OK,here is . . . if you read the finale I don't know that your life will be any better for it. If you skip it, I am sure you won't walk around with a hole in your soul. The first 4 books were so dark and complex, I was hoping the final would bring everything together including our star crossed lvoers. Well, the authors tossed in Christian issues and myths and ressurecting people . . . that honestly one character did not need to be resurrected. I suppose those things are fine if there is a real rational behind it . . . I guess tying Merlin's actions to his jeolousy about being overlooked . . . I don't know . . . it just seemed a bit overreaching. And then Holly ends up saving the day at the end . . .I am not sure how she was permitted to so when she was expresively told not to do so. Miraculously everyone converged on the same war sight with a quickness . . . I'm assuming portals were used (just not explained). I just got the feeling the authors wanted to through in some glits and sadness and wrap things up but too rushed . . . or something. I finished and just couldn't wrap my head around everything. But I am done with it . . .

Six years after the cliff-hanger ending of 'Spellbound', the authors complete the series with Resurrection. There is more bouncing about the globe (and through time) by various folk searching for other folk, more demons, more revelations, more fireballs, more death and destruction, and some rather dubious returns from the grave. The authors also wove into the story the olde English ballad, Scarborough Fair, which made me want to go burn my Simon & Garfunkle CD. Suffice to say it really didn't work well for me.

The series as a whole was kind of like popcorn: no real substance but once you start eating it almost impossible to stop until the bucket is empty. I think if I had been reading them as a teen before I had any real life experience of magic and witchcraft/Wicca I would probably have been enthralled by them and wanted more. Plus, I did enjoy Charmed and similar shows and they can be easily as convoluted and daft.

I was also pleased that the authors resisted the temptation to introduce vampires into the mix though there was a point I really thought they might. No, they've saved those for their new collaboration.

So overall, they proved entertaining enough and I didn't feel too much outrage at the authors' rather skew-whiffed take on witchcraft and Wicca. .

Ok, totally completely freaking loved this series and hate, hate, HATE that it's over. I'm extremely happy that it looks like Eli and Nicole are going to get back together. I always liked him best for her even when he was being evil. And may I say thank friggin' God that Jer stopped being a total pussy and finally admitted him and Holly were mean't to be together. It's sad that Holly's gonna be blind and stuck on that freaky council now forever :-P
And I wanna ask anybody who reads this review, if back in the old time even before Isabeau and Jean, why was there also an old version of Nicole and Eli, but Isabeau and Jean wanted to enter present day Eli and Nicole first and then when they couldn't get to them they went to Jer and Holly? And what exactly happened to old Eli and Nicole? If anybody knows the answer plz plz plz tell me!!! :)
Anyway, I totally loved the series and deffinately recommend it to everyone, boy or girl, young or old, because, literally, this is without a doubt one of the BEST book series I have EVER read! Enjoy!!! :) :) :)

This book was awful and I was pretty relieved to have finished it, bringing to an end the 1000 page + saga.

I have said before that the previous books were badly written, and that some of the plot points were pretty confusing. In this book they throw time travel and teleportation into the mix and it's just impossible to follow in many places. It's been very badly edited and since this book is mainly action that's a big problem.

Story-wise this is the most exciting of all 5 of the books, with the most interesting goings on, but this was not enough to save the book in my opinion. It seems as though the authors came up with an idea, but didn't think through how they would actually execute it. Either that or they both wrote their parts without consulting each other. A case in point is the whole central theme of the book - the war between the families of Cahors and Deveraux. It hadn't been explained properly in the first 4 books just why they were fighting. In this book we're told it's because of the Cahors massacre of the Deveraux following the marriage of Isabeau and Jean, that it's because a Moore warlock murdered an earlier Cahors-Deveraux couple and told each family that the other was responsible, that they were at war because the other covens had encouraged it to keep them from becoming too powerful, and finally that the God and Goddess themselves had pitted them against each other as part of a giant cosmic battle. Each explanation is presented in such a way that in the end you really don't know what to think, and not in that clever way that some books have where they leave the reader to make their own mind up, more like the authors had brainstrormed all these options and then accidentally written them all in.

In the hands of a more competant author and a better editor this would have been a fantastic series. Sadly though the poor execution has ruined a great story.

