Reviewed for queuemyreview.com; book release Mar09

Charlene Teglia is quickly becoming one of my favorite erotica authors. Her stories have a bit of a darker edge yet don’t cross the line of suspense or horror…they aren’t THAT dark. And her touch with love scenes is very good, there’s no doubt the stories are erotica, yet I don’t lose the story because of the sex, if you follow. Her latest, “Animal Attraction”, is paranormal erotica that actually made logic of a multiple-partner love scene and a ménage relationship.

Chandra has long come to terms with being an adopted child. She never lost interest in finding out about her birth parents, but hasn’t had much luck with that so far. Since her twenty-first birthday though, things have been getting a bit strange. There are the strange dreams that she can’t quite remember, her senses are doing strange things, and now she has apparently made enemies out of total strangers! Like today, when three people tried to knife her and some hottie saved her and then kissed her. But he was dangerous; she could just ‘feel’ it. Then she finds out what’s going on and what makes her so different—she’s a rare female werewolf, about to go through her first change, and to really belong to the local pack she needs to be intimate with a dozen dazzling specimens of manhood and then pick one to be her mate and king. Ohhhh kay.

Like I said, somehow Teglia made the whole one female, twelve men orgy scene logical, and let me tell you that’s no easy feat! There are, of course, sexual positions and acts galore in this story, but none of them overshadow the story itself. Instead they are an intricate part of the tale which is, for me, the true mark of erotica. The acts are described in graphic terms which may offend non-erotica readers so be warned. There are scenes with one, two, three, and four partners; oral sex, anal sex, vaginal sex, and skin sex. All described in a manner that will make you reach for a fan, a glass of water, and maybe even a cigarette when you’re done!

“Animal Attraction” is going directly to my keeper shelf…do not pass go, do not collect $200. It’s a story that has many of my favorite themes in paranormal erotica: werewolves (of course, I don’t turn away vampires either!), a strong heroine who does some butt-kicking herself, normality turned upside-down, a ménage with a happily ever after, and all sex is hot, safe, and consensual. If these things ‘call’ to the animal in you, you’ll definitely love Charlene Teglia’s latest.

I am jealous of this woman! This book was hot and a pleasure to read. I knew the heroine Chandra would sleep with the entire wolf pack by story’s conclusion, so I was worried about the book being filled with lots of sex and little emotion. But I had nothing to worry about – this was great!

Chandra was raised by adoptive parents and knows nothing about her true family background which happens to be wolf (shapeshifter). She doesn’t realize she’s about to go through the “change”, the maturity point at which her body will allow her to shift freely from human to wolf form. The book jumps right in as Chandra meets the sexy & mysterious Zack while working her sales clerk job in a leather store. She’s very apprehensive, but senses some danger and excitement while around Zack. Later that night, she wakes up to find another gorgeous man, which she’ll later learn is named David, holding her down in her bed! One of the hottest kisses in her life follows ;) Zack is the pack’s current alpha while David is the mostly warier type, with a military background to match. Both men are extremely drawn to Chandra, but David is more closed off and not at all interested in being the new alpha. (of course, I loved him best – it’s always the ones you can’t have!)

Female wolves are extremely rare, and the pack knows Chandra is their queen. She’s a danger to herself until she goes through the “change”, so with some encouragement, Chandra is taken back to wolf headquarters, which is an beautiful lush mansion with plenty of surrounding forest for the wolves to run through. Chandra basically has to participate in a one night orgy on the upcoming full moon and chose her mate, who will be the new pack King/Alpha. Since Chandra is going to be in a crazy heat, she’s concerned that the mate she chooses will be more of a biological decision and not one of her heart. Zack and David try to reassure her that it’s truly a choice of love and the heart, and all members of the pack must have an opportunity to mark her and see if they’re her mate.

What follows is one very hot night and one VERY tough decision. It’s mostly Zack and/or David you’ll be rooting for, and just like Chandra, you’ll be torn. Even when she’s with the other wolves, they’re watching and they’re still connected. There were tons of great characters in the pack, and the encounters with the others was very hot and enjoyable, too. A funny moment for me was when Zack is talking to Chandra about what HE wants from her when DAVID takes her…I’m like, “Dude, step off! You already had your chance solo!!” :D Obviously, I was a big David fan :) I want to say more about things that happened that make you gush for these two unique guys, but I don’t want to give away too much.

