One day, Crown Prince Sieg hears the Voices of the Gods out of the blue. Apparently, his fiancée Lieselotte is a “tsun de rais” villainess destined to meet her demise...and her sharp tongue is just a way of covering up her embarrassment. The prince can hardly contain himself after discovering Lieselotte's adorable hidden side. Little does he know, the heavenly beings that bestowed this knowledge unto him are actually high schoolers! Can he use their divine prophecy (let’s play commentary) to save his betrothed and avoid a Bad End?!
3.5 rounded up for truly doing something different with its genre - the villainess this time isn't reborn or reincarnated, she actually IS a game character...and the eponymous Endo and Kobayashi are two high school kids whose playthrough goes sideways when the game goes on autoplay and suddenly one of the love interests, Prince Sieg, can hear them. Seizing their moment, the two decide to take the opportunity to turn fanfiction into canon by saving their favorite character, the tsundere villainess Lieselotte. Fortunately for everyone, Sieg discovers that he's really into "tsun de rais"...
This really could have been one volume, and it does start to go in some odd directions towards the end, but I can get behind a book that takes a concept and just runs with it the way this one does.
This novel is pretty fresh. The concept is not the standard reincarnation story in a different world, but it is about a dating sim game. The game's characters are the standard prince protagonist, the commoner heroine, the evil villainess, etc. In reality, the players of the game are Endo and Kobayashi. However, for some reason, the main protagonist, Seigwald, can hear their voices in-game.
Because of various reasons, Endo and Kobayashi sympathize with the evil villainess and want to save her. To accomplish that, they give Siegwald various secret information to help her. As a result, the normal bad developments are avoided and the characters' relationships are deepened.
However, for me personally, I feel like those relationship developments are very rushed. The love scenes were cute, but it felt rather forced. Regardless, it was a great story with a feeling of completion. For those that love dating sims and romance, please read it!

Volumen 1

¡¡ Maravillosa !!

