The Seaside Chronicle
July 12, 2022

Buzz Bait

Seasiders,

News on the docks is Adelaide Bradley is back in Seaside, and rumor has it she’s here to stay! (No ring was spotted on her finger, I might add!) After eight long years of living in the big city and working for Massachusetts General, she has decided to return to the shores. One can only imagine how thrilled Barbara and Keegan are to have their oldest daughter back.

But it makes you wonder if Adelaide will continue to peruse her nursing career or is she here to help at her family’s restaurant, The Seaside Grill.

A little seagull has planted in my ear that Gannon Wilson is taking the news rather well, considering Adelaide broke his heart all those years ago. I did notice Gannon has been working more than usual, piloting that precious cargo through our ship channel. Maybe he is picking up extra hours to purchase a piece of jewelry, considering he was seen in Reef Jewelers only days ago.

We’re rooting for the two of them to reunite at least as friends. Everyone knows the former homecoming king and queen had a bright future ahead of them until…well…that’s another story for another issue, Seasiders!

Fair winds and following seas!

They decide to break up as they are pursuing their careers and are heading off in different directions.

“Right now, I can’t honestly think of having anyone else in my life, Addie. I also don’t expect the two of us to remain saints, either. You’re going off to college, and I’m heading into the military.”
I sighed and dropped back in my seat. “Should we make some kind of pact that if we’re still single by forty, we marry each other?”

During separation

We’d kept in touch religiously for five years, writing, texting, and hooking up when we were both single and in Seaside. Then life got crazy, and the texts and calls came less and less.

Mmmm -- meh! Too many secondary character interruptions to really get a well-developed main storyline. And then there's that ending that just leaves readers baffled. Not sure I'm going to continue this series.

I think that this book is the perfect start to the "Seaside Chronicles" series. I had a lot of fun with reading it. Especially with the gossips that go around town for the main couple.

For Adelaide and Gannon this was a second chance in love. Before everything they are friends just before they become lovers. They both promised that after everyone succeed in their lives and jobs they will be back in their home town and be with each other. Even though they both have been with other people during the years apart, they've never stopped loving each other.

I am actually quite interested by the secondary characters and I can't wait for the other books to come out. Boy, they will be soo damn good. I am sure of it 😍.

Returning Home is the first book in the Seaside Chronicles series and is a sweet and satisfying return-to-hometown romance. Get ready to experience small-town romance as only Kelly Elliott can do it. With steamy romance, small-town feels, and light drama, Returning Home is sure to find its place in heart of romance lovers.

Losing your first love is never easy. Addie and Gannon met in their freshman year of high school and knew that the love they shared was one for the books. Not wanting to give up on their dreams, Addie and Gannon decide to break up and decide if it’s meant to be, they’ll find their way back to each other.

Addie and Gannon’s story was one for the books. I loved how genuine their feelings were for one another and how their love withstood the time they were apart. From the first time you meet Addie and Gannon, you could tell they were meant to be together. I loved seeing them grow and pursue their careers and ultimately find their way back to where they were meant to be.

Now no love story is 100% perfect, and Gannon and Addie did have some light drama and small-town gossip to contend with, but they didn’t let the drama take over and destroy their love.

In the end, Returning Home was just the sweet romance that I was hoping it would be. It gave me all the small-town and swoony feels I was looking for. Not to mention, it perfectly sets up the next book in the Seaside Chronicles series. I for one can not wait to find out what happens next.

Just imagine if you and your first love broke up. Amicably. And remained friends. And promised that if fate meant for it to be, you’d wind up together. And fate decided yeah, this is good. Because that’s Addie and Gannon to a T! Their story is the start of a new series that is sure to bring a whole lot of angst and fun and misery and love and maybe some danger to the table, and I’m here for every second of it!

Addie and Gannon managed to avoid the drama of past relationships, even with the gossip of the town paper making all sorts of assumptions about their reality. And that’s part of the glory here. Two people who knew they were meant to be, but the time was wrong. And they also knew when the time was right. So they took a breath, jumped, and made it work. Along the way, they bring their siblings and friends for us to meet and wonder who’s wanting who, who’s gotten who, and who the heck writes that gossip column! I adored the easy adjustments and ability to communicate that Addie and Gannon shared and I can’t wait to find out what is really going on with Sutton and Brody. Because there’s definitely a lot there.

Addie and Gannon were high school sweethearts, however, they both had different plans and goals for their future. Instead of trying to make things work, then end up breaking up with a hope that the future will bring them back together.

The love these two have for each other is beautiful and charming. I loved their story. Their chemistry. The way they cared about each other. I couldn’t get enough of it. I love that their breakup wasn’t full of drama and animosity, just the pain of letting go of the person you love.

I am counting down the days to return back to this small town and lovable characters!

