A heartwarming adventure about a dolphin named Speedy, from Australia's master storyteller.
Speedy is the fastest, cleverest dolphin around Kangaroo Island and to Mike and his fisherman father Ben he is a special friend. However some of the fisherman, including the greedy Boris Butler and big game hunters Darcy Drake and Wolf Haast, don’t like Speedy as much as they believe he ‘steals’ their fish.
Set in a small fishing community, Speedy is another of Colin Thiele’s classic stories. Read by Anna Steen, Speedy is a wonderful story about the power of friendship.
Lovely read. I've only recently found Colin Thiele's work through a recommendation for older Australian authors, and was very fortunate to find a copy of this book in a local free library.
A wonderful story for the younger age group, it reads smoothly with a consistent theme and strong message for marine conservation. The characters are well described with a nice down to earth family and friends. The nautical theme is seemingly consistent for Thiele's works and shows with his in-depth knowledge of fishing boats and coastal areas.
The Dolphin 'Speedy' as the main attraction is very beloved and realistic, creating a bond with the characters and helping them in critical moments that made the story very captivating. I was very pleased with the conclusion to the story that I'm sure anyone will agree with.
