which is not great in my opinion. I frankly almost DNF’d it but I’m glad I didn’t.

Books 2&3 didn’t come to play. They were action packed, heart wrenching and beautiful. The trigger warnings still apply though. These books are not for the faint of heart.

I struggled to like Ariana in the first book. I have a hard time reading about characters who can’t get out of their own way. Not talking about the abuse she experienced, that part is gut wrenching and I completely understand how she felt and was trapped. But we were 200 pages in and nothing had changed. So that’s the reason book 1 was so poorly rated in my opinion.

Book 1 was, I believe, supposed to be a love story to Jesse and the reason I rated it so low is because we barely spent anytime with Jesse.
Book 2 I feel was a love story to and about Jensen.
Book 3, a love story to and about Tanner.

Overall, I feel like we spent so much time on Ariana and Tanner, there was so much left to work through and experience with Jensen and Jesse at the end of the series that we didn’t get to see/read. I was hoping for more. So I really struggle to decide what rating this series is between 3.5-4 stars.

She knew them before. Before the stadium tours, the millions of adoring fans, the #1 hits. She was their girl, promises were exchanged. She was the one who broke her word. She was the one who broke all four hearts. She's never forgotten them and even though it's been years, she still loves them. When their paths cross again, the world starts to right itself again. World-famous rockstars, Jensen, Tanner, and Jesse have never gotten over the girl they left behind and lost. Now that she's back in their lives, they aren't going to let her out of their sight again.

CR Jane has taken her trilogy, The Sound of Us, and packaged it in one beautiful book. Look at this cover! This one book contains Remember Us This Way, Remember You This Way, and Remember Me This Way.

It's not often a series surprises me but this one did. I wasn't expecting the circumstances. I wasn't expecting all of the pain. This is a story of mistakes and regrets, broken promises, and heartache. It's emotional; a brief moment of happiness and elation followed by fear, shame, remorse, anger, hurt. There is a sense of hopelessness hanging over Ari. The tension is palpable. The sense of foreboding from the beginning that grows with every page creates absolute dread. Each book gets better. The characters are more in-depth, it's more suspenseful, the sexual tension and steamy scenes are even hotter, the danger more deadly, the story is simply more addictive. Ari and her guys put on a beautiful, emotional show!

Rock and roll roller coaster

I have to confess, this story is not my favorite trope ( I.e. rockstar romance) but CR Jane has showed me why this is such a great “ universe” to set worlds in. If you have ever listened to music, and the words are your words, the music itself connects with you, then this is the book for you. We meet Ari, young, living in a hell of her womb owners making, who meets her true love(s) when she moves into town. There are some hard things in her story, and you might need to look at trigger warnings if that is necessary for your health. I can’t read stories where children or animals die. Just hands down can’t read them. So be aware that every hard topic is treated as it’s so much dignity and grace for the amazing overcoming of them. I really love these omnibus editions of completed series, as I hate reading something I think is going to be a duet to find out, there’s a night, are cliff hanger. The whole story is here, in its glory. Multiple amazing redemption arcs, and in the end, a HEA. However, it’s a wild ride, and you may want to read this over the weekend as I simply can’t put this down. Once you read it, you might want to check out the hockey series (The Pucking…) as these folks make a cameo in the Pucking wrong date. I’m so in awe of a good sports story writer who also does other genres in romance. Check it out!

Tropes
Rockstar romance
Reverse Harem MFMM
Angst
Second chance

Trigger warning
Childhood abuse
Sexual assault
Domestic violence

Well this was an emotional roller coaster wasn't it! Ariana is on the run from a traumatising past and abusive relationship when she reunites with the loves of her life she met in school who are now on a world tour as the band Sound of Us.

This is a not very spicy reverse harem love story between Ariana, Jesse, Jensen and Tanner and if it doesn't move you, I don't know what to say. Is it absolutely flawless? No. There are some idiosyncrasies and extreme like circumstances (the guns at shows, the offers Ari gets) that you have to move past, but the writing of this story still just sucked me in from the first page and didnt let me go.

To be clear, I am an absolute sucker for rockstar romances. Theres something about the combination of love and music that lends itself to this deep and poetic prose and this one did not let me down. I love C R Jane's writing and this is definitely one of my favourites.

There is some intensity to this one, almost every single main character has some really screwed up family who are abusive and/or neglectful. Parts of this book are hard to read. But it connects these characters deeply, and allows us to see their growth throughout the story.

Absolutely incredible book.

FMC: Ari
MMC: Jesse, Jensen, Tanner

Genres/Tropes: Rockstar, Second Chance, Reverse Harem

Trigger Warnings: Domestic Violence, Past Sexual Assault, Drug Addiction

Plot: Ari is stuck in an abusive, loveless marriage, when she learns that a band, who happens to be her three first loves, is coming back to town for their tour. When she goes to see them, all of her feelings come rushing back, but things get between her husband and their resentment of her for not coming with them when they left, things get very complicated.

Thoughts: First of all, I did not expect all of the A Star is Born parallels, but those made this book all the more enjoyable for me. That just so happens to be my favorite movie, so mix that with a good reverse harem book and you've pretty much sold me on the book. I loved the characters, who are all struggling to work out this relationship, while dealing with past traumas and drug addiction. CR Jane always does a really great job of handling more serious topics, and I appreciated the way she did so in this book as well. If you like A Star is Born, but you don't necessarily want to cry, and you enjoy a good RH, I would definitely recommend this book for you.