Ever since I read Wicked two years ago, I've been a fan of this series. It may not be every one's cup of tea, and the magic in these books are nothing like Harry Potter, quiet the opposite in fact, filled with darkness and evil, and you never quiet know which side everyone is on....But that's one of the things I enjoy so much about this series.

And Wicked: Resurrection was anything but a disappoint, a fitting conclusion to the series. After having the last two books leaving you hanging, wanting more, Holder and Viguie finally managed to wrap it all up nicely, leaving the reader satisfied. It may not have the traditional HEA (happily ever after), but this HEA matches the story and characters, and that's all that really matters, right?

I don't wish to give out any spoilers, from any of the three books, so I won't go into deep details. However, I will say that Resurrection manages to keep you guessing until the very end, throwing out new twists and characters just when you think you've managed to figure it all out.

Darkness and corruption is zeroing in on Amanda, Nicole and Holly, but with the right knowledge and by working together, only they (and Owen) can turn back the malicious Merlin from destroying the world and killing them. Yes, it may sound like 'just another save-the-world' kind of book, but if you read the series, starting with book one (very important for understanding and enjoying the series completely!), you'll soon find out that it's nothing like what you'd expect.

And to top it all off, besides the demons and magic and darkness, oh my!, Wicked: Resurrection has a nice dose of romance in it as well, between three separate couples. They may not have the perfect connection, and they all go through some really hard times, what with having ghosts from the past possess them and what not, but in the end, they stay together. And to me, that's what makes a romance more believable-- face it, none of us will ever have a relationship that doesn't have a few problems along the way, speed bumps that make us wonder 'Is it even worth it?'. But in the end, if you can survive the trip, the conclusion is well worth it.

4.5 STARS! Wicked: Resurrection is a stunning finale to a delicious fantasy series. I'll definitely be recommending this to friends and family, and anyone else whom I think would enjoy the darker elements in the book.

This series finally ended awesomely. It explained every thing. it just sort of rushed it all at the end. At times it was a little hard to follow due to all the time traveling with out people knowing it happened. Although I liked how that factored in. This was well worth the slowness at the begining.

I gave this book 3.7 stars out of 5.

This isn't a review its basically a very very, very long rant. Cause ya girl needs to vent. Also its very very spoiler filled.

A scientist found Hecate the cat Michael brought back from the dead. That can’t be good. Poor Hecate maybe she can find Nicole again. And she can’t be rekilled. The scientist knows about witches and he got the stuff from Hecate and brought back another cat. This isn’t going to be good.

Oh no the Dr is in love with Kari, he’s going to use the resurrection stuff that brought the cats back on Kari. I just know. Stupid Dr. I feel bad for the cats though.

Who is the Dr talking to? And what did she mean that Kari’s body hadn’t been recovered yet? She was killed at the Supreme Covens castle. How was her body not found?

Nicole’s baby is named Owen. Now all we need is his dad to be reveled.

Why did Pablo collapse, how did he know something was wrong with Philippe is he ok?

Who is this Rose chick why do they keep added new characters!! Ooh so that’s who she is. But why she is searching for Sasha and is she really going to give him Kari’s body so he can bring her back just so she can know the secret of how he did it ugh.

Wait did Eli seriously find Mary’s ring and what conjured her and baby Jesus spirits? I’m confused and what did he mean when he realized there where 4 magi? And why is Eli trapped in Avalon how did that even happen!

Why. Why would Nicole go with THE MOORE WARLOCK LAWYER!! God idiots. And why is she ok with being called a Moore why not drop the name! Ugh. And who is the kids father?!?

Are you kidding me she gave Owen who she doesn’t know the father of the Moore last name! Or did she just say that to get him inside. I wonder why Pablo sent a psychic distress call to Philippe.

Eve seriously offered Jer the the Throne of Bones. Probably why she’s looking for Eli to offer it to him.

If sir Williams is alive in the demon thing the why did the Moore lawyer find Nicole.

I love Pablo so much he is so innocent. I’m glad he realizes it was a mistake to go with Alex. But how was he able to see the future and why can’t he remember it.

I think Alex is making them attack his enemies. Not the Supreme Covens smaller factions. I think I’m wrong bough cause Eve said that Holly and them have the Supreme Coven in the run. I also don’t think there are any other Cahor witches.

How is Holly ok with kissing and dating her distant cousin. That is so disgusting even distantly related is still related. Gross.