If you’re looking for a small town, second chance romance this is one to check out.

Five stars for this new series by the amazingly talented Kelly Elliott. Returning Home is a heartwarming second chance romance that will have you laughing, have you swooning and have you falling in love. These new characters are very likable. I can’t wait for the next books in this series because these are not stand-alone books. You get a new couple but the story line is all connected.

Gannon and Adelaide were high school sweethearts who amicably broke up after their senior year. But as fate would have it Adelaide is back and Gannon is so excited to have his girl home. Now is the time he has been waiting for. Adelaide knows her heart belongs to Gannon and she hopes that they can rekindle their relationship when she moves back home.

We follow along as these two learn new things about each other. But these two can’t do anything without it ending up in the weekly gossip column of the Seaside Chronicle. This is where everyone gets to know about everyone’s business.

This new series is really addicting…they way each character is introduced has you flipping the pages to find out more. Kelly Elliott remains the small town romance Queen!

Highly recommended!

Addie and Gannon are a second chance romance that are really a foregone conclusion. Both of them want to be together, and both of them are fully aware that the only thing keeping them apart is geography.

So, once Addie moves back to town, they pretty much pick up where they left off. There was something great about this, and also it did feel that it took away some of the intensity of them getting back together. Not in a way that made me lose interest in the title, but some of the romance was lost at the beginning.

That said, this book was more about watching their relationship grow and develop, which I did enjoy and it felt a little different.

I enjoyed and recommend this title.

I hate to give a rating of only 2 stars to a Kelly Elliott book. I didn’t hate it, I just wasn’t entertained by it. Aside from one issue that was resolved so quickly that it was almost a nonissue, not much happened. When it begins, the couple have already broken up and he’s leaving for the Navy. Although I suppose I can understand why they decided to separate, what I did not understand is why it took them so long to get back together. He was home after his time in the Navy for years before they got back together. If they loved each other so much why didn’t one of them seek the other out when he was discharged? They’d already “realized their dreams” so seeking each other out seems reasonable. I bought neither their reason for separating nor their reason for staying apart for so long. Add to that, the fact that not much of any importance happens throughout the book, no excitement other than that one quickly resolved nonissue, this makes for a 1 or 2 star rating. I added the second star because I was interested enough to finish it, hoping for something, anything, to happen. The fact that it took me 3 days to finish this book is proof that it just didn’t interest me. To me, the most interesting thing that happened in this book was at the very end—the set up for the next book. Now, that one seems like it’ll be a good one!

I was in mood of sweet reads so, “Returning Home” by Kelly Elliot was a perfect option. If you have read this author, you know that she is a specialist in sweet, entertaining stories that leave a good taste in your mouth. “Returning Home” is the story of Adelaide Bradley and Gannon Wilson, high school sweethearts who everyone hoped would end up getting married. However Addie left and with it, their relationship fractured. Years later she returns, and many things have changed. Gannon is a Navy Seal, a responsible member of the community. Addie has put her career as a birthing nurse on hold to help the family business and reconnect with herself. But what has not changed are the feelings. Love prevails, sparks flare, and neither of them can afford to miss out on trying to get back together.

Gannon has a magnetic personality, despite his job he has his feet firmly planted on the ground and knows he wants Addie back. She has a heart of gold, she is a born caregiver. And she knows that there is no other person for her other than Gannon. I liked them both individually and as a couple, and if we add the factor of secondary characters, I can tell you that I am looking forward to “Part of me”.

4.5⭐️

This was a wonderful start to a new series in small town NewEngland, a beautiful setting. Second chance romance with some heat and a few good laughs along the way. The introduction to many new characters and setting of the story was well done.

Adelaide and Gannon were the it couple as they ended high school but knowing that their goals and plans were taking them in different directions, they decided to let each other go. If it is meant to be, when the time is right they will make their way back to each other. Gannon is back home after his tour in the military doing the job he knew would be his career. Adelaide is a loving and caring nurse but recognizes something is missing. Heading home to help with the family resturant and find her new direction she wants to be close to her family. Is this the time for them to be together? Only time will tell.

Looking forward to more from this new series.

Everyone should know that Kelly is my go-to for sweet, second-chance books. This book is one I love with a hometown feel to it. I loved how everyone knew each other and how some couldn't stay out of other peoples business. The column in the paper made me giggle, especially with Addie and Gannon's reaction to it.

Gannon and Addie loved each other hard when they were kids and didn't break up for the reasons that people assumed, guessed or just made up. When they went their separate ways they weren't sure if they would make it back to each other before one of them was taken.

Addie is back and it's not long before they're seen in each others company. Tongues are wagging and the column in the paper can't get enough. This book definitely hits my sweet and second chance romance. Love it and can't wait for the next book!!

