Generations old and new come together to save all of pony-dom in this adventure that features the G1 and Friendship is Magic ponies!
A long time ago, an evil witch named Hydia sought to destroy pony-kind. Now her granddaughters, Grackle and Dyre, are back to finish the job!
With the School of Friendship overloaded with students, Starlight Glimmer and the Mane Six reach out for help. Violet Shiver, Shadow Storm, and Black Belle! But these ponies aren’t quite what they seem; in fact, they’re working for Grackle and Dyre! With their sights set on revenge and a brand-new Smooze on hand, the young witches and their dastardly creations are ready to cause some mayhem…
Can their plan work? Will friendship begin to fall apart as Grackle and Dyre wreak havoc in Ponyville?
This was a hit of a chore to get through, which is a shame. I was looking forward to this being a fan of the IDW MLP series, but this just lacks the charm.
It feels far too long, and takes a long time to get going. The G1 ponies don't show up until well after the halfway point. Once there, they have very little to do besides providing exposition and handing over the magical mcguffin. From that point they are little more than set dressing. They don't get to really shine as their own characters, and so the whole thing feels like little more than a cheap gimmick.

A really fun concept. I recommend reading after having watched My Little Pony: The Movie (1986). This graphic novel features Reeka and Draggle's own daughters and their plot for revenge against the pony world. They set their sights on Equestria and come up with a plan to create chaos for the ponies by securing their Smooze-infused creations, the S'Monies, positions at the School of Friendship.
An interesting twist on the My Little Pony world. Felt a bit weird to have humans in the Friendship is Magic universe, but it was cool to see the mashup of Gen 1 and Gen 4.
I did find this one really wordy and heavy of the dialogue. Because of that, the story dragged a bit. The Gen 1 ponies don't have a huge role in the story overall.
I really enjoyed the artwork. I especially loved Grackle and Dyre's character designs.
It was a fun read overall, but I think I liked the idea more than the execution.
I'm gonna be completely honest: the only reason I read this is because first gen ponies were little Steph's jam. Some of my happiest childhood memories involve MLP. But that's been about 40 years ago, and I wasn't really versed in the lore back then at all. I really didn't know what was going on here but it was a quick read and it was fun to feel those little corners of my brain light up with joy at the sight of chonky ponies.
it was cute but having not seen g1 mlp i wasn’t really invested in the g1 characters and i had no idea what the heck humans/witches were doing in the story. but then i remembered g1 did have humans in it. it threw me off and i wasn’t a big fan of the crossover but i can imagine it hits different for someone who was into g1.
I agree with others, the G1 ponies took far too long to show up and then didn’t get to do much. Also, I’m terrified of possums & it took all my pony power to keep reading this when it turned into a main character.
I loved this more than I thought I would. I actually started looking for a second volume only to find out one didn't exist. I'm extremely sad lol. I highly recommend checking this out if you are a MLP fan.
A fun read with great character designs. I like the dichotomy of the older generation blasting their enemies away, while the newer generation focuses on reformation through friendship. Also apparently there were humans in gen3? Crazy

Fun to see the first generation of ponies meet the friendship is magic ponies. A bit scary for smaller children but great for older fans, especially fans of ponies throughout the generations.
