Falling for the Enemy #1

Stolen by Monsters

Rate this book
A fearless assassin, three of her enemies, and a truth she isn’t ready to accept.

Monsters.

I’ve routinely hunted them my entire life, wanting to wipe their kind from this realm.

My deadly accurate aim has kept me alive this long.

Until now.

I miss a shot for the first time and come face to face with my targets.

I should have died.

Instead, these creatures drag me back to their land and hold me captive.

Wes—the commanding demon in charge.
Bo—the sadistic alpha.
Dash—I don’t know what he is, but he’s too cheery for this realm.

After being marked by the alpha and with his venom coursing through my veins—I become a beacon that draws death closer to my doorstep every day.

The only way to survive is to stay close to these monsters.

I told myself I’d go along with their plan only because I had to. But then I realize my hatred has been replaced with…desire and intrigue.

This was never supposed to happen.

Amazing world building in this as it’s book 1. Character description was very thorough. The story itself felt like I was there.

Wren is such a great FMC and I have to say that Dash stole my heart. Though there was a soft spot for Wes and who doesn’t love a sadistic alpha?!

I don’t want to ruin anything in this book. If you’re looking for a badass hunter FMC, alpha holes, swoony guys that will make you laugh out loud then please read this book! Packed with action, suspense, mystery, drama, romance and a knocked it out of the park world.

This book does leave on a cliffhanger that I wasn’t expecting as well as the twists and turns throughout the rbook. A true page turner. Can’t wait for the next book!!!

What can I say… except this book left me wanting to read more! The book, for me, started off a little bit slow, so it did take me a few chapters for the book to grow on me. But once I was, I did not want to stop reading this book. I absolutely grew to love this story. There were a couple of characters that had to grow on me. The characters were well developed, and I loved the storyline.

At first, when I started reading about Wren, I wasn’t sure how I felt about her; however, as the story went on and she started to form connections with the other characters, I couldn’t help but really start to like her. I have to say I really liked Dash and Wes. Even though there were a couple of times I was annoyed with Wes, I still couldn’t help but really like him. Bo eventually started to grow on me, but it did take me a little longer.

I really enjoyed reading this book and thought that it was a good read. It was a little bit slow for me in the beginning, but by the end of the book, I wanted to keep reading more. The cliffhanger in the book made me annoyed, but a good annoyed, because it made me want to continue reading more. I can’t wait to see what the author has to write about in the next book! I look forward to Wren and her connections growing more.

One little moment can change the course of someone's life... A single distraction leads to Wren being overwhelmed by demons. Nearly dead she is certain the three who come for her are there to finish her off, but instead they pick her up and nurse her back to health. One question keeps on popping up: Why? Every passing moment in the presence of Wes, Bo and Dash makes Wren question them, herself and ultimately everything she thought she knew...

This is one of those books that needed a little time to grow on me, but once I was almost halfway through I had a very hard time putting it down again (why clean, right?). I felt an instant connection to Dash, but Wren, Wes and Bo had to grow on me a little longer. I can't pinpoint the moment I started to get invested in them as well, but it feels like my interest grew alongside with their own connections. While some might say the enemies grow into lovers quite fast, I actually liked the way Wren let go of prejudices and decided to follow her own gut.

The best parts of this book were by far the action scenes for me; I felt like a part of their crew, fighting and winning alongside them. I really enjoyed this book, and that cliffhanger makes me extremely excited to find out what will happen next!

I absolutely loved this story! 😍 This story was filled with action and a baddass FMC. Wren is a badass hunter who doesn't take crap from anybody. 👏 It was awesome to see such a strong willed, and powerful FMC. In a moment of weakness, Wren gets distracted and wounded. She ends up nearly dead and her enemies take her in and nurse her back to health.

This book is filled with action, twists, mystery, enemies to lovers. This combination is *chefs kiss*, my favorite. 😍 I loved seeing the bond between Wren, Bo, Wes, and Dash blossom. Started out with hate and then they grew into something more. ❤️ I'm so excited to see where this story ends up. Can't wait to see what Luna brings in the next book. 👀

Warrior Captive is an amazing start to this new series.
Wren is a strong, fierce hunter that is captured by the demon she was sent to kill and taken back to his home which he shares with 2 others.
I really enjoyed this book. It was fast paced and action packed with a few twists. I loved the characters and the storyline. This was a great first book in this enemies to lovers series and can’t wait to see what happens next!

This book had my interest from the first few lines. Why would someone as well trained as Wren let a look at a demon throw her focus off. Not to mention the whole Buffy bad@$$ hunter vibe really intrigued me. Throw in the sweet Dash and alphahole Bo and it’s a party. Then there’s Wes, he’s a mystery through the whole book. The whole time I kept having more questions. And to me a book that leaves me wanting and questioning more is a good book.

