White Collar Brothers #3

One-Night-Husband

Rate this book

In Las Vegas. Verkatert.

Gar nichts.

Book 3 in an interconnected series ~ best when read after book 1 and 2.

Featuring ~ dual 1st person POV, Vegas wedding, only one bed, forced proximity, childhood sweethearts, reunited lovers, second chance, steamage

Dom and Valentina's history goes back two decades to when they were 16. They can never seem to get their act together and make their relationship work. When they drunkenly get hitched in Vegas they're ready to get it annulled asap, but their Italian parents have another idea ~ take 3 months to try to make it work.

Dom is a workaholic, leaving no time for a social life. He only has one thing on his mind ~ making as much money as he can, leaving no time for a wife. But can forced proximity make him realize he can have both a career and a family?

As with Carm, in the previous book, it really took me a long time to warm up to Dom too. Finally hearing his full side of the story helped me fall in love with him. I'll be honest though I did perk up when it was implied that he's left handed ~ I have a weird thing about that. 😂

A steamy and emotional ride that was all was wrapped up with a neat little bow just as we knew it would be. It took a little longer than I would have liked for them to figure out what everyone knew all along, even though they each knew they were destined to be.
Happy to see there is a different series that begins with Blanca. I wouldn't mind reading a story about Ryder either.

*Thanks to Piper Rayne and Valentine PR for the ARC. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review*

It is indeed steamy. The chemistry between Dom and Val is off the chart. I love their push and pull. I love they hold back from their attraction because they think they do not fit each other. I also like their parents mingle with their business. The author done a good job bringing out the secondary characters to live.

The story is marriage trap. The plot is there with the right amount of layers and sweet sexy banter. I like Dom. He seems very aloof outside but inside he is fighting his attraction toward Val. And I also love how Val pinning for Dom after her divorce.

Overall I do enjoy this book very much.

I've been excited for Dom's story since getting a sneak peek at the end of Dirty Flirty Enemy and this book was one that had me consumed from beginning to end. This was not the typical romcom Piper Rayne book, this was an emotional second chance romance that definitely pulled on the heartstrings. Dom and Val have loved each other since they were kids but when you're young life never goes as planned and their paths took different turns. Their story is one that will have you yelling at your kindle, laughing at the Mancini Men, Blanca, Lulu, Gia and frustrated with Dom and Val that you'll want to throttle them. I can honestly say that this book had me on edge the entire time and realizing by the end I didn't want to let go! Such a beautiful story about second chances, finding the one and not letting them go!

This was definitely my least favorite of the series. But it was still really good!
I had this at a four star read until around 75% and BOOM! The rating went up when some shit went down. 😂

This is one of those books that I’m torn over, in some respects I really loved it and in others not so much. Look, I’m new to the Piper Rayne bandwagon, I’m hooked on The Baliey’s series and thought I’d give this series a try, and while I loved the family dynamics of it, the romance not so much.

I’ll admit I always wanted to be a part of a big Italian family so much so, I asked my parents often if they were sure they took the right baby home from the hospital so I loved the Mancini family and they way they enveloped Valentina’s family into their own. The sibling/cousin craziness, the Italian ma’s, the nosey, well meaning nudges, all of it, I loved every minute of it. What I didn’t love was Dominic and Valentina who so obviously belonged together spending so much time playing the “I love him/her game, but I can’t trust him/her to stay in my life.” These are not young adults, they are 35 years old so they should be way past the age in which they’ve learned to communicate effectively. It is pretty sad that Valentina’s 16 year old son communicates better than they do. I was really frustrated by their on again, off again, on again, off again relationship that I got to a point where I didn’t really care anymore. I was tired of it, I began to think they were seriously better off apart. Instead of this being a book where two people who so obviously belong together figure it out and we see that progression, it was all about the drama of the past and not near enough of the present and future.

I wanted to love this book so much; I wanted to find another family based series I could dive into, but sadly Wild Steamy Hook-Up was a let-down.

This is one of those times where the characters annoyed me almost as much as I loved them. Val and Dom were both so scared to put themselves out there and be hurt that they both kept hurting themselves and each other.

And while I understood it and their relationship was extremely complicated, I really wanted to smack them both in the head and tell them to use their big people words and sort it all out.

