This is a great story. I loved the characters, even the secondary ones. It’s a great romance. I might even want to read it again if there weren’t so many errors. So I would give it 5 stars but can only give it 3 as is.

Errors knock me out of the story, like roadblocks when I’m trying to fly down a highway. 99% of the errors were the same thing - action sequences attached to dialogue as if they were dialogue tags. Smiling, laughing, sighing, and doing anything else but talking are not dialogue tags! Oh my freaking gawd! There was hardly a dialogue sequence in this novel where this error did not occur! It was driving me absolutely bonkers.

It’s difficult to take a step back and think about the story without remembering the constant aggravation and frustration. And then there were a few errors where actual dialogue tags like he asked were not attached as a dialogue tag. *pulls her hair out* I would like to read the next book in the series, but I can’t. I took a peek, and it has the same action sequence as dialogue tag errors. I can’t put myself through this again. If the author ever fixes these errors, I will happily change my review to 5 stars and read the next in the series.

This series has a unique mythology behind it. Demon hunters are the descendants of a “demon” who had a child with a human. “Demons” aren’t what we normally think of with that word. They are very humanlike in appearance, and most are not evil. Demon hunters have, “Rapid healing, strong immunity, physical prowess, [and] three times the average human’s lifespan”. When a demon hunter marries a human, a ritual extends the healing power and long life of the demon hunter to the human. Demon hunters were created to protect humans from the creatures that sometimes cross the “veil” between the two worlds.

I normally hate amnesia as a plot device and almost skipped this novel because of that. I’m glad I went ahead and read this. Usually, amnesia is used to reset a story. The author loved the characters so much that she wanted to reuse them to tell a different story, so they are reset to zero with amnesia. I hate that. But here, amnesia is the start of the story. So don’t let any bad associations you may have with amnesia put you off.

I loved Quinn and Ryan. Quinn is strong, funny, and sexually assertive even when she can’t remember who she is. Ryan is strong, sexy, level-headed, and sweet. They are both bad-asses.

The story is interesting with plenty of action to go along with the emotion. The pacing would be great if not for the constant errors slowing me down.

Semi-graphic sex scenes. They are generally short and not detailed.

3rd person past tense from Ryan and Quinn with a few chapters from secondary characters.

126 instances of using an action sequence as a dialogue tag.
Alright is not a word. It’s all right, two words.
Other errors: 13 (missing words, incorrect use of semicolons, wrong words, words not capitalized that should be, and missing commas and quotation marks)

344 pages.

Infuriating man. Nice backside, though. That was the kind of ass they wrote sonnets about. None specifically that she could come up with, but worth considering. If she never found out who she was, perhaps she could make her fortune with nice ass poetry.

I quite enjoyed this book, though I'm not sure how the author will be able to make it a series since the team just got rid of the biggest bad that exists on our side of the veil.

I liked the chemistry between Quinn and Ryan. Their banter was fun and felt realistic. While I generally dislike the amnesia trope, I knew that it was involved, from the blurb, and I thought that the author pulled it off well; I especially liked that the amnesia wasn't natural.

My one complaint with this book, was that it felt like the healing of the rift was a bit anticlimactic. I could buy that Ryan has some instinctual abilities, given who his father is, but it felt like Quinn should have had some kind of ability to manipulate/sense the veil before this all happened to make her facility with it be believable. I could have bought it easier if she had some kind of natural affinity that became enhanced rather than going from nothing to expert in a couple of weeks.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Six is an interesting paranormal high-seas quest to rid the world of a nasty evil. Feisty Quinn is part of a team prophesized to take Typha down, but a battle leads to amnesia as Quinn mysteriously winds up on Ryan's boat in frigid Alaskan waters. And so our love story begins...

While I enjoyed the well-plotted storyline, the alternating point of view between characters is confusing at times. Keep in mind, I'm not usually a fan of alt points of view to begin with, so other readers may love this feature. I also wished to see a little more showing rather than telling as Quinn and Ryan get to know each other. Ryan is a little too quick to peg Quinn as a smartass -or claim to know anything about her- as she can't remember who she is. And Quinn is too comfortable with Ryan, bumping his leg and leaning her head on his shoulder when she barely knows him or his shipmates. Of course, there is a ton of heat between them, accounting for the struggle to mind boundaries, so I can't really fault Quinn there.