Wow, just wow! Luna Pierce has created a fantastic story! Giving me some of my favorite enemies-to-lovers with action, mystery, a kick-butt FMC, and sexy, intriguing male leads. It was so cool to see such a strong, powerful, revered FMC but knowing that even she is not indestructible and having her enemies come to her rescue and bring her back to health despite everything she has ever been told about demons.

I love seeing the bonds between Wren, Wes, Dash and Bo grow. Starting with simmering hate and growing to something more. That against all odds, they have come to mean more even if they may or may not be willing to admit it. I’m so excited to see where this story goes in the next installment. I just know Luna has something extra special up her sleeve.

We are met with Wren Oliver. The Furla Ain of her time. The one who “rose through the ranks swiftly, becoming the acclaimed Furla Ain only two years into her post. Most feared assassin.” And she was captured by the one thing she was sent to destroy. Something that should have never happened.

Wes, Bo, & Dash have her captive. For their own reasons. A scary trio on their own. This story is filled with adventure and chaos. Also a great deal of tension. Especially since Wren is “a strong but damaged, delicate flower"

I can not wait to pick up the next in this series. Absolutely attention-grabbing and I finished this in one night!!!

Book 1 in a series of 3 books about Wren, our FMC and kick butt hunter. This book was really good. We have all kinds of evil demon creatures (some you've heard of and some you never thought could be considered 'demon'). We have a definite Enemies to Lovers vibe going on here and I am hoping we get some true RH in the upcoming books. #whychoose.

I think if you enjoy a good paranormal book, you'll like this one. You have action, you have monsters, you have potential for HEA eventually.... or not.... Guess we will see.

I received an advance review copy of this book, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I thought it was a little slow going at the beginning. There is a lot of information thrown in the beginning from Wrens POV between that and the situation she’s in with Dash, Wes, and Bo it was a lot at first.

Now this is an enemies to lovers. Monster hunter goes on a mission. Mission goes awry. Monster that she was sent to kill saves her. He heals her and wants to make a deal with her. Can she set aside her perception of monsters and take this deal? Will this monster and his friends kill her? Fulfill their deal? And why did he save her?

Favorite quotes/scenes:

-"There's this visceral desire to know her, to enter her mind and discover every inch of her soul that she has never shared with another." (Wes)

-"From that very first moment, I was drawn to her. Something about how in this dark and gloomy existence, there was this brightness she exuded, regardless of her title." (Dash)

So i really enjoyed it.
The ending was a cliffhanger which was fucking annoying hence why i usually wait for series to be complete before reading them but alas here we are.
It was also rather abrupt/unsatisfying in the way it cane about in a how does that make sense sorta silly way but maybe the next book with more info itll make sense idk.
The world building isnt heinous but it certainly needs more work there are times it seems like a medieval fantasy world and times when shes using a fridge and im wondering wtf this world is like.
So thats a major thing that pisses me off like im all for mystery and showing not telling but like give me some fucking foundation to stand on so im not getting mind fucked while reading.
Hope the next book is out super soon cause if it isnt ill probs just leave this series for dead given the ending and also lack of epilogue. I mean you can leave mystery and eagerness for whats next without pulling that type of ending. Ugh.
But yeah all the main characters i like.
There were times when the chick acted really dumb and i was kinda surprised by her whole moodswings or abrupt changes in i will slit your throat and then like the next chapter fucks some dude while still thinking of how to kill her way out like idk it doesnt really have an enemies to lovers vibe. I mean one dude is a roid arsehole for like a chapter and then suddenly hes like bffs with her so idk i wouldnt call it enemies to lovers its just a bit of an understandbly rocky start on both sides... so yeah theres no real personal history making them enemies i mean itd be like calling romeo and juliet enemies. Theyre not and never have been their associates might be in general but like otherwise theres no enemy vibe no sexual tension no banter no begruding respect or comradeship like they dont even classifh as like childhood nemesis categroy which is like baby enemies to lovers like the rom coms its a boy girl thing or drive me crazy etc even wtf is the title of the movie walk to remember? Idk the one with mandy moore and the highschool bullies and whatnot like even that was more enemies to lovers than this was and frankly i wouldnt call that enemies since she was never like aggressive or anything like she didnt have enemies. Even when they were dicks to her. But this is like... just dumb stubborn guys... so yeah.
Eh i liked it anyway but not for whay it was advertised as and not for the semi shitty ending.

2.5⭐️ 1🌶 CF-friendly
There were weird word uses and phrases that seemed off. It was almost improper English at times, and gave the feeling that it wasn't proof-read or edited by a professional. I also found it got a bit repetitive. The characters are all over-powered, which I find annoying because then there is no real challenge or threat. The pace was weird and I was expecting more spice, it was rather bland that way. Dash was the only character I liked and carried the book. I doubt I'll continue the series.
CF-friendly at least.