But Dom is a Mancini and with that comes all the meddling family to sort him out and make sure he does everything he should ……. Thank god or I might have had to throw my kindle.

The chemistry was hot, the family was awesome. I really need a Lulu of my own. And I can't wait to see what is up with Blanca.

I have been really enjoying this series and I really want to thank Piper and Rayne for bringing me back to my younger days growing up in Brooklyn NY, in my close knit neighborhood with all of the Italian families and knowing that what they write about Italian families being close and "Mama guilt" is 100% true. ;)

Dominic Mancini is the story I wanted most of all, he was always the quiet one, the mysterious one, the one you knew had his heart broken but didn't know how or why or by whom. Well, we end the series with his story and it's a perfect way to say good-bye to the Brothers....although I know they will be popping up again because Blanca, their sister will be getting her story at some point in the future in another series perhaps or maybe a standalone..only time will tell for sure.

Dominic Mancini and Valentina Daniella Cavallo (Val) have a complicated past to say the least, and it only gets more complicated when they wake up in Vegas MARRIED!!! Yes folks you read that right, married with rings and a marriage license to prove its all real. Now this is where the mama guilt comes into play, and lets face it...mama knows best.

This book had me laughing out loud but it also pulled at my heartstrings. This one was more emotional than the other two in the series but that is because of the history Dom and Val shared.

This book is extremely easy to recommend because its a read I feel everyone can enjoy. But remember over 17 please due to content.

Happy Reading!!!

I swore Carm was going to be my favorite of the Mancini brothers, but boy was I ever wrong! It’s always the quiet, unassuming ones that sneak up on you and steal your heart. And that’s exactly what Dominic Mancini did- he snuck in there and made me fall head over heels for him. After that brief glimpse we got at the end of Dirty Flirty Enemy, I could not wait to see what Piper Rayne had in store for Dom.

Wild Steamy Hook-Up was such a great second chance romance. Although I wanted to shake both Dom and Val at certain points- communication is key, people, I really enjoyed their story. They had so much history, but it seemed like things were always conspiring to keep them apart. Until what happens in Vegas sure didn’t stay in Vegas!

I like when Piper & Rayne deviate a little from the romcoms we usually get from them, and give us a story that’s more emotional and thoughtful. Sure, Wild Steamy Hook-Up had it’s funny moments- how could it not with the Mancini brothers and their family! But Dom and Val’s story had a lot of heart, and I felt so much for both of them, as they tried to reconcile their feelings about everything that was happening between them. At times it was frustrating to sit on the sidelines as they second guessed the other’s feelings- you could tell they were meant to be, they just had a hard time of letting themselves believe it. While it took Dom and Val a little longer than I would have liked to get out of their own heads, I really enjoyed the journey they took to get to their hea.

“Hey,” I say.
“Hi.” She wiggles up to rest her back on the headboard, making sure to keep the sheet over her.
“No need to be shy. I am your husband, after all.” I raise my hand, the stream of light coming through the curtains making the silver band shine.
Her breath leaves her in one rush and her mouth hangs open. She snaps her head down to look at her perfectly manicured hand, with red polish that matches her toes and plucks the cheap wedding band we must’ve gotten along the way as though it’s a piece of foil. But it’s not foil. It’s the real deal.
I pick up the marriage license from the side table and toss it on the bed next to her. “Do you want breakfast, Mrs. Mancini, or should we each call our attorneys first?”

Wild Steamy Hook-Up was quite a ride. It was a bit more emotional then some of the past Piper Rayne books I've read, but I really enjoyed it.

Dom and Val have a long and complicated past. But oh the love, that is obvious. From the very beginning and more so with every page that follows the love they have for each other is clear. By the time you're nearing the end you're ready to scream at them to get their act together. However the finish line was worth everything that came before.

I was so emotionally invested in this book. It is one the that I highly recommend. But then again I have been able to recommend every Piper Rayne book. They're that good.

Review by Jen SKewes

This is Dominic Mancini’s story, the one that I have been waiting for. We have met Dom in the prior installments. He’s the brooding, workaholic brother who is also a bit of a mystery when it comes to his love life. Work has always been his number one priority and for that reason he has never really been in a relationship. But that doesn’t mean he’s never been in love, even if he has yet to admit it.

