Not in Kansas

Gliders and Wizards and Sex Droids Oh My!

Kansas Frayne has everything he needs. Except a life and love. A freak storm changes all that when it hurls him into the darkness. He wakes up to find he s been thrust into a world of promiscuous and directionally challenged beings, sensually sentient water and servants created solely to fulfill any imaginable fantasy. The sexuality he s long denied is tested to its limits, especially when a darkly erotic wizard issues the ultimate challenge. If Kansas wants to go home, he must fulfill one task. Resist the allure of the unbearably beautiful king. Sounds easy enough. Until he gets a look at the golden monarch. The chemistry between them is undeniable, and Kansas quickly realizes this is a challenge he is doomed to fail. Yet he has to try. Before he loses his heart."

This didn’t work for me. It just seemed rushed and not even the sex saved it. I loved the Finn factor books, but not this strange MM Oz story.

Fun little piece of fantasy smut that wasn't nearly as smutty as I expected (hoped).

This is kind of a whimsical take on the Wizard of Oz. Kansas has been living on his families isolated farm for several years when a storm approaches suddenly, he gets caught up, and wakes up in a strange land. He's rescued by a bird-woman and a cat-man, who take him to see the king and when he runs into the wizard, he tells him the only way to get home is to string the king along. Meanwhile Kansas' hormones are on high alert the whole time, and there is sex with a shape-shifting robot, a sentient waterfall, observing the bird and cat, the wizard, you name it. :-) Oh and the king eventually. It's not meant to be taken too seriously, it's just a lark in an unusual fantasy setting. It wasn't a direct translation of the Wizard of Oz, but enough to kind of give a nudge. I kind of thought maybe the king and the wizard would hook up, since it seemed as if the wizard kind of had a thing, but it was a more traditional HEA.

So I'm a huge fan of R.G. Alexander and have ready many of her books multiple times, but somehow I have never seen this series. I was in a little bit of a book funk and was rereading her Wicked series when Amazon recommended this book. THANK. GOODNESS. This book is obviously a play on the Wizard of Oz, but this isn't like any Oz you've ever read about.

After a disastrous end to a relationship, Kansas left behind a lucrative job and moved to his family farm in the middle of nowhere. Many years have passed and he has recently started thinking about bringing people back into his life. Kansas gets more than just people in his life. A twister appears out of nothingness and the next thing he knows he is staring at creatures he's never seen before. A man who's a cat? A woman who's a bird? Surely he must have hit his head and is just having a weird dream or is just delusional. But why is he naked? And since when is water in a lake sentient and sexual? Eventually Kansas admits that maybe he's not delusional or dreaming. He has somehow been transported to another word. A word with a wide variety of animal/human hybrids, magic, and more. Then he meets the great wizard. HOLY SMOKES! Why is everything so sexual and sensual in this world? The great wizard tells him the only way he will be able to get back to his world is if he can resist the king. No problem. Kansas isn't interested in some king in weird world. But Kansas may have spoken to soon. From his first glance of the king all Kansas wants to do is drop to his knees and be of service to the king, but he follows the wizard's wisdom and denies the king. The king doesn't have the best reaction to this. Eventually Kansas does give in to his attraction and finds that this is about more than just sex. It's about finding the person who completes you. The one you were made for. In any world.

I F'LOVED this book. I can see me rereading this book many times over the years. Wizard of Oz has been taken, flipped on it's head, and turned into a smoking hot, imaginative, sexy read with insta love (and did I mention the panty melting sex?) While short, there is actually some good character development and world building. We do get more of Kansas' story than the king, but we get enough of the king's story to appreciate him. But do take this book for what it is. It's meant to be fun and sexy. If you take it for that then I think you will love this book as much as I did.

Fair warning, there is sex with other characters than just the main characters with each other. Kansas has sex with a sentient sex AI and the wizard. The king makes out with a couple of different people. And then there is mention of a threesome between the Kansas, the king, and the wizard. I am usually totally anti sex with other characters, but this didn't bother me. The sex and making out happens before they admit their feelings for each other, and there is an explanation for the threesome.

This... was not good from the beginning and things kept getting worse as the story progressed. I would have given it 1 star but the author did introduce a couple interesting ideas... but then did nothing with them.

Kinky is right!

A pretty different story for sure. Not really sure its anything like what I expected. More suited towards male readers I would imagine.

I liked it. A loosely based version of oz with plenty of sex, magical creatures and a king that won’t take no for an answer. Fun, fast paced and enjoyable.

The story is nice, maybe a little too short, only 52 pages.

It's a revisiting of The Wizard of Oz story, with Dorothy who here is named Kansas (like the United State) and it's not from Kansas, but from Iowa. Kansas is a independent wealthy man who decided to live like an hermit in his family land. When he is swept away from a tornado, no one notices his absence, and so Kansas is free to enjoy is adventure.

