The Rejected Island series is composed of books from multiple authors all set within the same world. Real Alphas Bite is C.R. Jane's and Mila Young's contribution to the series. It's a multiple-perspective rejected mate story that is filled with powerful, growly alphas, three brothers to be exact, and the she-wolf who gets under their skin.
Characters:
Emersyn "Syn" Landry has survived a tragic childhood only to endure an even more tragic adulthood. She's at the bottom of the pack and the alpha's son has rejected her as his mate. Syn suffers daily because of the mistreatment of the pack but she's holding on. Because she's been so restricted in her life when she finally gets a chance to leave the packs and see the world she savors it. However she was taken by the alphas so doesn't take things at face value and isn't only swooning at the Alphas, she questions a lot but there is most definitely a connection between her and the brothers.
Hendrix is the one that took her and that man likes control and *dom* he's very controlling (too bad Syn is up for controlling) which is understandable considering his and his brothers' traumatic background. Caspian is one of Hendrix's brothers, he's lighter of the three but still has a darkness to him, he's playful with Syn, and finally, there's River who has a temper but doesn't turn it on Syn. All three alphas are dark and have some special ability that makes them feared which is a good thing considering they are arms dealers. These are some big scary guys and make no mistake they aren't the good guys but they do treat those who work for them, right, even if they don't treat women the best,, and all three somehow manage to fall instantly for Syn.
The Plot
The story had a good pace and kept my interest. I loved when Syn first left her old pack lands and all that opulence that's described was fantastic and I loved seeing everything freshly through Syns eyes. And after seeing the money the alphas' have and knowing that they're arms dealers adds a bit of danger to the story but I would've loved to know a little more about their business and about what happened in their past. Exactly how did they get their powers? What's the full story?
Towards the end, a lot of drama happened with Syn which has me questioning what was her old pack up to? On the upside, it seems like while the guys can't quite admit how deeply they feel for Syn it becomes apparent that they care for her deeply.
This book was so good that I planned on checking out some of the other books in this series. Real Alphas Bite ended in a cliffhanger so I'm excited to see what happens next. Plus since Mila's and C.R.'s contribution to the series is a duology, Syn's story will be wrapping up in the next book, Real Alphas Mate and because of that title alone, I'm so there for it.