I'm going to be honest this was not it for me.

I love RH more than anything but it was disappointing to me and I hate to say the concept I love you know, I love heart is gut-wrenching and this is all in the feels but toward the second/third book, it fell apart for me.

The spice is tamed like it wasn't enough to get me interested it was very copied and pasted with each guy as they besotted with her even after 5 years part. Also, regarding birth control, Tanner was only one sliding condom on as well and not the others with no explanation.

Plotholes and realism like if you were shot in the chest twice, I would think you have difficulty breathing, let alone singing and recording a song. Also, there was no indication early on that she wanted to pursue this or had a passion for it. Also, she is like a hit instantly. No struggle to be a hit cause she is amazing and cant does no wrong.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the flashback of how the relationship bloomed but just didn't really make any sense to me at all.
Jensen would be my fave if we were to call but yea.

Phenomenal

This book set triggered me a couple of times. Being a recovering addict/alcoholic myself, I know the pain that gets caused to loved ones. Being a child of an alcoholic, I also know how it feels Being on the receiving end. That being said, I loved how it was handled, and the honesty that was put into it. I love how they never gave up, and how Ari survived so much, even while dealing with shame due to her demons. This set really hit me, and reminded me why I love CR so much. She's an amazing author, and just gets you so involved in the lives of her characters. I could not put this down! I cried, laughed, hurt, and battled some of my own demons while reading this. This will forever be one of my favorite series of all time. I also love how Ari's dilemmas were finally brought to the surface, for it was the only way she could truly heal. CR touched on how so many look down on therapy, too, which I appreciate her doing. So many need help, but feel they can do it on their own, while just getting worse and worse.

Definitely triggering, though, so be careful when you read it, and it is for sure worth the read.

I read all three books like my life depended on it—and I still wish I could go back and experience them for the first time.

The Sound of Us series had me in a full-blown emotional spiral. The romance? Intense. The secrets? Maddening. The plot? So addicting I devoured the entire thing way too fast. I should have savored it… but I physically couldn’t stop. That’s how good it is.

Every book gave me tension, drama, slow-burning revelations, and the kind of emotional rollercoaster I live for. I was obsessed with the characters, completely immersed in their world—and also ready to throw my Kindle because HOW HARD IS IT TO JUST TELL THE TRUTH?! 😭

Still, that frustration is part of the magic. If a book can make me yell at fictional people while still keeping me fully invested? That’s a win.

C.R. Jane absolutely ate with this series. I’ll be thinking about it for a long time.

Spoilers - Book deals with PTSD poorly, but there is a decent story here

There is a good story in here, but it gets lost along the way a few times. Could really use an editor to make it flow better. I also highly recommend for any author who is writing a book about PTSD, either speak with a therapist or someone who has PTSD and worked through it. The therapists initial advice to the main character is way off given that she is in crisis at the first meeting. This sort of representation can be damaging for those who live with PTSD. Author has a lot of potential especially if they can work with the right editor.

If you like the journey of imperfect people working their tails off to be better than their circumstances and trauma then this trilogy is for you.

I love Ari, Jesse, Jensen and Tanner individually for their own brokenness and journey as a found family together. The presence of music and the role it plays throughout the series also gave me all the feels!!!

I fell in love with C.R. Jane’s characters in a different series and wanted to read her other work. This was so very different but absolutely DID NOT disappoint.

Reverse harem romances are not my favorite genre. In fact I normally go out of my way to avoid them but having read other works by this author I thought I would give this a chance. I can really appreciate how the author made the men different and that they all had different relationships with the heroine but I just couldn’t understand the why. What made these men want to be in a relationship with the same woman. I guess that was my biggest complaint with this book but over all it was an enjoyable read.

Girllllll, this FMC had me so annoyed. She barely said ANYTHING to these men. They were spilling their secrets and souls to her and her inner dialogue was “I’m incapable of words”???? Is she okay in the head? How were these men so OBSESSED with her? Because she was giving us nothing.

This was so Wattpad coded. lol the angst was out of control and over the top. Anyway, I swear I’m a masochist because rockstar romances always make me physically ill with how much angst and hurt that’s in them, but I love them anyway.

I truly wish I DNF'd this book. I wasted time i will not get back. I just wanted to shake the main characters so many times. I love this authors other books but this one was really hard to get through. the storyline and how the characters acted was utterly ridiculous to me.

They all have trauma but instead of just learning to communicate they piss each other off most of the book. her reasoning for leaving them and getting married was flimsy at best.

Finally the sex scenes were ridiculously vanilla at best and very short. do not waste your time reading this book.

This book gave me Wattpad 'it's toxic but perfect' vibes which if you're into, not a problem. I personally didn't care for the amount of sex scenes but that's just personal preference because I kind of felt that there was more sex than story in some parts of this book. Also, if you're not into books with polyamorous relationships, you're in the wrong place.

All in all, this book is okay at best in my opinion. If you like it, I fully support but it just wasn't a favorite of mine.
