Lives Intertwined #2

Long-Distance Loving

Rate this book
Keeping the home fires burning . . . .

Dorothy Rice Bennett’s sixth lesbian romance novel is a sequel to her last book, LIVES INTERTWINED: Love on Sequim Bay (2020), set in Sequim, Washington, on the beautiful Olympic Peninsula.

LONG-DISTANCE LOVING focuses on two of the main characters from the preceding novel, vet tech Brittany Forrest and lawn girl Ginger Robbins, with the additional heroines from the first book, Aggie, Wilma, Lori, and Teddi, appearing in supportive roles.

Brittany and Ginger have moved into an old farmhouse with acreage on Washington’s Sequim Prairie after spending nearly a year in a shared residence owned by a Sequim widow, Aggie Hollister. That experience in the big house overlooking Sequim Bay led to a friendship between Brit and Ginger—then a steamy romance and a fledgling relationship.

Now Ginger is camping in the outdated Olympic Peninsula farmhouse with her Schnauzer Spice and Brit’s rescue dog Chica, while Brit has gone off to graduate school in veterinary science in Corvallis, Oregon. Having only lived together for a few weeks, both Brit and Ginger are lonely and fear for their relationship when they are so far apart and will seldom see each other during the next four years.

Brit and Ginger struggle in their own ways to remain connected, hold onto their loving feelings, and protect their dream for the future. Can they pull it off, or will time and distance tear them apart?

Dorothy Rice Bennett grew up in the Midwest. She began filling spiral notebooks when she was 10 years old with fanciful stories that she shared with her classmates in school. Her story heroines were women of action--they flew Navy jets, they competed in hydroplane boat races, drove in auto races, and they raced horses as jockeys. In short, Dorothy was way ahead of her time, but little could she dream as a child that women would someday do those very things. As an adult, Dorothy still loved writing, but her busy life in both the mental health field and in journalism commanded her time and energy. Yet writing was never forgotten, and eventually she pushed other tasks aside and began to put words on paper. NORTH COAST is her first published novel, and she's already at work on the next one. The characters of NORTH COAST were inspired by her own relationship with a woman several years her senior in age--a relationship that put her at peace with her own sexuality and set her finally on a path to personal fulfillment. Her second novel, GIRLS ON THE RUN is now available in quality paperback. She is currently at work on her third novel, which has the working title of THE ARTEMIS ADVENTURE.

I love this. You're following the lives of Brit and Ginger after the five ladies leave the big house owned by Ange in Sequim bay. You also find out what happened to everyone else, during the year.

You become invested in their lives. Dorothy weaves a great story line, to the point you want to know more at the end of the book. I hope there's a sequel.