Dom and Valentina have a history that goes as far back as their teenage years. You can say that these two have always meant to be together, but just when things seem to be going in the right direction, a decision is made, causing their life to take unexpected turns that changes what they have. They have been on and off for years, with Dom stepping aside when it was necessary. But their relationship was never serious, regardless of their feelings for each other. But with their recent break up, they haven’t seen each other in months. When they both happen to be in Vegas at the same time, Dom and Val do what they do best together. They spend the night together. Everyone knows that what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. But what happens when you wake up and part of the night is a blur? Only to remember that the woman in your bed is no longer your ex or your friend, but she is now your wife? Oh, and the “what happens in Vegas” rule, is not happening when your brother who can’t keep a secret to save his life finds out who the mystery wife really is!! But no big deal right? They will just get an annulment, and all will be in the past. Wrong!!! Two meddling Italian mothers and these two find themselves in a marriage that they now need to work on. Will they both realize that thy were meant to end up here, or will they continue to deny their feelings?

There is no denying the intense chemistry between Val and Dom. But there is also no denying that these two love each other, not matter how hard they try to keep their feelings hidden. Dom knows deep down how he feels about Val, but he doesn’t ever want to hurt her and still feels after all of these years that he cannot give her what he wants. Work is and has always been his priority. And this is where he became so frustrating. Don’t get me wrong, Val was frustrated as well for her own reasons. So together they had a tendency to make my head spin. But Dom was stubborn and loved his job, but I also think he was scared, of getting hurt and hurting Val.

Val on the other hand could never say no when it comes to Dom and there were times where I wanted her to say no. I wanted her to not give in so easily. I loved Dom but at times I wanted to smack some sense in him, I wanted him to see that while he tried so hard not to hurt Val, he was. I like him but it wasn’t until about 70% where I truly started to love him, because while he wore his heart on his sleeve he also guarded it. And for once you see the side of Dom that you have been waiting for. You know that he is an amazing man and truly loves Val, but seeing it is what made all the difference.

This book was an emotional roller coaster and honestly draining…lol. The back and forth between Val and Dom, learning of their past and what happened between them, and the ups and downs just tore at your heart. Everyone knew that they were meant to be together. You felt the love and passion between the two of them, but waiting for them to see it, well that was the emotional part of this book. It was sweet, sexy, had the right amount of drama and angst. A second chance romance that I absolutely loved!!! And a writing duo who know how to suck you in. Another fantastic read from Piper Rayne.

Wild Steamy Hook-Up is the third in the White Collar Brother series and is Dom and Val's story. You can easily read this as a standalone but you do get snippets of these two in the previous books that lead up to their book.

I was surprisingly surprised at how much I liked Dom and his soft side towards Val. I had not expected him to be so open in his attraction to her. Aside from his obsession with wanting to financially secure in his life and that being a priority in his life, the man has no problems with letting Val know how attracted he is to her. However, he also doesn't allow him to get closer to her than the physical.

Val has been in with Dom for quite some time. She has him on this pedestal but also realizes that they are not meant for forever. But she has also never let her true feelings be known to him. She keeps a lot to herself and really needs to get out of her head.

The assumptions and miscommunications are a HUGE hinderance in these two getting their shit together sooner. At their age and how easily these two do get alone, communication is truly easy for them, except when expressing their feelings towards each other. At times, this did get frustrating but it also made for an entertaining read.

Wild Steamy Hook-Up is an enjoyable read and one I liked more than I expected. I am keeping my eyes peeled for Blanca's book - I want to see her give her three brothers coronaries with her antics. LOL

Oh my. Dom's book was as good as I knew it would be. This clicked all my favorite boxes - it was a fake to real marriage for a couple that had a long complicated history, and that gave us some angst. Dom and Val are definitely my favorite in this series!

Okay.

My eyes and my head hurt after being caught up in the whirlwind that is Dom and Val and ALL their baggage.

I mean...DAMN.

But even though impulse to toss the kindle into the freezer was strong, many, many times I didn’t. There are numerous reasons I didn’t ~ their families, their friends ~ but the main one is that I NEEDED to see them get their HEA and even though it was rough, it was totally worth it.

