This Christmas

A Enemy to Lovers Holiday Novella

I started disliking him in first grade when he threw a frog at me and called my pigtails stupid.

When we were in middle school, he called me four-eyes and made fun of my freckles.

Then in high school, he did something so bad, I swore I’d never say his name again, look at his annoyingly handsome face, or even waste a single thought on him.And that worked out fine… mostly.

Well, it did work out until he showed up at my family’s cabin for the holidays. Turns out, his brother started dating my sister. Please, someone, kill me now.To make matters worse, I’m stuck with him in one room, sleeping in a bunk bed… yeah, a freaking bunk bed.I haven’t made a wish list since I was six, but I’m desperate, so I’m trying everything.

Dear Santa,
This Christmas, I only have one wish. Please, make Jonas Wilder go away.

Love, Hannah

Quick enemies to lovers/second chance romance that will leave you happy when you are finished. Jonas and Hannah have been enemies since they were children. It hasn’t changed as they got older but now they have to share a bedroom with bunkbeds. Jonas and Hannah were so cute. Loved the attraction and chemistry between them. Cute story. I can’t wait to read more from this author.

Short story with a quick HEA. Enemies since elementary school, these two find themselves stuck together for the holidays Jonas did what most boys who don’t understand their feelings do; he teased and picked on Hannah all through school. One of his pranks got out of hand and there was no turning back. When they meet again Hannah is still not over it. She thinks he still the same jerk from school. Jonas has to convince Hannah that he has changed.

Hannah & Jonas

POV: Dual

Hannah and Jonas didn't have the best of friendship growing up. Jonas was/is Hannah's childhood bully and archenemy.
Until she goes to her parents cabin for Christmas, and comes face to face with him.
She had hoped that they would never see each other again. Despite him being gorgeous ect. She can't forgive him for he put her through. And there's no way in hell that she's sharing a room with him for the holidays.

Jonas has always had feelings for Hannah. He just wanted to get her attention when they were younger, but instead he went too far and pushed het away to the verge of her hating him. He knows that he was a jerk to her. And he wants her to know this.

Can they cope being in the cabin for a week?

Hannah's Grandma is hilarious.

A lovely, quick, holiday read.

Spending Christmas with her family at their cabin in the woods doesnt go to plan for Hannah (FMC) because it brings her face to face with her school bully Jonas. Bad enough she has to spend Christmas with him but she also has to share a bedroom with him too. Fun and games ensue which leads to spark flying. Its a short but its a good read & Hannah's grandmother is riot (had me cracking up) lol. Just great

"I can’t believe I thought this year was going to be a crappy one, turns out, Santa might just be real. He did end up giving me the best gift of all..."

3.5 Short & Sweet Stars.

I'm not a big fan of "safe" or "sweet" and I didn't know who Jenna Reed was (well, until I realized the two that were writing under this name). Nevertheless, I gave in and added this little Christmas gem to my list. It was short, sweet, & safe. It didn't make me want to add it to any of my favs list & it surely made me want to dive into the darkest bully romance I could find afterwards, but it did pull off its purpose I guess......it made me smile and even got a few awes out of me, but the most surprising element? It made me geniunely laugh, quite loudly at times thanks to Nana. Don't let the rating fool you, I just couldn't bring myself to give this story the same rating I would a book that pulled "more" from me.

"Santa, please, help me. Orange isn’t a good color for me, and murder is looking better and better with each second."

Book Facts: Told in dual POV, this Christmas time standalone novella reunites the bully & the bullied for a week of family time at a cabin in the mountains.  Bad blood still runs deep, but the feelings that are developing between these two are deeper. Hannah must decide if their past is forgivable enough to give love a chance, or if there are some obstacles that can't be overcome. It does feature a HFN-ending & is completely safe from start to finish.

Timeline of Thoughts:
Starting: Christmas-themed, short, safe, & with a HEA..... just what I needed right now.
12%: Not another heroine with bad luck --- bless her heart.
19%: I'm sure what happened in HS was bad, but I'm not really feeling how Hannah is acting right now.
27%: Jerkface? How old is she?
44%: Dude I'm going to need to know what happened ASAP if I'm expected to "side" with Hannah's foolishness.
53%: OMG that made me really laugh out loud. That lady is for sure the star of this book.
74%: Seriously? This could have all been resolved. I mean he was a perv but geez guys, this wasn't as big as I expected.
75%: Does that mean he still likes me? I push the thought away. **palm to forehead** ummm you think? Don't be THAT girl Hannah.
82%: Wait, what?
Finished @ 86%: Well wasn't that sweet.....now onto a dark bully romance bc I need it.