Who opened the pit and killed the Swami and why? What was the point? Philippe saved Anne-Louise maybe they can help each other to find Nicole again.

So now Philippe has reason to believe that he’s Owen’s father. What’s the reason? He said before he didn’t think he was, I hope he is the father.

Wtf is wrong with Owen! How did he speak and why was he laughing like that and why and how did he do magic like that? Is Owen evil? Is he getting it from Nicole like Tommy and Amanda suggested, or is it the house or is his dad really nearby? Who is in the house asking Amanda for help?

I can’t believe he brought Kari back to life. But why was she in Hell? And why does she act and look dead inside? Did something go wrong? And what does she mean “and I’m still dead.”

How the hell did a dragon, a dragon! Crawl up from the fissure? Hell? At the Moore house? Seriously! A dragon.

That was a...odd time for Tommy to ask Amanda to marry him but whatever works.

What is going on with Amanda? And why don’t they just leave that stupid house.
I wonder why Amanda is dreaming but no one else is.

What’s up with the demons going after Armand? Is the guy Armand is talking about the one that got dropped into the fissure that opened in his tent? Nope it’s not never mind.

Who is this Dark One?

A book of prophecy’s. But why does the voice in her head want her to hide it. And who is the voice in her head.

It seems like the only one that doesn’t have a past life/ ancestor who is the in the present time is Amanda.

Is Kari really back from the dead cause even she says he just made the dead-her- walk again. Or does she just feel dead?

And where is she going? I wonder if she can’t be re-killed like that cats. Wait Kari can talk to the cats, is that because they where all brought back from the dead? Is that why Kari is going to England to find Nicole hope that she can make them live again. Why does she think Nicole could do it? Holly is more powerful. I feel bad that they are leaving Osiris, Hecate wants him? to come.

I feel bad for Kari and the cats, they didn’t ask to die or be brought back to life. Im guessing since Kari was dead so long that, that’s why she’s having trouble speaking and writing.

Is Hecate magical, did she somehow keep the cab from coming so Kari could do…that to Osiris so he could come. I know he can’t die but still. I’m having trouble understanding this their alive but really dead thing.

So the prophet book says Owen will bring the end of the world if he lives to be a man. Greeaatt.
So in 13th century France Karienne was pregnant with Jean’s baby before she left. Ever since Alex changed the timeline by saving June’s twin brothers nothing has been said about it!

I thought nobody could enter the grounds of Moore house unless it was a Moore. How did Kari did it? Is it cause she’s dead?

What’s up with the starting between Hecate and Owen and why wouldn’t she go to Richard?

Nigel put a GPS tracker in Kari’s body. Are you kidding me? Psycho much!

Who did Holly bear praying to the Horned God? I thought it was Alex but I can’t be sure. And where is Armand.

All it took was for Eve to yell at Jer and for a kid to give him a teddy bear to make him stop the self pity? Could have done that 3 books ago.

Why does Amanda, Nicole, and Tommy keep singing the Scarborough song/spell. And what does Kari mean by dungeon?

Where do all these things keep coming from! First a dragon now a yowie! How did Amanda know to kill it? They should have left a long time ago.

So what was the reason that Sir William demon self thing, attack the Temple of the Air? It never said or if they found him or the other way around. Pablo better be ok.

How does Eve know Holly is in trouble?

How did Kari know that Owen would die if they didn’t go back to Moore house? And why did Owen get so sick when they left?

Why the hell does Nicole want Eli to show up, and reminiscing about when they dated when she has Philippe?

How did Kari know someone was coming? How does she just know things?

Finally the past being changed is brought up! At least Anne-Louise told Nicole and Amanda the truth about Alex. Now they just have to find Holly.

Anne-Louise thinks Alex is Duc Laurent!! How? Why? When!!

If there living in the wrong timeline does that mean they will go back to their right one? And will Nicole’s reminiscing about Eli go away? Would Owen go away too? Why would Laurent go back in time and save 2 Cahor witches? It makes no since.

So Holly and Whisper the cat goddess can set the timeline right? That’s why the cat wants to find Holly? What is the cat goddess going to do to her about Hecate?

So Alex really IS Duc Laurent. If that vision Jer has and what he said after is true. But I still don’t understand why he went back in time and saved June’s twin brothers, he wants all the Cahor dead. Or he used too. At least Jer knows the past was changed.

