A southern girl brings a Manhattan billionaire to his knees in this delightful tale by Liv Morris. I devoured this book! 5 Steel Magnolia Stars for Daddy Issues.
Daddy Issue by Liv Morris is the story of Lucas and Maggie. Maggie is looking for a job but has been helping to babysit while trying to find her dream job. Lucas doesn't do emotions especially toward women and prefers to have a business arrangement when he does need to have a women around. There was a accident when he was younger that changed his mother along with another women he thought he loved but she wasn't there for that. So when he happens to meet the Maggie who is a southern girl with her heart on her sleeve he knows he needs to walk away from her. Maggie tells him if they happen to meet again than it is Serendipity. A few weeks later Lucas ends up having something to change his life that he ends up needing someones help. Lucas's friend calls on Maggie to help him which leads to them meeting again. Enjoyed their story and kept reading until the end of it in one sitting.
This was so so good we have a broken billionaire that has demons and a girl who is a breath of fresh air and the biggest heart with a great sense of humor and I loved Maggie her and Lucas could not be any different even though warned to stay away their connection is off the charts hot and she's were she wants to be. I loved the dialogue it keeps you on your toes so well written with humor, intensity we get it all in this one and I couldn't put it down.
Daddy Issues is a stand-alone single dad romance by Liv Morris. This review will be called Sofia's issues and it's a part of a series called "Once again my pet peeve ruined the day (and the book)."
As some people know, my second most hated thing in a book is reading about other women/men. Well, the book began with Lucas seeing the sins of last night still sleeping in his bed. Was that necessary? Or to know that he had a bought and paid relationship with her? As if that wasn't enough at some point we get to read a brief summary of how the baby was made and it was another strike for me. The baby itself took come time to come into the picture and no, I am not talking about the 9 months it needed to be born. I was not a fan of the story and it might be because I was expecting something different from the book. It's my fault, but doesn't almost every reader do that?
The book was not my cup of tea and I would not recommend it.
What's that they say about opposites attract? That's exactly what happens when a cold, controlled (on the outside) billionaire meets a cheerful, attention wandering sweetheart of a young woman. There's an instant attraction on both their parts, and Maggie's (Magnolia) all for pursuing it, but she walks away instead. But then circumstances force her back into his life and they go from there.
Where do they go? Well, more of the same. Lucas trying to restrain himself from falling for the free spirited Maggie, and failing miserably. And Maggie reveling in her new relationship even as she tries her best to help Lucas heal from the singular incident in his past that has frozen his emotional maturity and his heart in a case of ice.
I mostly really enjoyed Daddy Issues. Maggie in particular, is a joy to read, with her big heart and cheerful, compassionate nature. Lucas is a bit too surly for my tastes, but considering his past, he has every right to be stunted emotionally. The opposites attract theme certainly worked well here.
Liv Morris has a way of taking tried and true tropes and spinning them into something so delightful, fresh and infectious I'm always looking forward to her next release. Daddy Issues delivers on all counts. Lucas and Maggie are so much more that a single dad - nanny fling. Maggie is an impetuous small town girl chasing her dreams in Manhattan when she crosses paths with a hot, suited mystery man in a coffee shop. The dream chasing isn't panning out, so Maggie has fallen back on her skills as a toddler whisperer. The next thing you know she's enlisted to save the day when her roomie asks her to help when a baby lands in the lap of a bad boy bachelor, and you guessed it. Lucas is her mystery man from the coffee shop. Sparks fly and Ms. Morris builds up this delicious tension between them. The kind of sweet, angsty tension that makes this book so hard to put down. It's a must read if you love grumpy, brittle billionaires turned into marshmallows by the love of a good woman as they discover the real meaning of fatherhood.
Hey Maggie! I remember you, Magnolia best friend of Tessa. I loved her and her pinkness.
Maggie, she’s quirky, she’s funny, she’s gorgeous, she just needs a job. What better way to get over a crappy job interview than spend a few pounds on a mochachocalatte with whipped cream, marshmallows and a dusting of cinnamon on top? And if you happen to meet a hunk of a man in the coffee queue - you are winning at life.
I adored the early interactions of Lucas and Maggie aka Peaches and Herb. I could sense the possibility. It simmered. It smouldered. I could tell there was some fire to come.
There’s sub plots of mummy/daddy issues and the surprise baby (not a spoiler, it’s in the blurb).
I would have really liked more daddy baby bonding. If the book theme is a single dad, I want single dad who is smitten. Give me more baby daddy stuff that I can ooooohhhhh and aaaahhhh to. I love babies. And daddies.
My first read by this author and it was very sweet. Poor Lucas is just a broke down mess! He happens to catch our sweet heroine Maggie in a coffee shop one morning. It was serendipity 😍
This was just a sweet not sexy low angst read. There were problems but nothing major. You have the single dad and the nanny and it was love at first sight. Not a whole lot is steamy scenes but the plot drove this book not the sex.
Angst⭐️ Cheating None Sexy Time ⭐️⭐️ Epilogue ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Plot⭐️⭐️⭐️
I liked thar Maggie knew how to crack the whip with Lucas, “um, no.” Maggie’s green eyes blazed, making me stand taller. “Your first lesson is in bottle feeding, not downing a bottle. There’s your baby doll. Use it.” I liked this book, I liked Lucas.