My overall thoughts: The depth of Thorne's storytelling is on full display in Six. Demon hunting in the cold waters of the Bering Strait is a wicked catch.

Demon hunter Ryan is on duty on the Valkyrie, his Coast Guard ship, when all of a sudden a massive jet of water crashing Quinn into his life. After being rescued from the water, we learn she's got amnesia. Realizing she's like him, Ryan makes it his mission to keep her under his watchful eye at all times. What he doesn't anticipate is falling in love with her and the strings that were pulled to bring them together for a much higher purpose.

I really enjoyed the book. It had me hooked from the first chapter until the very end. Ryan and Quinn's love story was well written. I loved the banter back and forth between. It felt genuine and real. The plot was also well written and developed, very different than what I usually read. But it was great. Even the secondary characters were nice. I would definitely recommend it.

Format: Paperback

We start off with our hero Ryan, and his fellow crewmates on the USCG Vessel Valkyrie. Ryan is this down to earth tough guy, seriously what's not to love? On one of their many secret missions they come across something a little extra weird for them. Which is turn is how we are introduced to our heroine Quinn! She is awesome even when fate has decided to play games and screw up her life. I loved that she didn't become weak or whiney over the obstacles she had thrown at her.

Ryan and Quinn share some pretty cool, and funny banter back and forth from the first moment they meet, and I freaking LOVED it. There wasn't any awkwardness with them, just total relaxed vibe the entire time.

I can tell that with all of our amazing background friends, and team members this is going to be a great series to get hooked on! I look forward to reading them all!

Although there were a few places that kind of dragged by, and Bennett seemed a bit needlessly d*ckish most of the time, I loved everything else about this book. The idea that 2 fated soulmates didn't suffer from instalove was quite refreshing, and the banter between Quinn and Ryan was entertaining and amusing. Willa was a terrific captain, and I hope she and the rest of the demon hunter group get their own stories someday soonish. Teamwork, friendship, loyalty, destiny, hope, and love were some of the underlying themes in this steamy adventure.

This was a very good and different read about demon hunters. Quinn was separated from her team and ended up with Ryan. He was immediately attracted to her and wanted to protect her but he was leery of other demon hunters because of his ancestry and his past. But their future was put in place by a prophecy of old and was orchestrated by his father and the creator of her line of hunters.

This was a great book with an amazing story line! It was one of the most unique books I have read in years! I adored the characters! I loved how well developed they were, and how we got to see the story from both Quinn and Ryan's POV. There were a couple sections that I thought were written in a confusing way, or not thoroughly explained that did end up being distracting at times, but still worth the read.

An easy to read book where 5 fighters are looking for a 6th member to complete their team. The six of them will try to defeat the sea monster Typha to prevent her from opening the veil between two worlds.
Number six, however, was not simply found. When the 5 try to overpower Typha, Quinn is thrown out by magic and found by Ryan. She cannot tell him where she came from due to amnesia. Lust and love falls their part, hot moments are shared.
Beautiful story, exciting situations, creepy monsters. Recommended

Book one in the A Demon Hunter Romance series this is Ryan Hunt and Quinn Fischer’s story of two demon hunters. Once I started reading I was not putting this book down, I want to read the next book. There is suspense, drama, danger, evil, a villain that I would not like to meet and romance. I recommend. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I loved everything about this book! All the otherworld characters. Ryan is a demon hunter who joined the coast guard. He is 2nd to his female captain, who knows what he is, as does the rest of the crew. Most demon hunters work in groups but Ryan was hurt by the one group he did join, so that's when he decided to join the CG and fill them in on what he is and does. Quinn is also a demon hunter with a crew. They all are chasing an elusive foe. Quinn's crew goes looking and finds said foe and a battle ensues. The foe has been holding all demon hunters maker for centuries, and they have been fighting the evil to get her back before the portal between worlds is opened fully and allows all the otherworld into ours. While fighting Quinn gets a special ride out and is thrown into the icy ocean right beside Ryan's ship. Ryan jumps in and pulls her from the water and immediately knows she is like him. He don't trust other hunters and wants to dislike her but what he doesn't know yet is they are meant to be. There is plenty of action, some sexy, and sassy through out. I enjoyed this book!

