To save the people of Raven, I have to journey to the underworld without the one thing I can't afford to lose...
With my life in Raven finally falling into place, I made a big mistake. I thought it would be fine to focus on something other than the gods. But when a crowd of people disappear from town, I'm in for a rude reawakening.
The Roman gods claim they're innocent, but the clues point at supernatural intervention. If the gods aren't kidnapping the town's residents, who could it be?
The answer lands in me in the ultimate battle for domination, in the last place I expect. I'm forced to leave my magic and friends behind and descend to the underworld, with only the wily goddess Ceres to help me along the way.
Can we Harwell matriarchs continue to control Raven's destiny, or will Mandy Carmichael finally have her turn?
A paranormal women's fiction about midlife women, mythical gods, and the magic that happens when life forces you to change.

Well, Cleo’s definitely being kept busy by those tricksie gods and goddesses! Her powers have grown and her wielding of Earth Magic is now second nature to her, but what happens when Cleo’s connection to Mother Earth and her magic are disconnected when she journeys into the Underworld? She’s still dashing from one crisis to another and having to think on her feet, but her journey down under brings the realisation that the stakes are even higher this time and maybe she’s bitten off more than she can chew . . . Less laugh aloud moments in this book, less of her interactions with her family, friends and Marcus - although there are still plenty and it doesn’t detract from the enjoyment of this book - more of her interactions with herself, as it were. Events occur that lead to Cleo doing more soul searching and self analysis, which leads to more examples of Cleo continuing to mature, learn and grow, then applying that extra growth and understanding to both herself and to her awareness and insights into others around her. Highlighting that looking within is the way to harness her strength, there are underlying lessons and truths for all of us to take from this story. Superb writing, as always, with twists and turns that have you wondering how on Earth (pun intended!) Cleo’s going to overcome them 😊 The more I read, the more absorbed and invested I became in the storyline - and I loved some of the touching moments Cleo had, esp one in particular that touched my heart! - of both this fab instalment and Cleo’s continuing magical midlife journey 😄
Citizens of Raven are disappearing. To save them, Cleo must go into the underworld, alone and without her magic. She must face the dead creatures and even the God of Death. The struggle Lynn Morrison presents in Cleo is so familiar: the confidence and certainty, the pain, the worry and self-doubt. It is what we all face in the hardest moments, and it is wrapped up in such an amazing story. I say this for almost all of the books by this author, but one thing I love about her writing is how real the characters are. They feel like people I know, or would like to know. They have a variety of personalities, experiences, and knowledge, but they are real. I love it. Highly recommended!
The story takes you fast and doesn't let go. Intriguing, funny, full of heart and guile. From book one, where you started a journey not planned, to this one, where you see Cleo embrace not just your present, but also the past that took her and her mentors to Raven. I can't wait to see what comes out next. The best part, no cliffhangers. This is a series of stories that keep you coming back for more, because there are so good.
Love the mythology woven into this series. Interesting depiction of the afterlife in this one as Cleo sets out to find her kidnapped and still living people in the world of the dead. Look forward to seeing Raven and all its inhabitants continue on their journey in the next story!
Cleo is getting stronger and all her lessons are paying off. Having to go i to the underworld is tough but the trip helps her realize her true power and she meets up with some interesting people along the way. Another great read.
The characters, the plot, the atmosphere combined with an unprecedented visit to the underworld combine to produce another great book in this series. Kudos to Lynn. Definitely going to recommend it to friends.
When over 100 residents of Raven disappear, Cleo is first mystified and then horrified when she finds that they have been taken into the underworld, quickly followed by being terrified when she realises that it will be up to her to bring them back. Somehow.
Exciting, fast paced, full of heart stopping moments and a clever conclusion to boot.