Final Thoughts:
1. Fav Part of Book: One word.....NANA. Everything from her denture scene, her dirty mind, & even her sweet grandma moments.
2. Least Fav Part of Book: It is definitely a toss up between Darla & her snobbiness and Hannah & her immaturity.
3. Jonas: It's clear he was the big bad bully when they were younger, though you don't find out exactly what he did until much later. At that point, its very anticlimatic (but maybe I am desensitized from all the dark bully I read). I personally liked Jonas a lot, far more than Hannah.
4. Hannah: She starts off as the "victim" of sorts, and her bad luck in the beginning makes her someone you want to root for. Unfortunately, her immaturity (ex. she calls him "jerkface"....out loud) rubbed me in all the wrong ways. It was too much & yet, her magical "love snap" moment was too sudden. I can't say I hate her, but she will not be on my top list.
5. Writing: This is one where the writing wasn't lacking or unimpressive, instead it was exactly what it aimed to be. It was safe, with little to no true angst or conflict. It was sweet & cheesy, but cheesy in the best way.  I felt a few elements suffered slightly from the length of the story & the fact that the story ended at 86% (in favor of sneak peeks & links to other books), but aside from that it hit its mark.

"She’s like the rain after a drought, like a glass of water to a man who hasn’t tasted water in years, and I’m going to consume her, drink up every last drop."

Overall, this isn't going to be a book that pulls stromg emotions from you OR one that will land on your all time favs list. BUT that doesn't mean it isn't a worthy read, it was enjoyable & cute with some geniune belly laughs courtesy of good ole Nana & her dirty mind. Crack it open, dive in, & have fun with this sweet little Christmas love story.

"All that matters is us. I’d happily drown out the rest of the world for Hannah."

A former bully finds his redemption just in time for the holidays in this short, sweet yet sexy read. If you’re familiar with Beck and Hallman’s work, you know that they love to write bully and enemies to lovers romances, but this is done in a completely different way. Staying light and fun with a touch of steam, this novella is easily read in an hour or so but will leave you in the holiday spirit. The length of the novella really doesn’t allow the relationship to get explored in depth, but it’s easy to feel the chemistry between these two and their history allows this to avoid having an insta-love feel. If you’re looking for a cute, Christmasy story to warm up a winter night, this is certainly worth a read.

The story follows Hannah as she returns home for Christmas... only there’s an unexpected visitor at her family home. Jonas used to pick on her growing up, but one incident in high school put him securely in the bully category. To make things worse, they have to share bunk beds and avoiding each other is impossible (not that either one really wants to). They have the week to clear the air and see if there’s anything more than old feelings between them.

As always with these authors, the writing is solid and the tone of the book is perfect for the holiday season. My only real complaint would be that it’s so short - even for a novella - that it was tough to believe Jonas could overcome years of hate and anger from Hannah. I did like that the authors addressed that though, and it reads like a Hallmark movie where there is chemistry and feuding with the promise of more to come. All in all, a solid read - I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next from Jenna Reed.

Profanity Doesn’t Belong in Christmas Stories

I will admit that I have been gorging on Christmas romances and mysteries this holiday season. In particular, I enjoy a good holiday romance. I've noticed a disturbing trend in some of these contemporary Christmas love stories. Let me first say that I am never a fan of profanity in novels or any books, actually, whatsoever. Perhaps because I first developed my love of reading as a child and young teen—and books for readers of those ages back then did not have swearing. I always find it jarring and distracting in a book; unless it's for character reasons, I don't see why profanity is needed. To me, it seems like a lack of imagination and wordsmithing ability on the author's part (or authors’ in this case). I digress.