Luna has a natural talent when it comes to world building in such a way it naturally absorbes you into this new reality. You live side by side wither her characters and their feelings and emotions become entwined with yours.

Wren is the fiercest warrior who slays demons like no other and is revered by her fellow warriors. She is ingenious, full of fire and doesn't need anyone. Until her world get flipped and her only way to survive is to work with and help her mortal enemies.

Bo, Dash and Wes share a bond and they're a tight nit group but one person has the potential to shatter that bond, Wren. The journey these 3 go on with Wren and the way their relationships with her develop all at different rates makes them so relatable.
Bo is a true alpha a hole who will drive you mad buy also make you fall in love with him.
Wes is battling his other half and his soul, his interactions with Wren are stilted anfld uncomfortable.
Dash is the glue of the group he is sweet, honest and caring. He sees Wren before anyone else does and builds on their connection.

This book culminates in a shocking cliff hanger that you didn't want to see coming but in some part of your mind there's a little voice going you knew this was coming. So be prepared!

I throughly enjoyed this story. It was packed full of drama and action with a bit of mystery and suspense. I loved Bo and his antics. He had me laughing out loud at times. Wren was a strong and feisty one that you truly do love. Wes was one that at times has you shaking your head at. Then there is Dash who is all around a sweet and caring with a protective side. The story really picks up in the second half of the book and I throughly enjoyed the fighting scenes. The descriptions are vivid and during the fighting scenes that just added to the story so I can easily picture what is occurring. The story is extremely well written and developed. It is unique in its storyline. This is definitely a must read and let me say that ending was a doozy of a cliffhanger. I seriously can’t wait to see what happens next.

I was absolutely not expecting this book to be such a quick read. I got sucked right in however and am definitely jumping into book two right after this review. Heroine Wren is a demon Hunter, one of the best and most feared. After witnessing her mothers murder as a child and barely escaping with her own life, Wren has made it her life’s mission to rid the world of these hellish beings. She’s never met any demon who didn’t deserve to die…. So of course she’s completely thrown for a loop when she’s in the middle of a battle half dead and yet rescued by the enemy and even brought back to good health. As their kind of/almost relationship grows everyone has to face the horrors from their past if they ever plan to have a future together. Then again no one has really contemplated that far but slowly but surely she bonds with her three men giving us the opportunity to know them as well. The book is mostly good from Wren’s POV but there are a few sporadic shifts into the guys POV as well. The book ends on a cliffhanger but I’m ready to devour this trilogy now!

Why??? I really need to stop reading TikTok books. This is the worst case of insta-lust I’ve read. She knows nothing about these guys, even says that she doesn’t know anything about them. Yet she sleeps with one of them immediately despite them holding her captive. And the characters themselves are so lifeless that it makes it even worse. There’s no good reason for our FMC to sleep with this guy. He’s literally nothing, barely words on a page.

The plot is boring. The inner dialogue is too verbose and repetitive. It’s all tell not show. It’s like all the things that a good editor would point out immediately as bad in 1 book.

Holds potential

Better world building would be great, we really don't know much about anything. It's the first in the series,.. yes, however we should at least have a better clue. How is it the supplies they acquire are always bread and cheese? Whose making them and why is it in the random safe house's the food is always okay to eat....? This pans out to be more of an Insta love book, it went from 0 to 100.

3 stars because the premise seems intriguing but there is a lot of internal rambling that brings nothing to the story.

Not much plot, really really fast paced, barely enemies to lovers, confusing to understands since the reader’s don’t get much information and honestly….. it’s a bit boring. The world building wasn’t done well and the main characters have little to no personality.

I will not be continuing this series.

Audio Review:

This book was a shorter than I was anticipating so it felt a little rushed, especially with how quickly Wren's feelings changed for Bo and Wes. I really would have liked for the characters to have more time getting to know each other and to actually have their relationship build.

All of that aside, I did enjoy the book, and I would like to read more so that I can find out what happens next. I will also say that a large part of why enjoyed the book as much as I did is because of the narration.

I've listened to quite a few books that Maryne Young has narrated and I've always enjoyed her work. This book is no exception. She did a phenomenal job in bringing Wren to life and showing her emotions and frustrations with her circumstances and with the guys.

This is first book that I've listened to where Tor Thom has narrated, and I have to say he has a new fan! He did such an amazing job bringing Wes, Bo, and Dash to life while also giving them unique voices. I loved that I was able to tell which character he voicing at any given time. I will definitely be looking into more books that he has narrated.

Add in the fact that this is a duet narration and I'm going to tell you that the audiobook is, hands down, the way to consume this book. I really felt like when I had just begun listening to this and then I was already coming to the end of the book.
