This was a fun and entertaining refresher course for the English language. I did say it is a refresher, but that isn't to say I didn't learn anything. I did. I've been writing since I was old enough to do it (i.e., grade school) and I still found a lot of useful information in this book.

Certain things stood out for me. The author addressed one of my pet peeves: lose and loose. I don't know why it's so hard for some people to understand the difference, but it's a thing. Ms. Miclea did an excellent job of explaining the difference, using examples, and creating a handy chart at the end of that segment to make it easier to refer to. She did this for many words.

In addition to that, there's a fun list of names for gatherings of animals, different word types-yeah, this was just an enjoyable book.

I would recommend it to anyone who wants to better their language skills, someone who may be struggling in their Language Arts class, or even if you're learning English as a second language.

I found this book to be quite well-written and very informative. I learned a lot from it. It also contains a few surprises among the words that people apparently get confused. For instance, I have never come across any writing in which the words "aloud" and "allowed" have been confused. It would be interesting to know where (texts and, possibly, more interestingly geographical areas) these confusions have occurred. I still found this section of the book to be worthwhile reading.
