Magical home in an enchanted town. Hayden is now surrounded by family and friends as she solves mysteries in her new town of Destiny Falls. Destiny Falls is an enchanted town that carries many secrets as well as magical homes and businesses. This latest book in the series focuses on a festival invitation which has the townspeople excited and working on their costumes and events to participate in. This is an ongoing series which I eagerly await each new release. You need to start at book one to get the full background and to enjoy the series. Full of wonderful characters, mystery, humor, and a mischievous cat. It’s an adventurous mystery series written with cleaver imagination.

I received a free copy from the author and voluntarily reviewed it.

Jousting and Justice is the fifth book in this series and I was excited to return to Destiny Falls for another visit. I picked this up when I was in the mood for something light and fun and this book definitely delivered. This is such a fun series! There's something magical and whimsical about the town of Destiny falls and it's such a lovely place to visit. But there is danger and mystery too.

In Jousting and Justice there is a lot going on. There's another murder mystery, an upcoming medieval festival as well as some ongoing character related plot lines and mysteries. There are some great reveals and twists and turns in this one too. We finally learn who the good witch is who lives in Destiny Falls and the reveal made perfect sense, but I totally had guessed wrong. This book kept me reading and I was sad when it ended.

The mystery was an interesting one with a few well done twists. I liked how Hayden got involved this one and it was interesting to see what they find out along the way. The reveal at the end of why had done it took me by surprise, it made sense, but also made me sad.

The build up to the medieval festival that takes place late in the book was fun. Everyone is preparing for the festival and looking forward to it. It was fun to read about this. As the reader you also get a few chapters from the point of view of the evil witch and this adds some tension to the book as I wondered how they would avoid the fate she had planned for them.

It was fun to spend some time with the big groups of characters in this book. It's so nice to see Hayden be surrounded by such a large group of friends and family and how everyone looks out for her. It's great to see how much she appreciates all of them too. And it's nice to see more of all the characters and learn new things about them in each book.

The magical vibe of this series is great and I like how the magical aspect is a bit more subtle, but very interesting. From the ever changing house to the Hayden's ghostly friend, to the way the magic of the island works and the witches ofcourse. It's always fun to spend time there and see more of the magical island.

To summarize: This was another fun read in this series! This book has a lot going on with another murder mystery, an upcoming medieval festival and several character related plot lines. I really enjoyed this book and following Hayden along as she prepared for the festival and tries to solve the mystery. The mystery and plot had some interesting twists and turns and took me by surprise multiple times. It's so fun to read about Destiny Falls and the characters that live there and it's always a joy to read another book in this series. I am looking forward to the next one!

Reading this book has been a delight. After receiving this book, I purchased the first four in this series. If you are purchasing “Jousting and Justice,” you might want to consider doing the same…but it is not necessary. The author has woven fantasy elements into a cozy mystery. Normally, I don’t do fantasy at all. However, this author was able to grab my attention from page 1 and keep it all the way through.

One thing I really like is that the author does not reiterate the beginning to Hayden coming to Destiny Falls over and over again in each book. She alludes to it and Hayden’s history while drawing the readers interest enough to encourage the reader to grab the other four books in the series. Hayden, her family, and friends are fully developed characters that still evolve in each book. I’m looking forward to number six and discovering the next event and development.

The fantasy part…who wouldn’t want to go through a portal to an alternate place that is just a deeper dimension than the one in which you already exist? And you manage to keep in contact with people who are you’re family and friends in the other dimension. So many things to explore and new relationships to iron out.

Do yourself a big favor! Grab this book…and #1 if possible since it sets the stage for what is to follow. You’ll be patting yourself on the back for making such a good choice.

This book was given to me and this review is being provided without bias. And it did lead to me purchasing the remaining four in the series.

I was so excited to read this book with the way book 4 ended. I was not disappointed. This book is now my new favorite in the series. I loved the scenes at the festival especially when Hayden and Axel are being rescued by their friends. This book further answers questions that Hayden (and the readers) is seek about her family and Destiny Falls past and future. Eagerly awaiting the next book in the series.