Let’s be honest if you are a Kelly Elliott fan it’s exciting when she announces she has a new series coming out, well Returning Home (The Seaside Chronicles #1) is everything you would expect from this very talented romance author. This is the start of something very special !!!!!
This is Adelaide (Addie) Bradley and Gannon Wilson’s story and it’s set in the small town of
Seaside ( I love this name). This couple have a past, they loved and they walked away but fate seems intent on pushing them together so will the second time around be any better, will love win this time around….one click to find out.
This book ticked all my boxes, I adored Addie and I fell hard and fast for Gannon, I love Seaside and it’s residents and what can I say about The Seaside Grill apart from I want to work there. Looking forward to what’s coming next out if this small town.

Returning Home by Kelly Elliott was a second chance romance that was sweet and charming and a great start to a new series. Adelaide and Gannon shared a special kind of love, but they also had dreams. Though they knew they loved each other, but they let the other go and knew if they were meant to be they would find their way back. Years later they are both back home and the chemistry and connection is still there. I loved watching them getting to know each other again and spend time together. Their story was light, fun, and sweet and I just loved the characters. I loved this story and am so excited to continue this series.

Happy reading!

I’ve got to say, I feel like this could’ve been a prequel instead of the first book of the series.

I guess I can appreciate in some level the slight different take on Second Chance trope on this book, but Second Chance without any kind of conflict and angst kinda loses at lot of its charm to me. Specially since they got together so quickly and still had slim to none conflict whatsoever after it.

I still enjoyed their scenes but I feel like that had a big impact on my lack of attachment to them and I sense they’ll probably be my least favorite from this series.

All those future couples that I’m sure we’ll see in upcoming books totally stole the show and I can’t wait to get to all of them.

If you need a sweet, cute, no drama, small town romance this is it! These two split to go their separate ways after HS and come back and start where they left off. I’m already a fan of this place- Maine with some dangerous jobs and great families! The only drama so far is the town gossip page- which is super fun, funny, and adds in more light into this plot!

This does a good job of setting up the series and so you meet a lot of people, but can see where Kelly is going with it all. I’m excited for the rest of the series and to see who ends up with who!

This was about high school sweethearts that decided to break up so they each could pursue their dreams. They promise each other that fate will bring them back together again and this happens 8 years later when both return to their small town home. It was an okay read mostly about how much the two MCs love each other with a brief moment of angst when the MMC has an accident at work and the running commentary of the mystery town gossip who is causing frustration for all characters. I do like Kelly’s writing so I might read the next book in the series.

A whole new world to fall in love with! & I 100% fell in love with it. The characters, the seaside town & the stories I already know will be amazing. Starting with Addie & Gannon was perfect. I’m usually not a huge fan of second chance romances but this one was so sweet. It was realistic & such a good read! I love these characters & I’m already so excited for the next book. That ending was a huge shocker so I can’t wait!

5/5 || i saw someone’s review say this book was both sweet and satisfying and it is completely both. it was such a heartwarming read. i loved reading about addie and gannon rekindle their relationship like no time had passed. at first i though i wouldn’t enjoy that part, where they would just get back together straight away but i genuinely enjoyed it. i loved reading a romance with no drama, and meeting lovable characters who i cannot wait to read about. the last chapter and epilogue was SHOCKING omg i did not except that AT ALL. i’m so excited for sutton and brody (i think they might be my favourite).

It was impossible not to smile through this entire book. This is book 1 in Kelly Elliott 's new series, Seaside, and it's true love/first love/2nd chance romance perfection!

Gannon and Addie have loved eachother since they were kids but knew they had to go their separate ways to follow their dreams after high school. Fast forward several years and Addie is back in Seaside to help her parents and rekindle her true love.

This book has zero angst, thank you very much, and it sets up the next book in the series. I have a feeling book two, Part of Me, will have a bit of angst and drama!

Seaside is sizzling with twists and turns

I really loved how it ended with this huge cliffhanger that makes you want to scream …WAIT…WHAT? I mean I was expecting this sTory about Addie and Gannon to be wrapped up so neat and tightly. I loved this story and this new town and characters. Both families had me laughing. I can’t wait for more. Is it September yet?

Loved it!

I love Kelly’s writing, and this was such an amazing start to a new series.
Addie & Gannon have this incredible bond that can’t be broken. Watching them reconnect now that they’re both home….it was pure happiness.
I really liked that there wasn’t a lot of drama with these two. They knew they’re meant to be and didn’t fight it.
I can’t wait to see what happens in this series. It’s going to be so good!!!

Different

Normally a book has the couple fighting their feelings for each other before they finally admit they're in love. Not so with this couple. Addie and Gannon were high school sweethearts who broke up amicably and decided to leave things up to Fate. They do find their way back to each other and it's like things are better than before. Their story has s sweet, but the ending was great because it's so unexpected.