How did Jer get to Holly and the others so fast? Well it only took Holly being in thrall with him to know he isn’t Alex.

Jer’s dream of Holly drowning him was a premonition. Laurent made holly kill her! How can Pablo and Armand’s God bring Jer back? Why does Eve want him alive?

Ok so holly made a deal with Catherine to bring Jer back, Catherine will come to holly later and demand a price. What was the light that came from Holly? Are Jer’s scares healed now? Cause Holly said they were.

Why is Holly feeling the fire that burned Jer?

EVE IS A DEVERAUX?!?!?!? How is she related to them? Through Karienne’s baby? Cause Jean was the father.

Who was calling for Kari? And why tell her to steal from Ann-Louise and go to France?

How did Eli and Philippe get to Jer and the others so quickly? If the black fire does kill the Duc does everything go back to how it was supposed to? Does time fix itself?

WTH!! How did Amanda and Tommy get to Jer and the others?? They were just in the heart of Moore house!

Where the heck did Holly go?! How did she shoot electricity out of her eyes!

So the spell Amanda and Tommy did a while ago made the portal that took them to India.

So Eli and Nicole’s ancestors where being the whole Scarborough fair song and tasks.

Wait! Did the whole feud between the Cahor and Deveraux start because a Moore has murdered Elijah and Nicolette and blamed the other houses. Did he really kill them both?

The death of Catherine’s older sister Nicolette and the death of Laurent’s older brother Elijah made them into what they where in Jean and Isabeau’s time.

So Owen killed the bird but I have a hard time believing that Nicole is going to kill him. But why would she take him to the inner sanctum and to it there? Inside Moore house?

How did Sasha get back? And alive? Who brought her there? So the prophecy about Owen was a lie? But why did he do all those things? Why would Merlin write a false prophecy to change time? Why was Owen glowing is he good? Why was Merlin going to kill Sasha!?

Where did Holly disappear too? How did she disappear? Is eve dead? What is Laurent so afraid of? Did he kill Jer!?

Why and how does everyone disappear and then reappear somewhere else!? It’s annoying! Why does Owen have a halo? Will we find out who his dad is ever??

Who are the blind justices and why’d they take Nicole? What-how did Owen send Nicole to the blind justices and why?

So Owen had another name and they know who kid father is and that he wasn’t supposed to be there/happen. But why punish Nicole she had nothing to do with the changing of the past. That was Laurent!!

So the Moore ancestor never killed Nicolette and Elijah cause their married in Japan and helping the empire with his enemies. And they have two kids. I’m so confused. So the blind justices made Nicolette, Elijah, Marie, and Louis disappear. Cause there magic together was too strong and they upset the balance by messing with time? I think I understand that. So the Cahor and Deveraux believed the other killed them. But I’m confused about Nicolette seeing Holly in a vision and saying not to let it happen.

Everyone but Holly and Nicole are reunited in house Moore.

Oh my god. Anne-Louise and Eve are Deveraux twins!!! Ann-Louise is a Deveraux!! But she doesn’t know they where separated cause their power could tip the scales. Ones a witch in the Mother Coven one was with the Supreme Coven.

Not again, how did Tommy and Amanda find Kari and how did they get to France so fast? Why is Merlin in their time talking to Kari? Dr Temar needs to die already.

Why does Merlin want Owen so bad? Omg is Merlin, Owen’s dad? Is he the thing that got Nicole pregnant on Avalon? Why is he talking to Kari and wanting her to bring him Owen? How can he even talk to her? Is it cause she’s dead?

So Merlin is Owen’s father!! That means the mist/shadow/thingy that flew in Nicole when she was on Avalon was him and he somehow got her pregnant but why? Why bother getting her pregnant? Why does he want a child?

Are you kidding me the blind justices are all about balance but you telling me they didn’t notice that one of their own A MOORE was the one sabotaging, changing time, alerting Merlin everything! And they didn’t know?!

Since they got rid of Xavier Moore they want holly to take his place! Ugh why?

Nicole being sent back to house Moore and coming face to face with Philippe her thrall/true love and Eli who is still in live with her. Awkward.

The goddess and the justices are forcing holly to join them and if she doesn’t everyone she loves dies. Holly won’t be able to see Jer or her family and friends again. Or help them.

WTF!! Did Philippe just die? To save Eli!!! I better be wrong so help me. Why? Why kill Philippe? He was the best choice for Nicole. If she gets together with Eli I’m so done.

