Another will written paranormal fantasy world 🌎 adventure thriller short story by Michael Anderle (Christmas Kringle book one). Chris Kringle has taken over from his father who has retired to the Caribbean with his mother. Then the new Christmas sleigh is stolen by who? The search beings with Chris going from the north pole to the Caribbean to Miami to New York City and the solution. Then Christmas Eve and delivering presents. I would recommend this novella to anyone looking for a different kind of Christmas novels 👍🔰. Enjoy the adventure of reading 👓 or listening 🎶 to Alexa read different types of books 📚. 2023 🎅
I am a fan of Michael Anderle and his great variety of novels. Happy reading in 2023 😀
What would happen if Kris Kringle was an intelligence operative or ex-military? If you read this, you will find out. I saw the cover and figured I had to try it.
This will never be confused with great literature. It is like an RPG video game. Can you get Santa to his sleigh in time to deliver all of his gifts?
The mystery aspects of this are kind of thin. You never really know who the main baddie is or how the sleigh is stolen in the first place. The idea that Rambo Claus could take out a whole army to get the goods back is implausible, at best.
But it is still fun.
P.S. As far as I know, this is the first book I have read by this author. He is pretty prolific and in spite of some of the above issues, I liked his pacing and tone.
If you consider Die Hard to be a Christmas Movie, this book is for you
I want to preface with the fact that I've read a great deal of Michael Anderle's work, and have always enjoyed it. This is no exception.
What happens when a merc gets into (what is presumably) the family business? He streamlines it and makes it run like a well oiled machine. What happens when someone throws a wrench into the plans with less than a week until the big C. Day? He takes a trip south, with interesting results. A smattering of magic and a few tugs on the heart strings tie it all up with a beautiful bow.
All in all, a very satisfying read. Cannot WAIT for next year.
The story left me with two questions. 1. Who stole the sleigh in the first place? 2. How did they get it away from the, all seeing, all wise Workshop? The why is obvious because it’s for the technology. Was the whole situation set up by the workshop so that Santa would personally meet Billy and make sure that his sister got what she needed since she was too old now to get on the lists? I wondered, for a moment, if this was an opportunity for Claudia to revoke her ways, but obviously not. Well, there’s always another year.
In my opion a well remade short story made in the Christmas tradition. Replacing Santa with an ex mercenary might not be an option for most people but sometimes a new job can make a person`s mind more pliable or so Kris thought as he took over his new job. But having to return to old traits was not something he had planned for. However; he takes his job seriously and noone messes with his sleigh and presents for the children in the world. So when his new sleigh is stolen Kris is on the warpath and nothing will stand in his path to get it returned
This is not you Mama's Santa story it's so much better
I liked this book so much I read it twice. It was so surprisingly different I could put it down. I always knew Santa was awesome, but didn't realize he could kick ass & take names. Highly recommend this book & am holding Mr Ender's to his word for an annual new Kris Dribble story. Seriously buy it and read it you won't be disappointed
Christmas Kringle: Silent Night kicks off Michael Anderle’s Christmas Kringle Series, and if you think you know what to expect from a Santa story, think again. In this world, Kristian Kringle isn’t the jolly old man from childhood stories. Rather, Kris is a retired mercenary who took up the mantle of St. Nicholas to seek penance for past actions.
Now, his mission is to bring joy to children around the world with the help of magical elves and a smart Workshop similar to the Room of Requirement from the Harry Potter series. But when someone steals his brand-new sleigh—jeopardizing his mission and threatening millions of smiles—Kris snaps back into operative mode and promises that every child will wake up happy on Christmas morning.
Hardly a saint, this St. Nick delivers high-velocity lead to the bad guys before delivering presents to the children. To achieve his objective, the former mercenary dusts off his old skill set and takes down anyone standing in his way. Armed with far more than holiday cheer, Kris starts a globe-trotting manhunt that races from the North Pole to Miami, New York City, to retrieve his sleigh.
Speaking of the sleigh: This is another tongue-in-cheek aspect of the story, as the sleigh looks more like “a bird of prey or maybe a stealth ship out of a sci-fi film.”
An intriguing blend of genres
In Christmas Kringle: Silent Night, the contrast between holiday cheer and tactical fury is surprisingly charming. The story never takes itself too seriously, which makes the blend of violence, humor, and heart work better than expected.
This fast-paced Christmas action novella is filled with sharp humor, explosive action scenes, and one-liners reminiscent of the Die Hard movies. Anderle blends science fiction, fantasy, and military thriller into something wildly entertaining and delightfully unhinged. It’s violent, chaotic, and definitely not your cozy Hallmark holiday tale, and exactly what makes it such a fun ride.
If you enjoy action-heavy thrillers with a playful twist, or if you’re simply looking for something different to read during the holiday season, the Christmas Kringle Series is a splendid choice. And when you’re done with the six books (as of November 2025), you can read its Kringle’s Classified Ops spin-off.
My grandchildren and I recently went to see the Christmas movie "Red One". Watching it put me in the mood for something different than my normal fare of non-fiction, so I turned to Michael Anderle. Once again, he delivered in spades! Our well-known version of Santa Claus, the elves, and even the famous North Pole workshop receive upgrades in this novella. It is full of action and adventure with a little bit of science fiction thrown in for good measure. Just a touch of humor rounds it out delivering a truly enjoyable read that kept me up past my normal bedtime.
Not the Christmas story some would ask for, but well worth the read.
