A young girl gives a poignant reflection of her childhood neglect and abuse journey through a series of poetic messages and letters.
Shortly after her father's abandonment and her mother's remarriage to a drug-addicted stepfather, called 'White Trash,' Reema must learn to fend for herself during her developing years. Reema recounts finding hope to make it out alive after enduring childhood neglect, abuse, and almost being killed in her childhood home, Ansley street.
Reema Angelique's debut poetry book is a powerful reflection of how she found life in the home that almost brought her death. Her poetic messages once served as cries for help and now serve as words for the voiceless for generations to come.
To say this book is beautifully written would be an understatement, I thought it would take me weeks to read it poem by poem but I finished it in a day and a may as well have highlighted the entire thing. The only reason it was difficult to read is cause I could barely see through the tears that stayed in my eyes for the entirety of it
this book was heartbreaking. the last half of it lost me a little just bc i don’t have that same type of belief or relationship with a higher power. but their growth and healing process was moving, this was a very powerful piece of poetry.
At first I was confused while all I felt and read was pain and then I realized that it was a journey I was to take on, not just get to the good parts. I tend to want to rush to that in my own life, long to move to the future before I learn from the present and reflect on the past. God really is amazing, this is such a good reminder, sometimes I long for brokenness to feel Christ so deeply again, I hate that my comfortable heart shuts him out until it “needs” him for selfish reasons. I pray that my heart changes
I bought this book not knowing it was poetry, and not knowing that the author was a Christian! I loved that the book is divided into two parts: death (her trauma and childhood) and life (redemption through Christ!). I absolutely recommend this book to anyone and everyone. It was a beautiful story to be able to read, and I am inspired by Reema!!
This book was so powerful, and spoke to me so much.
I could not put this book down. I read it in one sitting. This book was excruciatingly heartbreaking, but also beautiful. Couldn’t help but just cry while reading Reema’s testimony. It is so powerful & she is such a great writer. It is evident that God turned her pain into something so beautiful. 1000/10 recommend this book ❤️
I don't really read poetry but this book was It. It tells a story of so much pain and abuse in words too small to contain all of it. I love that she found Christ. Her story of how God took her back to her past was so healing for everybody going through something painful.
This book reminded me that God uses the pain for purpose.
God never abandons his children and he won’t start, even when i feel so far gone or that i disappointed him, he continues to show up and let me know his love is unconditional.
He sacrificed and did the biggest act of love for his children 🌷🫶🏻🩷
What an incredible read. If you are seeking a true redemption story, this one is it. Fast-paced, gut-wrenching and quintessentially poetic, little house on ansley gives a raw perspective of where we have to turn in order to truly face our darkest demons. This book challenges us to look at ourselves and our circumstances in a whole different light.
This book was incredible. To read Reema’s story was amazing. There was heartbreak and hope. It was an incredible read. Definitely something I will come back to time and time gain. It’s heartbreaking to hear some of the abuse she and her family endured. But inspiring to see where she is now and how strong her faith is.
I appreciate Reema telling us her story with such bravery. This book had such an effect on my soul. I loved it so much and will be reading it again. Thank you, Reema!! God bless you❤️🥺
