Darkness threatens - this time Jay must fight for the very survival of the Given.
INTERLAND is a thrilling dystopian adventure that takes us deeper into a world where the chosen few have the power to read and manipulate minds - an exciting sequel to The Given.
By releasing the power of her connection with the energy of the land, the sea, and all living things, Jay defeats the Readers and discovers the sanctuary of the Interland. Safe from the oppression of the State, Jay is free to explore and develop her powers. But the world outside deteriorates, and once again the darkness of the Readers closes in, and Cassie is taken. Jay must dig deep to resolve her inner conflict between a desperate desire to remain protected in the Interland, and the need to leave her sanctuary and embark on a quest to save her friend.
All is not what it seems, and Jay’s fight to save Cassie becomes a battle for the very survival of the Given.
Gary graduated from the University of Surrey in the UK with a degree in Engineering, embarking on a career that has taken him all over the world from the Far East to the Americas. He is a graduate of the Faber Academy and Curtis Brown creative writing programmes. Now, a father of three, he has settled close to where he grew up on the edge of the South Downs in Sussex, where he indulges his love of books, and passion for writing.
The Given is his debut novel. It is the first in a series of young adult novels to be published in 2021 in which the main character, Jay, has to come to terms with her unusual gift.
It’s been two years since Jay, Stitch, Cassie, and Sammy entered the Interland. As the outside world continued to fall to the Readers, the Given felt safe within its walls. Then when Cassie and Rueben do not return from their mission as runners, reality of their possible extinction sinks in. Determined to save her friend, Jay and Stitch leave the safety of the Interland in order to save Cassie. However, the Readers have other plans. Will Jay be able to save her friends and all the Given, or is this the beginning of their demise?
Once again, Gary Clark brings the world of the Given to life in his book Interland. The second book of the Interland Trilogy, Gary continues to create epic imagery, fantastic characters, and unexpected twists. Mixing Fantasy with Mystery, this is one that was difficult to put down.
With little to no profanity, sexual content, and spelling and grammatical errors, there is no reason to not award a perfect score. Therefore, a rating of 5 out of 5 stars is given to this incredible story.
Unlike the first book in the trilogy, there a few events that may cause alarm in some readers. Please take a bit of caution if triggered by amputation, prosthetics, or depression.
Another novel within the Interland Trilogy that went above and beyond. With November 20, 2021 marked on the calendar, the release of the third and final book in this series is anxiously being awaited.
Thank you to #Interland, #GaryClark, and #GCLBooks, for the opportunity to read this book and give my honest review.
I am so glad that I have discovered Gary Clark and his Interland series. The story and world building is captivating and the writing so effective. I've read the prequel and the first two books so quickly because they're genuine page turners. I'm so looking forward to reading the next book and anything else by this author.
I can well imagine this series being turned into a movie. The story is even better than the Maze Runner series.
There's a combination of power, drama and tension as well as hope. I really liked the details and the references to issues that we deal with in our world such as xenophobia, othering and the environment.
I definitely recommend this book as well as the prequel The Reader and book 1 in the series The Given.
It was an honour to be asked to read and review Interland (Interland Series Book #2) by Gary Clark before the publication date of 26 April 2021, and I would like to thank the author for this opportunity. Once again it was a delight to read a Gary Clark novel and a joy to discover the next adventures for Jay, Cassie and Stitch.
Towards the end of Gary Clark’s previous novel, The Given, Jay and her friends discovered the Interland and found safety from the warped government officials on the outside. However, it is quickly becoming apparent that the outside world is on a downward spiral, Jay’s friend Cassie has gone missing, and the Readers are slowly getting closer to ruling in a way they believe is right.
Jay, therefore, has no alternative other than to leave the safety of the Interland, search for Cassie and find out what is going wrong on the outside. Accompanied by her friends, and with the help of the energy of the elements around her - the land, the sea, the creatures and the mountains, Jay sets out to once again try and defeat the Readers. Meanwhile, back at the Interland, all is not as it should be, and Jay’s brother Sammy and his friends are left fighting a battle of their own.
Once again, the author’s talent for writing takes you on the same journey as Jay and her friends, and many time I felt that I wanted to be alongside them, helping in any way I could!
The book demonstrates teamwork, and how, with the help and support of others, you can achieve the goals you set yourselves despite the obstacles that often jump in the way.
Although aimed as a book for Young Readers, I would nonetheless recommend this to anyone who enjoys a dystopian fantasy novel, both young and old alike. After all, who doesn’t need to escape now and then!
So, the story has finally made the progress that I was waiting for!!! The story don't lose it's track and continues in this book 2 with introducing new characters on its way. It is thrilling and adventurous as book 1 and is perfectly carved.
So, the plot resumes like this: After Jay and her friends finally arrive in Interland they find themselves free from any danger and feel safe. But the world outside the Interland is not safe anymore and darkness havs started to sweep. Things get even more complicated when Cassie is taken. Jay decides to fight her inner desire to remain in interland and go to search for Cassie and It soon turn into a war that could determine the very survival of The Given's.
The plot is fast-paced and creative. It takes us to a world of imagination where mind powers like reading mind and manipulating them exists. A wonderful book.
“She is fighting, she fought for me. She's the reason I got out of that place."
“His power is different. He rejected the power of the given and became something darker than the Readers. He will be the end of the given."
“The three dead Islands. Once the manipulator has you, Jay, your Island will be the fourth."

Good read but could be better. It’s a great plot and the characters are interesting. It’s missing spark and connection. The Given are connected to the interland, but to each other I don’t feel it enough. Especially Jay and Stitch. I’m not saying it needs to be mushy but to have two characters tied to each other so there should be feelings and emotions. I’m still interested and will read the next book. Definitely enjoyed but it would have been great if we felt more.
Adored this one!! Tons of action as we continue on this journey and I loved ALL the characters!!:-). The worlds and magic are so gorgeously written and you feel like you are right there!!:-). LOVED IT!!:-). Looking forward to where this journey goes next!!!:-)
I didn't like this one as much as the first one, but to be fair, I read the first one when I was in a very specific mood with little expectations, I just picked it up blindly and it surprised me.
But this one I had some higher expectations, and while I liked it, I didn't love it. It let me down a little bit, BUT it was still exciting and I loved the characters so much!