But I find it more difficult to accept in holiday romances. Given the reason for the season, it seems disrespectful to have a story littered with F-bombs and the S-word. I actually find it upsetting in Christmas romances. That, other crude language, and visual images just detracted so much from this story for me that I couldn't enjoy it. It is an enemies-to-lovers romance, but I never liked either the hero or heroine. If crudeness does not detract from your enjoyment of Christmas stories, you might enjoy this book.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Jonas and Hannah have been fighting since they were children, Jonas has always liked Hannah but he didn’t know how to express it so he decides to mess with her to get her attention. When they got to high school, Hannah already hated him so he didn’t know how to change it. But now they are both adults and he wants to fix things and finally say what he truly feels. Hannah’s family has invited him and his brother, who is Hannah’s sister boyfriend, to spend the Christmas week with them in the family cabin and he didn’t want to miss the opportunity. Hannah after the first kiss feels confused bc she can’t believe that she liked it and that she wants a repeat, but she is afraid that this will be another game for Jonas. But after spend the night in bed with him she realizes that she is starting falling for him.
A short, funny and romantic story.

“I promise to make this work. I might mess up, but I will never hurt you again. Never.” “I know you won’t, Jonas, you aren’t the same dumbass you used to be, you’re a gift, the Christmas present I secretly wished for this year.”“I’d prefer to be yours, only yours.” I shove a strand of hair behind her ear. This is it, we’re doing this, we’re going to try. I can’t believe I thought this year was going to be a crappy one, turns out, Santa might just be real. He did end up giving me the best gift of all...

Something I hate, and I mean truly hate is when authors (and people in general) use other people's "flaws" as reasons to shame a person or as joke fodder.
Be it weight, acne, handicap, sexual preference, whatever.
I hate it.
It's cruel and unnecessary, and truly a reflection on the author's beliefs.
In this case, it was the heroine burning her lip on pizza and then being accused of having herpes by the rest of the characters, as if it made her an unclean monster.
...
Hateful.
Fucking hateful behaviour.
Even if it had been herpes, this doesn't make her disgusting, just as it doesn't make people who suffer from herpes disgusting. We all have the potential for it. It's a cluster of nerves that lives in your spine which can be activated at any time and not solely through sex. It can be active from birth, are you going to start shaming children now?

STI shaming is disgusting and I do not want it anywhere near my reading experience.
I got a refund on this book.
That's how offensive I found it.
Fuck this bullying bullshit.

This Christmas is a fabulous story that will pull at your heartstrings and never let go. This story packs one whale of a punch, and it never stops the hits even at the end. If you want something challenging, surprising, and maddeningly wonderful, you need to read this book! What starts out as an angry, uncomfortable situation quickly escalates to a white hot steamy situation. There is so much going on as well as a great back story that we see glimpses of that I never felt that we missed out on anything even though it is a short novella. In fact, I feel like I read a regular sized novel with all the feels and drama mixed in. What a refreshing story that helps you remember the true meaning of the holidays! This was such a perfect book to read going into Thanksgiving and Christmas. It is truly amazing, and I hope that we get to see more of these brilliant characters!

A cute and steamy Christmas Novella

Novellas are always a great way to get that quick reading fix that I need, whether it be between books, at lunch, or in this case, bedtime reading, and This Christmas was the perfect way to obtain that.

It was a cute and steamy read that squeezed a lot of unresolved feelings into a short space of time and was also perfect proof that sex and chemistry doesn’t necessarily equal forgiveness for past hurts, well not straight away at least!!

4 Stars for a novella that achieved its goal of quick and easy Christmas entertainment, with the HEA that I demand. What’s not to recommend?

Special shout out to Nana who is as funny as a fight!!! My husband’s parents, and Aunt and Uncle when together are just like her and we’ve only JUST had that evening 🤣 🤣

I Received this Book from BookSprout for Honest Review.
I Give This Book 3/5 Star Rating.

HEA(?): Yes.
Heat: 2.5-3ish/5
Romance: 3-3.5/5
Suspense: 3/5
Drama: 3.5-4/5
Comedy: 3/5

It took a bit for me to like Hannah, though I did like her in the beginning don’t get me wrong. But she seemed a little..stiff as a character. Her family was hard to like for some reason, just didn’t feel a connection like I wanted to. The story did feel a tad rushed so the usual depth in the characters, was as clear as I would’ve liked.