Jousting and Justice is the latest book in the whimsical cozy mystery series by Elizabeth Pantley, Destiny Falls Mystery and Magic. Though you can read this book on its own, I don't recommend that you do. You really won't know the characters or what is going on if you don't read the books prior to this.

Each book in the series contains its own mystery which is solved by the end. However, there is a mystery that begins in the first book and is not solved even at the conclusion of this book since there will be more books in the series.

The mystery in Jousting and Justice begins in Hayden's newspaper office when she discovers a dead body in the archive room. Not only do they need to find out who murdered this man, but they also need to find out who the man was. No one recognizes him, so that makes the mystery even more intriguing.

As with the prior books, the characters in Jousting and Justice are well written. There is definitely an eclectic mix of characters. I don't want to spoil anything by telling you about many of the characters whom I adore! It is really fun to discover them in the books on your own.

By reading the prior books, you can better appreciate the character development. I really love Hayden's grandmother. I feel like her character goes through the biggest change throughout the series. Though she has always been the way she is, we have the enjoyable experience of seeing her personality unveiled in the series. She is much different than how she was in book one.

This book is well paced. Though there were a couple of scenes that were a bit slow for me, by the second half of the book I was reading very quickly. It only took me a day and a half to finish Jousting and Justice because it kept me interested in not only the mystery but also the festival in which many of Destiny Falls's residents attend. It is elaborately described, so you feel as if you are attending the festival along with everyone else. I won't say anything more about the festival, but it has many exciting moments.

If you enjoy light-hearted cozy mysteries with a magical theme, you will really enjoy not only this book but also the entire series. With its eclectic mix of characters, magical setting, and intriguing mystery, Jousting and Justice is a book I definitely recommend. Since the books are quick easy reads, I definitely suggest beginning with book one!

Hayden's next adventure is filled with misdirection and friends, family and fun. An invitation to a medieval festival on the "Forbidden Island" starts an adventure full of many twists and turns. Some questions are answered in unexpected ways and other are asked that the reader didn't know needed asking. A murder, a festival and tons of family and friends the new adventure keeps getting better and better.

In Latifah‘s words “buckle up, buttercup!“
One can always tell that Elizabeth Pantley’s book is magnificent by my reactions to the last sentence of the book. Jousting and Justice, book 5, especially took the wind out of my sails! First, I did not expect to be at the end! Second, the closing event just blew me away. Absolutely as wildly imaginative and adventurous as the previous books, and even more so, in that pretty much the book begins with an unsolved murder almost right off the bat. Also, a festival invitation begins a wild adventure with wonder and mystery, and surprisingly grandmother approves of people attending this festival even though it is on another island. Several revelations about abilities of familiar characters happened during the contest at the festival… always surprising and always phenomenal! And yet you find yourself thinking there probably were clues how could I miss them?
The answer to that question lies in the creative imaginative skill that Elizabeth Pantley accesses in weaving her tales.
I seem to find that more and more clues and information are revealed earlier in the books, and during this one, very soon off we find a backstory of what is behind the festival.
Mysteries that seem to be solved early on, plus answers to many questions, are then upended later when an event happens that rules out that supposedly correct answer or a solution. Even up to the very end things can change!!
It’s amazing that there is so much from the very first book, yet as everyone progresses up to this one, there is so much more involved and created by Pantley’s imaginative and expert tale weaving skills! She places us right at Hayden side in Destiny Falls, on the ferry, on the other island, and in all of the terrifying or wonderful situations. Her extremely descriptive and colorful language expertly create pictures of what you are doing, where you are, and all the feelings each character experiences. You. ARE. There!! Much like the events that caused Hayden to feel the world around her drop away and her become immersed in a small event of magic, when I read these books I am not in my own space anymore; her crafting what is happening portrays it so completely and particularly in each aspect causes my world to drop away.
I am sent off on a cruise to a magical place, a gift from this talented lovely lady, that gives me a reprieve from mundane and stressful life.
Once again I say do not miss reading these books! I cannot recall ever enjoying and being so engrossed in reading a series, not even way back as a young child reading some of my most intriguing books. I
If there were more than five stars I would definitely give more! In this case it’s at least 10 stars worth double the wonderful! Go read!! Destiny Falls is a location you cannot miss visiting, experiencing, enjoying, and pondering!