What if the legend of Santa Claus was true? What if it was a mantle that got passed on from time to time? And what if the newest one to be called to take up the mantle was a special ops mercenary? Well, maybe it's because Kris Kringle might just be called on to F' some people up to ensure that the presents get delivered. Bad kids get coal in their stockings, Good kids get presents. Bad guys get high velocity lead. Kris is going to make those deliveries.
Just so you know Mr Anderle did it again. Gave me a great story during a difficult year during the time of year that we shouldn't let that affect us if possible. Absolutely loved this book, story whatever you use to describe it. Your stories help me escape and find me out of the circumstances we're surrounded by. So pick this up and read it you'll love it if you enjoy his style of writing.
I love this story of a ripped and tatooed Santa on the hunt for his stolen sleigh. Hardly a saint, he able to shoot straight from Miami to Manhattan, with a sleigh more advanced than Knight rider's KITT. But when it comes to his job, his soft heart is all about checking his list and delivering the presents. Irreverent and humorous, this Santa leaves a trail of dead bodies before his Christmas eve deliveries.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I sat in my recliner, with Christmas music playing softly in the background, and read this book on Christmas Eve. A lovely gift from the author. It provided just the right amount of entertainment to take my mind off spending the holidays alone due to covid-19. Will be looking forward to the next book around Christmas time next year, it not sooner. Merry Christmas!
So I will keep you to your promise. 5 stars means I get at least 5 more books. I can wait a year between each one no problem at all. For those that are thinking about reading this book. Please do so. I figure we need to keep theses coming for about 20 years or so. By then I'll be going one way or the other myself.
Thank you for Kris And Rudy. Can Claudia be an elf eventually????
My new Christmas classic! Don't get me wrong I truly treasure A Christmas Carol but this.... is next level! It's part Die Hard & part The Santa Clause but more awesome because it's in book form & you can bring it to life in your own mind. I laughed, I cringed & even stressed more than a little. This is my first Michael Anderle book, I'm now off to purchase more. Thank you Mr. Anderle for this journey, I can't wait to start the next!
This was a great read, as expected from Mr Anderle. How he manages to write such creative and engaging stories that are so different and unexpected is way beyond my limited comprehension. I just enjoy them! Santa retrieving stolen property is a great story and when you add in the Workshop the possibilities compound exponentially. Hoping for many more stories, luckily this author is very productive.
Yeah this was a lot of fun. Short quick and of course I'm on to the next one
Who doesn't like a kick ass Santa Claus? This was a lot of fun and honestly too quick of a read. I'm glad there's two more to get through after this. Not that this would make a great really long book. It probably would but it was excellent and it was fun and I'm reading it just a couple of days after Christmas which is even better.
Warning: NOT a children story! Not even teenager. Maybe young adult. But it is definitely the most fun and politically inappropriate Christmas story ever! But a again, redemption stories always has the worst offender as protagonist, as you need the contrast to make the story.
Wildly inappropriate, violent, filled with cursing. In other words, all the fun and humour I have come to expect in an Anderle book. This Santa kicks ass and takes names, then delivers presents. I want his back story. Could Claudia eventually be Mrs. Claus? Who knows?
Cool character... Kris is one in a billion now. And his sleigh is oh so important. What happens when there's an impediment to his delivery of presents? Well, Kris wipes it out, as he is singularly able to do.
Definitely not for the kiddies. And thanks for that! Will there be another next year? Or a different holiday character...?
Now for Something Completely Different Regarding Christmas
So now I can't think of Santa Claus without envisioning the tats, the six pack, the bald head, and the guns. I loved this book. I just picked up this years story. I am looking forward to many stories to come about my favorite Kris Kringle. Enjoy and Merry Christmas!
Bullpup P9, grappling line, grenades, flashbangs, a Glock 17 with a suppressor... Classic Santa gear? Nope. I didn't fall for or enjoy this Special Ops Agent turned Santa concept. I finished it but only because it was so short. I will now resume the fluffy Christmas romances and stay in my regular Christmas lane. Haha!
Christmas Kringle: Silent Night by Michael Anderle is a bit like Die Hard meeting Fantasy!
What did Santa do before he become the man delivering presents? Apparently he was some sort of mercenary, and if he needs to, he can polish up his previous skill set... A darker and a bit violent, but funny Christmas read that kept me well entertained!
Congratulations to Michael Anderle for another really amazing series. It’s hard to find such an interesting and exciting author who not only writes intelligently but also provides top rated plots, characters and excitement in the stories. I’m really looking forward to the next book in the series.
I liked it. It would have been nice if it was a longer story, but it was good. I doubt we will see more of the characters but more of the back story filled in on how he got the job would be a fun read. I recommend it.
Please Note Curse words used: Thank you Michael and also your team for this little jingle. I totally enjoyed it and would love to see more of these. Fuck COVID! Have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year
What happens when Santa's sleigh is stolen? St. Nick is NOT quite ready for this to be a holly jolly Christmas. Irreverent and funny, this is definitely a new take on the mythos.
Yes, this book was better than I expected and I expect a great deal from Michael Anderle. What a premise! Santa Claus as an ex-mercenary? Whoa! The plot was easily followed, and the main characters were very interesting. There is a huge potential here. Definitely recommending this book, friends!
I absolutely love alt versions of Christmas and Santa, particularly the bloody and mysterious kind and this book ticked all the right boxes. Remember this book isn't just for Christmas, it's awesome every night of the year