There’s also a smaller side plot with rogue wolves and panthers, but let’s be clear, this is definitely erotic romance through and through, and an excellent one at that.

This was one of those books that had a huge amount of potential, and got totally lost in bad story plotting.

I mean, honestly, what is not to love about a chick that gets to have a steaming hot orgy with 11 werewolf shifters, all pretty much Alpha dominant, and then gets to pick one at the end?

I thought NOTHING could go wrong with this!

Well, I was wrong.

Everything went wrong. The author wrote the heroine to be strong, yet had her weepy and confusing 99.9% of the time. She doesn't freak out at ALL over the fact that SHE is not only a werewolf, but these dudes that hi-jacked her are. Oh, and one slipped into her room and night and wrapped his giant alpha body around her and wouldn't let her go. The author didn't really streamline this scene and I was left feeling way creepy and not sexy at all. Anyways, the werewolf thing is totally normal and she accepts it instantly. The orgy is an issue for all of five seconds before she just trusts a group of 11 strangers and is like "Oh, well if you say you won't do anything I don't want to do, then I trust you!"

The relationship building was weak and I got very little connection to who she ended up with. There was also a whole pregnancy scenario that came out of no where and I didn't even realize it game out of no where, and one started to man handle her, and I was so damned confused I had to reread the whole scene and even then I was like ummmmm WTF just happened.

The villains were too easily handled, the sex/orgy scene would have been more hot and I would have cared if the author spent more time world building. But instead we are tossed in it and TOLD we have to believe all this, and to buy the chemistry she is selling us. NOPE! Not that easy! Not in my paranormal universe.

Oh! They refused to give her more time to accept all this because "We sent you a certified letter, we are sorry you didn't get it but you just have to hump us all or our race is doomed."

*HEADDESK*

I wanted to like this book so bad because I'm such a junkie for multiple partner situations.

For me, this one was an epic fail.

Super erotic menage PNR with well written MCs - likeable h, unique protective alpha H's. I enjoyed it a lot, just like anything else by this author. Initially the scene where Zack(the H) was talking and explaining how it all worked to h was too long - some of it could have been edited out . Apart from that bit it was a 4.5 star read!!

Like Dana who has found her beloved genre, I think I have found my genre of fiction... Werewolf Erotica!!

If you like orgies this book is for you!

This is my first Romance/Erotica novel and I must say it will probably not be my last!

This book is about Chandra, a young woman searching for who she is and where she comes from (she's adopted and never knew her birth parents)! She then meets these two HOT strangers who seem to rescue her everytime she gets in trouble. It turns out they are werewolves and she is a rare lady-werewolf from the same pack!!! Now this is where it gets hot (and makes me giggle!). Chandra, who is a day away from transforming into a werewolf must find her mate and name him King of the pack by having sex with ALL 11 men (giggle)!!!! Let the orgies begin!!!! Not only is having sex with every man in the pack a way of finding a mate/King werewolf but also because of her werewolf transformation she is in CRAZY heat, like will go insane if someone doesn't "give it to her" and only her werewolf brethren can satisfy her needs (giggle)!!! So she has crazy sex with all 11 men but there are 2 who she just can't get enough of, Zach and David, the 2 strangers from before. So now she must choose between Zach, the alpha/leader wolf or David who she loves but doesn't want to be the leader of the pack.

Oh yeah, then there is a battle between the werewolves and the panthers (yes, panthers!)...and then there are rogue werewolves that want to take over power and want Chandra to name one of them King...and then Chandra discovers she's pregnant with another man's child...and then ((SPOILER!!!)) the panthers and wolves call a truce but the rogue wolves attack and are defeated!!

AND then more orgies!!!

Overall, this book was RIDICULOUSLY AWESOME and I can't wait for her next romance that comes out in Feb. 15 "Bride of Fire" about Hades and Persephone!!! Not werewolves but I'm willing to expand my literary horizons!