I’m Definitely Looking forward to reading more from this Duo cause the next book sounds Great! :D

Little boys have showed their affection and adoration for little girls in the weirdest of ways since the beginning of time. And the tale of Hannah and Jonas is no different. As a teen, Jonas was horrible to Hannah....if only she know that all along he was trying to get her attention. Now adults, they have managed to get stuck at her parents cabin for a week. How is she going to deal with the person that caused her so much grief in school? And will he be able to explain his actions as a kid and his true feelings for her even to this day. It was an easy to read novella that had steam and heart. Admittedly, Hannah's grandmother was my favorite character in the story....she's a real hoot.

Sweet torment

This was my first time reading anything written by this author (combination of authors), and I wouldn't hesitate to read more of her/their collaborative work.

The blurb in itself was so funny... I just knew it was going to be a good one! It reminded me of my own school experiences, and how the boys used to annoy the girls. I guess some things don't change too much ;)

Jonas and Hannah have a fairly tumultuous relationship (if you can call it that), with MANY ups and downs. It's entertaining, and frustrating at times, but lots of fun.

I do however feel that we should get more about these two characters... any plans for that? Fingers crossed!

This one was short and sweet.

Hannah and Jonas have known each other since childhood and have always gotten along badly, until Jonas does something pretty silly in high school and that determines Hannah's deep hatred for him.

Both are forced to live under the same roof when they have to spend Christmas together in Hannah's family cabin. And even though Hannah doesn't want to have anything to do with Jonas, it's quite evident that she has feelings for him, so that coexistence is full of quite funny and smut moments.

The ending felt a bit abrupt, literally everything is solved in less than half a chapter. I understand that it's a novel and therefore it's not something very long, but I would have liked to see a little more development there.

Are you looking for a feel good holiday read? Then look no further than this Christmas. It’s a cute, enemies to lovers story that will get you in the mood for the holidays and leave you with a heartwarming happiness.

Jenna Reed is bringing all the heartwarming feels with this story. It’s cute and funny and sweet. Hannah and Jonas are so cute together. I just adored them. And Hannah’s grandma steals this show - she is hilarious.

J.L. Beck and C. Hallman have written this story under the name Jenna Reed and I can understand why, it’s so different to anything I’ve read from them before. And I loved it.

You can read it now on Radish. And preorder on Amazon for the November 29th release.

Hannah's worst day ever just got worse. Jonas, her arch enemy from childhood, is at her parents' cabin for Christmas. And they have to share the room with bunk beds. All she wants for Christmas is for him to go away. He bullied her from childhood through high school, so it's no wonder she hates him. But he works hare to be nice, and try to chip away at the walls around her heart. And then her Christmas wish comes true. This story grabbed me from the beginning, with the humor surrounding Hannah's crappy day. These two have amazing chemistry and amusing banter. And Grandma is hilarious!

I enjoyed this book. I do wish it was a bit longer, but we can't have everything we want. I liked the ending, but I felt like it was very abrupt. I was surprised at the ending because it was so abrupt. It would have been better with an epilogue.

Hannah and Jonah are enemies. He has been picking on Hannah since elementary school. Jonah shows up at Hannah's family cabin and they end up sleeping in bunk beds. Jonah's brother Jake is dating Hannah's sister Laura. Their interactions were funny and somehow mostly, how they felt about each other.

I recommend reading this book/

Sweet and basically clean Christmas romance story

So this reminded me of a Hallmark Christmas movie with all the sweetness and cotton candy flying around. The book was not what I had expected given what types of stories two of the author's write. So I was expecting something with some dirty sexy fun in it but that is not what this was.
As it is a short story I did read read and found the writing to be good but it was just not for me. Even with a Christmas romance I still like to read some heat.

What an amazing holiday read! Hannah and Jonas will have you smiling, laughing, they are so sweet together. I’m a huge lover of enemies to lover stories and this one did not disappoint. I was sucked in from the start, addicted as one would say, this is a page turner, a quick read and the chemistry between these two is crazy hot! I loved everyone in their story especially grandma, what the heck! She is hilarious! This book is fun, your sides will hurt from laughing so hard. It’s a great way to start the holidays.

This was such a cute and funny read. I laughed so much reading this. Hannah and Jonas are perfect for each other. I love enemies to lovers and this one was no different. Jonas was always mean to Hannah when the were little and all the way through school. Now she has to spend Christmas with him. Their snarky comments towards each other just kept going. There is so much sexual tension between them, it’s funny. I absolutely loved grandma, she was a hoot. Pick up this cute read and get into the holiday spirit.