Dom and Val...Dom is a workaholic. He’s sweet and caring, but he’s all about his job and while I totally understood his need to be financially secure, even I wanted to reach out, shake him and tell him he needed a life. Val is sassy, sweet and caring but she’s also the kind of person who feels the need to do the ‘right’ thing ~ at least as it has been told to her for her entire life and that’s when things tend to go sideways.

I have to be honest and say that I did not expect Dom and Val’s road to their HEA to be that convoluted or intense. Don’t get me wrong the smexy and fun were there, but man did these two just need to get over themselves. The conversations they had with themselves in their own heads were crazy! (My eyes seriously hurt from all the rolling) but even with all of THAT going on, it was so easy to see how good they could be together if they truly let themselves just be. But of course, nothing could be that easy and while I did flip flop between whose team I was on throughout most of the book, I did feel more for Val when that last sinkhole happened, but have to give Dom props for pulling her out and fixing things.

This series was my first by the authors, but will not be the last. The writing was engaging, the characters crazy and I absolutely LOVED the big, crazy family dynamic that really brought it all to life. And I will definitely be keeping an eye out for Blanca’s book because not only does she need an HEA, but I really want to spend more time with these crazy characters!

So much love for Dom & Val!
From the first page I was hooked, Wild Steamy Hook-Up by Piper Rayne is going to take you on an emotional rollercoaster ride but it's so worth it.

Watching Dom's and Val's story unfold had me smiling, swooning one min then frustrated and crying the next. These two have a lot of passion and a lot of hurt they need to put behind them to truly love each other unconditionally.
Dom and Val totally belong together, I'm so happy they were able to get their second chance at forever 🥰

5 Star Review Wild Steamy Hook- Up (White Collar Brothers #3) by Piper Rayne

The third book in the series about the Mancini family and is Dominic and Valentina (Val) Daniella Sommerland’s story, a second chance at love story that ticked all the boxes for me.

I will admit that there were times that I wanted to smack some sense in to Dom.

Val has been in love with Dom since she was 16 and despite their hook-ups, she has always believed that she and Dom would make a future together one day. Pity Dom doesn’t feel the same way.

The chemistry between Dom and Val is intense and impossible to ignore. They say what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas but what happens when a drunken night of passion ends in a marriage neither expected, or do they?

Can they get an annulment or divorce before their families find out? Neither Dom or Val count on the interference of their families and I found myself laughing when their mothers played the “Italian” guilt trip card.

As with other books I have read from this dynamic duo, the writing was strong and I have no idea where one author finished and the other took over.

The miss communication and misunderstandings between Dom and Val lead to several frustrating and at times humorous moments but through it all the chemistry blazed. Will Dom and Val learn from their past mistakes?

I was excited for Dom’s story and Piper and Rayne did not disappoint. Now to wait, not so patiently for Blanca’s story....

When it comes to Wild Steamy Hook-Up, I can't actually decide whether I liked it or not.
It had some amazing moments but it also had many of those I would call "why do I have to put up with this shit" moments.
Also, I wasn't completely sold out on the beyond-fate chemistry between the characters.

“Times like this, it feels as if I was made for him and he was made for me. But if that’s the case, how come we’re so wrong for each other?”

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, right? Not if you have a brother who can't keep secrets, another nosey brother, and an Italian mother who loves to intrude. Gamble? No problems. Drink? Okay. Have fun at your cousin's bachelor party? Acceptable. Marrying a woman who is part of your life for years but you kept her a secret, who is divorced and also Italian, with a mother who also loves to intrude? Absolutely impossible for this story not to be discovered.
Dominic and Valentina have known each other forever. And their story is complicated. Between back and forth, unsaid things, hurt, these two managed to make so much confusion when it comes to their feelings, that they almost put everything to lose.
Dom wanted to settle down, go to college, make money. By the way, money is a key piece for him. Success and financial security is such an important goal that he will give up the woman he loves in pursuit of that dream. Valentina just wanted to be loved. But she does not accept to stand aside while Dom seeks what he needs. And by trying to move on with her life, fate eventually irrevocably changes her life, and ends up with their chances to be together again.
Years later, they are reunited. He got everything he dreamed. He has a good job, a nice apartment and the money he always wanted. She has a son, is divorced, and her career after hard work is bearing fruit. And even after so long, chemistry is still present. Just like the feelings that never disappeared. But the period together will be brief. Dom will let her go, so she can have what she always dreamed of. Even if that decision hurts him one more time.
When they meet again, Las Vegas kicks in. And with both of them drunk, waking up the next day married is no wonder. A mistake because of alcohol, but one that can be easily undone, only one lawyer is needed. But they didn't count on their mothers and all the Italian guilt they play on the couple. And so, they get married, with an agreement between them that as soon as his cousin's marriage passes, they will get a divorce. Or so they thought …
If Dom in the other books was a mystery, being able to follow his trajectory was a pleasant surprise. I understand his reasons for wanting to push Valentina away in the past, although I don't agree. But what can't be denied is how much he loves this woman, and how much being "dumped" both times hurt him.
Valentina caused me mixed feelings. I understand her frustration, but the succession of mistakes she made, made it difficult for me to connect with the character.
With all the Mancini together, the book has funny moments, great siblings interaction, lots of romantic moments, a bit of drama and lots of love. Dom may be more reserved, but his heart knows no bounds. Loved the character.