I didn’t quite feel the connection I was hoping to with this book. It was instalovey and way to sugar sweet for me. I didn’t feel the sexual tension I would expect with a nanny romance. This one just didn’t work for me all that much.
This was a great twist on the single dad romance. There’s plenty of layers to the story of why Lucas is such a closed off guy and the ending was adorable. I have to say Lucas and Maggie’s “meet cute” was so fantastic! Had me smiling & swooning away. Loved catching up with Jess and Barclay too.
“She was a delectable temptation wrapped up in a beautiful young package, and I needed to get the hell away from her.”
The first time Lucas and Maggie meet, it can be said that fate was on a moody day. With a scene that looks like a slapstick movie, Lucas watches a beautiful woman in line to buy a coffee, but the attraction soon disappears when she photographs him. And everything gets worse when she trips, almost falls, he supports her and a shoe goes flying to a hitherto unknown whereabouts. Lucas just wanted to buy a coffee, a single task of his own, on his first day off. But this different, bold, and clearly outsider woman managed to lock him into a conversation. Obviously under false names. And so, Peaches meets Herb. A different afternoon, but one that will leave its mark on both. Lucas is in fact a billionaire businessman, a bachelor whose affairs are scheduled and paid for, who protects his privacy at all costs, has no good relationship with his father, and is plagued by personal demons. Maggie is in the big city looking for a job. But her loving, laid-back, sincere nature contrasts with the cold, barren metropolis. The stranger she met in the cafeteria catches her attention, after all she can see behind the mask he shows the world. But she will never see him again, or so she thought. In answering a phone call and agreeing to a date, Lucas had no idea of the change that would happen in his life. The balance of the night? A note, a baby and a lot of confusion. And with a child in his arms and no idea how to take care of her, a nanny is needed. But when he opens the door, he comes across the cafeteria girl, none other than the best friend of his friend's girlfriend. While trying to unravel the mystery surrounding the baby while dealing with personal and professional problems, resisting the temptation Maggie arouses will be harder than he imagined. With a good guy full of conflict, fighting guilt over a past mistake, at times he is arrogant and cold, but as the reading develops the reader can see that everything is a facade and self-imposed penance. A well written and developed character. Maggie is irreverent, unfiltered, fearless, strong, the perfect contrast to Lucas's gray world. Baby Esmé is cute and a great addition to the narrative. The plot presents a bit of drama and tension, but nothing that weighs the narrative. Personal conflicts are part of the narrative, present in Lucas's actions and attitudes throughout his life. A good read, with an interesting story, a perfect couple for each other, and attention-grabbing secondary characters.
Daddy Issue by Liv Morris is the story of Lucas and Maggie. Lucas is this rich, sexy yet closed off billionaire. Maggie is a sweet, beautiful young woman who is trying to make it big in NYC. Lucas is a broken soul and how he goes about getting his temporary piece isn't my cup of tea. His life gets turned upside down when he finds out that he is a father. The baby mama left the baby literally behind...that's when Maggie and Lucas are brought together (again). She's a nanny while trying to get her foot in the door in the actual job she wants. So her friends recommend her as a nanny and this story comes brilliantly together. Love the message..the chemistry between Lucas and Maggie... the plot is great and the story is sweet and funny. Enjoyed the cast of secondary characters plus the heat generated by Maggie & Lucas, makes for a fantastic read!! Great Ending!
This was another pleasant surprise for me. I had heard about this book on Instagram and thought “why not?” I kind of went in expecting one thing but got another thing instead. I absolutely loved the dynamic of Maggie and Lucas and Maggie as a character was so loveable and fun, she just had this great energy that really popped off the page. The whole storyline involving Lucas becoming a father was interesting to read since I haven’t really read a lot of books focused on single parents but this was a lovely story to start out with. I do feel like the last bit of the book was rushed and I really wish there could have been a wedding for Maggie and Lucas(potentially with more little ones) but overall this was a really nice read and so heartwarming and funny to read

Daddy Issues by Liv Morris was fantastic. Lucas is a total womanizer, but it’s his defense mechanism. He doesn’t feel he deserves to be happy, and it’s his way to punish himself. For 20 years this is what he’s done, until a chance meeting at a coffee shop was just the beginning. His life takes a bigger turn when his past comes back with more than he bargained for. I don’t want to say much more except this book will keep you glued to the pages. Lucas is a maddeningly hot jerk that you’ll fall in love with.
This is a Fantastic read by Liv Morris, A single Dad romance that read like a fairytale, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I Loved the chemistry between Moody, broody Lucas and the delightful sweet Maggie,it was hot steamy and romantic...Esssentially these two have not very much in common but come together to take care of a surprise bundle that lands in Lucas's life.I was completely entertained by their journey and it was a pleasure to read this book. I highly recommend it.
QueenZany 4.5 Star Review Daddy Issue by Liv Morris
Daddy Issue is a fun, heavenly sweet love story! One, where you want to believe in fate and the crazy instances that bring you to where you need to be in life. Which Liv executed brilliantly with a sense of humor and wit.
I was super happy when I found out this book would feature Tessa's friend Maggie - and she did not disappoint - fun and sassy and certainly not a pushover - a girl after my own heart.... Lucas is an absolute ass-- one of those guys you just can't wait to see cut down to size! Add in the most adorable baby and you can't put this book down!!
