First of all the cover of this book is stunning. I could look at it for hours. But instead of doing that I highly recommend to read the story that follows after the cover. Because for me it is just as amazing. It's a page turner right from the start.

Bellamy is married to her wife and business partner Kendra for more than ten years. While Bellamy worked her ass off to bring more and more business, Kendra loves to spend the money and other women. She is also great making Bellamy's days a living hell by yelling at her or just being her toxic self. During one of a horrible dinner Bellamy meets the more than 20 years younger Payton. Payton is working at the restaurant as a waitress to earn enough money for her life with her nephew and being able going back to school one day.

There is something between them right away, which leads them to sleep together. Both know where they stand and that it can't be more than this night. But this doesn't mean that the night doesn't leave a mark on both.

When Payton applies several months later at Bellamy's and Kendra's law firm, she has no idea that this is Bellamy's firm. But needing the job she has no choice to accept. It's when a huge rollercoaster ride starts. Both try to be professionals and working together, while there is also Kendra that is almost impossible to work with. In this part of the book where so much is happening. There are threats, power games, abuse of power, blackmailing and so many other things that all lead back to Kendra and make Bellamy's and Payton's days unbearable sometimes.

While you ask yourself why Bellamy is taking up with all of this, she actually has a plan, which is to divorce her wife and take over the firm from her. Payton on the other hand has her own battles to fight, which is getting custody of her nephew Liam. She also gets in the crossfire at the office more than once and there is one scene that could be a trigger for some readers, because it's when Kendra takes advantage of her position and Payton's situation. It's only a short scene and can be overread if someone isn't comfortable.

When Bellamy discovers something else at the firm that doesn't seem right she has to make a decision. A decision that will change her life but also Payton's (oh and Kendra‘s, how could I forget her...🤔🤣). It's where I definitely wanna stop telling what's happening, because for me this is a book you need to experience by yourself. I enjoyed so much in this story and for me even if Payton and Bellamy have a huge age-gap, they just fit.

Bellamy always being successful in her career is totally vulnerable as a person. I don't think she knew before what love is and only starts to see what if or what could be thanks to Payton. My heart went out to her so many times. And yes I think I developed a little (or maybe a big...) crush on her. 😍
Payton on the other hand might be young on paper but her should definitely isn’t. Having to take care of her nephew and sometimes of her sick mother made her grow up much faster than anyone should.

I loved the scenes of the two of them together. Be it alone or with Liam. There were several very sweet scenes with lots of depths. And well the other kind of alone time they had was definitely hot and totally enjoyable. 🔥🥵

It is definitely a book I will read again, because I believe it will make me notice even more details the second time.
Adrian J. Smith definitely has written a wonderful story that deserves to get lots of attention. A story that is so much more than a simple affair.

And last but not least if someone struggles with cheating I can assure that you should be fine here. I usually struggle with it too but here I definitely didn’t because of the whole circumstances.

I received an advance reader copy from the author and voluntarily leaving a review.

AA can be a difficult read for some readers with many issues to contend with from infidelity, sexual harassment, drug abuse, child abuse - yes, plenty of drama. There is Bellamy who stayed married for more than 10 years with Kendra even though she is aware that Kendra is not faithful. Bellamy who had a tryst of her own with Payton. Now, I’m not condoning what Bellamy had with Payton but given how Kendra is, I don't really give a damn. The eventual breakup happened for Bellamy with both Kendra and Payton. And at long last, Bellamy had the family she wanted, and how she finally got there was nicely paced.

Solid 4 🌟

Admissible Affair is an emotionally challenging novel to read however it is well worth it in the end. The challenge is reading through a number of triggering scenarios including child abuse, drug addiction, infidelity and emotional and sexual abuse. The reward is a well written novel which follows an age gap romance from its first encounter through the untangling of a thirteen year relationship with the betrayal of a spouse and business partner. This is the real L Word in all its messiness.
The pacing of the storyline is near perfection. There is no rush to a quick conclusion which is really appealing. The story occurs over a two year period which feels right considering all that occurs. The angst is carried all through the novel so the reader feels the pressures as well. The characters are fully developed and feel very real with all their flaws. This really is a solid romance novel to place on your to read list.