This book nearly killed me. I was so angry and frustrated at Dom and Val that I just wanted to beat them up in the end in hopes of them getting their shit together and just be together already. This book is filled with on/off relationship/hook up and so many unspoken words you wished they just said out loud.

Dom and Val have a complicated past, and it was hard sometimes to read about it and their thoughts because I always ended up frustrated, angry or annoyed at them but at the same time I was like I get why you are doing this. I don't know that I wouldn't have given up on them or been angry at them a long time ago if I would have been their family or friends throughout all those years, but their family was so awesome through all of this.

Dom is the same man as we have read about in the previous books. He is stubborn, not showing his emotions and still a workaholic, but at the same time, you get a closer look at how he is with family and people he loves. I liked him throughout this book but never fell in love with him because sometimes he just had his head too far up his ass for me to really think I want this man.

Val is difficult for me to figure out. Because at the beginning of the book I was all team Val and felt with her every time Dom was, well Dom, but the more we learned about their past, and I heard her inner thought the more I could see they were both stupid and at fault. So at that point, I just got so frustrated because I wanted to smack them both around until they figured things out and I kinda needed that one person I could feel with and root for.

But when I was 70% in this book that is when it really hooked me and made all my frustrations worth it. I won't say too much more about it, so I don't spoil anything but if you are like me and is sitting through the first part of this book and is like will it ever get better will they ever learn then just hold on and keep reading Piper Rayne knows what they are doing.

This book can be read as a standalone but I will say I love the other books in this series so I will recommend them but you can also just read them out of order.

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Captivating Dominic Mancini

Wowww this should be a 5 stars
Despite H strong talent at kitchen and yes a very caring hubby material
I can’t said is a second chance because both h & H have devoted their love at such a young age but due to H stubbornness & excuses me , I won’t spoil what it is but for such devoting love H is too easy to give up on h

After more than half of the book I’m pretty exhausted with the push and pull between main characters which supposed to be mature enough

Furthermore he don’t even need to grovel after the last accident but I do like h son’s , such a cool character

But all in all is still a good read and entertaining with the Mancini siblings

I've been waiting for this book , since I love quiet brooding men and I thought Dom will be a great hero .
He was . For 10 maybe 15 chapters , and then it got borring .
Val was an ok hero although I didn't understand her decisions in the past at all .
The whole story was based on errors of the past and on Lack of communication and inability of the parties to be honest with each other.
The sex was good , but like in their relationship , it wasn't enough.

Temanya second chance ya, dan pasti bayak drama dong... ini ni, drama2 gini yg bikin gw baper kalo baca, rasa2 gregetan dan keselnya tu banyak. Biasanya gw menghindari tema ini emang, cuma ini kan part series, di 2 buku sebelumnya tu Dominic Mancini kan misterius bgt, jelas2 patah hati pas summer tp kenapa dan sama siapa hehehehehehe.

Cinta monyet emang jarang jadi si, ini Val sama Dom ude deket dr kecil, pacaran sampe lulus sma tp mereka punya pandangan beda soal masa depan, bkn kr kesalahpahaman semata. Ini tu make sense masa lalunya,

Gimana gw gak baper coba! Kwkwkwkwwkw #gueyangbaperan