I am a huge fan of the Destiny Falls Mystery series by Elizabeth Pantley but nothing prepares you for what is in store for readers in the fifth book in this series, Jousting and Justice...... The entire book is going to shock readers and when you get to the end and think you are in the clear, Pantley throws a huge wrench in the mix and leaves the reader in complete disbelief and unable to move, you will be as frozen as Destiny Falls is when Hayden gets visits from the ghost Gaspar.

In Jousting and Justice there is a lot going on but readers of this series should already have the understanding that no matter what happens, you will not get lost at all. First off the entire island of Destiny Falls is invited to a medieval festival and they believe it is on the forbidden island Gladstone. Hayden and her brother Axel are excited to go because that is where their mother is living and recently their father went to live with her so they are hopeful to see them both. But while they are learning more on medieval festivals, the clothing and picking out their outfits for the event, Hayden finds her office for the newspaper a mess and a dead body in the archive room. And when they find out the identity of the deceased, they uncover a lot of secrets behind this person as well as a lot of suspects and reasons to want him dead.

Fortunately they can leave the investigating in the able hands of their dear friend, Sheriff Jaxson Redford, so they could focus on the festival and preparing for that. Unfortunately when they arrive at the island for the festival, they find out that they are not at Gladstone but a smaller island actually called the forbidden island. They decide to not let that fact ruin their day so the group go about the day enjoying the festival. Unfortunately there is some excited while they are participating in the final event, a parade of all the winners from the days competitions...... I will leave it at that because I do not want to spoil it for those that will read this book.

There is so much to love about the Destiny Falls Mystery series..... an entire island that has magical components throughout the island, people with magical abilities, cats that can talk to Hayden and she understands them, a strong family bond and friendships that are just as strong, humor, murder, love..... so much !!!!

I will leave the readers with this..... every time I read the latest book in this series, it becomes my favorite book in the series. That is still true with Jousting and Justice however.... I did not like the way that Pantley ended this book !! She always ends her books with readers being left speechless and wanting more....this time she leaves readers with mouths opened wide, speechless and unable to comprehend what they just read....some may do what I did and over look the two words, The End, and turn the page anyway to see if possibly there is more. Pantley knows how to leave the readers entertained but hooked and looking forward to the next book. I honestly do not know how I am going to be able to wait for the sixth book......maybe I can start a support group and we can all help each other get through the time.....

Hear ye, hear ye! Our Fluffy, Fabulous, Far-Fetched, but oh so Fun series is back with the Fifth instalment. If you ask my expert opinion - it's the best one yet. If you haven't read this fabulous series, you absolutely need to check out the first 4 instalments in this series.

Jousting and Justice starts with Latifa's Knight in Shining Armor ringing the doorbell. A mysterious envelope was left on the doorstep and it was addressed to The Caldwell Family (of which the cats are obviously members too).

Come One, Come All

Citizens of Destiny Falls ye are invited to a Grande Event

The very First Medieval Festival

Located on the Forbidden Island

Please Join in the Feasting, Entertainment, and Merrymaking

You can just imagine all the squeals and meows happening all over Destiny Falls. A Renaissance Fair! Now doesn't that sound like the most fun ever. In a small town, events like that is a very big deal. Every human, feline, witch and gollum is planning their costumes and practicing their skills. Through all the hassle and dazzle, a few hidden talents, skills, secrets and one dead body is revealed.