I bought this book two years ago and finally have the time to read it, and what a wonderful epic love story! A young single mother by adoption, who is also a brand new paralegal and a successful middle aged, workaholic lawyer with 13 years of loveless marriage, the two very unlikely women with very different background and in different life stage, fall in love and become a blissful family at last! It is a long book with many dramas and heartfelt moments, with mental and physical trauma and plenty of complications, but the author masterfully blended all these into a beautiful romance and leave me wanting more. Unlike the typical WLW romance, when the MCs finally fall in love, they immediately ended with a happily ever after, this book showed us that love takes time and effort and full commitment, you have to love not only the person but their whole family and you have to be brave and hopeful for a great future together. I absolutely love this age gap, ice queen, work place romance.

This is one of the most toxic books I've ever read; I'm floored by all of the other positive reviews! Did we not read the same story? These characters and their actions are cringe-inducing and I don't see the appeal of a romance stemming from infidelity and employee/employer power dynamics. Trigger warnings include sexual harassment and rape in the workplace. Does this sound like romance fodder to anyone else?

This was an intriguing book to read. There are some big moments, some painful and hard ones, and some heartwarming ones. The story takes some twists and turns as Bellamy and Payton navigate their feelings and their own lives. I liked the two women together, although I’m not sure what Bellamy brings to the relationship. Payton is loyal and really good for Bellamy, but Bellamy is seemingly too absorbed in her own stuff, although she does help Payton out a lot in different ways. She’s also insecure about being so much older than Payton, even though Payton doesn’t care. This romance is like a mystery as the author reveals bit by bit what Bellamy’s wife has done at work, to other people and to Bellamy herself. Some of the descriptions of Bellamy as she discovered all this were poignant and stuck with me for a while. All in all, I enjoyed the story and found the ending satisfying.

I liked the story but once they got together the timeline was a bit confusing. It jumped forward a lot without really finishing the last scene. All in all I enjoyed reading it.

Found this book really difficult - no spoilers but I had to put it down for 24 hours before picking up again. Has quite a punch. Recommended if not faint hearted.

Adrian J. Smith is one heck of a fantastic writer. I’ve been reading her books for years and I have to say, this book is probably her best one yet. The book began at a restaurant where the reader was given quite the glimpse into the tumultuous relationship between Bellamy and her wife Kendra. After Kendra left her at the restaurant Bellamy was given a ride home by her server, Payton. A quick tryst in the front seat of Payton’s car, the two parted ways thinking they’d never see one another again.

Months later, Payton was hired to work at a law firm, little did she know that Bellamy was a co-owner. The two continued to fight their attraction to one another while dealing with the drama filled Kendra.

This book was definitely a rollercoaster ride filled with moral dilemmas and unconscionable acts. Kendra was just an awful human being and just when I thought she couldn’t sink any lower, she would. Bellamy bided her time and stayed in the relationship for way longer than any normal person should have. Payton was mature and wise beyond her years and Bellamy was lucky to have Payton in her corner. I honestly couldn’t put this book down. Well don’t AJ!!

This is a fantastic book that has left me with a book-hangover. The two main characters were so real and they each had their own issues and were not perfect.
Throw in the evil partner and showing that it’s not just men capable of workplace harrassment it made for a thrilling read. I liked that the story continued after the normal end to a romance and showed that relationships don’t always just come good overnight. That they take work and compromise. Fabulous book!

I loved this book. It has the right mix of tension and drama to keep you riveted to the pages. Bellamy and Peyton are believable likeable characters. The build up and resolution of the story are fantastic, not your usual two pages of kiss and make up and done. Kendra is great as the villain of the piece. Do yourself a favour and buy this book, you won’t be disappointed!

DNF.. I gave up when one of the two main characters goes home to find her reprehensible wife cheating on her for the hundredth time, downs some whiskey and allows the wife to take her to bed claiming the cheating was a turn-on. A disjointed story about dysfunctional married women who run a law firm and the poor paralegal that’s caught up in this mess… not worth finishing.

wow

This book has evolved from a rocky start to a beautiful ending. I couldn’t put it down. There were so many things that made me cringe and hopeful at the same time. The storyline is well written and a page turner.

