This title is one of the Looking Glass “Seasons” library. Winter activities and the science of winter are explained for young readers in simple sentences that often contain higher level vocabulary. Concepts such as the winter solstice and the role of the equator in global weather are explained, as well as the winter survival characteristics of plants and animals. The illustrations are pleasant and help readers understand the changing of the seasons. Back matter includes a spread on winter activities, the months that comprise the seasons, publisher’s website, a glossary and index. The book is okay; order if needed.
