My cousin Patricia gave me this book when I was at least five years old. ( At every stage of my life, I have been gifted books.) I believe this book deepened the seed of my Francophilia. Martha's Parisian best friend Madeleine has such sophistication and grace. The only rude person is Pierre, Madeleine's older brother. He softens towards the end of the story.

I am keeping this book for possible future children.