This is a first for me. I’ve never read a Demon hunter book before but I was intrigued by the synopsis so I thought I’d give it a go. OMG I absolutely loved it. Quinn and her Demon hunter team are on a quest to beat the big evil. This book captured my interest before the end of the first chapter and held it for the entire book. I love her snark and the way she interacts with everyone around her. I believe I’ve found a new author to follow. I’m delighted that it’s the first in a series. Happy April Showers!

I forgot that I get to review my own books; you rock, goodreads. As always, of course I loved it, or it wouldn't have been published! I have to say, my romance taste is eclectic. Happily ever after, loveable characters, smoking chemistry... I'm hooked, no matter what world the story takes place in.

With Demon Hunters, I dove headfirst into paranormal and have loved every minute of it. Ryan is my dream guy; self-effacing, thoughtful, but charmingly imperfect. Not to mention, he's a flipping hot Coastie. Quinn is my dream alternate self: adventurous, introspective, and downright snarky. Not to mention, she is far from a damsel. I don't do damsels.

As it says in the description, amnesia is such a cliché. Yet Six is fresh with new takes on favorite tropes. Not your typical paranormal romance. These are characters you'd want to be friends with (or fall in love with). Their interactions are authentic and human. And, well, the action, like the love story, is electric.

Enjoy!!!

A paranormal version of Deadliest Catch with a cast of characters that sets it up to be an interesting series in the future. One of the positives of this story is how the author tells the story through the POV of said characters. Allowing certain details to be open for interpretation by the reader. This moved the story forward smoother. However I was not a fan of what eventually began to feel like a large number of sex scenes. They made the beginning and end of the book feel as if they mirrored each other style wise and that the center or core of the book was just filler.

If you are familiar with the TV series Supernatural you will have some insight into demon hunting, when Dean and Sam find themselves working with other hunters to bring down a big baddie. There is a lot of research and going over old prophecies and biblical references etc and as such parts of the book does get a bit bogged down with a lot of mental pacing. In other words part of the book really took forever to get moving.

We get some background info on Quinn’s demon hunting group, which she was the leader of. Having recently broken up with one of the members of her group, things get a bit maudlin for a bit. Once she has been shut putted into Alaskan waters with no memories of her past life she has to figure out who she is before things come to a head.

Ryan has a different outlook on demon hunters and wants no part of them. His gut tells him that the newest member of the crew is one of them but his body isn’t paying attention.

There is some nice building of sexual tension between these two, loads of snark, which I always enjoy and great teamwork once they put the pieces together.

Plus there is Captain Willa Marks, who I wish we had gotten more background on her, she had me totally intrigued. She was a kick butt woman that despite being mortal wasn’t afraid to go after some supernatural demons.

So while there was a lot of good fun and some tear jerking moments the story could have been shortened a lot. There was at times too much repetition of the same events just a different day. Areas were just dragged out. Plus the big baddie that they were fighting I mean we were getting a big build up and I thought this is going to be epic and we will get something out of this world after wading through all of the fogginess and it was so anticlimactic that I had to re-read it twice to make sure I hadn’t accidentally flipped a page. It was such a let down after everything that I felt cheated.

One of my pet peeves is when authors take strong women with big personalities and strong sexual appetites and Ess El You Tee shames them. I mean why take away their power and have them refer to themselves with derogatory names because they feel their passions strongly, for me it’s an automatic star drop. In this case I kept it at a 3 star instead of dropping it down to 2 stars. We get enough put-downs in the real world how about not doing it in our escape world?

Six is the first book in Carries Thorne’s Demon Hunter Romance series. This book is an action packed paranormal romance novel filled with great characters, intense passion, a great love story and a happily ever after.

Fate literally throws Quinn Fischer and Ryan Hunter together off the Alaskan coast. She doesn’t remember who she is but Hunter does and is reluctant to trust her. The attraction between Ryan and Quinn is instant and explosive. They are drawn to each other and struggle to main focused on the task at hand. For Quinn, figuring out who she is and what happened to her. For Ryan, helping Quinn, keeping her safe and protecting the world and his crew from the stranger happenings in the ocean. But even though fate brought them together, was it only to tear them apart? Read it to find out!