¡¡ Me Encanto !!
😍
✨❤️✨
Los protagonistas para mi son 4
Shihono y Aoto Y Lieselotte y Siegwald
La pareja secundaria son
Fiene y Baldur
¡¡ Me Encantan !!
¡¡ Maravillosa !!
¡¡ Me Encanta !!
✨
Recomendada 1000%
❤️❤️❤️
« Deseo amar eternamente a quien no puede amar a nadie. Deseo ser su más fiel aliada »
Crown Prince Siegwald has no idea he's one of the capture targets in an otome game---nor do Endo and Kobayashi, who are playing that game, have any godlike powers. But some twist of fate has allowed Sieg to hear their voices, and in this uncontrollable playthrough, all Endo and Kobayashi can do is offer their words of guidance. Because they love this world, and they know the darkness coming for it.
This is a short, two-volume series that both embraces the pulled-into-an-otome-game fad as well as provides its own unique twist in that the two Japanese high schoolers are not exactly IN the world of the game. They're more like Let's Play commentary that certain characters in the game with a high affinity for divine revelation can pick up on. (Thus confusing Endo and Kobayashi as gods.)
The other nice thing is that this series, although supposedly about the villainess Lieselotte, is told from the point of view of her fiance, the prince, so we're getting a male perspective on all the usual otome-game tropes. He, unusually, is actually deeply in love with his fiancee. The problem is that because he's the crown prince, he's so practiced in his public persona that Lieselotte can struggle to see his real feelings for her. And it's also true that some of her behavior would have originally driven him away if not for the "godly" commentary interpreting it for him.
There's an equally large amount of attention being paid to the real-world side of the story, as Endo and Kobayashi are themselves exploring their feelings for each other, just like Sieg is falling in love with Lieselotte. Personally I don't care for the real-world side as much and tended to skim, but it does help develop the two commentators.
Basically, if you like this genre this is a short enough story to require minimal investment but still provides a good time. It plays several tropes straight while utterly skewering others---Fiene, the game's main character, is apparently in New Game Plus mode, as her physical and magical stats are strong enough to solo the last boss right out of the gate. Which leads to some difficulties since she can knock out several of her candidate love interests with a single punch. I rate this book Recommended.
While the plot of this book isn't exactly something new, it does offer a peculiar approach that sets it apart from the usual otome game-themed stories. As a fan of certain game commentators, it feels super refreshing for me.
This isn't isekai or time rewind, though it is technically a villainess story. It focuses on Lieselotte, the villainess of an otome game, and that's who she really is. A fictional character in a game. We follow her through the eyes of her fiancé and the crown prince, Siegwald, but the ones moving the plot along are Endou and Kobayashi, two high school students playing this otome game in the real world and providing commentaries for Siegwald to follow. Their objective is to save Lieselotte, who dies in every single route except for the harem ending where she goes yuri for the game's main character, Fiene.
At a glance, the plot seems to follow the usual otome game template with stereotypical character… except it doesn't. It quickly strays off that path and turns into something completely different, sprinkled with moments of Endou and Kobayashi's relationship in the real world. It feels like reading several genres in a single book, but honestly? The seemingly weird mix is working for me. I like how youthful love is blossoming in both worlds, and how everyone adores Lieselotte after they figure out that she's just a huge "tsun de rais".
It does feel like the main issue with Lieselotte could've been solved in a single book, but there are definitely loose ends that could use another volume to be tied up properly. Like the question why Fiene has become an absolute gorilla in terms of stats, and also the truth about the hidden route that hasn't come to light. This is a quick, easy read that doesn't require much thinking, and I'm definitely picking up the next book.
Despite the fact that I would never play an Otome game since I'm a 29 year old dude I do have a soft spot for stories set in them since they tend to be lighthearted and nice to read through though I obviously prioritize interesting premises/gimmicks compared to the more basic plots. In this case I had read some of the manga adaptation and the idea of 2 people affecting the world of an otome game without physically being transported to it via commentary (and the game characters that could hear it) caught my attention enough to read the novel.
Granted the world outside the game is only described as much as its needed to, that being to explain the situations and some of the past of Endo and Kobayashi, but its still enough to root for the two of them on top of the in-game characters who would otherwise have a relatively bad ending (even if its obvious it won't happen lol). A few of the characters had some rather interesting personalities too, though I'll note this is one of the stories that keeps its cast small. I enjoyed it enough to binge read 'Disc 2' at the very least.
That said I apologize for not writing what I would consider a proper review, I keep forgetting I have a GoodReads account so even though I've been reading a decent amount of english translated japanese stuff (and a large amount of manga) my account here is rather empty.
This is one of the most unique and refreshing approaches to the villainess genre and is a real wish-fulfillment for supporters of their type. The main characters and their backstories were really interesting and all neatly tied together. You have several stories intersecting so it's like you get many bonus stories. It's definitely a must-read if you like this genre.
The lower score is mostly from the writing style and editing. I read the manga version of this first and loved it. The novel doesn't really add anything other than the conversations being unnecessarily wordier. There's a lot more detail on the side of Endo and Kobayashi, but instead of them, I'd have preferred reading more about Liselotte and Sieg. I'm glad the author removed some of the POVs in the light novel version but it's still a little too many. But what drove me really insane was the chapter headings. I don't think it was necessary to have sub-chapter headings. They could have just continued the chapter count, but that's just me. Other than those trivialities, I definitely recommend this story.
1. Plot: Two high school kids get attached to a video game villainess and try to play a route that will keep her alive. While they play, they realize that one of the male leads from the game can hear their play-by commentary. This significantly changes the plot.
2. This is just such a weirdly meta concept I swear to god.
3. But whatever. Everyone is adorable and there's not much meat to the story but it's been really enjoyable so far. I TOO, love Lieselotte. And everyone else. It's so nice and fun and everyone sees the best of each other and there is no unnecessary drama and I've been binging on Chinese historicalish manhua so it was a nice change of pace.
4. I'm way more interested in the fantasy bits than the IRL bits but honestly Endo and Kobayashi are cuties too, especially Endo. Adorable.
I first watched the anime as it was airing a few years ago, and I loved it a lot.
Revisiting this world & these characters that I love in the original novel was an absolute delight.
I absolutely adore everyone here, and I think it’s such a unique premise executed very well. All the couples are absolutely adorable too.
I can’t wait to read the next books, especially because the anime only covers up to the next book. With the third book as a super fun epilogue with some cool short stories!! I cannot wait.
Highly recommend this series (and the anime!) to all those interested in fantasy, villainess stories, or just after something new & refreshing!! There’s also a manga version which I will get to eventually.
I love this! Masterful storytelling on multiple levels!
I so thoroughly enjoyed this book! I love how the story is layered for the narrators as well as the fantasy characters. Wonderful storytelling on so many levels! Great characters, too! I laughed and cried through this book.
It's a good book. I liked the tsundere Lieselotte and it was fun to read. Not my favorite book nor my favorite plot but it was a light read. The only thing that i didn't like was that i didn't care about the real life couple and their parts just bored me.
