Five best friends. Five broken resolutions. Five golden rings. Enjoy Shay's holiday series for the first time in one collection!
Soldier Beast My resolution: Get over my lying, cheating ex-boyfriend. The best way was to focus on my job as a nurse. Falling in love with my patient was never part of the plan.
Naughty-Nice Nanny My resolution: No s*x for a year. But it’s hard to be nice when your boss is trying to get you on the naughty list!
Sweet On You My Resolution: Lose 40 pounds. But after sharing a kiss with a London chef, I’m eating out of his hands.
Two Weeks Notice My Resolution: Quit my job. But my boss says he can’t replace me in two weeks. In fact, he doesn’t think he can replace me...ever.
Losing It My Resolution: Lose my virginity! After almost thirty years, how hard could it be?
Holy heck what did I just read... glad my KU is a free trial
Possible spoilers below but read it & save your money. The 1 star is for the series as a whole. 3 for Ameerah & Talon, 1 for Savannah & Lincoln, 1 for KK & Graham, 1 for Sweet & Ezra & 1 for Paris & Lucas. No conflict in any of the 5 just easy no pressure perfect men & situations. Question:Is Savannah the most important character? Shes mentioned in all 5 books more than the other girls & shes like the bestie of each of the 4. Her bro Sly also always shows up but why?
Story 1 - Ameerah & Talon, like the idea of the wounded warrior story but why is A's resolution to get over her ex Sly? Nothing is set up in her story for her to seem incapable of doing it. She ignores his calls & isnt secretly missing or pining after him she doesnt take an interest in Talon at just to help her get over Sly. Theyre broken up & shes just fine, so wheres the problem? Seems like SV (the author) just needed something random. Sly doesnt factor into A's story plays ZERO part in helping or hurting A & Talons story.
Story 2 - Lincoln & Savannah could have been good, single dad w/ nanny is a fun trope where you wait & watch for how the kids & adults interact to make the relationship work. In this one I more so didnt like the random intro to S's nanny beginnings. Didnt need to read about her 1st few jobs years before she meets Lincoln & his "kids". would have preferred SV use her time to have more character & story development for the Male & Female leads Maybe the kids too But no they all love eachother immediately. Also S's resolution is celibacy but why? Theres no indication shes sleeping w/ men expecting HEAs & they are leaving her after she gives it up. Or that shes trying to test a man to see if hed love her for her mind or something not just to get into her pants. Nope She just sleeps around alot & bets she can stop for 1 year (and she loses). So arbitrary.
Story 3 - KK & Graham actually started off okay, but its called Sweet On You? But Graham calls the female lead Kiondre & at that point in the 3rd book or even in the other 2 previous, they dont say what KKs real name is And in bk 3 the female leads name isnt revealed until Graham shouts it randomly. there is a character intro'd in Bk 1 as Sweet so the title of this book threw me off cuz I thought it was Sweets story not KKs. I liked the idea of a mystery kiss at New Years & a mystery man but KKs resolution is to lose weight for herself but she just finds a man who loves her body & she just effs off on it. Im all for loving your body & being happy if someone else loves you but by her own admission she wants to lose the weight for HER to be happy w/ herself not so that others will compliment her. But 1 hot rich british guy likes her & all of a sudden - what resolution? Her ending is also a bit weird abrupt. They just move to London & his family loves her & ends w/ something like, "going to Grahams condo to make a baby" (with no context as to them having wanted kids or anything) Just a random last line. Side note: doubt a British boy named Graham had a nickname of Cracker - short for "Graham Cracker" seeing as how they dont have GCs over there in England & if they do have something similar they are called biscuits. I think it was just a cheap attempt for SV to insert using Cracker as a name for a white guy (forgetting she made him British for no reason as there is 0 fight on if KK would stay in USA or move to London)
Story 4 - Sweet (Tyesha) & Ezra. Her resolution is to finally quit after 5 years of working for this hot rich guy Ezra because she has other things she wants to do But SV gives no indications as to what those things are. In reality SV makes T want to quit just so theres a reason for the male character Ezra to reveal that he needs her around as his assistant and is in love with her. No believability. T doesnt even have a reason like having to leave for morals because she cant sleep w/ or have feelings for her boss. But shes gonna act clueless that he likes her even when shes tried quitting several times & he paid her house off bought her a new luxury car & bumped her pay by 20k a year & he gifted her high heels for 1 Christmas? Like wtf does she think he wants from her? By her own admission she is replaceable not great at her job so she isnt confident that he is keeping her for her skills. But they go off on work trips and fall in love & her mom gets cancer but money cures her & T gets scared & breaks up w/ Ezra but runs back to him after 1 week & he quits the business to support T doing something unclear. Also - SV forgot her characters names. T names her daughter Annaliese for her early intro'd sister named Tionne?... Not even close. I also think 4 should be 5 because at the end T wins the bet even though story 5 Paris comes after.
Story 5 - Paris & Lucas is just a random quick story to close up & weave the series. Hot virgin girl meets intruiguing hottie & she sleeps with him the day they meet. Wow shocker. SPOILER: hes a secret billionaire with a heart of gold.
I really enjoyed this book every story was very entertaining! I loved the characters and the resolutions they each made. They each had the intention of winning the bet but fate had other plans for each one of them! Love the chemistry between each couple there was no lacking of love! I highly recommend this book you will not be disappointed! I loved this series. Ms Violet did a awesome job with this story line.
WOW if you enjoy binge reading then you will absolutely want to read Shay Violet books, the characters are charming with awesome personalities and they are so hot and steamy. Each story is beautifully written that you will turning pages as quick as you can read and turn them.
This is my first review of a book... I loved that this book was very much, a fairy tale in every way. I could read about happy ever-after lives with strong black, educated women who got no backlash about who their significant others were and how much they supported each other. This was a very happy read.
All Ms Sadie’s adopted granddaughters were either engaged or married to money! It wasn’t always like that when they met making their New Year’s Resolution and backing it with a “pot” to make the incentive worth aiming for. They all met at Palmetto Women’s College, all five of them-Ameerah, Paris, K.K., Savanna, and Tyesha( Sweet T!)
This book was a humdinger. Five strong black college young women who met in college and became sisters. The bet was made and game on. If you want to read a really great book then this is it. Five books in one, each telling their stories.
No spoilers... loved the lasting friendships of the women and the confidence each woman had in herself and the sexy alphas they each met , the passion and romance in this book set is on point and worth the read! Love this author and will keep reading!
Each story was wonderful on it’s own, but the way they were woven together was awesome. I loved how each character had their own very distinctive personality, strength and sexiness. The men in their lives matched them in life, love and the bedroom. I can’t pick a favorite couple. They each appealed to me in different ways. I do have to say, I LOVED Ezra and Sweet’s relationship dynamic. ❤️🔥🔥