Nicole begging Holly to help save Eli and not try to bring Philippe back just proves how much she didn’t deserve Philippe.

My heart broke for Holly and Jer he admits to loving her wants to be in thrall with her asks her say sorry for how he treated her but it’s too late. Stupid blind justices.

Lawyer Derek knows about Eve and Ann-Louise being Deveraux twins. Why else look at them like he did. Well he’s apparently in love with Eve.

Everyone’s there for the final battle even Bast and Frey, Nicole’s new cat, and Hecate and Osiris. Plus angles? Really. Luna from the mother coven was shamed to come. Pitiful. And lawyer Derek is helping along with the bird familiars of Cahor and Deveraux plus a ghost army. The ghosts of Dan, Kialish, and Marie-Claire are in the ghost army! Marie gave Richard her magic to use!!

Eli has changed. He admitted to Nicole that Philippe was a good man and that he wasn’t. He knows and is ok with the fact that Nicole will always love Philippe and Eli wants to work to regain her love.

Dang Jer has golems, dragons, everyone who died in the ghost army. He’s going all out. What person and mystical animals/beings doesn’t he have geez.

Why is Catherine Cahor on the side of Merlin and Laurent? She hates the Deveraux why is she on their side when all her Cahor family are on Jer’s? Ha sir William is on Jer’s side!!!! I never saw that coming!!!

The horned god is in the fight now are you kidding me! The goddess is in the fight and she just killed 2 of their own wth! Why did she kill Rose she worshipped her and sir William was on their side! Omg Isabeau possesses Nicole and Kean possesses Eli and they killed each other! Nicole and Eli are dead! Stupid selfish Isabeau and Jean!

How the hell did Owen get to the battlefield? He was at Moore house with Nigel Temar, how is he on Jer’s arms Jer protecting him? Sasha was killed by the goddess she worshipped! Why is the goddess killing her followers. None of this is right!

It wasn’t about the Cahor and Deveraux feud it was the goddess and the horned God’s feud. They just recruited magic families. But who is this higher being that Holly really severs? Is that who is speaking through Kari or are the ghost warriors speaking through her?

Isabeau brought Nicole and Eli back to life in gratitude for freeing them. Jean killed or sent Catherine to hell and Jer killed Laurent. I still want to know how Owen got to the battle.

Merlin blinded Holly. At least they know how to banish him. Kari redeemed herself she tackled Merlin.

Luna’s dead, Rose and sir William are dead, Kari and Sasha, Nigel Temar. The death toll wasn’t too bad.

This book contradicts itself it said Kari couldn’t be killed yet Merlin killed her by cutting her head off I don’t get it.

Holly got to see her dad again even if he was a ghost. I thought Owen and Temar were in Moore house but maybe I was wrong.

Ann-Louise is the mother coven leader! Armand is going back to the priest hood! Holly is still a justice and blind now but Jer is going with her!! Nicole was right glad he stopped being a idiot.

Omg my heart!! Richard is adopting Pablo and taking him fishing I’m so happy for my babies!!

This review is going to be a little quick. But I stand by on what I said in the first two books. The only difference with this book is the way the explanation of the feud between the two families.

In the first four books we know that the Cahors massacred the Deveraux family after the marriage of Isabeau and Jean failed to produce a child for the Deveraux and failed to give the Cahors the secret of the Black Fire.

But in this book, it turns out that a warlock murdered an Cahors & Deveraux couple that was apparently already married earlier and told each family that the other killed the couple. Who also told them that they were at war because the other covens had wanted them to kill each other to keep them from becoming too powerful.

I'm sorry but . . . really? We are going to go with a 'misunderstanding & misinformed' story? Why? Wouldn't it be more interesting if they just hated each other because of their greed?

I felt that this was a cop-out and this is just to make the families seem not as evil and cruel. Seriously?

We also have this other part of the story dealing with the God and Goddess but I honestly didn't care about that.

So the ending was a little disappointing but other than that . . . meh.

The end of the feud is here. With our cast of characters spread across the globe, all working toward the end, it's up to fate if they win or lose this battle.

For Holly, she's with Alex and the Temple of Air fleshing out covens of warlocks and defeating them all. Alex still wants to be in thrall with her, and Holly is still reluctant because of her love for Jer. Armand and Pablo are still with her, but both are uneasy in this new alliance.