The blurb on the back of this book says it all...'One woman. Eleven gorgeous men. One decadent night.' That's it. Chandra doesn't know that she is a werewolf, but she is taken to the house where all of the pack lives. She is told that she will pick a mate from all of them after a day of sex with everyone. There is group sex, anal sex, oral sex, just a lot of sex, sex, sex. Then that night it is a full moon and she changes for the first time. She picks a mate. The end. There was no emotional connection with any of the men. Without the emotion, the sex was boring. I gave the book 2 stars because I did like the characters, I just wished that I was more emotionally involved in their story.

Okay, I have no idea where I got Teglia's name...another book? Perhaps Mahlet because she loves what I love....not sure. In any case, I am definitely going to read more of her stuff based on this book. She writes action, emotions, and steamy steamy sex scenes that aren't always conventional (i.e. bondage, group sex, anal, etc.) Although this book has werewolves in it, there isn't bestiality because everyone is human during the steamy parts.

I could see her making my short list of authors that you read every time you see a book by her whether you've heard of the book or not. (The other authors on this short list of mine are J.R. Ward and Emma Holly, FYI.) I recommend this book as long as you are okay with multiple, simultaneous partners and were-animals during the non-sex parts. It was really great!

Benar-benar Happy Birthday to Chandra.
Alih-alih memilih calon pasangannya, eh malah mereka bertiga setuju utk menjadi pasangan demi melindungi Chandra...chaiya..chaiya... [image error]
Kacau dah ceritanya.. utk sekedar iseng sih gpp baca nih buku. Jangan diseriusin. Anggap aja cerita parodi.. Utk adegan erotica nya tidak sedetail buku erotika pengarang yg lain.

Parts of this were 3 stars and parts were 2 stars.

There was a huge menage section where she had to try out 12 different guys to choose one to be her mate and the alpha of the pack. This part was not all that hot as there were so many men that you really couldn't tell them apart and you just sort of wanted to get back to the relationship with the two guys you knew were really the front runners.

Then she did end up with 2 guys as mates. This was not expected or usual so that part of the story was pretty well done as the author did deal with the jealousies and difficulties the men had over trying to share her when that was not their tendencies at all. Her feelings when she thought she could only have one of them were fairly well done.

The werewolf mythos was okay. There was a fairly well developed plot although the forest god was used as a bit of deus ex machina. I did like the way they met.

When reading this one make sure that you have a glass of cold water near you, because wow there are sure some hot, steamy, explicit sex scenes.

Chandra, was adopted at birth, and now there seems to be weird guys hanging around. Turns out she is a werewolf and not just a normal one, but their princess. The first full moon after her 21st birhtday brings on her change. With a female the transformation comes with a unique situation, she is in heat and needs the whole pack to ease her.

Chandra spends the day with 11 gorgeous guys having sex, sharing the fellowship of the pack. At the end, after she has experienced all these guys, she will need to pick a king.

You would think that things would go in a predictable fashion but it doesn't. Chandra doesn't end up with the guy/wolf you think, rules are broken left and right, but they make for a much stronger pack in the end.

Last night I decided to grab a book off my bookshelf in hopes of starting a good read and beginning the process of cleaning out my overloaded bookshelves. By 3 am in the morning I found I was still awake, unable to put this book down, and no closer to clearing room on my shelves. Because this book is a keeper.

For me this is erotica at it's best. The author manages to give us characters we care about and a plot I can believe even as the impossible happens. Because one woman and a 11 man orgy is far from an everyday happening. Don't let the 11 gorgeous werewolves fool you though because at it's heart this story is simply a menage with a happy ending.

And of course...the sex scenes are HOT, HOT, HOT. Need I say more?

This paranormal story is not for the faint of heart. It's got every kind of f plus m combination you can think of. If you want a lot of explicit scenes, this book fits the bill. If you want a story, you'll be disappointed. There's really no plot. The story doesn't go anywhere. There's very little character development. People come in and out (no pun intended) of the story without much contributing much to the story.