Kendra and Bellamy are married. Mistake. Kendra has ongoing affairs. Mistake. Bellamy has a one night stand. Mistake? Payton, going to school and working as a waitress to not only better herself but put herself in a position to take custody of her nephew. This lesbian romance pulls at the reader as we ride along this emotional rollercoaster. This read involves emotional abuse, drug abuse, family, children, adultery, and just plain old meanness. Payton is the heroine as she navigates the various situations head on and for the most part makes some very good decisions. Bellamy is caught in the should I stay or should I go.

This is a sweet age gap romance about taking your life back and starting over. It's about taking a chance in order to find happiness. The characters are well written and well developed. I stayed up way too late reading. There were steamy scenes. I loved the ending. The only thing I didn't like about the book was the number of typos. Correct them and it's 5 star worthy.

Sweet Story

I'm usually one of the first to not read a book if the story is about cheating. But this story is different. It's not a fairy tale but more reality....along with the fears and struggles we all face. Well done!

Enjoyed this quite a bit. Wouldnt say the character are imprinted on me in any special way but it was a good story and well written with a reall nice ending.
Both MCs are very strong but each in their own ways and while it caused some friction their love was strong throughout

One of my favorite things that I've come to love about Adrian J. Smith's books is her writing literally sucks me in. I can't get enough of her books and this is yet another example. (Both the paranormal and non-paranormal books alike!)
This one takes place in a lawyer's environment, with two different situations clashing together. And, my! How the heated action begins immediately--in such a realistic way. I love how relatable the situations can be in this book. To have all that twist together, building tension that takes you on such a roller coaster--I was literally reacting out loud so many times that my husband was snickering at my reactions. Spooked my cat a few times, too!
I was giggling at times. Furious at times. Crying at times. You take this journey with the characters.
I was glued to the screen all the way to the end. I couldn't stop until I got to the end and I finished. (It took me two days and would've been one if I didn't have to stop to sleep!)
I definitely, DEFINITELY recommend this book to read. It is such an amazing romance.
Plot was very well done and I was extremely impressed. Can't wait for her next book!!!

*I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review*

-TRIGGER WARNING -
This book contains themes of cheating, drug abuse, child abuse and mental/emotional abuse.

‘An Admissible Affair ’ is an age-gap, single mom, workplace, one night stand to HEA novel. With an intriguing cover and story to match.

From the beginning you are dropped straight into Kendra and Bellamy's marriage that’s falling apart, an intense connection between Bellamy and Peyton - the one-night stand - and all the angst that comes along with that.

The author has done a nice job of immersing you in their world, I felt connected to their love story and each character is well written.

The steamy parts are well timed, hot and just the right balance between physical intimacy and emotional intimacy given the intense themes throughout the novel.

I did find the timeline jumpy and accelerated at times, however this isn't a major issue, the book is still very enjoyable.

All In all - I enjoyed the book and would recommend. I'm interested in reading the authors other works.

What A Frustrating Yet Sweet Book!

Sometimes it takes an outsider to make you take a good look into yourself. Bellamy and Kendra, married but not happily, are partners in their own law firm. Kendra is manipulative and a cheat. Bellamy still believes in love and keeps falling back into the trap Kendra sets up. But then Bellamy meets Payton, a waitress who witness the abuse her wife dishes out to her leaving her in the restaurant with no ride home. Payton off res her a ride and something between them happens. Bellamy never cheated but it was a one off. That is until they need to hire another paralegal who keep quitting. Kendra hires Payton on the spot but when Bellamy comes in, they both realizes things are going to get complicated. This story unravels with Bellamy realizing she had to make changes but what about Payton. This was a very well written story although frustrating at times, it captures your heart. Great read!

I had a hard time deciding how I wanted to rate this book. One star seems harsh, but I based it on these three things.

1. The book didn’t flow. I felt like time was passing randomly and the plot lines felt almost foreign to each other.

2. When I read this book, I felt nothing. I didn’t feel a connection to the story or the characters. I don’t feel that it left a lasting impression either. Will I remember this story in a week? Probably not. The fact that it took me a month to finish this book is a testament to the fact that it didn’t hold my attention.