For Amanda and Nicole, they have taken up residence in the Moore estate, that is rightfully Nicole's as Justin's widow. Trying to raise her son, Owen, Nicole has taken to motherhood but something is still not right. Amanda feels the evil the house and when she finds a book of prophesies, one that specifically talks about Owen and how he will end the world, she and Nicole contemplate killing the baby but neither can do it.

As the final battle draws near, the girls and their friends will pay the ultimate price for their survival and the survival of the world. Defeating the army of the dead that Merlin raises will be the death of some of them.

I was not a fan of how the whole series ended...like at all....

At the end of book 4 we took a new plot line and then somehow tied it into book 5 but there was just too much going on. It didn't need all this extra stuff with little detail. We strayed from witchcraft to religions and that's where it lost me.

(sigh) I might be insane, expecting a subpar book series to improve. Frankly speaking, if I didn't already have this book checked out from a library near my dad's home, I probably wouldn't even bother reading it. Luckily, this is the last book of the series. Before I began reading, I did a slight skimming. Still no character cast, still no family tree... and still just too much going on without enough emotional development.

Those of you who have read my previous reviews*, you're probably already aware of what I view the biggest problems to be. Can I read this book without losing my mind? Well, here goes nothing...

Resurrection. Let's go. I see that chapter titles are named after spices, with the exception of the first chapter, named Gold. Although I guess small editable gold exists if you're fabulously wealthy, but I digress... (looks at chapter five) This one is called Frankincense? Why is that in there? They can't even stay consistent with their chapter themes...

Still, most of the poetry is on point. Exhibit A- chapter four, Basil;

The prologue was kinda strange. It felt more like an epigraph or something with all the poetry lines. But how does it connect to the events in this book? Is it about Holly and Jer's relationship?

(upon reaching chapter one) The aftermath of war... Holly is battered and damaged. Jer perhaps even more so. And Will we ever learn who the father is? It could be Phillipe (even if it's unlikely), Eli, or even I don't remember him being killed though. Either my memory is foggy there or the authors are backtracking...

(looks at pg 16) Wasn't Holly's element already determined to be water, with Jer being earth and Phillipe being fire? Another major continuity error. (sigh) And why is Owen given the surname It doesn't make any sense, as we don't know the baby's father and wants nothing to do with her or his family in any way. Two continuity errors within two chapters...

We get a list of dead heroes, which is nice to see considering the cast is way too large to keep track of. But why is Holly accepting from someone who's supposed to be her cousin?! Even if the epilogue of Spellbound tells us it's not , he's still stringing her along. And she doesn't even resist it? (Why am I reading this garbage?!) Furthermore, why didn't Holly or anyone else question it?! That should have been a red flag for Holly and everyone who saw it happen!

Hearing Daniel Cathers's thoughts as a spirit was kinda sad yet sweet. And what the hell is happening with Owen?

A little later, we get a very satisfying piece of lore; So there are "natural born" magicians (those who inherit magic powers from their parents) and "borrowers" (those who learn the practice of magic through close contact with someone with magic). That would explain how Kari was able to use spells, as well as Sasha and some other characters. But as nice as this is, shouldn't we have got this information much sooner? Like the 1st or 2nd book? Maybe third at the very latest. It feels like this comes, too little, too late. At least we get an explanation for

(looks at pg 243) Nicole, are you sure about that? You've been attacked twice, including by your These characters have no brains...

And why couldn't Holly It makes no sense... (a little later) So Alex Carruthers is actually Truth be told, despite having written that in one of my previous reviews, I kinda forgot about that story-telling element where Still, that would explain a lot. But again, I have to ask, is any of this really necessary? And what happened to him by the end, as the big bad turns out to be...

And are Phillipe and Eli really dead by drowning? They're not, but Poor Phillipe... Can't really say I care much for Anne-Louise and Eve being

And Holly's really considering binding herself via the Lord and Lady ritual to her cousin? Why?! It makes no sense. She had already and she fucking hated it! Gosh damn it...

How is Holly I swear this story... She doesn't even need to be Deveraux to conjure Black Fire, as (a bit later) Another unnecessary flashback, with Nicolette and Elijah... STILL introducing us to characters we can't possibly remember... But (sigh)

(sigh) This book just doesn't make any sense! And was actually killed or not? They keep making continuity error after error!

