Snow Tip Falls #3

Best Friend Trouble

Rate this book
‘He slipped his hand between my legs. I froze. I was pulsing. What would happen if he touched it?’

Imagine if you asked your straight best friend to pretend to be your fiancé and one night while sharing a bed, his naked body reacted to your touch.
______

LOU
I know it shouldn’t matter what people say about me. But when my parents told me that I would never find love because I liked guys, I was willing to do anything to prove them wrong.

So, when the most romantic guy ever asked me to marry him, I had to show him to them immediately. Was I moving too fast? Because as soon as I scored him an invitation to one of our obnoxious family get-togethers, he called things off.

Now, I need a fiancé to replace the one I thought I had or my parents will think they were right about me all along.

TITUS
I can’t tell you why Lou has dated so many guys, but watching him do it has torn me up inside. Now he needs someone to pretend to be his fiancé for a weekend. I’m his best friend. Of course I’m gonna do it.

Will it be weird pretending to be engaged to the man whose naked body makes me want to break headboards? Yeah, especially since he doesn’t even know I like guys. But while I’m getting his parents to like me, maybe I’ll tell him how I feel.

That would have been the perfect plan if Lou’s rich, hot, openly gay quarterback ex didn’t suddenly show up wanting to win him back.

Every day not telling him rips my heart out. But even if I could confess my feelings to Lou, would it be enough to make him choose me over the perfect guy?

My aching heart hopes so. I don’t have a lot of time to find out.

Same as the first two really...

...nice little read but similar to the first two and the end peeved me cos it left with a link to a bonus ending surrounding Titus funding his father or something... It's not in the book but you have to click a link to read it. Not cool. It should just continue in the next book.

Lou has dated lots of people but never gone on more than one date really with anyone. Titus has been Lou’s best friend and since everyone thinks he’s straight, Lou has never bothered to think of him any other way. Lou has gone on two dates with Seymour and one day he meets his parents for lunch and Seymour does this big proposal.
His parents never actually look at sey so they don’t even know who he is. Then Lou’s parents drop a bomb on him that his grandmother died. Lou is devastated. Titus sees the proposal. He was headed to lunch to tell Lou he actually loves him.
A week or so later Lou has to go to his parents house to hear the reading of his grandmothers will. He knows he’s inheriting everything because she told him. He brings Titus as his fake fiancée because his parents are expecting a plus one. But they’re actually horrible people who immediately hate Titus. The guys have a nice couple days together and do all the things with each other. Then the will is read and Lou got nothing. Sey shows up and Lou’s parents freak out. But they like sey so Lou tells Titus to leave.
Later, Lou decides he loves Titus and can’t be with sey. So he goes to break up but sey drops this bomb that he also comes from old money and he will ruin Titus’s life if Lou doesn’t marry him. So Lou stops speaking to Titus.
Eventually Titus is like shit is fucked so he goes to Lou’s parents house and tells Lou he needs to knock off his shit and not marry that guy. So Lou tells him about the threats. That’s when they realize grandmas death seems sus. Grandma liked to leave clues in her books so after a couple days of searching, they find a clue in a childhood favorite book and grandma tells them she buried something. They go find it and it’s a video of her saying Lou gets the whole inheritance. They do some good sleuthing and find out grandma had been dead for weeks before lous parents called anyone and while she was already dead they forged a new will. Lou drops these bombs at his wedding. Seymour gets mad but then Lou has all these other people at the wedding to put Seymour in his place and Lou ends up with Titus like he should.
Lou also had set up a booth at a fair to get some dna tests and turns out he found two of Titus’s long lost brothers - cali, Titus’s roommate and this other dude that Titus started a business with. They all have the same deadbeat dad apparently.

Within the first 30 pages, you get a surprise engagement, a sudden death, and a secret brother reveal. I thought that was great, I was so excited; I love some ridiculousness in my books. But, sadly, by the end it wasn't fun silly, it was just absurd like: "this is the worst possible way to do this! why would you- just go to the lawyer! what are you doing? you achieved nothing this solution isn't a solution you're just saying that it is. what do you mean he's got to catch up on weeks of missed classes?! if I missed that much there'd be no way to catch up. why didn't he just go to class? there was no reason to leaveee!" ugh. I was so done with this.

And Louis, babes, I get that you had a horrible childhood but that's no excuse to be this toxic, you treated Titus horribly.

Loved it

My favourite book so far from the series. Love Lou's cheeky cute attitude and Titus is lovely. A sexy and adorable romance with some mystery and fun.

I love Titus and Lou together. The plot was very interesting and chaotic but it was really good and unexpected. Very good book and great and involving the past characters. The ending was really good!

Alex McAnders has created a wonderful community of characters that makes the eventual connection of relationships forged by circumstances and stories that are believable as being lived. To have unknown connections as brothers, parents, and a crime committed against an infant drives some of the storytelling of this great series with a wonderful connection to what must be a fantastic locale.