I discovered Carrie Thorne and this series while searching BookSiren. The cover drew my attention and once I read the synopsis I was hooked. I love paranormal romances, with lots of non-stop action.

I love the premise of a team working together to keep the world safe from the unknown. Both the hero and heroine in this book displayed good, strong characters with strong morals and personalities. I also loved the details given to their backgrounds and storylines. I can’t wait to read the next book in this new series to find out more about the other amazing characters of this Demon Hunting Team.

Ryan Hunt is a demon hunter and XO assigned to the Coast Guard's covert Valkyrie ship. He assists them in protecting humanity from monsters. He's not like other demon hunters and after a bad experience with a hunter team he no longer wishes to work with other hunters.

Quinn Fischer is a demon hunter, a descendant of the demon Deandra, who loved their world. Quinn and her fellow hunters were born to save humanity from the monsters. There's a prophecy to defeat Typha and close the tear in the veil between the two worlds. Her team believes they are the ones to fulfill the prophesy as soon as they find their sixth member.

During their first fight against Typha, Quinn is hurled far away and dropped into the sea near Ryan's ship. After Ryan saves her she awakes to no memories of who or what she is, but Ryan recognizes her heritage. Not trusting her and confining her to his quarters, wariness quickly turns to attraction. Ryan doesn't want anything to do with other hunters but he can't help falling for this unknown woman.

An interesting take on monster killing, their origins and whether all monsters are bad and need killing, with a side of romance and destiny. A likeable read with interesting characters.

Hunting and eliminating sea monsters and demons sounded like it would be a fun, sci-fi/paranormal read. This could have been a 4-star book, if only it had had an editor. There were so many typos and misused words that I got dizzy, bouncing in and out of the story.
his voice low with a steering ache,
Excuse me? What?
She leaned up and sat crisscross-applesauce, facing him and watching his eyes crinkle as he considered her question.
Crisscross-applesauce? They're in nursery school now?
she fell into a viscous slumber.
More sea monster slime? Yuck.

Quinn has blue eyes. Midnight-blue eyes. Midnight eyes. Midnight blues. We know this because we're told so many times that when one of the scenes described a "midnight sea," my brain immediately translated it to "midnight blue eyes sea." I hate it when that happens.

It's such a shame when an otherwise good book is ruined by lack of editing. This was a cool story, with super-powered Good Guys and Bad Guys, intense battle scenes, and a warm-and-fuzzy romance. Hence the 2 stars rather than 1. When there are editing errors on almost every page, though, the flow is so interrupted that it becomes a frustrating and painful read. I won't be continuing this series.

This is my first book by this author. I love military romances and the paranormal theme helped make this book and exciting to read. I had a hard time putting this book down, I enjoyed it that much! Quinn Fischer and Ryan Hunt are fascinating and rather normal characters, despite their professions. I enjoyed them together much more and not just for their passionate relationship. Their almost instant chemistry was captivating and I had to keep reading to see what would happen! I loved what Quinn said to Ryan about being whole. I totally get that feeling! I was pleasantly surprised in this book and I love not being able to know what will happen next. This book kept me on my toes and I wish it didn’t end. I definitely want to know what happens next in their journey. Fingers crossed the next book will have some of them in it! I loved the excerpt from Astrid and Bodie’s book and I need more!!! Can it be December so I can read the rest of the book?!!! I highly recommend this book and if you are like me and love military romances with action, bad a** chicks, and drool worthy men then this is the book for you.

Ryan works on the Coast Guard ship Valkyrie, but they're not just any crew. He's a demon hunter charged with protecting the coast of Alaska against some of the worst monsters. When a woman literally drops out of thin air near his ship, he rescues her from the freezing waters. He knows she's a demon hunter like him, but when she wakes up she has no memories. They must work together to fix her amnesia. But the closer Ryan gets to Quinn, the more he wants her past to stay hidden so she'll stay with him.

This book has a lot going on! Action, adventure, friendship, romance...and monsters. I do wish there had been more chapters about Quinn's team and their recovery from the fight and search for her throughout the book instead of just the end, but I guess that makes her amnesia stand out more. I would love to read a prequel about Ryan's past with his demon hunter team. The setting on a coast guard ship was interesting and unique and I like how his crew is so accepting of him and do their best to help fight the monsters.