The heroine is one of the rare female shifters alive. Most shifters are men. Raised primarily by humans, she was unaware of her heritage until her twenty-first birthday when her pack finally finds her. She has to choose from the eleven the one who will be the alpha male. Let's say she has her way with all eleven of them.

Animal Attraction was given 5 tombstones by Bitten by Books . According to Cassie's review:

It is hard to find a book that balances erotica and an actual plot and storyline, but Animal Attraction succeeds in a very big and very good way.

Well developed characters, mouth wateringly vivid descriptions, chilling mystery and mayhem ...

I'm sorry to say that this once I do not agree with BBB. I found that Animal Attraction is very similar to the usual erotic novel. As often happens with erotica, I did not connect with the characters and so the sex scenes bored me to death.

The heroine was adopted as a baby and grew up not knowing that she is a shape-shifting wolf. Her soon-to-be pack mates seek her out to prepare her for the change that will occur on the first full moon after her 21st birthday. The middle 2/3 of the book is a long menage scene that was over the top for my taste. I enjoyed the plot and the explanation of lupine and shifter lore in the other 1/3 of the book. If there was a sequel, I'd like to know what would happen next. This read is not worth your time unless a very long and very explicit menage scene IS what you are looking for.

While I enjoyed this more than 'Wicked Hot' I couldn't justify another star. This is one of those were-stories where the main character spends a hell of a lot of time adjusting to 'hur mer gerd, I'm a were whatever' as seen in just about every were story ever. This would've been alright, I mean its a secondary puberty, but the sex scenes were distinctly lacking. There's a lot of details of the before and after, but actual sex is glossed and unless you get off on kissing and cuddling (which some people do) you'll probably disappointed.

I just could not get into this book. I understand it was probably written as a woman's fantasy so I might not exactly be the target audience. Some things about the author's lycanthropes were entertaining, some of it bordered on the "not that shite again" area. Not as bad as the gag me Twilight crap, but just not my cup of tea. I doubt I will read another book by this author, despite the fact that her love scenes were well written, and creatively described. If I am going to read a tawdry book, I would much rather something less women's lit.

I liked this book more than I thought I would...there's a ton of hot and heated sex, well with one girl and eleven guys one would think so. But there was a story and it was well done. I recommend this book to anyone who is open to loads of heated sex with a nice story to go with it.

$9.99 for an e-book that's written by an unknown author?! Are you kidding me? I don't care how well written the smut may be, it's not worth that price tag. E-book price gouging really pisses me off.

This was my first time trying out Teglia's book and I have to say I'm not that impressed with it . I was confused most of the book and felt that I could not draw myself into the book which made it more difficult to read much less enjoy. However I did really like the end but felt that she was over thinking the whole finding a mate problem and which made the main female character boring.

This is one of those books that readers are going to really like or it’s just not for them. There will be those who will say there’s not enough story to go along with all that sex. Sometimes I’m one of those people. There will be others who will say more meat is needed the storyline. Sometimes I one of those people too. But not this time around.

I’m happy to say that on both those counts Ms. Teglia comes up with a nice balance. Yes, it’s an erotic story, so there should be sex. In most of these types of books the sex is so gratuitous it’s not even funny; and, of course, you don’t get much of a story when that happens. Though Animal Attraction has a basic story of shapeshifters protecting their territory and people from adversarial shifters, it’s the characters and the little extras the author gives the reader that makes this book more fun and enjoyable than all those other so-so books out there.

Chandra has started to feel jumpy, out of sorts lately and she has no idea why. Meeting a mysterious man in the store where she works at the mall is another one of those things she can’t explain, especially because she’s drawn to the stranger. But when he saves her from three different strangers who would do her harm and he tells her to come home, she’s needed there, that only makes things more murky for her. Added to that are her nightmares of images and people that scare her but that also feel familiar.

Taking Zach at his word, when Chandra finds him and her other nocturnal visitor, David, at their home they share with nine other men, she feels like it’s her home too, a place where she finally belongs. And when she eventually learns who and what she is, things seem to make more sense to her. But there are other things she has a hard time getting beyond. Because her parents died when she was young, she’s never known her heritage. She’s a werewolf and her first transition is about to take place, so she has a lot to take in. Chandra will also have to choose a mate, the wolf who will then be alpha of the pack, king of the wolves. Before that happens, though, she has to get through a night of mating and marking with the men of the pack.

