"All Blyth wants is a nice relaxing getaway from her wreck of a life and ass of an ex. What she gets is a double booked condo with the playboy from Hell. First she walks in on him in the middle of very loud sex. Then she gets caught looking. And God help her, she’s turned on. Unfortunatley, he’s on to her and he calls her on it.
Anthony is rude, infuriating and definitely a player. Blyth knows she’s in for an anything but relaxing vacation if she’s going to have to share quarters with the likes of him. What Blyth isn’t counting on is being sucked into his vortex of sex or the fact that he seems to be able to push her past boundaries she didn’t even know she had. Somewhere in the midst of his parade of girls and huge ego is a real man. Who has real hurt. And the real part of him is calling to her. First with temptation, then with sex and then something more. She’s just not sure if she’s strong enough to answer."

I liked it! It was short, and the ending was abrupt, but the story leading up to it was energy charged and beyond hot! Bylth's boyfriend cheated on her and she caught him, so after moping for a couple on month's, her best boy-bud sends her away on vacation to his beach house. Trouble is, when she enters the home, she is confronted by the exact scene she caught the ex in, but this time she watches as she is fascinated. The couple notices her and she flees to her room and calls boy-bud to rag him out. Turns out the other guest is his friend he has had his whole life and is staying there while he looks for work. Next problem, she is wildly attracted to Anthony, but he is a certified man-whore, who even after going another round with the lady the night before that night and morning, plays around with Bylth, then makes a date and spends the evening with another lady, plays with Bylth again, and continues to run hot and cold on her. Finally she gets the glimpse of his demons and thinks it is make or break when the ex shows up, oh, and so does lady-friend from the first time. Confrontations and chaos ensues, and we learn boy-bud set the whole thing up because it was the best thing for both of them to move forward from the things that were holding them back. The story was about these two getting together and how utterly stupid and fragile they both were but didn't even see it in themselves but easily identified it in each other. The story was good, the scenes were hot and the characters human
It was such a short tale. I wanted to like it more. It was gritty, and had lots of sexual energy. But everything just happened too quickly in a blur of lose ends.
Johnny, brought nothing to the story. Nor Sheila (or June, Julie, Jill... shall I go on?)
There also seems to be a lack of contraception. Yes, I know reading about it isn't sexy. But, it is better to be safe with the amount of sexual activity. It was mildly disturbing the idea of none safe sex. Not even birth-control was mentioned.
In "Learning to Drown," by the same author she mentioned the use of a condom once before going bare back. As if it was a normal thing between new sex partners?
This book had so much potential. The sexual descriptions are good. But the plot is completely lacking. And yet again... another ending that felt like such a let down.
This will be the last book I read by Sommer Marsden. I'm just not into spanking (violently with bruising). Exchanging of partners (with unprotected sex). And a disappointing ending (too many lose ends).
I agree with another reviewer about the lack of contraception but, I have to say other than that I enjoyed the book. Hot, hot, hot it left me wanting more (it's a bit on the short side so we don't really get into the depth of the characters)
I have to say this is the best read I have loved sommer Marsdens other books like boys next door and thought I'd try this i wasn't disappointed a really well written book
What a wonderful sexy, angsty, sweet and steamy short read. Once again I have read a Sommer Marsden story and have not been disappointed. I just love her story telling and the way she writes sex scenes is amazing. I know a couple of other reviewers mentioned the lack of condoms but I do t have a problem with that. I'm reading fiction after all, not a safe sex manual. If you are a fan of this author you will not be disappointed.