3. The characters felt one dimensional. It felt like the characters were there to serve the plot but not the story. It felt like the inclusion of certain characters was used to fulfill numerous archetypes.

Were there elements of the plot that I liked? Definitely. Did I like them enough for my attitude towards the entire book to change. No.

A few hard and difficult themes throughout the book, which are expertly handled and written with realism, heart and a sense of deep understanding.

I fell in love with both characters Bellamy and Payton, and how one reckless encounter sparked an entire romantic journey. It's rare I find an author I can read everything by, but Adrian's ability to write strong female characters that are FF, and raw with emotion, life and overcoming obstacles, is just astoundingly beautiful.

Admissible Affair not only has a book cover to die for (it's honestly gorgeous), but a plot to die for. Full of rawness, stark reality and an age-gap romance, this ticked all the boxes and more. She has expertly navigated toxic characters, drug use, family issues, coercion and betrayal with immense skill.

I literally devoured this book, and I'm excited to read more in the future.

Very Satisfying Read

This was a super enjoyable story to read. It has all the good stuff a WLW book needs. Sexy, good character development. Love the one-night stand turned into the "WTF it's you! What are you doing here in my real life!?" trope. Lots of tension, drama, mean, rotten wife who's very underhanded and two-timing. Cute babies, good age gap romance. Main characters are great, and do self introspection . Tangling with the mean wife who is also your business/law partner. There is a disturbing incident of sexual harassment/sex-abuse. This story contains other serious issues that face people in modern society. I feel that these things have been well-handled by the author. There is an HEA!

Firstly, there are definitely hard things in this, so check the warnings!

But also...Wow, I enjoyed this book!

The book was a bit steamier than I'm used to, so I was certainly uncomfortable reading it in public, but I still finished this in less than 24 hours.
Bellamy and Payton are both well developed as characters with believable flaws and strengths. After recent reads of men trying to write women, it was refreshing for someone to get the motivations and desires and weird constraints just right. I especially enjoyed the way Bellamy's ethics and desires played together with her weaknesses so beautifully.

real fascinating story

Bellamy and Paton were great characters and were very well defined. This story was definitely full of drama which included a third character Kendrick that was described as a highly volatile personality. these three characters combined made for a combined continuity of the story. The depth the author took the characters to with the drama surrounding not only their private life but also their professional lives was highly interesting. The love interest was very interesting and the age cap was handled delicately with very little drama, and showed how beautiful it could be between two women. I recommend this book as a very enjoyable experience to read.

I was intrigued the moment I read what this was about. I absolutely love age-gap tropes and this one was just… god, I've loved this from the first page. I fell madly in love with Bellamy along the way. Payton as well, but seeing Bellamy grow throughout this story was absolutely amazing to watch. I had a hard time putting this book down because the story and the characters just wouldn't let me go. I'm almost sad that I'm done reading this book because I miss having those two around…

Thank you to the author for sending me an early copy of the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

This review is very very very late because I realize I forgot to write it but!!! Here we are.

Admissible Affair is a messy, complex book, rich with depth and a good balance of plot and character development. If you're not afraid of a little controversy in your romance, you'll enjoy the characters' flaws and the intense emotions in this book. The writing is fantastic and I especially loved the audiobook narration!

Melancholy and beautiful

Little did these women know what their one reckless encounter would lead them to later in life.

Some dramatic twists and turns later, after another child with drug addiction has been born, it seems they find their HEA.

I was impressed by the way the author kept the story going, and seemed to have an insight to the minds of all the characters.

An epic love story, indeed! And an HEA for reals, eventually.

This was unlike anything else I’ve read before. There’s so much drama to go through and so many emotions. It starts with infidelity and continues with child abuse, sexual and emotional abuse, drug addiction. It’s so well written that I had to do it in one sitting. This is an age gap romance about re-claiming your life even if it’s scary, taking a chance and finding happiness again.

This had everything I loved! Lawyers. Relationship Development. The thing I loved the most was it had No pining for the whole book and only got together at the end of it.
Relationship milestones and Development were significant!
Highly recommend reading it.
