without a doubt this is one of the best manga series i've ever read in terms of story progression and action. I CAN'T GET OVER HOW UNPUTDOWNABLE THIS MANGA IS. every volume is intense and the character arcs seem to get better as the story progresses. blue lock is the moment!!! this is definitely a favorite now.

damn choosing your rival because you're so petty, you want him to see you ascend as the best striker in the world. talk about obsession over a wildcard appearing in your life to mess things up in the best way possible.

4.5 ⭐️

Finally, Isagi is really starting to shine in these soccer matches. Those last few plays against Rin and Bachira were awesome. Speaking of Bachira!!! His solo rampage had me fully convinced the match was wrapped up and won. It’s great to see that despite joining Blue Lock to make friends and find company for his ‘monster’, he now appreciates his own talents and feels like he’d be okay moving on without Isagi.

The game that started last volume is still going. No, seriously, that’s this entire volume.

Obviously I enjoy Blue Lock on some level or I wouldn’t continue to read it every time a new volume drops, or make that observation constantly, but it is with the heavy asterisk that this is not my style of manga and the general craziness and fluidity of art manages to save the day.

Unquestionably the best part of this volume is the shocking moment of actual character growth where we see Bachiru, Isagi’s friend from early on, come to a realization that’s actually been surprisingly well seeded from the get-go and leads to a pretty good conclusion/arc for him.

It also sets up a smartly done conclusion to the match proper which doesn’t invalidate what came before it, proves to be actually interesting, while also setting up some solid conflict for the future of the series.

The problem, of course, is the trappings, which remain cuckoo in all respects, nobody batting an eye at the holo-goalies any more, since this series’ argument is that goalies might as well be nothing since they can’t storm down the field like testosterone bombs waiting to explode in a shower of precious goals.

Isagi meets his literal match in Rin, who has the same power as him, but knows how to use it far differently. The problem here is that this ridiculous power suddenly revs up to the point of clairvoyance and Isagi’s counter is to try and see further into the future. Apparently the answer is to be unpredictable, which to my untrained eye appears to translate into doing the dumbest thing possible.

At the rate this is escalating, he’ll be playing the next game in his head during his current ones. It’s a bit much, as is all the incredible oratory these kids deliver as they shuffle back and forth playing a sporting game while trying to outplot each other like this is Death Note. I mean, it’s the series schtick, but it’s a smidge overblown at this stage.

Elsewhere, our loan female shows up for a few panels to lean provocatively over desks in ways that can’t be good for her back, while Ego craps on her for daring to have an opinion that he didn’t give to her. There’s this volume’s representation for you.

2.5 stars - I don’t see the point in belabouring yet another volume of what I think is mostly okay. I think the next one might be a bit more interesting since it will not be all football action, which is the main thrust of the series, but I was really drained after a whole volume of it this time out. Rounding up for a conclusion I appreciated.

That ending was not what I expected but let’s do this. I don’t know how the next arc is gonna top this one.

The match was pretty intense, I honestly had no idea who would win. Honestly I am a little disappointed at the results, I had high hopes. Bachira made me a little sad too 😭

Balls to walls plays and twist..I actually didn't see the ending coming but also I love it? A nice surprise that shifts the upcoming volumes in interesting ways. I'm loving how teams keep changing.

The genuis has been slayed! Outsmarting Rin Isagi scores a goal

•That scene gave me chills😖

•This is by far the best volume. So good had my heart beating so fast. First of all is Rin human like i know these are fictional characters but he be doing so much and he's pushing the limits of soccer to a whole another level.

•I'm hoping that Nagi and Isagi team up again in the future though they make a good pair. And a moment of silence for how they made my man Bachira look so week😭😭. Lastly excited to see how Rin and Isagi play on one team.

My brain is too full of Rin to care about anyone else. Bachira is sad lonely boy but actually paying attention to Rin's character development is INSAAAAAANNNEEEE it's so good i'm not even mad that there's been so much of his backstory in the PXG game now

Rin was never one of my top characters but between him and Barou my rankings are getting SHOOKETH
