This is one of those articles that when you see what it's about you might not want to read on for lack of interest. But read on you must!!
It's about becoming a Bladesmith (one who forges knives and other cutting instruments).
This is one of the most well written pieces I've ever read in the New Yorker. The characters are so compelling and the science and history of the craft is fascinating.

This isn't a book but a magazine article from the Nov. 24th issue of The New Yorker.

I don't think you can read this online without paying for it. If you can't find a hardcopy I'll be glad to send you a copy of mine.
