It's New Year's Eve, and Angelica is ready to welcome the New Year.
But when the clock strikes twelve and a curse is unleashed, old acquaintances will be anything but forgotten.
Who has it out for Silverlake?
Or maybe the magical town isn't the target.
Because when the snow settles, two women are left frozen at the center of it all—the town's persnickety mayor and an up-and-coming WNN news anchor. Both women's personalities aren't going to make this an easy case.
Regardless, it'll take more than a bewitched blizzard to keep Angelica and her friends from tracking the clues. There isn't a minute to spare. If they don't catch the culprit, two women remain frozen forever.
I'm a mystery author with a soft spot for romance and humor, too. I love all things girlie with a dollop of danger, have a strong affinity for the color pink (especially in diamonds and champagne), and, not to brag, but chocolate and I are in a pretty serious relationship.
My books are fun and flirty, and feature smart and sassy sleuths. If you love books with a dash of spice and twist of whodunit, you're going to love my work!
I was intrigued by the synopsis of Midnight at the Mystic Inn and settled in to listen to this cozy paranormal mystery set in the idyllic town of Silverlake. The story centers around New Year’s Eve when a curse is unleashed that leaves two women frozen.
The tale that unfolds pulled me in as Angie, the heroine who apparently has solved some previous cases, tries to uncover the culprit. The police, well one of them would love to pin this on Angie, and something is wrong in one of the rooms at the Inn.
Besides an intriguing case and fascinating heroine, we see some advancement in her romance with Vance. While I didn’t listen to the previous books, the author did a lovely job of bringing me up to speed. I loved Angie’s friends and family who come to her aid.
A little magic, small-town antics, and plenty of suspects kept me entertained. I hope to go back and listen to the previous novels in the series. Aimee Reid did a lovely job of narrating the story and giving voice to the characters.
There's a thing called the Witch News Network brought up in the book. There's a New Years celebration but when the ball falls two people are turned literally into ice sculptures so now the problems are find out who did that, why did they do that, and could it be reversed.
Then things get worse when it starts snowing. Inside the inn. Deep snow. On top of that there's yet another person found turned into ice.
So Angelica has a rather major bit of work to do. Will the entire town be turned into ice? Will the people turned to ice melt away? (I'm melting! I'm melting!) Will the inn have more snow inside it than outside?
How I love this series. This is a real page turner! The characters are fantastic and real, except for the magic of course, but it just seems natural as you read. Silverlake is having a New Years ball dropping celebration at the town center. Mayor Parrish is so excited that the celebration will be filmed with a well known up and coming WNN news anchor Rebecca, her cameraman and her gofer sister, Paige whom she mistreats. Just when the the ball drops there is a freak icing snow storm, its got to be magic, that happens freezing the news anchor and the mayor solid! Who did it? Is it a prank? Then we have another freak icing snow storm in Aunt Thelma's hotel, upstairs in the room rented by Paige and Angie calls the sheriff to investigate this too. She can't get in, even though she has magic, it wasn't strong enough. The sheriff was able to break the spell on the hotel room door, but they don't find Paige, they find Megan, a reporter assigned to get the New Year's Eve story. And she too is frozen solid. With so many twists and turns and with the support of her Aunt, her boyfriend, Vance, Luke the town's chocolatier and Angie getting a little more control of her magic, can they solve the mystery? This was such a fun, twisted, read you just can't put it down! I received and ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
This 5th installment of the Mystic Inn Series has the most drama packed mystery so far. It's now New Years Eve in the town of Silverlake. A celebration fit to broadcast as Silverlake won a contest of several other witchy magical towns to be the one broadcasting the ball drop on WNN - Witch News Network. What could go wrong? Well, if past book installments are any indicator, mischief happens when there's magic involved. As the ball drops, something completely unexpected and both beautiful and horrible happens that will cripple the small police force and impact our heroine, Angelica, someone who has solved most of the previous unsolvable crimes even when her magic isn't perfect, acts off and unpredictable. What can she do now? This one is totally unputtdownable if you read all the ones leading up to this.
Another fun adventure in Silverlake. This time it’s New Year’s Eve and this typically warm town is turning into ice and endless snow right after the midnight ball drops. Everyone is baffled how it’s happened, how to stop it, and how to unfreeze a couple of people who have turned to solid ice. Quite a mystery for a town full of witches and Angie is not about to give up. Great watching her powers develop even more and how she learns how her powers had been blocked for so many years. Wonderful development in her relationship with Vance and good to see Aunt Thelma find some happiness. I love how the town folk always come together to help each other and figure things out. Definitely kept me guessing and quite a few misdirections. I love this series.
