This is the greatest poetry I’ve ever read, it’s a love letter to our queer & watery spirit ancestors

The Elder Femme and Other Stone Writings by Odete is a concise yet powerful queer work that carries emotional depth far beyond its length. Through poetic, reflective writing, the book explores identity, memory, and embodiment with tenderness and quiet strength.

Intimate and thoughtfully crafted, these writings invite readers into moments of stillness, resilience, and self-recognition. Each piece feels intentional, offering space for reflection while honoring queer experience with authenticity and care.

A masterpiece. Odete uses our cultural relation to water and stone to explore archaeology, erasure, erosure, potential, all elucidating the blurry reality of trans history.

Magic, potions, creation myths, gods, Christianity, offerings, unity; poetry drips in the seams of the rocks we call history, medicine, and sociology.

An incredible achievement that teaches as it feels.