Poor Hayden is once again the fortunate one to discover the body, in her office of all places, and Latifa was hiding under the bed due to the shock. I do the same when I'm scared or upset. Luckily we both have such loving families to take care of us and cook us delicious and comforting meals. Bear is still cooking and baking up a storm and his creations are nothing but magical. (No one but Latifa seems to ever gain an ounce, magic indeed)

Dead bodies lead to new discoveries and new adventures that Hayden and Axel are but too eager to explore and just like Latifa, we buckle-up and go along for the ride. Destiny Falls still resembles Hallmarkville and to quote Hayden:

"It's exactly like that! But it's not a romantic comedy. It's exactly like a Hallmark Mystery Channel movie."

But for once the murder mystery takes a backseat to the upcoming Medieval Fair. All might not be as fair as expected though. I believe the phrase the forbidden island, should have given the gang a clue. But in this world of talking kittens and double rainbows, of course they only see the sunshine and sparkles. I really, really ended up in the wrong universe. How, oh how do I get to Destiny Falls??

Never mind all the misdirection and misinterpretations, the Medieval Fair was the highlight of this book. What fun we had dancing and jousting with the inhabitants of the island. It was the silliest fun we've had in a long time. A few big secrets are revealed and nope - we did not see that! But it's perfect.

Of course there are still more to come in this series and we are ever so excited to realize that there are much, much more than we can even dream to imagine. Thank you dearest Elizabeth for once again entertaining us for hours and for leaving me purring and Mommy smiling with pure happiness and contentment.

Jousting and Justice by Elizabeth Pantley
The Fifth Destiny Falls Mystery & Magic Book

All of Destiny Falls is excited. Everyone is invited to a medieval festival on the forbidden island. Given the opportunity to see her parents, how can Hayden resist? Since her even her grandmother is going it must be safe. Mustn't it? Her exuberance is dampened when Hayden makes an awful discovery. Her office has been ransacked and there's a dead body in the back. Whoever broke in was looking for something, but what? Who is the murdered man? Will Hayden and her family and friends solve the murder and still enjoy a festival away from Destiny Falls? Or does a certain witch have other plans?

A medieval faire! What fun. Having been to a faire or two in my time I was as excited to read about one as the citizens of Destiny Falls were to actually attend one. Excitement and energy suffuse the pages by vivid descriptions and engaging storytelling. I was fully immersed in the story with its fun characters and intriguing storyline.

As in previous books in the series, there is a self contained mystery which is resolved by the end of the story and an over arcing mystery which continues to develop, flourish, and grow through each book. While I enjoy each mystery, I am enthralled by the bigger mystery that is Destiny Falls. The author is also very clever in formatting her series in this way. The primary mystery is solved, so readers are content, but she's still able to leave cliff hangers so readers, like me, are desperate to know what happens next and are ready to devour the next book whenever it is released.

The fifth Destiny Falls Mystery is full of surprises. Secrets are slowly revealed, some in jaw dropping ways. New revelations about a villain come to surface and we have more of a clue of just who is pulling the strings...maybe.

JOUSTING AND JUSTICE is a book that stirs the heart strings, values friends and family for better or worse, makes you grin, and keeps you coming back for more. I can't wait to read what happens next!

This has been a delightful series to read. There is something about the characters, setting, and mysteries that draw me in and keep me coming back to Destiny Falls.

While this book could be read as a standalone, you will be better off starting at the beginning of the series to truly understand how Hayden came to Destiny Falls, meet the rest of the family, and have a better grasp of the dynamics of this town and island.

The town will be attending a medieval festival on another island and everyone is excited. However, they don't know the true story behind the festival, at least not in time to not attend. Even though everyone is in frantic preparations for the festival, a dead body is still found and this time in Hayden's newspaper office. What they uncover is more than they expected and many were surprised at the turn of events. There are a few suspects but new details thwart their efforts to uncover the killer quickly.

We are introduced to the Knitting Club when Hayden is told to go undercover to try and learn some information from one of the members. I love the name of the yarn shop, Knitty Gritty, and while I love the thought of knitting, it isn't something I have tried myself yet. Maybe one day. There is a surprise member that Hayden discovers at her first meeting. You might never guess who and I'm not going to tell you, so pick up the book and find out.