The House of Blind Justices existing seems really unnecessary, especially I don't understand this book...

(during the finale) It feels forced as hell, just to show everyone that she's not powerless. And I feel like Nicole and Eli in the present won't work out well. But at least there's finally peace I suppose. But what happened to Armend having to choose between the Christian God above and the Goddess to fully worship? It feels like that character arc was dropped entirely, and thus, never should have been mentioned in the first place.

The ending just... it was okay, but it could have been a lot better. How I convinced myself to read this is something even I don't know...

My brain doesn't feel melted or broken, although I fear I might have lost some of my brain cells. It just feels like this book... is too much and too little at the same time. Not enough emotional depth and too much in terms of characters and events. It's shallow... Empty. I just feel... disappointment. (If nothing else, I read this book so you don't have to!)

Honestly, I'm not even sure what I'd do to fix this story. Other than that, I got nothing. The series is fundamentally flawed.

Resurrection was largely unnecessary, had maybe a few good things, but it wasn't nearly enough. The last and least in the series. In the hands of a better writer or group, this might have been a great series. But as it stands, it's far, far from it.

Rating: 0.5/5 stars (Rounding to 1 star for several continuity errors and overall lack of intelligence because 0 stars can't be given)

Overall, this book and its series... it's not great. The first book or two had so much potential to start a great series, but the authors never overcame the flaws the first and second books had and it only deteriorated from there. It can be best described as; A very cool concept, but a rather poor execution. This book and series isn't just a failure of one writer, it is a failure of two writers and a failure of collaboration. I can't see myself reading another book by either one of these authors, separate or together.

This book brought me little joy or satisfaction. Therefore, I feel it is best to banish this book back to the place from where it came! Resurrection, be gone, return to the building from where you came, never to return to my home!

(banishes book by putting in my car to be returned to its home library)

If you want a series with several kinds of magic, real character growth and depth, and casts that aren't overly crowded, I'd recommend The Witchlands** series by Susan Dennard. Or, if you don't mind a prequel series, try A Tale of Magic and its sequels, all by Chris Colfer. If you're thinking about reading this series, don't. You can do better. I can do better.

*See author's reviews over Wicked: Witch & Curse, and Wicked: Legacy & Spellbound.

**As of the time of writing, I have read the first three books of the series, plus the side novella Sightwitch, and have enjoyed them all. I hope to read the 4th installment Witchshadow and any other sequels soon.

I don't usually write reviews with spoilers, but this one definitely deserves to be an exception.

Going back, if you successfully forced yourself to read book one, congratulations! It was one of the most boring books ever and I just kept hoping it would get better and it just didn't. Book two was slightly better, but it still had issues. If you haven't read book one, you can just skip it as all the important stuff is rehashed enough that you can understand what is going on without reading it. Book three was actually not bad and I sometimes did want to pick it up and read it. Book 4 was the best of the bunch and they really should have stopped there. So, on to THIS book...

Resurrection...to start, why bring back Kari, no one liked her and she didn't really bring anything to this story. She would randomly say a word or two and then everyone would take what she said as gospel...and speaking of gospel, there was way too much Christianity in this. The Magi, Satan...and making Merlin the fourth Magi AND Satan?? What's up with that?? How could he even BE both of them?? The Merlin I've always heard about was a good wizard, not an evil warlock out to destroy the world. Bringing back Eli and Nicole at the end was nice and all, but not exactly realistic in the grand scheme of things. I mean, they can all do magic and conjure things, but there are some things that just can't be done. All the loose ends were pretty well tied up, Holly's dad, Richard's wife, Armand, Pablo, etc. Everyone got their happy ending after yet another epic final battle.

All in all, if you're determined to read the series, skip book one. The rest of them aren't terrible. This one was kind of far removed from the others. I guess the characters had growth and development, but I didn't actually care about any of them, so it didn't matter to me. I was thoroughly underwhelmed by the end of this book and they should have stopped at book four. Good luck if you still decide to read all five of them.

