Rate this book
As winter snow melts into spring, froggies croak and robins sing. Soon there'll be a holiday . . .Dino-Easter's on its way! Celebrate with the dinos as they gather flowers for a spring bouquet, throw an egg painting party, pet newborn farm animals, visit a chocolate factory, and join an Easter parade with Peter Clobbertail. At last it's time for the egg hunt. Will Raptor finally get to eat his treats? Dinosaurs big and small gather to decorate, eat, and even compete in party festivities like only prehistoric carnivores and herbivores would. Lisa Wheeler and Barry Gott―creators of the enormously popular Dino-Sports picture books―team up to create celebrations of epic proportions!

Lisa Wheeler continues her series of holiday books featuring Dinosaurs (there are ten others that are sports themed). Other holiday books include Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. This Easter themed book uses many different dinosaurs doing activities for the holiday like; enjoying flowers, dying eggs, Easter-egg hunting, participating in a parade etc. The colorful pictures and rhyming words are the draw for these books. Also using the names or nick-names Stego/Stegosaurus add to learning about the different types of dinosaurs, These books are very popular in my elementary school library and I already have this book on orders, The only oddity was the ending where the Dinos were looking forward to Valentines. It might be the next book but it doesn't follow calendar wise. Thank you NetGalley and the author for allowing me to read an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

Dino-Easter by Lisa Wheeler is a children's fiction picture book written in rhymes throughout. It is about a community of dinosaurs getting ready for the Easter holiday. I liked how it was educational as well with certain facts about different dinosaurs thrown in occasionally. I found it to be inspirational that so many kinds of dinosaurs and animals were all community oriented and lived amongst each other in a loving environment. The illustrations were amazing and overall I loved this book. I recommend to all librarians as well as parents looking for quality children's books. I will purchase this book for my library!

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and author for an arc of Dino-Easter!

This was such a fun Easter and Dinosaur themed story!

Likes:
-Included many different dinosaur types and names and nicknames (Diplo for Diplodocus)
-Showcased different Spring/Easter activities and concepts such as egg dying, flower bouquets, baby animals, hiding/hunting eggs, candy, and a parade.
- Funny parts of the book included T-Rex needing help reaching for items when egg dying and a raptor constantly trying to eat eggs.
-Many different themed verbs: croak, sing, blossom, boil, cook, paint, peel, eat, hide, place, tuck, find, spot, hug, bite, etc.
-The rhyming makes the story flow so nicely.
-The illustrations were gorgeous!

Dislikes:
-I was a bit confused at the end when the dinos dream about Valentine's Day. Valentine's Day would have already passed and it seems like it would make more sense to dream about an upcoming holiday like Halloween or Thanksgiving rather than one that was months before. It didn't runit the story but it just seemed out of order.

Overall, a great thematic story that is perfect for introducing Easter/Dino vocabulary and concepts to young children (preschool-2nd grade)

Thank you to NetGalley, Lerner Publishing Group, and the Author and Illustrator for the opportunity to read and review this book before it's publication date! This in no way affected my review, opinions are my own. #DinoEaster #NetGalley

Author Lisa Wheeler and illustrator Barry Gott return with their ever-popular Dino series and this time the gang of prehistoric beasts is doing Easter. The spring flowers are blooming, eggs are being dyed, hidden and hunted, and they are all getting dressed up for the big Easter parade. Like the others in the series, the dinosaurs represented are ones identified by paleontologists, but often their scientific names are shortened and certainly the illustrations are cartoon-like, however, preschool-2nd grade students who know them will recognize key traits. Another fun book that should be added to libraries serving preschool and younger elementary aged students.

Thanks for the print arc, Lerner Publishing Group.

Easter book featuring dinosaur characters. Weird how it ended with them looking forward to Valentine's Day when it is not the next holiday

At times the dinosaurs were shortened names and not in a way to make it easy to know what dinosaurs they were. It would have been better, less rhymes but easier to know the dinosaurs

I love Wheeler's dinosaurs and appreciate her branching into the holidays along with the sports series. The dinosaurs experience all the fun events of Easter together.

Cute. Maybe a little long but if you love Dinos, Easter and references to a certain chocolate factory you’ll enjoy this mashup.