There are so many characters to love in this series from Bear the personal chef for the Caldwell family to Han, Hayden's love interest. He isn't in the book very much since he was called away for a security emergency. But that is ok because Hayden has plenty to keep her busy until his return. There is also the cat trio of Latifa, Lola, and Chanel, which add a little flavor to the story. Lola is still a kitten and I can imagine her voice in my head anytime she says something.

This has been a fun series to read and there is so much to learn about the characters and the town. I can't wait to read the next book to learn more. We give this book 5 paws up.

The adventures of Hayden Caldwell continue in Jousting and Justice, the fifth book in the Destiny Falls Mystery & Magic series by Elizabeth Pantley. Hayden is a permanent resident on the enchanted island of Destiny Falls. She enjoys her job as the local newspaper editor. When her office is burglarized and a dead body discovered inside, Hayden gets caught up in the murder investigation. While the Caldwell family and the local sheriff work together on the case, Hayden is also busy getting ready for the very first medieval festival on the island. Will the festival cause problems for anyone? Will the homicide be solved, or will the guilty party elude being captured?

Pantley has penned another delightful sequel in the series with a strong, memorable cast of characters who take on a life of their own and resonate with readers. Good descriptive writing captures readers’ attention and creates vivid images in their minds, which, in turn, pulls readers into the story as if they are beside the characters experiencing everything along with them.

Pantley does an excellent job of delivering well-placed twists and turns that leads to a surprise ending. The author interweaves a challenging mystery on a magical and supernatural island with telepathic cats, mythical creatures, supernatural beings, a budding romance, a supportive network of family and friends, fun activities, and deceptive behaviors.

The books in the Destiny Falls Mystery & Magic series can be read independently of each other. However, readers who want to be in on the ground floor with the characters and follow their evolution will want to read the books in order. The book could use better proofreading, but it does not detract from the overall enjoyment of the story. Pantley leaves readers in anticipation of what happens next for Hayden as she faces more adventures in the upcoming sixth book of this wonderfully written and captivating series.

All I can say is WOW! With two themes to follow and the wonderful characters of Destiny Falls. I love this series! Hayden, her cat Latifa and her brother Axel are excited that the whole town gets invited to a medieval festival on the island of Gladstone. But will the dead body found in Hayden's office at the paper keep them from going. And who is he? No, I don't think so and they are happy to leave the investigating to Sheriff Redford although they feel the need to look into it too. When they get to the island festival, they find they are not actually on the Island of Gladstone but a smaller Island-another Forbidden Island. But that does not stop them especially that is where their mother went to live and their father went to follow her. So they thought maybe they could find them. We are treated to many threads happening between finding a murderer and the strange forbidden island medieval festival among other happenings. This book has you turning pages and reading in one sitting since so much is happening you just can't put it down! I really got drawn into this series from the first book and this book leaves you with a major surprise ending that you just can't stop saying WOW! I received and ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

This is the 5th book in this series; I’ve read and enjoyed them all. This could be read as a standalone, but it would be much more enjoyable to read the series in order. The author has created a magnificent magical world and this book, with a Renaissance Faire theme, is particularly fun. Like each book, there is a good mystery or more to solve and then the last few books have ended in cliffhangers. And this one ended with a biggie! I usually abhor cliffhangers, but it’s too late, because I’m already in love with the series and need to know what happens next! I’ve loved watching Hayden mature in such a short time, as her relationships with family members have grown, she has sought out new friends, and now has a romance progressing. I can highly recommend this book and series; I was provided an arc, but these opinions are my own.

Hayden receives an invitation to a medieval festival.
It turns out that the whole town has received the invitation to go to the forbidden island.
Everyone knows that means the Gladstone Island, and Hayden is looking forward to seeing her mom and dad.
Hayden, as editor of the newspaper, is also trying to help solve the murder of a man who not only trashed her office at the newspaper building, but was also killed there.
Why was he there in the first place?
Han has been called away on one of his secret missions. Giving Hayden time to focus both on the murder and the festival, and not have time to worry about any potential danger he may be in.
Of course, the wicked witch is still up to her tricks to try and regain the power she once had.
And this time her plan may be good enough to pull the wool over not only her very powerful sister, but also Hayden's sister.
This is a stand alone book, but, it may be easier to read the series from the beginning to get the full background of some of the references given during the story.