In between all this it’s the neighboring panthers, along with rogue wolves, who keep attacking, trying to take what isn’t theirs. As Chandra learns more about herself and her new pack, however, the stronger they become. Her feelings are divided between Zach and David, but she doesn’t want to choose wrong to cause a weakness that can be exploited by the panthers. How can she choose between these two men she loves in so short a time? As her shifting gifts become more apparent, her new-found strength gives her confidence and she’s ready to put an end to the fear and scare tactics the panthers are fond of.

How can Chandra have sex with eleven men in one night and you don’t roll your eyes while you’re reading? Believe me, I thought that was going to happen when I realized where the story was headed at that point in time. All in all, those scenes are quite intense, but Ms. Teglia puts that balance I mentioned earlier into play. The first few scenes with different men do go into a lot of detail and emotion of the moment, but the later scenes are kept to a minimum so you don’t end up in overload. But it’s all enough so that you get to know these characters as they interact with Chandra. If enough care hadn’t been taken for that along the way, I don’t think the whole thing would have gone over nearly as well.

Also, the two heroes, Zach and David, are very alpha and very likable, but Chandra holds her own with them. Sure, they want her at every turn, but they also care for and take care of their own. You see how all the men interact with one another in both human and wolf form. You see how much they need Chandra in their lives to make their pack whole. Chandra herself is a very strong and independent woman. Even before she knew she was a wolf, she was smart and quick witted in times of danger.

I also liked the twists that happen among their pack and also with panthers near the end of the story, things you don’t quite expect. Even a blade of grass takes on a whole new light. There were probably a few things here and there that didn’t work in the story, but they’re so negligible that I don’t even remember what they may have been. This is why I love reading paranormals. The author takes that free rein she’s given and runs with it, but doesn’t go overboard, something I wish I’d see a lot more often when reading erotic romance.

Animal Attraction introduces us to Chandra Walker who has does not know that she is in fact a rare female werewolf until her all male pack finds her and brings her home to help with her impending change. Chandra is relieved to learn the truth of her past, but is shocked when she learns she must participate in an interaction with all of the males, where she will share pleasure with them all and choose her mate and pack leader. With so much happening, and her heart tore in different directions, will Chandra be able to make the decision when the time comes and will her pack be OK with her choice?

This is a book that I was really interested in when I first found it, and decided I had to read it. Unfortunately, this is also one book that seemed to get pushed down on my TBR shelf by other books, and then I wasn't so sure about it. Finally, I got the itch again to read it, and boy am I glad I finally did! I loved this book! It was such a quick, easy read and I found myself not wanting the story to be over, and to spend more time with these characters.

There were a few moments where I wasn't quite sure what had just happened, but overall, I loved the characters Charlene gave us, her storytelling and writing was just what I needed and wanted. This story was a perfect duo of paranormal aspect and erotica. If that sounds like something you'd like, I'd recommend giving this book a read. I definately wasn't disappointed!

[Read more at my blog, Geeky Reading!]

This was a surprisingly good book.

I loved the characters, the main and minor ones, and would have liked to got to know them all a lot better. I liked Chandra, the main character, a lot. Her voice was well done, and it was fun being in her head. I also liked her two main guys, Zach and David. I wasn’t too sure where the romance was going, although I had my suspicions, and really like how it all ended up. I really felt her attraction and chemistry with David, and really liked him as a character, and while I think the intensity between them was higher then between her and Zach, I did still feel their connection as well. Then there were the other wolves, and I liked the ones we got to know.

The whole ritual thing was a little odd, but I didn’t mind that. It was a neat, and very hot, take on the werewolves. There was a lot of sex in this book, but it was very good sex, there was variety, and none of the scenes seemed to drag on or anything.

Overall, I really enjoyed this story, to a surprising amount. I hope to pick up something else by Teglia when I get the chance, and I believe there’s also a short story for this series, so I hope to read that at some point.