I wasn't sure if I was going to continue the series, due to being so disgusted with Holly at this point. However, when I found this book at Goodwill and realized it was the last in the series, I decided to persevere. There are a lot of different side plots going on, which got a little confusing at times, but it was also good, because if you didn't like what was going on, it would change in a few pages. I liked that this book focused more on Amanda and Nicole. They move in to the Moore house, which Nicole inherited from her late husband, with her new son, Owen, their father, and Amanda's boyfriend, Tommy. The scenes of them living in the house as a family were probably my favorite parts, and also the house, which is basically a castle, is pretty cool. 🏰 Having been rejected by Jer in the last book, Holly has gone off with her "cousin," Alex. Alex expresses a romantic interest in her, and they kiss. We found out in the last book that he is lying about his identity. I'm not sure where their family trees are supposed to split, but I think he would be at least a 3rd cousin, if it were even true. I think if he was referred to as her distant cousin and not just her cousin, it would be less weird. The reason this union would be desirable is they can combine their power and become stronger. She would do a lot worse than make out with a potential relative for power, so whatever. Lol. Since so much of this story has to do with time travel, I was really hoping that Sasha would just go back in time and kill Michael Deveraux. None of these terrible things would have ever happened. Holly's parents would have never died. Amanda and Nicole's mom would still be alive. Holly would have never become a cat murderer. All the people that died in the magical battles would still be alive. I think that would have been a better ending than what they came up with, personally. Sasha even thought about it before the time travel device was taken away from her. So close...⏳⌛🤦‍♀️

Aww Wicked what can I say....

I can say it was wicked hard to get through this. Those wicked writers did a terrible job! This final book was all over the place. I felt like I should have been taking notes.

People just popping up outta nowhere, storylines that mixed but seemed to be all over the place. (Yes, I know I repeated that statement, this book requires it).

This book had every magical being possible. Almost like there was many book ideas crammed into one. Hey let's throw in some dragons, sprinkle some vampires here, gotta add ghosts of ghosts, a teaspoon of angels, don't forget the demon/angel/mystery baby.
Also, let's slip the possession ghosts into 2 totally different people and act as if this wasn't the first time.

Holly, all powerful doer of nothing, ends up as a justice. The justices- who for over 600 years have failed to stop ANYTHING- suddenly jump in to maintain balance of good and evil. They made Holly one of them and forbade her from ever seeing Jer again. For all of eternity, she must abandon her love for him in order to save her entire clan of family and friends. By the end of the book they (Holly and Jer) are riding off to the castle the Justices conjured FOR them?!

Forgive me if this makes little sense, that was the nature of this book....

....This series....

....These authors....

The epitome of watching a car crash : y'know it's bad, but you can't look away from it.

I can see the appeal of this series, especially when I was younger. The dysfunctional 'lovers' being reincarnated, the lore of the witches and warlocks, etc. Even though this technically came prior/around the supernatural and/or fantasy romance fad like Twilight, this is exactly that.

"Love blinds all" can be applied to these characters, and the train-wreck of the events that follow. True, I haven't exactly caught up with this series since '12; but honestly even with that time gap, it doesn't excuse the jarring narrative.

Kudos to the readers who can enjoy this though. I guess now that I'm older, it's just not my cup of tea anymore.

There are lots of characters in this book, but they are grouped together and are written about in different countries, times, some people being possessed by others. It was difficult to keep track of what time - ie year - they are in. I liked the idea and the plot but was difficult to keep everyone in line.

I listened to this book series through audible. They chose the worst narrator. She had a childlike voice and she's reading about demons and death... It didn't work. Other than that there was a lot of jumping around between people. This one was better about letting you know there was a switch between scenes and who would be in that scene.

Honestly, the best book of all. To be honest, got myself confused a couple of times but the book eventually explained itself. If you want to read this series...honestly read book #5 and that’s it. You’ll be happy with the end. I know everyone have different tastes when it comes to stories...but to me if I knew, I surely have skipped books #1 to #4. Good ending!

I'm going to be honest I finished this book about ten minutes ago and I already cannot say what happened in the first half. It kept finding new, absurd ways to jump the shark and be incorrect about any religion it touched. It feels very unedited and like it wanted to retcon the very premise of the first several books

I get that the authors were going for an epic tale through space and time with this series. However, it seems that they must have been constrained by the publishers or something because this series needed more space than five books could give. Unfortunately, the result is a rushed, jumbled story with too much soap opera energy.

Only read this book to finish of the series. While I enjoyed the first couple of books, this book I just couldn’t get into like the others. While I do feel like the battle was almost necessary to help close up the story, I also think that I could have been done within the 4th book.