This is another fun story with developed characters with a bit of humor along with some mischief from a certain cat.

Hear ye Hear ye, come join us for a Medieval Festival at the forbidden island!!!! All of Destiny Falls goes all in for this Medieval Festival they think is in Gladstone, especially Hayden and Axel who think they may actually get to see their parents. They soon realize that it's not Gladstone they're headed for but have a wonderful time at the festival. As their grandmother says " things aren't always as it seems". As usual there are twists and turns that you never see coming, and we finally find out who the good witch is (Gaspar the ghosts oldest daughter).

Why do I like the book "Jousting and Justice" even tho I am usually not a fan of fantasy books?
For one thing the author has a way of pulling you into the story and has since book 1 of the series. Now on book 5 everything is still fresh and not bogged down by repeating of how Hayden came to this wonderfully magical place.
Also, this book has everything in it from an invitation to a medieval festival on the forbidden island to a murder mystery that Hayden and her gang will want to solve.
What don't I like about this book? The fact that while you don't have to, you really should read books 1-4 to get the full effect and understand everything about this book.

Book 5 did not disappoint me, the only problem is that I have to wait until book 6 comes out. The author has created a wonderful location and characters with bringing in magic, suspense, murder, and of course some romance. With the start of the book you are drawn into the story and do to want to put it down! Hayden has a knack for stumbling into dangerous situations, but is discovering that she has a big network of family and friends that will be there for her. She has a positive can do attitude that is contagious, and a real zest for life.

I highly recommend this book to everyone who wants a little murder mystery and magic to go right along with their story. Hayden and the crew are on another adventure. Almost the entire town has been invited to a mysterious island to take part in a medieval festival. They are all excited about the trip and the activities involved. Everyone is getting their costumes together and practicing for the events they plan to enter. Even the cats are getting involved. Along the way though another person is murdered in a break in at Hayden’s newspaper office and they have to solve it before it becomes an even bigger issue. Identities are revealed and things are not as they seem in the next installment of Destiny Falls Mysteries and Magic.

The fifth book in the Destiny Falls series was a real page turner. I found it had to put down! I was surprised at who turned out to be Nemmy's sister( I will not spoil that here!). The characters are well drawn out, and the humor from Latifah is great. These books make for a great escape read. I am lookin g forward to the next book in the series.

Hayden and friends are going on an adventure. Hayden thinks she is going to the island where her parents are living, but is she? Meanwhile she finds a dead body in her newspaper office. Who is the man and why is he in her office? They look for answers and prepare to go the festival, but all isn't what it seems. Will they find the killer, and will Hayden and Axel come back from the forbidden island? Not sure what is going on, but they need to figure it out quick.

I loved this book but then again I have enjoyed every mysterious adventure in to this magical world.
This is book five in the series and it just gets better and better, especially as we learn more about the characters and the magical island. There is a long running mystery which focus on mystical island and the characters that live there, which we learn more about in each new book. Then there is a murder that needs solving, this one does get wrapped up. Both are interesting and well worked into the plot of the adventure but it is the characters that have me returning time and again, The characters are all so much fun from the bright and colourful Cellobella and her wonderful costumes, Latifa the sneaky mystery solving cat, Bear the Bear shifter cook, the full of surprises Grandmother to name just a few and trust me there are a whole lot more. I liked the medieval festival theme through out the story and it was so easy to picture, I am sure I heard the clashing of the lances. The story is not left on a cliff hanger as such but it has set it up for the next book, so be prepared to want to the next book. Just a great book written by a talented author that paints pictures with words but don't just take my word for it, give it a go yourself and make up your own mind.

