As a Learning Ambassador at an Amazon fulfillment center for more than three years, I have trained over 300 associates from all backgrounds, from those starting their first job to retirees working what will likely be their last job. During their first and second days, I train them to pack products in a manner that they will arrive in perfect condition. I also train them to do it safely, with an emphasis on both physical and mental safety, so they will leave the facility at the end of their shifts, also in perfect condition.
Work in an automated facility can be intimidating, and good trainers help new hires understand these pressures and are able to address them as they come up by sharing and connecting. The stories in "Superpower" are perfect fodder for trainers to use when an associate begins to express doubt that they can perform well enough to persevere.
In "Superpower," readers meet soccer Coach Trent, a soul brother of Coach Lasso, who trains his players by relating a fable about how a new kid (played by a younger version of Coach Trent) overcame self-doubt and learned to celebrate his uniqueness. The book not only contains many games and exercises to develop confidence, but also shows other members of teams how to inspire those who need a boost. Great for both teens and adults, this book makes a great gift.

This is a simple read but I loved it! This would be a great book for teachers to read to children and use as a lesson plan for icebreakers. Wasn’t sure what to expect from this book but was super impressed and honestly Intrigued.
As an adult this makes me want to find more information on Trent. I enjoyed the last part that spoke about the true story.
A very quick read. I found it helpful to read the discussion questions (found at the end of the book) after each chapter to ensure I was understanding the message as I went along.
I love that it's based on a real person who lives in Minneapolis.
