I thought the book was very informative to anyone looking to learn about the hacking world. It gave many real world examples and was easy to follow. However, when I gave this book to my friend (who knows about the topic) he said it was very basic, and cringy. This book is for anyone who knows nothing about the topic, and wants a basic understanding, but not for anyone who already knows about hacking. I would consider this book an entry level book to the topic, setting a solid basic foundation. Overall, since I knew nothing about the topic, I found it quite interesting.

In a field crowded with alarms and acronyms, this book chooses plain language and steady footing.
This is cybersecurity for the genuinely curious. It explains what hacking is (and isn’t), offers real-world context, and touches on the social implications without talking down to the reader or sensationalizing the risks. I appreciated the neutral tone—hackers aren’t painted as cartoon villains, and the book resists the urge to panic its audience.

If you already have a technical background, you’ll likely find this too basic. But that restraint is also its strength: it’s accessible, readable, and confident enough to stop before overwhelming you.

A solid four stars for being exactly what it aims to be—a thoughtful, entry-level overview that informs without intimidating.

A cybersecurity primer aimed at young adults. It briefly covers the technical concepts, history, and sociopolitical implications of cybersecurity. It's so elementary that those familiar with cybersecurity won't find anything new. The authors don't work in IT, but that's fine because this book is just an overview for laymen.

I really appreciated the neutrality of this book. It was able to speak of hackers without taking the media's approach that all hacking is evil. It was also more in-depth than I expected.