It's not everyday that Hayden receives an invitation to a medieval festival on the forbidden island but when she and the rest of the resident's from the island of Destiny Falls get one it creates a party atmosphere. The only dampener is a mess in her office and the discovery of a dead body. Costume planning is put on hold as Hayden and the rest of the gang try to find out who the dead man was and more importantly who killed him. Why was he in Hayden's office in the first place? A note seems to show he was set up and his death was planned. But why? Hayden and the gang investigation leads them to a number of secrets but with the medieval festival it's self having secrets, things are going to get dicey.

I liked the narrator. She is just as colourful and entertaining as the story its self.

This is the fifth book in the series and it is solidly at the top of my list for paranormal mysteries!
Just when I think the series cannot get any better, it does.
It was absolutely magical! I could not put this book down, it grabbed me from the first page. It has a great premise.
The characters are written full of life and jumped off the page. The whodunit kept me intrigued and guessing.
I cannot wait to read the next one.

I received a free copy of the ebook from the author. All opinions shared are 100% my own.

Hayden and her Destiny Falls family and friends are back in the fifth installment of the Destiny Falls Mystery & Magic series. A mysterious invitation arrives to come to the “Forbidden Island” for a medieval festival! When Hayden’s secretive, and possibly magical, grandmother okays the trip to the festival, the whole family, and most of the residents of Destiny Falls, start planning costumes, make plans to enter contests, and generally get super excited for this adventure off their island.

Unfortunately, Hayden is also caught up in another murder investigation. The former editor of the small town paper she now runs is found dead in the office archive room - double poisoned and stabbed in the back. Someone wanted him dead and wanted him dead good. Hayden and her brother Axel spend a lot of time together helping Jaxson, the sheriff, solve this mystery, learning that the editor wasn’t such a nice guy and maybe a lot of people would have wanted him dead! One definite deviation from the cozy mystery norm here is that law enforcement regularly enlists our heroine's aid in solving crimes. It’s a bit of a nice change from the antagonistic relationship most cozy heroines have with the local constabulary.

So many mysteries solved here. At least for me, none were obvious as I read. I also don’t spend a lot of time trying to figure out the mystery as I read. I always have my guesses as I go along but I’m not too worried about being right and I like it when the reveal is a surprise. There is a lot of adventure in this book. Hayden travels to the other side of Destiny Falls’s island and finds out just how large the island really is. She travels off the island to the “Forbidden Island” and has a grand adventure there (at a Renaissance Festival that I’d love to visit).

Most of the cast of characters is here with a couple of notable people missing, including Han, Hayden’s boyfriend, and her parents. Hayden hopes to see them both at the festival but a turn of events makes that not possible (no spoilers!). Han is called off on one of his mysterious missions early in the book. I will say he is “back” in the story right at the very end… in a way that has me anxiously awaiting Book 6!

When I first started this series, I always had this fear that there was going to be a plot twist that Hayden’s new Destiny Falls family wasn’t as wonderful as they first appeared. I am quite thankful that I was wrong and they really are wonderful. Hayden learns new things about other friends on the island as well that… just Oh. My. Gosh! The cats are here as well and just as adorable, especially as baby Lola starts “talking” to Hayden! I haven’t had a series that I anxiously await the next installment in a while, but this one is definitely in that camp! When a new book is released, it always goes to the top of my TBR pile. All right, Elizabeth… get to crackin' on book 6!

Jousting and Justice by Elizabeth Pantley is the 5th book in her fun Destiny Falls Mystery & Magic series. Refresher: Hayden, who now fully lives in Destiny Falls with her talking cat, Latifa, and is happy in her new magical world, being a member of her powerful Caldwell family, as well as many new friends, and boyfriend, Han. Hayden still is determined to meet her mother, who is stuck in the evil Gladstone realm.

It is always nice to spend time with Hayden, our heroine, and the wonderful characters (and cats) of Destiny Falls. Jousting and Justice begins with a surprise invitation to a medieval festival in Gladstone, with the Ferry bringing them there. Hayden is at first concerned, but when her grandmother says she will set up protection for them, and they (the entire town) will go and have fun; and Hayden looks forward to seeing her mother and father in Gladstone.