He awakes in a strange world, inhabited by half-man half-beast being; the first two he meets are a cat like man and a bird like woman, a strange couple indeed. When the two find this strange being with bare skin and blue eyes, they think that it would be a nice gift for their king and decide to bring Kansas to him, even if the cat-like man would like to have a taste. In this world sensuality is the normal behavior and sex is almost a recreational activity; Kansas will discover that even a simple bath in a pond has sexual consequences, and not thanks to another being, but since the waters are alive.

When Kansas arrives to the king's palace, the first human-like man he meets is Z, a wizard. He is almost "normal" if not for the fact that he is extremely handsome and gold colored. Z. tells Kansas that, if he wants to have the chance to go back to home, he should refuse the king... and here maybe The Wizard of Oz mixed with One Thousand and One Nights. And here maybe is where I'd like the story to be a bit longer: there is an acceleration that brings the reader to the end of the story when it would be interesting to have more; the relationship between the King and Kansas is only hinted, and almost chaste in comparison to all the other sexual experiences Kansas had before "consorting" with the King.

Naughty thought on the title: Not in Kansas means that the story is not setting in Kansas like The Wizard of Oz, or that the King is not allowed to "enter" Kansas (and I don't mean the State...)

Anyway as I said the story is nice and enjoyable, more funny than serious; this is not the classical fantasy tale heavy in details, but it's more a funny escapade in a world that maybe is the dream world in Kansas' mind.

What is better than ruby red slippers, singing ‘Follow the Yellow Brick Road’, and melting a wicked ole’ witch with a bucket of water?

Watching a M/M romance take place in the Land of Oz! Oh yes, you heard me right. In this new spin on The Wizard of Oz tale, a man named Kansas is sucked up in a ‘twister’ and taken to the magical land of Orgy Oz. This would be my second M/M book and I have to say I totally get the appeal in the genre now. It is just hot to read about two Alpha males go at it with one another. Add in one sexy as all get up Wizard and you have a M/M/M scene that is so steamy you are nibbling on your bottom lip and begging for more.

The story had every element of fantasy you can ask for. To top it all off you set it on the backdrop of one of the most famous fantasy tales of all time, and you have a fast paced, sexy, erotic romance that rivals some of the best in the genre.

I loved this story. And not just because it was The Land of Oz orgy style, but it was well written, Land of Oz orgy style. I think anyone that has been looking for a great read, and erotic fantasy about Oz will love this book! The characters were well flushed, the story had no jarring effects, it was easy to follow and left me itching for more by the end.

Thank God there is a sequel… Surrender Dorothy.

Hmmmm

You know sometimes kink is an enhancer, sometimes its just strange ***(Im not downing/jusging anyone's fun here but you got to admit there are some oddities that make you look twice & blanks the mind for a second. Then you turn around & vocally defend said kink as the personal freedom it is).***

This is one of those that does it for me..I grew up watching Wizard of Oz and appaulding a young girl befriending outcasts and triumphing over flying monkeys, henchmen, & the wicked boss lady. Looking at the from a child's perspective, its an inspiration.

Now, add some kink, man on man sexy times & its like a mind warp lol....

This story is set forward from then with the King of Oz as a scarecrow with a submissive side.... hmmmm lol. Here this whole time, I would have the Lion had a subby side.

It's one of those books that you don't want to be caught reading in public because there's always a chance someone is reading over your shoulder. Everyone was an exhibitionist! What libidos! The sex was pretty hot. I especially liked the watering hole concept.

This twist on The Wizard of Oz was definitely interesting. I just never imagined Dorothy, Scarecrow, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion AND the Wizard to get to know each other so intimately. ;-)

An interesting spin on the Wizard of Oz. This erotic romance is M/M so if that is not your thing you should probably just skip it. I read the Dorthy story ages ago, so long in fact that I basically relearned this story. It was OK at best. I just felt like it was TOO erotic and not enough story. Due to the length though I can't complain too much.

An exotic erotic fantasy in a happy fairytale setting. I loved this short colourful tale with its hot and surprisingly well characterised animal people. The characters had a laid back approach to sex and enjoyed it without bad feelings. I would like to read more stories set in this world. 5 stars for the world building, 4 stars overall because there was not much of a plot.

I've only read one other book by this author and wasn't much impressed so I thought this was going to disappoint me as well but it seems this one is a fluke. A very welcome fluke. The story is actually pretty creative and fun to read. I also liked Kansas and Tavyn. They were an interesting couple for sure...Don't expect a full time novel tho. It's a pretty short story.

Short Wizard of Oz M/M tale. There is more potential than story. There was some hot sex to offset the lack of story so I won't be too hard on it.