Midnight at Mystic Inn is Book 5 in the Mystic Inn Mystery series by Stephanie Damore.
I was so excited to get back to the magical town of Silverlake.
It’s New Year’s Eve and when the clock strikes midnight a magical storm hits the town and people are literally FROZEN!
I love the protagonist Angie, she is really developing her powers, and this is quite the mystery! Angie's romance with Vance is moving along nicely, but does not overtake the mystery. All the characters are well written and wonderful, and I do love Aunt Thelma too! She is a secondary character that is anything but.
The mystery kept me guessing until the end, and I was totally wrong. I loved the twists and this was a really unique story . I just LOVE this series.
For some reason, it was harder for me to get into this story than the prior three books. Maybe because I did not like the two women who were frozen. There were a couple very interesting turns in the last half of the book, and the last half of the story I thought was very good. Like last time, I felt the ending was rushed. The mystery was wrapped up very well, but what about Paige? Is she going or staying? The most interesting character dynamics were with Rebecca and Paige and Luke, yet that was left unresolved. It is wonderful that the author writes characters I feel invested in, but I need more follow through on the supporting cast of characters.
Sadly, another weak case. At least, Angelica finally seems to refund her witchy self and confidence. About time, I was already going to rant about her barely doing any witchcraft. I just hope, she doesn’t reverse in the next book and this growth keeps up. Also, there wasn’t much Vance in it. And still no gargoyle Rocky. Sigh. And honestly, I had it with the holiday and festival themes. One or two during a series I don’t mind, but now it’s been every book that had a holiday or festival going on in the background. Or forefront, the case taking a backseat to it. I’d prefer a better outlined case and less mistakes to holiday mayhem.
Midnight at Mystic Inn is a delightful, twisty, magical mystery! I love Silverlake, Angie, Vance, Percy, Thelma, and the townspeople. In each book, Angie comes into more of her powers, her relationship with Vance progresses and there is a mystery to solve. Will Angie be able to banish the curse and unfreeze the mayor? There are some interesting new characters who may be around for another book. As usual, there are several misdirects and I never guessed the villain. I also could not put the book down!
What fun this series is! I love the characters and I love that the hotel has a poltergeist on staff! Brilliant! This was a serious conundrum and the solution was not what I was expecting! I can’t imagine how hard it would be to figure out the cause behind the whole town being put into a winter storm and several people being frozen solid! How would you even go about figuring out how to fix them without killing one? Yikes! I had fun reading about Angelina, Vance, Aunt Thelma and all the rest! I look forward to the next mystery!
As Silvermoon’s New Year’s ball drops, a magical snowstorm is unleashed upon the southern town. Angelica’s sleuthing skills will be mightily tested as she unravels this case. This is such a delightfully witchy series! A fabulous plot, well developed charming characters and brilliant writing move the story along at a nice pace. I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next one. I received this book free and chose to make a voluntary, unbiased review.
Set during new Years Eve party the town won thanks to twins
New Years Eve , then blizzard . read this one during new years holiday but no snow , cold wind . this series been fun lot of twist and red herrings in this book. Characters have grown . nice who done it, set in magical town with side romance and side of comedy. Fun character s
Magic and witchy good mystery stories made this a fun series to read. Sweet romance and a suspenseful plot will entertain the reader without inappropriate language or behavior. Well done!
I like the series but staying with the fourth book if seems as if the author is struggling to find the story. The books slow down increasingly more with each one.
This was another interesting and enjoyable mystery as Angelica and Vance try to find out who froze the town, and more importantly the mayor amongst others, on New Year's Eve. Well structured story with loads of twists.
I really enjoyed this book. It is fun and engaging. The mystery is interesting and has many twists and turns to keep you guessing. I like the characters and the magical town. I enjoyed the different spells and magic used in this book. I could not put the book down and highly recommend it.
Angelica is at the Silverlake New Year's Eve celebration. But, when the ball drops, someone puts the town in the deep freeze including the town's mayor, and one of the celebrity anchors for the WWW news.
I love this series! Great characters, fun intriguing mysteries, small town setting. I can picture it all as I’m reading. I can’t wait for the next book!