Everyone begins to prepare to attend the festival, making medieval costumes, etc. When Hayden goes to her newspaper office, she discovers that the office was broken into, and finds an unidentified dead body. She calls together the group, Jaxson (police chief), Han (boyfriend), Axel (her brother) to try to figure out who the dead man is and why in her office. What were they looking for?

When everyone went on the Ferry, they realized that they were not going to Gladstone, and instead ended up on a small mysterious island. However, the entire event went on with a wonderful time enjoying the medieval experience. As the day nears end, both Hayden and Axel are sideswiped toward another boat, missing the Ferry; the wicked witch whom we knew about from previous books had them trapped. Will the family who put the protection up be able to save them? There was a lot of intrigue and surprises along the way. To say too much more would be spoilers, and this series should be read from start to finish, as the story is a continuation.

I loved how Hayden’s wonderful talking magical cat, Latifa would gather family and cats to try and solve the murder. Overall, Latifa was a blast, so much fun. During the festival we did learn more about some of the people in Destiny Falls, who had surprising abilities, and we also learn who is the good witch sister.

Jousting and Justice was another delightful lighthearted mystery, in a magical and charming enchanted realm, Destiny Falls. This is a fun cozy murder fantasy whodunit, that was intriguing and kept our attention from start to finish. Once again, I absolutely loved the cats and their meetings to help solve the crimes. I look forward to the next book, as this ended with a surprise twist. Another fun cozy book by Elizabeth Pantley, that was well written.

Hayden Caldwell is stunned to find a dead body on the floor of her newspaper office. Nobody knows who the man is, but the search is on to identify him.

Meanwhile, Hayden is more than a little excited to receive an invitation to a medieval festival. She thinks it will give her a chance to see her father and meet her mother in person for the first time. She’s not the only one to receive an invitation. Hayden, her brother and their friends all plan their overnight stay at the island hosting the event.

Between the murder mystery and the medieval festival preparations, Hayden has her hands full. It’s a good thing she has her faithful Himalayan cat, Latifa, by her side.

What an absolute delight this series is! It’s the 5th book in the series and I feel more a part of Destiny Falls every time. Talk about seeing old friends again. That’s how I feel each time I open one of these books. It’s a continuing series. I highly recommend you begin with the first book to gain the full experience.

Elizabeth Pantley outdoes herself with each book. She has become a master storyteller. She paints a vivid, beautiful portrait of Destiny Falls and the people who live there. This series has turned me into a paranormal cozy mystery fans. I’m enjoying accompanying Hayden on this journey to discover her true heritage and meeting some wacky folks along the way. I need another fix of this series and soon!

When I start a new series of books, I normally like to start with Book 1 and read them in order. I feel like I become invested in the characters and enjoy following them as they progress through the different books in the series. As a result, I’m never sure when I read a book from the middle, or end of a series, if I’m going to have trouble following the story. I was pleasantly surprised when I read “Jousting and Justice” how much of a fast and interesting read that it turned out to be and even though it is near the end of the Destiny Falls Magic and Mystery Series, I found it easy to follow the story and found it very hard to put down. This is a type of series that doesn’t typically interest me but feel like I would like to read the rest of the books, in the series, now. This book caught my eye because of the two different mysteries that make up the story. I enjoyed reading about Hayden and her friends in the magical place of Destiny Falls and how excited they are for the Medieval Festival on the “Forbidden Island”, especially Hayden who hopes to meet up with her mother and father. Then there was the second “Island” mystery. It was almost comical reading about how the witch on the island, where the festival is going to take place, uses all the modern conveniences at her disposal to prepare for the festival in hopes that she will capture the two main characters in the story and then when her plan fails, her attempts to get away. The ending to the Murder Mystery surprised me. I never expected the murderer to be who it ended up being. All in all it was a unique and interesting read.
