Provides over thirty "journeys" through breathtaking American vistas, including the Blue Ridge Parkway, Florida's Overseas Highway, The Oregon Trail, Alaska's Inside Passage, and the Colorado River.
The Reader's Digest Association, Inc. is a global media and direct marketing company based in Chappaqua, New York, best known for its flagship publication founded in 1922, Reader's Digest. The company's headquarters are in New York City, where it moved from Pleasantville, New York.
The company was founded by DeWitt and Lila Wallace in 1922 with the first publication of Reader's Digest magazine, but has grown to include a diverse range of magazines, books, music, DVDs and online content.
The Reader's Digest Explore America series has a 2-page, slightly topographical, map of the US states in the front, with the locations discussed marked in red - just red dots for the ones briefly covered in the back, red dot and name for the ones who get a full chapter. Each of the ten chapters dedicated to one city ends with a list of other local sites and attractions; the final section devotes only one page to each site. As with all the Reader's Digest travel books I've seen, plenty of big, beautiful pictures with captions.