However, my lower rating for this in the third book of the series is the unbelievable angst between our two eventual partners. The story itself is fascinating and compelling, the execution of unbelievable disconnect for the characters is not. What major college football coach would not reach out to a key player who makes a record number of sacks and then disappears for weeks during the season?

And for the revelation of the conspiracy was reminiscent of a Columbo TV show, each of the points neatly revealed in a show of characters who stood to give testimony.

Lastly, a bit of angst for the reader. I was perplexed when reading that the percentage of book read was so low.

I'll read more of Alex McAnders because of the great stories. I will not read the Mafia episode due to personal triggers.

And on the negative side, the frequent in text reminder of the AI conversation you can have with the characters about their intimacy and other matters was a distraction that was first welcomed and then hated when the frequency came during important scenes.

Another negative is the page count. The Book is listed at 344 pages, but only 338 of it is this story. As in the other books, our author gives away the first chapter of so of the next book to keep us reading. But there's more than one in this end, and as I was reading, the percentage and time left 10+ hours, only minimally moved down. I've not seen an author pack in so much more with other books teased here. I absolutely panicked when I would watch the small percentage points change as reading this. In fact, it's only 32% of the entire book.

I wish the mechanism of Kindle would allow the "story" part of books to be what is counted, and the digital bloat not to be a part of that calculation.

I have liked these books, and the work of Alex McAnders, but this one was heartwarming for the eventuality of the two main characters, but absolutely disliked for the mechanisms and page count issues.

I will say that McAnders does a really good job at writing absolutely horrible people. The bad guys are always very clear cut and easy to hate.

However, I don’t think he does a very good job with his leading characters. The motivations and responses aren’t quite right. For example, in this book Lou is remarkably weak and selfish, considering he doesn’t want to be anything like his horrible family. And after what he does to Titus, Titus simply forgives him. There’s very little anger or fighting, they just spend some time apart, and then Titus forgives everything. No 20 something college boy is going to act like that.

And then, miraculously, everything gets all wrapped up in the last two pages of the book and they live happily ever. Seymour is way too evil and calculating to ever let that stand.… In fact, Seymour is downright insane.

don’t read from this “author” it’s all just choppy plagiarism

Don’t get me wrong, I love fast past books. But this was too rushed and kinda confusing. The. At 33% it just ends after drop a big bomb.

Curious I started reading it. It’s sounds very familiar like I have read it before. All the was down to one of the MCs girlfriends suggesting a threesome with her friend and a surprise for him. Which the MC shuts down. I just can’t put my finger on the name of the book. It’s driving g me crazy trying to think of the book.

But seeing as “Blackwidows kiss” is a knock off plagiarized version of “Say I do” the third book from the Vitale brother. I would be surprised if all books from this “author” are plagiarized version of others book.

Will not read any other books under this person

Heavy Plot themes

This book’s plot took on some heavy themes. Unlike the mental health themes of book 2, we tackle (pun intended) old money politics and standards, good ol’ boys club politics, blackmail and another long lost brother scenario.

I enjoy that this books has spicy but compared to other MM romances it’s on the tamer side. These story are getting heavy, dark and increasingly more intriguing. Although I was there were a smaller cast of MC’s and we got more story about previous book MC’s I am definitely in for the long haul and will read through the series.

A Great Story

This was a great story. I loved the plot. The main MCs have a wonderful friendship. It makes me feel like they have been in love with each other from the start. We still have some drama of course but I loved the revenge. Titus and Lou are just perfect for each other. Even though this book is not long it does get the story out. Can more be added? Of course it can, just like must short stories. But I believe it gave enough that it didn’t leave you feeling like a lot of things were missing. I give it a 5 star ⭐️ review. 💜

don’t even bother

this was honestly the worst book i have ever read, nothing made sense and there was so much going on everything just seemed forced. There was so much cheating going on and back and forth it was so annoying, the author couldn’t just pick one plot and stick to it, and when introducing new conflicts, he didn’t even truly follow through with any of them. I wouldn’t waste your time with this book. Needs heavy editing and proofreading.

Great read.

I do love a best friends to lovers romance so this was perfect. Poor Lou was so desperate to be loved that he fell for the first guy to shower him with affection! There were a few plot twists along the way, which I loved, and I have to say that his family were horrible.

Good book

It was a good book with a lot of angst. The storyline was interesting and characters were believable but it just didn't tug my heart like I thought it would. There were also plots that were never fleshed out that bothered me. Still a good book though.

These Snow Tip Falls books are not good. All sorts of stupid storylines and everyone is gay and everyone is a long lost brother and people just stay apart or assume when there’s the slightest hiccup in a relationship.

And yet somehow I keep getting drawn into reading them! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Ugh... I pushed thru bc I'm not a quitter but omg this series is bad. If I hadn't already bought all the books, I would just stop.

The best thing about this one was Lou creating distractions and hissy fits.
