I have read a lot of Daily Grace Co. devotionals. You can browse my reviews HERE. I have the four volume series titled The Story of Redemption which is an entire Bible reading plan from Genesis to Revelation and seeks to show how the whole Bible is the story of God redeeming a sinful people to himself for his glory.

I read most of volume 1 (until I accidentally left it at an Airbnb) and then I skipped ahead to volume 4 because I wanted to read the New Testament.

I think Daily Grace Co. devotionals have their place and I’ve really enjoyed a few of them that I’ve done, but this one fell short for me. Perhaps if you really only have time for something short and surface-y this one makes sense.

But there is just so much in the New Testament books that to take 3-4 chapters at a time and only have a short commentary, you miss so much. I mean they have a two volume set just on the book of Romans.

I think the three chapters format works well for Old Testament books that are more narrative, but it just doesn’t feel helpful for the New Testament books. I think I would have rather just read an individual book on each of the books so I felt like I was actually grasping the content.

I suppose the intention of the study was just to point to the redemption story and not get into all the little details and maybe that’s not necessarily all that I was hoping for in this study.

I would say overall there’s not usually a lot of depth to The Daily Grace Co. devotionals. They are certainly pretty and offer a short time-efficient option for reading your Bible (and sometimes that’s what we need), but I wouldn’t make these devotionals my go-to time after time. I would recommend getting something more in-depth here and there to supplement.

The Good Book Company and Lifeway are both websites I would recommend checking out for other devotional options.

Wow. I am amazed at how His Word hasn't changed, but it is constantly changing me. I am redeemed and restored. These volumes have taken me through His story and reminded me again of the amazing God I get to serve. Worth the investment.

This was a wonderful conclusion to The Story of Redemption study I did along with my Bible reading plan this year. I have such a new and better appreciation for God's Word!
